Owner and crew were professional every step of the way from getting quote till the job was finished. They cleaned up and hauled all debris and then some. I highly recommend this well trained and professional tree service company.

Mr. Hendrickson got back to us on the same day that we called, was punctual for the estimation assesment, and was very fair on the price. The team came early the next morning and took care of business. Not only did they remove the fallen limb, but also gave our tree a bit of trimming. From our experience dealing with them, I would recommend them highly.

KC Arborist came out to our house to give us an estimate. The estimator was friendly and gave us all sorts of helpful advice and landscaping ideas outside of the work that the company would perform. He sent us an estimate via email the day he visited and it included a breakdown of everything they would complete. I replied to the email to schedule service and it took about 2 weeks to get us on the schedule. They showed up the day of as promised and completed all the work. I will definitely use them again for my future needs.

When I call, Brandon comes out to walk the yard and discuss all of the vegetation and trees in the yard. As part of that walk through, he makes suggestions for work that I can do myself. Two times he's spotted borer holes in trees that I hadn't seen. KC Arborist always shows up on time with a full crew equiped to perform the scheduled work. They move anything in my yard that could be damaged by falling debris. After they complete their work, they carefully clean up and replace everything they moved into their correct locations. The only change to the yard after they leave is cleaner looking trees. They also provided deep root watering to a tree that exhibited drought shock two or three summers in a row. When I described the symptoms, Brandon immediately knew what was wrong. The tree is now healthy and even after a year like 2012, the tree doesn't exhibit drought shock since I learned to root water. Neighbors on both sides of me have lost older oak trees to drought. I haven't lost any. Although they are a bit higher than other tree services, their work is exemplary. Cheap isn't necessarily better when we're talking about irreplaceable older trees.
Description of Work: KC Arborist has been taking care of my trees since 2006. They've done work from removing a major oak tree to trimming dead branches to shaping young trees to providing advice about work that I can perform myself.

The overall experience was excellent, the responsiveness was only fair because of the lack of communication. I made a phone call for an estimate, someone came, looked at the project and sent an estimate by E-mail. So after getting some other way higher estimates, I went to their website and signed an E-contract. A few days (about a week) went by with no response, I went back to the website and signed another E-contract. After only a couple days, this time, I was called with an approx. time and day, the crew showed up as scheduled and did an excellent job. A small hurdle, it was never a deal breaker, I would have just preferred a more timely response. But it turned out to be well worth the wait, very professional crew. They were knowledgeable of their craft, and had all the proper safety equipment. I am union, and proud to be an American when I see someone take actual pride in their job.
Description of Work: I had two large trees and a small evergreen removed, stumps as well. Also had two other trees pruned, all debris removed, and a yard that looked better when they left than when they got there.

Jeff came out and looked at my trees/made recommendations. A couple of them were growing into each other and another needed to be trimmed back from the house. All needed general pruning....crown thinned, etc. He prepared a quote on-site and we scheduled a date for guys to come out and do their thing. They were rock stars! Showed up on the spot, talked to me about what they were going to do, and executed to plan! Worked safely--with appropriate safety gear, did a fantastic job trimming and pruning, and great job cleaning up! I will call in a few more years to perform tree maintenance! Super smooth experience and quality of there work was great!

I was very pleased with the service and the work completed by KC Arborist. I have several large trees in my yard and a few small ones, and I wanted to get everything done at once. They weren't the cheapest quote, but they weren't the most expensive either. There was about a 2 week lead time before they were able to come out and complete the job, but that's understandable at this time of year. I wasn't home the day they did the work, but I know they came out with a group of guys and a couple boom trucks and completed the trimming and haul away the same day. When I got home from work I wouldn't have been able to tell they were even there if the trees didn't look so much better. They did a great job of cleaning up.

I asked Jeff to come out and give me his opinion regarding some trees in my backyard that were leaning over the garage. He was extremely helpful and after our discussion we decided to have all three trees removed as well as two trees in the front yard. Jeff and his crew cut down 5 trees and ground down 7 stumps (2 were already there) below grade. They performed the service while I was at work and when I got home, I could barely tell that anyone had even been there. Their ability to get access my back yard, remove the trees, grind down the stumps and leave no trace was exceptional. I've already recommended them onto several people at my office.

Couldn't have asked for a smoother process! Everything from the quote process to the actual trimming services went flawlessly. They did the work when I was at work and it was as if they were never there (except for the trimmed tree of course!). The invoicing was all done electronically and they even provided me proof of insurance which gave me peace of mind. No branches could be found on the ground and they maneuvered their vehicle through some tight spaces between my house and my neighbors. I would certainly hire them again for their services. I don't get so anxious now when storms come through the area.
Description of Work: KC Arborist came to my house one afternoon to look at a tall elm tree that has started to grow over my house and my neighbors house. They gave me a quote for trimming it back away from the houses and pruning the low hanging branches. They told me they could come out a few days later and do the work during the afternoon.

Totally professional. It was the last job of the day for them and they attacked it full out as if it were morning. My thanks to the crew!
Description of Work: Pin Oak branches landed on roof from an early morning thunderstorm. Jeff came out early Tuesday morning to see what was going to be needed in the way of equipment. While waiting for Jeff I emailed Brandon and he responded right back that Jeff was almost there. Finally a company that actually watched their e-mail account,, and responds quickly! When the crew and equipment arrived later in the afternoon as promised Brian and his pros put on quite the exhibition of professional tree climbing, cutting, bucket maneuvering, rope handling and and clean up skills. Approximately three and a half hours later the job was complete and the work area as clean as it could be. The amount of debris on the roof was huge. Brian, operating the bucket, never touched the roof deck to remove the debris and minimize shingle, gutter and felt damage beyond what had occurred from the limbs original fall. Alex the climber, in cooperation with his teammate on the ground, attached each cut log and lowered it to the ground to minimize damage to plantings.

I was very pleased with the tree consultation provided and it was very helpful. Jeff was able to schedule us the next day after we called and showed up right on time. We were able to use the Angie's list coupon that the company provides for a complimentary inspection. In our case, the problems were related to lack of water, bagworms, and a small tree that is not able to be saved due to root problems. Jeff educated me on how to take care of the different trees that I asked about and even gave me some pointers of planning for the future of where we should add some trees to counter where other soft wood trees will likely have to be replaced in the future. Jeff was very honest and upfront in not trying to sell me services that I didn't need and advised me I could either use his tree spraying service or, for my particular problems, just do it myself. If you are looking for a company to come out and give you a knowledgeable consultation on your trees and recommend a program for treating any issues, knowing you won't be sold something you don't need, I recommend Jeff with KC Arborist.
Description of Work: Jeff from KC Arborist came to our house and provided an insect & disease inspection and consultation. We have three trees that we were concerned about the health of and Jeff was very knowledgeable in immediately identifying what the problem was with each and how to care for the trees in order to get them back to health.

We had a horrible experience with this company and sales person, Jeff. First, they took off part of the wrong tree. Next, they hauled off all the wood from one tree (we had two taken down and wanted to keep the large wood). Then, after grinding the stumps they left HUGE piles of wood chips and finally, they took a 4"x3" chunk out of our driveway and chipped the edge, leaving scrapes in the cement from one of their machines. When they came to the door and told us they were done, we asked about the piles of wood chips. We were told they "were our problem" but if we wanted them to take them we would have to pay extra. $270 extra! We were told that that the error of cutting down the wrong tree was because a branch of the correct tree hit it and broke it off, but they are so far away from each other that's not possible. Trying to get the sales guy, Jeff, to return a call was very difficult. He did eventually come out to inspect our complaints but was non-chalant about their errors and rude when I asked what we could do to resolve the problems that had occurred. In regards to our driveway "What do you want me to do? Come drop off a bag of cement for you?" So, $900 later we hauled off 28 bags of wood chips, I'm missing half a beautiful redbud and I have a chunk out of my driveway. No resolution, no apology.

Response from KC Arborist Tree Care
This truly has been an unfortunate circumstance. At K.C. Arborist we pride ourselves on excellent customer service. Admittedly, there were some mistakes made, however I have tried to make this right with the customer several times to no avail. Upon receiving a voice mail one evening, I returned this Member phone call immediately. I spoke to her that evening, apologized to her and explained that I would be out first thing the next morning. After I visited the their residence and spoke with the foreman, I called her again. I explained to her that a limb from the silver maple (being removed) had rolled as it was placed on the ground and it broke a 1” limb on their redbud. Knowing the damage caused, the crew pruned the limb back to insure proper healing. At the time of the proposal, I explained to her the options for stump grinding (the cost of stump grindings and the options that come with, vary according to tree size). Considering the price difference, she decided to “grind stumps to 8 inches below grade and rake debris back into the cavity”. The client may not have understood fully the amount of grindings caused from her size of tree, however she was very price conscientious and said they could handle it themselves. I asked her how she and her husband would like to resolve the chipped concrete. I offered to come over with a bag of concrete and fix the chip myself. She replied, “Let me talk to my husband and I will get back to you.” After respectfully waiting for an adequate amount of time, I called to see if they had come to a conclusion of how we could fix the problem. After messages left, I showed up with flowers in attempt to communicate with them. I did receive an email thanking me for the flowers but I still have not heard from them in regards to resolving this matter. In addition to their refusal of communication with our company, their account still has a balance due for work performed and additional bank charges from a returned check. I would love to get a chance to make this right for them as well as for our company. We continue to leave the door open for the chance of satisfying all parties involved. K.C. Arborist will always strive to be our best. As you can read in our several other reviews, we truly pride ourselves on excellent customer service and great work. Feel free to check us out through Google reviews, Yahoo reviews, and our website to see the many more positive experiences customers have had with K.C. Arborist.

I would never use them. I got a quote from them and they were five times higher than everybody else. They gave a quote which was ridiculous. The quote was for $2500 and it was to take down a tree by the street. All the other places were between $500-750 that we contacted. They were way out of line. They were responsive. I would never ever call them again.

After searching our data base of previous estimates, we can find no one by the authors name which we have given a proposal. Excellent service! Quick response to initial call and site visit/estimate was done in a timely manner. Kept us informed of their schedule and what day service would be complete. Trimmed five trees and removed a tree and a large bush in one day. Yard was left very clean. Estimate and payment were all completed via email or internet--very convenient! I would use this K.C. They were very precise in the use of the crane, which I had never seen before. They were in and out in half a day. One of the trees was very large, with a 50" base at the trunk. They had no problems at all. They were very responsive, even to the point of giving us the number of their insurance company to myself and my neighbor. They even answered questions my neighbor had. The bid process was very unique. They used an iPad to set up and provide an estimate. They were very good about keeping me up to date on scheduling and let me know when they would send out the crew for the work.

KC Arborists are the "rock starts" of the tree service industry. When Jeff came out to give us a bid, he analyzed the health of all our trees. We had one giant Oak tree that had been growing too close to the house for probably 62 yrs. It was a hazard needless to say, as well as it having significant health problems. Their bid included using a high-tech crane for ease of removal and the safest way given the proximity to the house. Jeff was able to use an I-PAD to give us a comprehensive quote on the spot. We set up a date. His crew was on-time and included five arborists. All requests were performed according to the bid and the entire crew was efficient and great to work with. We highly recommend KC Arborist, and will use them for all our tree maintenance going forward.
Description of Work: Removing a "giant" old growth oak to ground level. Removal of diseased Red-bud to ground level. Machine grinding stumps to grade and hauling grindings to grade. Maintenance prune and thin by 10-15% of a large elm tree. Removing old bushes along front of house and grind stumps. Hauling and proper disposal of tree and landscape waste.

We had solicited bids from three tree service companies, all of whom are providers on Angie's List to do an extensive job of pruning and removal of trees on our home property as it had not been done in about 10 years. Jeff Sifrit, from K.C. Arborist, came to the house and spent 10 minutes with my wife discussing our wishes and presented us with an estimate for $2015 for completion of all work. Although it was extremely hot outside, I was quite surprised when they both came back into the house so quickly after having spent at least an hour with the two other companies representative. Our budget for the services was $1000 but that proved far too low as each bid was closer to twice that figure. We decided to select those services we wanted done immediately and would delay the additional services until later in the year. Unfortunately, one of the companies had a 4 to 6 week backlog of work already scheduled, and so we decided to go with K. C. Arborist because they could have a crew onsite within the week and because their fees for the work we selected would be $790 according to the estimate. My wife had mentioned the coupon the company offered on Angie's List and Jeff said that we could subtract an additional $50 when we received our invoice. We were pleased by the dramatic change when the crew had left, but were disappointed that the red bud still had several low hanging limbs and that one of the shrubs had not been removed. A few days later, we received our invoice for the work and were surprised to find that it was now $850. My wife called Jeff to ask about the $60 discrepancy and was told that was for having an arborist onsite. That expense was not itemized on the estimate and we were told that at least one and possibly two arborist would be present on the job site when the crew was working. She also mentioned the work that was left undone and Jeff had his crew come back to finish the job within the next 7 days. Sadly, there are still limbs on the red bud that are hanging far too low. Overall, we are satisfied with the job that was done although technically it remains unfinished. However, we are very unhappy that this company would provide us a written estimate for $790 for their services and then send us an invoice for $850. As a result, I would be hesitant to use this company for any additional work in the future.
Description of Work: Work included: remove to ground level an ornamental crab apple tree and machine grind the stump 8 inches below ground level, rake stump grindings back to fill in the stump cavity. Remove four shrubs and volunteers and machine grind to 8 inches below ground level, rake stump grindings back to fill in the stump cavity. Prune red bud tree to clear house by 3 feet and remove deadwood 1 inch and larger in diameter, crown raised to 8 feet. Remove all volunteers and treat to prevent regrowth in right side yard. Backyard maple tree - maintenance prune, selectively thin by 10% - 15% and remove dead, dying and broken limbs 1 inch diameter and larger. Crown raise to 12 feet. Provide haul and dump service.

Response from KC Arborist Tree Care
In this particular instance, the member originally requested a quote to have a large amount of work to be performed. Upon receiving their estimates, they realized the amount of work they wanted versus their bugeted funds was quite different. The member contacted me (Jeff) here at K.C. Arborist and reduced the amount of work to be performed by two-thirds. I explained that the pricing originally quoted was based upon the large volume of work originally requested, therefore I would need to resubmit a revised estimate and pricing which would need to be approved. There were no problems indicated at that time, and I sent the revised estimate, which was approved by the member in the amount of $850. The $50 Angie’s List coupon would be honored and taken off that price. The work was performed on the given scheduled date. When the oversight of not removing a shrub was brought to my attention, I sent a crew back to complete the job as quickly as possible. In regards to low hanging limbs, the crown raising was done to the specifications agreed upon before any work was performed. If additional crown raising was requested, we would have been happy to accommodate. K.C. Arborist Tree Care Company takes all feedback seriously from customers. Upon finding this review, I immediately took action to clear up any misunderstandings. I spoke with the member a few times, in which she has expressed complete satisfaction with K.C. Arborist, saying that the misunderstanding has been with the member. I’ve tried on numerous occasions through multiple avenues to contact the member in order to resolve this dispute, however he will not respond. K.C. Arborist values each and every customer. We value clear communication, and do our best to make sure there are no misunderstandings in any part of the process; from a customer’s first phone call, to the finalization of the work. I invite the member to contact our office in order clear up the miscommunications. Jeff Sifrit ISA Certified Arborist, Consulting Arborist K.C. Arborist Tree Care Company

They are professional, clean, and did a wonderful job. They cut down one tree without the slightest bit of damage. They trimmed the other tree in a way that lets in more light, but still has the look of a giant tree. It was way more than I expected. They not only cleaned up the lawn, but they also cleaned off the my roof and gutters. They were very polite.
Description of Work: They took down a tree, and trimmed another.
