KC Arborist Tree Care

I contacted KC Arborist to have some tree work done; I had used them before when I was living in another location and liked the work they did. Jody Niccum came out to my house and looked at the work that needed to be done. He sent me an estimate the next day and I agreed to have three of the items on the list done as soon as possible, then the other work done when the weather got cooler. The work crew arrived at the appointed time and while I was talking to the foreman, the others were getting equipment out and starting to work. The maple tree next to the deck had sustained some damage during a wind storm earlier in the spring and there were some branches lying on the roof. The crew climbed the tree and trimmed all the dead and damaged branches and were very careful not to let the limbs land on anything that was on the deck. While they were working, one of the other workers removed the two saplings and cut them even with the ground so I would be able to mow right over the stumps. I asked the foreman if I could have them haul away a small pile of branches that I had accumulated, seeing that they were already going to the recycling center with the rest of the branches; he agreed and set someone working on that. I watched the crew work on the maple tree and asked some questions about the process. They were very helpful and informative and explained the reasons for the kind of trimming being done.When they were done, I was asked if the work was done satisfactorily and if there were any more questions. I had a few questions that were answered. They cleaned up the yard under the tree for small branches that had fallen and swept the deck where some sawdust and other debris had landed. When I asked about trimming the oak tree in the front yard, the foreman explained that if he did it now, the tree would be prone to a disease which might kill it. Trimming the oak and the Japanese maple in the front yard could be done after 1 November when it was cooler. The work crew was here for about 2.5 hours. They all were polite and professional and when they left, the maple looked much healthier.

Reached out to schedule estimate. Received prompt call back to schedule appointment. When appointment day came, I tried to contact the representative. Left a voicemail, sent a text message, followed up a few days later with another phone call, but have not received a call back since.

Jeff was prompt and thorough in bidding the job and setting the time frame. The work was completed at the time it was promised and was actually on the early side of the estimated time. The man who treated the ash tree was knowledgeable and explained how the treatment works and its effectiveness. The two men who removed the two redbud trees were on time, worked very quickly and efficiently. They removed the trees, ground the stump on one and removed all the debris. In addition, it seemed like the work was done quietly as well. I was pleasantly surprised how fast the job was done! It was also done well.

It went very well! They were backed up a little so it took a little longer for them to get out to us. Took them about a month but the work was very good!

This company did a great job from the bidding of the job to the work itself to the clean up. Everyone I interacted with was professional, polite & informative. This was a tough job as these were enormous pines that were situated in a tight spot close to our house. They checked with me along the way if there was any need to cut surrounding bushes in order to get better access to the pines. To give you some perspective, I had 2 other companies out to bid this job. One said he simply could not do it & the other said he wouldn't even try to take on this job for less than double what my bid from KC Arborist was. KC Arborist is the company to call for tough jobs. Given that they were uniquely capable of handling a job like mine, I think it speaks volumes about their integrity that they did not try to gouge me on the price. Very refreshing!

They were at my home for just 10 minutes doing the work, and they also destroyed my rosebushes below.

My willow tree was a mess. KC Arborist sent a crew to my home. They did a maintenance prune, thinned the tree, removed dead and broken limbs and raised the crown. The tree has never looked better! I highly recommend KC Arborist!

The project was started, and finished on time (a rarity in this day & age). The team of James and Edward was very efficient, knowledgeable and worked hard the whole time they were here.. Not only did they remove grindings, tree branches and leaves from our yard, but our neighbor's yard as well. They even cleaned off our driveway where their equipment had run over leaves and left a couple of green stains. When they left, the only way to tell they had been here was the missing tree. I couldn't be happier with their service!

The crew arrived on time with all the proper equipment. They used a large machine to grind the stumps and then removed the material produced by the grinding process. They were thorough and swept the driveway clean before they left. I have already asked this company to return and plant a tree for me in the same location.

I chose them because my neighbors use them. They did a great job.

Their service was excellent. Their dedication to their craft stood out like all the guys are licensed and stuff. They had two guys here that would spent the entire day, one guy spent the entire day on that one tree I mentioned, probably most of all was their clean up. They cleaned up my yard, but also smart for them from the business perspective they cleaned up neighbors yard around our house, which was pretty impressive I think. We would use them again in the future.

The trees were cut down, stumps removed and debris was hauled away.

Very prompt, specific, professional advice. Will contact this company in March to proceed with removal and replacement of the tree and other shrubs.

He was great. Very professional and personable. We discussed the project over the phone, he sent me the quote, and we agreed to go forward with the project. He came out within 2 weeks and completed the job within hours. He cut the tree all the way down into the ground, so we could just put some grass seed over it and use that space for something else.

I decided to get four estimates from A rated service providers. Three of the estimates were in the $975 to $1200 range. KC Arborists estimate was double most of the estimates I received.

In July, the original estimate I had for my trees was for 2 ash trees, 1 redbud, and treatment for Emerald Ash Borers. I had a couple other estimates for the trees and the treatment. I went with another company for the treatment, but only because they offered to do it right then and there. KC Arborist was about 6 weeks out on the trimming and pruning, but everyone else was too. I was scheduled for September 18 and they arrived as scheduled, did all the work, cleaned up, and hauled everything off. The trees turned out great. The crew walked me through on their initial arrival on what they would be doing, then afterwards once everything was complete. They did great work, and I plan to have them prune my trees again in the future.

Excellent! I requested quote on-line. Jody called & emailed quote in a itmely basis. I went online & signed their online quote system to get scheduled. They arrived on-time & took care of everything very professionally. I watched them take the 2 limbs down over the neighbors yard & was totally amazed at the care they took to bring it down between the cable lines so it ended up in my yard rather than in the neighbors manicured flower garden. Every scrap of branch was taken away without disturbing even 1 flower! The entire job was done skillfully & professionally. Every detail was tended to - even to breaking up clumps in the top soil which they put on top of the area where the stump had been & to raking the yard around the stump & blowing & picking up any debris in the street. They were amazing! I highly recommend them.

The crew did a great job. They are clearly safety conscious and well trained. I've used them for many years for trimming as well as tree health. The quoted price didn't include the disposal fee, so that came as a minor surprise because it wasn't a separate line item in the past. In the future, I will know to ask if a quoted price includes all charges. We enjoy working with this company.

KC Arborist did a fantastic job on our tree removal and other services. We live on a heavily wooded lot and will be using this company each year to assess the health of our trees. When we initially contacted the company, there was some communication issues with an employee who no longer works there, but the owner, Brandon, went out of his way to rectify the situation and take care of our trees immediately. Other arborist companies we contacted would not take the job because of the steep slope and the difficulties accessing the dead trees. However, Brandon and his crew were adept at innovating solutions to the problems posed by access. For the amount of work performed, the price was very reasonable compared to other quotes we received. The crew, including the owner who supervised the work, were consummate professionals. The work was done efficiently as possible, although with the amount of work the crew stayed until the early evening. Furthermore, the work also left significant debris, but the crew cleaned up our property and left it looking better than when they arrived. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone looking for tree related services. Thanks KC Arborist, you have some loyal customers!

It was good. They showed when they said they would and did the work as they said they would.

Owner Brandon Hendrickson called me a couple of times to discuss their service and operations. I wanted a company that did more than just "top" the trees as I too commonly see and he assured me that KC Arborist was different. I contacted him in October, but decided to have the work done in December. They are less busy and offered a "winter discount". The service was as advertised. The crew was professional and well equipped. As a bonus, I learned my Elm in the front is a "Siberian Elm" and the Sycamore in the back is actually a "London Plane" tree. What is really impressive is that even 2 1/2 years later the trees look great. Ok, the Elm is an Elm and looks good but not a big fan of Elms. But the transformation of the Sycamore/London Plane tree was stunning. The did a "crown raise" to raise the canopy to 12' and cleaned out all of the dead limbs and touched up the rest. I am still blown away by how much better it looks and how it now shades the yard without getting in the way. The real test is that because of how they trimmed it, 2 1/2 years of growth has maintained the same raised canopy and great lines as the day they did it. The other bonus for both trees is that they have fared much better in the Kansas City ice, snow, wind, rain and hail. I will definitely use them again and will most likely schedule them for this fall or winter. Easy to see why they are so busy.

Jody came out, I told him what I wanted and I was emailed an estimate that day. Jody explained it would be 2-3 weeks before they could work me in, but that was not an issue for me since there wasn't an immidiate need for me to have the tree's done any sooner. I chose K.C. Arborist because I wanted to have a company that knew what they were doing. I didn't want my tree's to end up looking butchered. I was extremely happy with the results. I think my tree's look lovely. The Bradford Pear was machine ground below ground level which I feel is worth the extra cost to have done. My neighbors used another company who took down a tree of theirs and they have a huge unsightly stump in their yard that they will have to mow around for years to come. My brother-in-law came to visit after I had the tree's done and he told me it looked like whoever I had do the tree's really knew what they were doing. He's not one to dole out compliments very often so I know he meant it. I would use K.C. Arborist again. I found them to be a very professional operation and everyone I encountered was friendly and a pleasure to do business with.

The arborist called me today and he informed me that to get a consultation with him it is $75. That is is only free if I just want pruning or cutting estimate. I found this to be a bit deceiving.

The company sent a young man to spray our 5 crab apple trees with fungicide. I showed him the 5 trees and went about my chores. Just before he left I noticed that he had sprayed 3 Bradford pears that stand next to each other. Turns out he missed 2 of the crab trees I had shown him. It was obvious he could not distinguish the two different varieties of trees. I had left my iPhone and some other items in the shade under the Bradford pears on the back patio that were drenched with fungicide. I had removed items near or under the crab apples, but didn't expect the wrong trees to be sprayed. When I expressed my displeasure about my iPhone, the young man said not to worry, it would be ok. I told him I wasn't so sure. He responded by saying that if I had bought a water proof case for the phone there never would have been a problem. Instead of being apologetic the worker chose to argue with me. I sent him home. The next day, Justin, a real arborist, came and sprayed the two untreated crab apple trees. He apologized for what happened. That evening I emailed the company (B. Hendrickson) with my concerns. I have never heard back from them. Their web site is very proud of their credentials and professional association affiliations. It states that their crews are highly trained. Yet they sent somebody to my property who cannot identify tree types and lacks any kind of customer service skills. If I had not been home nobody would have been the wiser. If not for the fact that Justin took care of the missed trees the next day I would have given an F in all categories. It baffles me that the person at the company (B. Hendrickson) to whom my email was directed per their web site never responded to my complaint. I guess business is good.
