+ -1 moreThe ice maker wasn't working and we didn't have water through the refrigerator door. I phoned Johnson County appliance and Cory came out on Friday to fix it. He was here about 20 minutes, discovered that there was nothing wrong with our ice maker and that the reservoir in the refrigerator just neede time to fill after we'd changed the filters.
Description of Work: Checked ice maker that wasn't producing ice and water through refrigerator door.

+ -1 moreI was called at 7;30 am and told they would arrive between 8 and 8:30 am. The serviceman was here at 8:10 am and finished by 8:30. This included turning off and on the power to do the work, testing the oven, and being friendly. I had called the day before to make this appointment. I got their name from Angie's List. A definite keeper. This service call cost was $69.00. My bill this time broke down to: parts $63, service call $69, Labor $20, Tax $12. The last appliance call I had was from Around the House Service Center. The bill for them included $95.00 of labor for the first 20 minutes.
Description of Work: They replaced the heating element in my upper oven.

They arrived about two hours later (I was shocked - think I've had to deal with a cable company for a bit too long!), found the problem quickly, showed me how to fix the ice maker if it happened again, and talked with me about other minor issues (like my washing machine smelling moldy).

+ -1 moreI was very impressed. I will applly the $$ for the service call to a new machine and ALWAYS call JoCo Appliance first when I have any problems. I was treated quickly, fairly and no charge.
Description of Work: I had used JoCo Appliance before to fix our dryer and they were the only company I called this time. By putting the phone next to the operating machine, they were able to diagnose well enough to tell me our 14-year old machine was ready to be "blessed and released." Not only was I told that I would be sending good money after bad, but was given three locations to shop for a new one.

+ -1 moreMy ice maker was dripping a lot of water into the ice bin and into the freezer. My dryer was taking forever to dry my clothes. He came out and adjusted the water flow into the ice maker, but left a big pile of wet paper towels on my counter. He also determined that the dryer was fine, but the vent was clogged. He unhooked the dryer from the vent, but did not reattach it when he left. Even though I wasn't using the dryer, it let cold air in through the vent and would've been nice had he reattached it.
Description of Work: Adjusted water flow into ice maker and looked at dryer.

+ -1 moreWe were very pleased with the service from Johnson County Appliance. The time that it took to get the part was a bit long, however, that was in no part due to Johnson County Appliance. They were great, friendly, on time, and on the low end of the estimate.
Description of Work: Our dryer's heat setting was not working. It would only stay on the highest temperature. I called on a Monday, and the serviceman came out on Tuesday. After attaching his equipment to the dryer, he determined that there was a relay switch that needed to be replaced. He had to order the piece that was needed. He did that on Tuesday, also. He gave us the price of the part and estimated that the total cost would run about $200-250 dollars. The part came in on the following Monday and it was replaced on Tuesday morning. The serviceman checked all the settings of the dryer and all was working well.

Cory described EXACTLY what was happening to my 8 year old dryer and honestly told me to go buy a new one! I am thankful for his honesty and not wasting my time or money.

+ -1 moreJohnson County Appliance did everything that they committed to do and also left the old part for us. They arrived on time and corrected the failure quick and efficiently. Price may be a little high, but service was very good.
Description of Work: The spin cycle on our washer stopped working on a Sunday night. We called Johnson County appliance the next day. They said that they would call between 7 and 8 AM the following day and let us know when they would arrive. On Tuesday morning they called as expected and stated they would arrive at 8 AM. Within 20 minutes the washer was fixed and in working order.

+ -1 moreNeedless to say Johnson County Appliance goes to the top of my list for future repair needs. The representative was courteous, friendly and extremely helpful. He took the time to explain everything and actually talked me out of having the work done which saved us money but didn't earn the company anything but my respect. He also said that if we needed someone to come out he could have someone there that day. The previous company we called required that we make an appointment several days ahead and then showed up several hours late. I am impressed by honesty and professionalism.
Description of Work: Water dispenser on refrigerator was not working properly. We had called another company for repair. The estimate seemed rather high, especially considering we had already paid for a service call and that the same company, indeed the same repairman, had fixed this problem before. We were told that the line was clogged and that we would need a new saddle valve which of course the repairman did not have with him. I called Johnson County Appliance and the very helpful gentleman I spoke to said that he thought the other company had diagnosed the problem correctly but that we could probably fix it ourselves without buying any new parts or paying for another service call. He gave simple, clear instructions and my husband had the problem fixed in under 20 minutes. He also explained that if we wanted to have someone do the work for us we would need a plumber, not an appliance repairman.

+ -1 moreThe service person was very helpful. We had trouble setting up a time due to their busy schedule and our busy work schedules. They were very helpful and called when they said they would and coordinated something to fit our schedule. We couldn't make a couple of the times he was available. He was very patient in setting up our final meeting time. The work was done promptly and the washer no longer leaks. We would definitely hire JoCo Appliance again.
Description of Work: A valve in our washing machine was leaking when water filled the tub.

+ -1 moreThe service man, Cory, came on time and assessed the problem. Very fast and very efficient. The return visit with the part was a week later and he was again very fast and very efficient. (Seemed a long time though to obtain a part. However..it was fixed, service man was helpful with suggestions and cost was reasonable.)
Description of Work: The plastic washer at the bottom hinge of the Hotpoint refrigerator door was broken. The door wouldn't stay shut. It was replaced.

+ -1 moreRON WAS VERY PLEASANT BOTH ON THE PHONE AND IN PERSON. HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HE NEEDED AND FIXED THE PROBLEM IN 20 MINUTES. HOWEVER I THOUGHT THE PRICE WAS EXTREMELY HIGH FOR THE AMOUNT OF TIME IT TOOK. I LOOKED UP THE PART HE REPLACED ON THE INTERNET AND IT RANGED FROM $7.95 TO $14.27 (THE HIGHER ONE DIRECTLY FROM SEARS) HIS CHARGE WAS $27.90 FOR THE PART. SO BETWEEN HIS UPCHARGE FOR THE PART AND THE SERVICE CALL $59.50 AND $20 LABOR I THOUGHT THE PRICE WAS QUITE HIGH. I DON'T MIND SOMEONE MAKING MONEY BUT $100 IN 20 MINUTES (DEDUCTING THE PART) IS QUITE A BIT!
Description of Work: MY KENMORE WASHING MACHINE DID NOT AGITATE OR SPIN BUT MOTOR STILL WORKED.
