The entire process went well from start to finish.
Description of Work: I had them remove a 56 year old blue spruce, 4 river birch and they cleaned up a variety of crab, rose of sharon and a huge oak not to mention ground and grind and remove debris from 10 stumps. This is a very professional, courteous group and I highly recommend this company.

We have a yard filled with mature trees, so we use tree trimmers regularly. I found KC Arborist through Angie's list and called about a dead pine tree that needed removal. Jeff came by and we spent nearly an hour walking through my yard and discussing not just the pine tree, but various other issues. I explained my requests, which were basically "get these trees far away from my house and my neighbor's house". I emphasized that I wanted the trees cut back as far as possible because we generally only call a tree service about every 3 years. With the Black Walnut in particular, which encroaches on our neighbor's home, I made clear that it's a tree we wanted cut back severely, with no real consideration to aesthetics or long-term damage to the tree. We don't like it anyway and are considering removing it altogether. Though Jeff nodded and agreed throughout, apparently what he heard, was 'cut the trees 3' feet from the house'. The crew arrived on time and did the job very quickly. They forgot to clean up underneath one half of one of the ash trees (multiple small branches, which I didn't notice until the next day), and the stump grinding left a 2-ft tall pile of dirt and mulch. I asked the foreman about removal of this pile, and he replied it would be an extra charge, so the pile stayed. Jeff had mentioned that he usually comes by to check up on his crew's work, but didn't do so this time. Although not thrilled so far, I went ahead and paid the bill. (As a side note, I mentioned the $50 Angie's list discount on 3 different occasions, Jeff wrote it on the bid, and yet I was still billed the full amount. I deducted the amount myself from the final bill). When the crew left, I was a little disappointed with how little the trees seemed to have changed, considering I had just paid nearly $1500 to trim them. However, it was early in the season so I thought I should wait and see what they looked like once all the leaves had appeared and the trees were completely filled in. I mistakenly assumed that the $350 I was paying per Ash tree meant they were being carefully and professionally shaped. Boy was I disappointed a month later when the trees were leafed out and lo and behold, they were touching the house! I also had a large limb snap during a thunderstorm (again, mistakenly thinking that preventing this is why I paid so much to trim them). Jeff, came by a few days after I called, looked at the trees, said there are no guarantees in tree work, and insisted that they were indeed 3 feet from the house and that was standard for all tree trimming. He also offered the explanations that the recent rain was causing the branches to brush the house and that the trees had simply grown a lot in a month. Because a few weeks had passed and he didn't actually remember this job, he said he'd go back and look at the paperwork, though. To make a long story short, after looking at the paperwork, he did have his crew come back and further trim back two of the Ashes, but refused any further work on the offending Black Walnut or a 3rd Ash that is clipping the Walnut (I paid $600 to trim these 2 specific trees that are 30' apart, and they're still touching each other). Jeff was defensive, bordering on rude, about my request for the additional work, when his crew had clearly not done a thorough job. I feel I should at least have received an "I'm sorry for your trouble", but did not. For those planning on using KC Arborist, put on your reading specs and study the tiny scribbles on Jeff's proposal thoroughly. He did write 3' clearance in one section, but 6' in others, otherwise he'd be rated an F. My biggest mistake was assuming Jeff was listening to my requests and writing them down, which he didn't do. Communication overall was poor, and this was easily the worst tree trimming experience I've gone through.
Description of Work: Removed one diseased pine, plus machine grinding of the stump ($500). Maintenance pruning of 3 large Ash trees ($350 each). Cut back a Black Walnut whose branches are (still!) too close to neighbor's house ($250). Cut back branches from 2 Hickories near back of house ($100). Cut bottom limbs from a Maple ($40).

Response from KC Arborist Tree Care
As the owner of the company I take all feedback very seriously and it is upsetting to hear of an unsatisfactory review. It seems some 4 months has passed since this work was originally completed and this is the first I am hearing of these issues. I will definitely look into this and if there is anything I can do to prevent such miscommunications in the future I will certainly do so. Sincerely, Brandon Hendrickson President K.C. We were very pleased with the caliber of service that Brandon and his company provided to us. We were very worried about the tree as it is only one of two large trees on our property. We had lost several limbs during the spring storms and were concerned about more damage. In addition to this there were also some bugs starting to attack the tree. Real nasty little buggers that form webs in the tree. Any how Brandon came out looked over the tree and recommended a structural prune and thinning. They were very through in removing any dead wood and the damaged wood from the spring. In addition they also selectively removed other branches and such. When they were done the tree had a fantastic look, i must admit it was much better than thought it would be. Then they started a treatment program for the bugs. They have disappeared all together and the tree looks great. We had a wind storm last sunday and no additional damage was sustained in the tree. They did a fantastic job and we could not be more happy
Description of Work: We contacted K C Arborist with some concerns regarding the health of one of our large shade trees in the back yard. Brandon came out and look things over and recommended a structural prune plus a bug treatment.

Overall they did an excellent job with very good results. They were very careful not to damage my house or landscaping. The only problem that I encountered was that they did not complete all the work that was outlined in the original agreement on the first visit. However, once I notified Jeff, he was very responsive and the crew returned a few days later, and all the work was completed in a satisfactory manner. Jeff and everyone that I came in contact with were friendly, knowledgable and professional. It was a pleasure doing business with all of them.
Description of Work: They removed large tree limbs from a very tall tree in my back yard. In my opinion this was a fairly difficult project because the limbs were hanging over my roof, and had to be cut at a height of approximately 25 feet above the ground. They completely removed all debris.

It went very well. I spoke with Jeff Sikrit on the phone to describe the location, and condition of the trees. Very soon afterward, I received Jeff's response, and he scheduled the work right away. I had used this company before, and will continue to use them again.

It went fantastic. Jeff came out to do the estimate, was on-time and very professional. He took some notes on a tablet PC and took my email address. Within 24-hours I had received an estimate via e-mail. I responded asking when they could get started and was contacted the next day to get an appointment scheduled. The workmen showed up on time, were very professional. Each one introduced himself and then immediately got to work. They were very good about taking care not to disturb nearby landscaping including rock trim around a garden area and plants near the trees. After they removed the trees, they ground the stumps down about 24-inches, and re-planted 2 young red buds. After they were finished, they swept up the whole area and cleaned up all the waste including twigs, branches, and wood chips. Jeff called back a day later to make sure everything went well.
Description of Work: Removed 2 mature red bud trees, ground down the stumps to a depth of 24-inches, and replanted 2 young red bud trees. Jeff was fantastic when I first called, he came out to give us an estimate, was on-time and very professional. I even asked him about a situation with a 5+ year-old white oak and he noticed a girdling root and told me how to take care of it immediately. He also gave me great suggestions on trimming the oak tree to ensure it grows healthy and properly. The day of the services, the workmen showed up on time, introduced themselves, and got right to work. It took them no time at all to perform the work. They were very careful of surrounding landscaping and took great care not to create more mess than necessary. After they were finished, they did an excellent job of cleaning up any leftover debris.

Brandon gave us an estimate the next day following my initial call. Bid was received by email via smartphone. Work was performed on time and budget. The stump area was ground to an 18 inch depth. Well pleased with the work. KC Arborist was initially recommended by my neighbor, and is now on my preferred vendor list also.

We had a huge cottonwood tree, 90+ feet tall and perhaps 4+ feet in diameter, that was dying from a lightning hit 3 years ago. We were afraid that it could have a limb or even the tree itself come down on the house during the storm season coming up. We called K.C. Arborist. Jeff came out the next day, and looked the situation over. A more personable and professional individual I have never met. He explained in detail exactly what they would do, how they would do it, and and why. The situation was difficult, because they could not get any of their heavy equipment within reach of the tree, due to power lines, septic system, and vegetation. He gave us an estimate, we accepted (their excellent rating on Angie's List was a big factor). The next week, six young men showed up with chain saws and ropes, and a bunch of trucks, exactly on time. They spent 11 hours, and got the job done. They cleaned up very concientiously and thoroughly. I was struck by the camaraderie and teamwork, and the extreme professionalism and respect among them. Truly remarkable! In summary, I enthusiastically recommend this company for any work regarding trees. They are truly professionals, in every sense of the word.

It was a true pleasure doing business with Jeff and his crew at KC Arborist. I am the first to complain when I get bad service but I do like to recognize good service as well. Jeff's pricing was fair. Unlike other people who bid the job, Jeff didn't football the price. He gave me a fair price from the outset. Others bid me high (by as much as $400) and only came to a fair price after they heard that I'd had KC Arborist out. With Jeff, I got one price, a fair price. His team was prompt, couteous and did great work. I would, and for that matter will, use his services again in the future. The clean up was thorough. In fact, his team went above and beyond on bpoth trips to my house. The completed things that I had never even thought to ask for, and they did it without being asked and without extra charge. I thought that service like this didn't exist in this profit first world but this company was absolutely outstanding.

Jeff came promptly to give estimates of work at two different houses calling me in advance. Very personable! Gave realistic estimates and solid advice. Contracted for work at one house & Jeff's estimated date for job completion was spot on! Very professional crew of 5 experienced arborists arrived exactly on time. Using bucket truck, all appropriate safety gear (helmets, safety lines, radios, vests), and great teamwork, they completed job in less than 3 hours despite moving the bucket truck 3 times for best set-up angles. Whole team was very friendly and knew exactly what to do. We really appreciated how they used a belaying line to ensure no branches hit a Rainbow playset directly under the largest tree and double checked with us to ensure wife was happy with new unobstructed view of backyard. And our neighbors surely appreciated that they only ran the chipper for less than 45 minutes after they had most of the cut branches piled up. Too often the "fly-by-night" tree services who knock on all the doors on a street let chippers run the whole time they work a street! When they were done, the foreman reviewed the work order for completeness and supervised the cleanup of every branch (even from neighbors yards!). As they pulled away, Jeff swung by to check in and see how if went! What a great company for a reasonable price! I will be using them for all my tree work in the future!!!

They arrived when they said they would, and got right to work. We were concerned about having the walnut tree pruned and didn't want the smaller maple tree that was under the large limb to get damaged, but they handled the job like professionals and did a fantastic job. These trees are more than 50 feet tall, but with their safety gear, they climbed up into them with no problem. They were careful to make sure that the limbs didn't fall on other trees, the roof or the house. They did a great job of cleaning up afterwards. They used a wood chipper for the smaller limbs and hauled away the larger ones. There was no mess or debris left behind. The price seemed a little high, but not out of line. They are professionals who know how to do the job right, and we'll definitely use them the next time we need tree work done.
Description of Work: Pruned two very tall hackberry trees that were hanging over our roof and our neighbor's roof, and scraping the sides of the houses. Removed a large section of an old walnut tree that was hanging over a smaller tree. Removed another old tree that had died in the last year.

Jeff was very responsive to our call to request an estimate, and was able to fit us in within 2 weeks to do all of our trimming and remove a tall spruce tree in the front of our house. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional and answered all of my questions. Their estimate was a little more than Ryan, but he indicated they go further up in the tree, so we hired them based on his follow up to answer questions and detailed estimate with a follow up call. We could not be more pleased with the work they did. I am particular, and was very impressed at both their work, and mores the cleanup. There were very few stray branches to be found, and they did a fair amount of work at our home. I had spoken with our neighbor about them coming the morning they were arriving, and they were even able to fit in a tree removal for her. A++ on all accounts. I highly recommend KC Arborist, and Jeff was a pleasure to deal with.

It went very well from the beginning, from the bid to completion. The company promptly returned phone calls and were able to set up a time to come out for a bid within just a few days. All of the company's workers were professional from start to finish. The work was completed in 4-6 hours. A nice touch at the end was a thank you in the mail for our business. We will definitely be using the company again for regular maintenance of trees and any other unexpected tree work.

Jeff called to schedule an appointment a day or so after I called. He was prompt on the appointment day and called before he came out. He surveyed the job and gave me a quote within about 10 minutes. He said they had the crane rented next Wednesday and they could come out about noon. I called 3 other companies. Only one other came out to bid the job. They said the job really needed a crane and they would have to get their crane guy out to survey the site. Their crane guy didn't show so I called back, needing to get an answer so I could schedule the job. When I told them I had a quote from K.C. Arborist, they said they couldn't touch it for that price. Then they told me they hated to lose business but they could recommend K.C. Arborist. On the day of the job, Jeff showed up early to help make sure the street was clear of parked cars. The crew and crane showed up before noon. Brandon, the boss, climbed the trees and hooked the crane to them and did the cutting. The crane picked up the pieces and carried them to the street where the two man crew cut and chipped the branches. The bigger ones were set aside for another truck that loaded them up when the job was done. The trees were out by 2:30 and the crew cleaned up my yard and my neighbors yard. There was a deck up against one side of the trees and my neighbors fence up against the other side. A power line was ran along side them also. The biggest tree was within a couple feet of my house. They plucked every piece straight up without any damage to the surrounding structures. When it came time to pay, there were no surprises. The quote was the price. Nice! Very professional. I will highly recommend Brandon, Jeff and crew to my friends and neighbors!
