S&G Siding and Window

Scott was punctual, professional, friendly, and creative from the first inspection all the way through to the final stages of the project. He believes in fixing things before replacing them - and it was wonderful to watch him carefully work on our home as though it was his own. I couldn't be happier with the work that he did for us, and would highly recommend his services to anyone!

Scott and his team replaced all siding and trim on the front of my house, including adding new vapor barrier and backer boards. The work was started and completed quickly and done beautifully. I have relocated to an area that Scott doesn't serve, but I wish he did, because I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

He had delays with rain and other projects. In the meantime the area where my puppy damaged the window was now damaged further and exposed to the elements. We needed to have a contractor come repair since S&G was so delayed. The new contractors bid to do so was 1/3 the price of S&G he also looked at the areas S&G found and had 3 areas that either did not need repaired or only some of the repairs were necessary. He also gave us a bid to install a French door for $250 and S&G bid was $600 for the same install. We allowed him to repair some of the wood rot and the exposed dog damage but wanted to make sure we used S&G since he ordered parts. S&G had retained $1200 worth of work to complete. On June 7th S&G called to start the following day and I mentioned that some of the work had been completed because of his delay and exposed damage. He had told me in his initial bid that his pricing was based on each repaired part not on the job as a whole. He arrived and we reviewed the completed work and what he needed to do. I pointed out the window that he said needed repair and the other contractor said no repair was needed. I could tell he was getting offended by the tone of his voice. He acknowledged one other repair made by the other contractor didn’t include the brick mold. That particular repair was one of 2 that the other contractor identified as unnecessary. He then said he didn’t see enough repairs to be worth his time and walked off. Throughout this interaction his assistant was scowling and shaking his head. Guess $1,200 isn’t worth his time.

He did a good job and the siding, repaired old cedar shake siding. Come to find out he used roof shingles not siding shingles. On the door did a good job on clearing and replacing brick molding, he did however leave exposed nail heads on door frame. He was professional and courteous and cleaned up after the work he did daily.

He was able to come the day following the request, which was great. Once there, I found out he doesn't do the sort of repairs I would need (I called him due to previous work), but he still stayed out and spent the time to help me out with troubleshooting and stop-gap measures...can't say enough how appreciative I am of that! Scott is a great guy, and think he should be included in all your bids/estimates.

Scott replied promptly and completely to my email inquiry, was out within a few days for estimate purposes, and then scheduled me in for as soon as it was warm enough. He showed up on time, and even stuck to the original quote even though some additional work was needed, and was very communicative (and knowledgeable). I was very impressed with him and the work, definitely feeling great about my choice of service provider and the quality of work. I would most definitely recommed him to others.

What I raelly appreciated with them was when they gave an estimate very fast and when he did it they were very helpful in terms of educting us about things to be done and not. It was both tht helped me to really to choose them.

Scott, showed up when he said he would and got the work done quickly. He took the time to explain in detail all that had to be done before starting and any unforeseens that come up during.

The job went extremely well. I was delighted with the work and workmanship. His price was below that of the other well know wood rot and siding company I got a quote from. Scott does the work himself. He was punctual and worked diligently. He is a craftsman that one hopes for in a contractor. The seam between large 2X12 inch cedar boards is barley detectable. Scott sealed the underside of the threshold on the door before installing it to assure durability. He used cedar to make sills to assure longevity. I saw him prime all sides of the new boards that he was installing, not just the side that is exposed. At one point during the job, another contractor working down the block stopped to learn some of the techniques Scott used to rebuild windows.
