This was a fantastic company who performed high-qaulity work in a timely manner at a good price. Originally, we wanted them to replace our french doors in the basement and put a storm door on our front entrance. After the initial consultation, Bill (the owner) showed us a beautiful sliding, four panel 12-foot door that was a perfect solution for our walkout basement. As we talked about the position of the door, he made a couple suggestions about removing some windows that were existing and relocating them to the side of the house. That suggestion was terrific and really added natural light to our basement in a way that we could not have imagined. When the construction process started, Ed (craftsman) was prompt, speedy and demonstrated excellent workmanship. Overall, we are very appreciative of how they transformed our basement, by just replacing a door and moving two windows. They are great to work with and I would highly recommend.
Description of Work: We contracted with Johnson County Siding and Windows to replace our walkout basement door as well as provide a storm door on our front entrance. In addition, they moved to large windows in our basement.

Don Ebertine was our project manager, and he and the team did an excellent job on our windows. Don came and gave me a ball park estimate to have the windows replaced, and instead of giving an incorrect estimate for the wood replacement, he asked one of the team members to review the issue and estimate. He called us with the estimate and what they were going to do to fix our problems. After signing the contract, they ordered the windows right away. At the time that we were going to have the windows installed, the carpenter came in and fixed the wood; because no flashing was installed when the house was built, water trickled down into the windows and down in the surrounding casings. As a result, our 10-year old house had warped and molded wood that needed to be totally removed and rebuilt. The workmanship was outstanding and exactly matched the intricate detail that was part of the window casing prior to the updates. When it came time to put in the windows, Don noticed that the windows had something wrong with them and he reordered them instead of having them installed and waiting for us to notice that there was a problem. The installation of all three windows was done in one day. We couldn't be happier with the work and care that was taken in making sure that everything was done was a quality job. Thank you!
Description of Work: Three large windows and flashing were replaced along with the rebuilding of the casing around the windows.

Overall Johnson County Siding did a wonderful job with our installation. They worked very hard to make sure we were happy with the work they did. The outside of our house looks amazing! They are not the the cheapest siding company out there but you get what you pay for. Their craftsmanship was superb, they were very quick and reliable and easy to work with. Johnson County Siding is a very professional company and I would certainly recommend them.
Description of Work: After getting quotes from several companies we chose to use Johnson County Siding to reside our house, not because they were the cheapest, but because they seemed to be the most professional, honest and most responsive to our needs of all the businesses we looked at. Here what we liked about this company: The sales rep was very responsive to our questions and worked hard to listen to what we wanted. The sales rep was also the person overseeing everything including the installation. This was nice because we had one contact that new exactly what was going on. We didn't have to work with several people and make sure everyone was on the same page. The rep was very knowledgable about the products and services and provided on the spot quotes. He was happy to make changes to the quote until we found something we liked and could afford. I thought the installers seemed very trustworthy and hard working After starting the installation they didn't stop until it was finished. It took a little over a week for them to complete the installation. The installers worked very hard to make sure we were satisfied with their work and seemed to take pride in what they did. They have a great warranty. The workers were punctual and did their best to work around our needs. They worked in some of the hotest weather in KC history without any complaints! They started work very quickly after signing a contract. Here is what we disliked: I found a bunch of nails in my yard after they were done. It seems like this would have been easy enough to pick up using a magnet. Other than that they did a good job cleaning up. Their price didn't include painting where as most other quotes we got did and were less expensive. They did have a company they worked with and recommended to do the painting. The painters they recommended did exceptional work and coordinated with the siding installation to get everything done quickly The sales rep did try to up sell us a little but that's his job and he quickly let up when we said we weren't interested. They did set a large board on our bushes that did break several branches. I wasn't at all happy about that but it wasn't the end of the world. Neutral: After removing the siding from the front of our house it was discovered that there was no OSB to install the siding to. This had to be installed to meet code requirements and they will only install to code. This meant an additional charge, something no one likes, but there was no way to know it had to be installed and we were able to negotiate the price some. After having selected a stone to be used on part of our siding we had to choose a new stone because the first one was no longer available. This meant missing more work to pick out stone a second time but there was not much anyone could do.

I have mixed reviews. We had some siding that was damaged in a storm. We had wanted to replace the siding anyway because it was not of very good quality. We had 10-year old siding that was faded. The owner came out to do the estimate, and he told us that we shouldn’t replace the entire siding because it was going to cost us. I don’t know if it was our fault, which perhaps it was, but we said fine. They came out to fix the damaged part and then fix some of the old siding that was not in good shape. The problem was that it didn’t match, and then we had two different shades of siding in two different colors. I talked to Bill, the owner, and told him that it wasn’t acceptable. I had him fix parts of it so it would be more uniform, but now the problem is that the front of the house is a different color, and one side of the house is a different color from the other side of the house. It can’t be noticed right away because we only see one side of the house, but it can be seen, and I was not happy. He said he would come back and fix it all, but we put in hold. I think his price was just high. I think his price would have been high had we have him do the whole siding on the house to begin with, and to have him come back and fix it would be even higher. We decided that we weren’t going to do that, and we didn’t like what he had put on there anyway. So, we were just going to wait it out and eventually have the whole house done in a color that we want, and not have this kind of patchwork thing. It is not professional. It was partly my fault because we said okay thinking that we could save some money, but the contractor should have realized that it would have been difficult to match the colors. The guys that did the work were fine. I don’t want to be negative towards them because they did what they were told to, and they did a good job. They took a long time. It took him three months to come out here to do the work. I don’t want to deal with him anymore, so I am just letting it go. I will have it fixed eventually but it won’t be with them.
Description of Work: Johnson County Siding & Window Company fixed the siding on the house.

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review for our company. My approach to every job is to work on your home as if I were working on my own home. Your home's exterior had been resided with a premium Alside product, however, the installation had been poorly executed by another company. My goal was to correct the poor installation without residing your entire home to make it cost effective. Unfortunately, I was wrong because you, as my customer, were not completely satisfied with the job upon completion. I would be willing to reside the front of your home or reside the entire home at my cost to correct this problem. We strive to ensure the complete satisfaction of our customers. Due to a hail storm in Johnson County on April 3, 2011, at contract signing, I informed Mrs. Matthews that we were running 8 weeks behind. The contract was signed on August 12, 2011 and the job started 9 weeks from the contract date on October 18, 2011. Sincerely: Bill Christie-Owner

Justin Christie came out and gave us an estimate. He was very professional and not pushy at all. We had gotten other bids that were lower but we liked the fact that Johnson County Siding and Windows is a local and family owned business so we chose them. We were told it would be 4-6 weeks after our windows were measured before they could be installed and that estimate was right on the mark. 2 gentlemen came out to install the windows and they were able to install all of the windows in 1 day! They did have to come back the next day to finish up some trim work. They left the area cleaned up and each time one needed to come inside he always took off his shoes! Justin came by to make sure everything was done as promised. It's been 2 months and we are really happy with the new windows -- we've really noticed a difference this past week with the temps in the 100's and the interior of our house seems to stay cooler! We have already recommended Johnson County Siding and Windows to neighbors and friends.
Description of Work: We contacted the company to replace all our windows (11 windows total) with double-paned replacement windows.

Everything went very well. This company is very good about getting back to you in a timely fashion. The price was a bit high, but sometimes you get what you pay for. We also found a good number of nails outside of the house after the job. It would have been nice if they would have picked up all of the nails, but not that big of a deal.
Description of Work: We had 5 windows replaced, along with the outside trim. The old windows leaked pretty badly. We have had no problems since the new windows were installed.

We searched several different siding companies and heard a lot of different stories and theories on why they did things the way they did. Johnson County Siding and Windows (although not the cheapest or the most expensive) rang through in their presentation and delivery of products and services. As evidenced by our further purchases after the completion of the initial contract, we are very satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: Confirmed Johnson County Siding and Windows made certain we were knowledgeable of the process and expectations throughout the transformation process. We had a lot of work done (Siding, Windows and Doors) and everything Don Eberting said would be done was done in meticulous detail. Don always returned phone calls promptly in a very patient, professional and supportive manner. The work crew that did the work was very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and always ready to explain what they were doing and why. We have already noticed that the house is much quieter and that our air conditioner is not constantly running in this excessive 100+ heat. We have already ordered another storm and main door for the back after seeing the transformation on the front. Well Done!

Johnson County Siding and Windows changed my life! Really, it did. My house was the worse house on the block. The paint was peeling, there was exposed wood and the garage doors were damaged. We also had these horrible, dirty wood shingles that I have always strongly disliked. I didn't like looking at my house at all. It was not all that relaxing to come home to my home. Then I met Justin at Johnson County Siding. He didn't judge how completely rotten my house looked. He had ideas about what to do. He told me my house would look different than all the other houses on my block and that it would be the best-looking house as well. He managed keep his estimate under my budget. The garage door people showed up weeks early and those were installed first. Two nice new doors, along with a very quiet motor. Justin had estimated that the rest would be installed about 4-6 weeks after he gave me his estimate. He called after about 3 weeks and said they would start the next day. The crew started on a Saturday with all the siding installed by the next Thursday. I even bought a new light for my deck and they installed that as well. The siding crew was very hard-working, professional and fast. The gutters were installed on Friday. It was about a 7 day job, which is what Justin originally told me. About two weeks later, Justin came by for a final walk-thru with me. He saw a problem with the gutters. The crew didn't secure the gutter guards the way that they should have. He apologized and called them about it. They came out and fixed it the next day. Justin and the crew who worked on my house were very responsive. It was a big job, but my family was not inconvenienced at all. It was pretty much painless and it was well worth the money I paid. My house does not look like every other house on the block. My neighbors like me again. I love driving into my driveway after work. I think my house might be the best-looking house on my street! Thanks to Justin and everyone at Johnson County Siding!!!
Description of Work: Old paint, wood, wood shingles, gutters and garage doors removed. New siding, gutters, garage doors, shutters installed. New caulking done.

Bill Christie came to our home and fully explained Johnson County Window and Siding's philosophy of doing business. We looked at other companies providing these services, but several things, including JoCo's reputation, made our decision pretty easy. I remember after Bill left our home (and I had already signed a contract) I panicked, thinking, 'I forgot to stipulate the quality of paint to be used. If you've bought a new home, you know that they use builder's grade paint, and you have to paint in only two or three years. I shouldn't have worried (and didn't worry about anything else). JoCo uses only the top grade Sherwin Williams Duration paint, best money can buy!! Then there was the price........I was so sure I couldn't afford it. My neighbor guessed our job would cost $30,000, plus guttering and leaf guard. I was stunned when Bill came in at $23,000, INCLUDING guttering, leaf guard and painting. Could have knocked me over with a feather. But the best part of the experience was the job itself. I'm a hands on guy, so with time at home I was able to watch the work progressing. The siding guys were a pleasure to work with, and I was so impressed with the quality and precision of their work. There always a few things that don't go perfectly, but Bill Christie is a hands on guy himself, and frequented our worksite often, most every day, inviting comments, concerns and questions. For example, three of our window screens were damaged (it's inevitable). Bill just scooped them up and returned them two days later, better than new, no charge and no question asked. Our job was to start in late June, but Bill called and asked to start in late May (I guess someone couldn't start right away). I was delighted, thinking that we would miss a much hotter part of the summer, which turned out to be very correct. Our painting crew was fantastic.....in and out so fast we hardly knew they were here. That Sherwin Williams paint should result in a 12-15 year paint job! And the guttering installer hung everything inside of six hours. He solved questions and requests I made that went beyond my expectations. The bottom line...........you must see my home. Get Bill to bring you out and have a look. If he calls me I'll come out and point out some wonderful features he has probably forgotten. And no, there's nothing in it for me.There is only one complaint I have with JoCo Siding. Now that everything is perfect on the outside, I'll have to start working on the inside. Bill, call me when you guys do inside work!!! Thanks JoCo!!!
Description of Work: Johnson County Siding and Window installed siding, guttering and leaf guard on our home. We chose the hardy board (concrete board), which has a 50 year guarantee. JoCo has a regular painting crew, which provided a good service as well.

Those blankety-blank woodpeckers were killing me. I'd had the holes patched/repaired and painted three times and the dratted birds kept coming back. I finally had had enough and contacted several contractors - all well reviewed on Angie's list - to bid fiber cement board siding on the woodpecker side of the house. (Peck through that, suckers!) The first time I met Bill Christie, he told me that he would probably not be the lowest bidder, but that he would be competitive. That turned out to be the case. His offer was not the lowest, but it was certainly in line with his competition. I chose his bid in part because of his professional demeanor and knowledge of the work involved, but the biggest factor is that he seemed intent on delivering a quality experience. He told me exactly what he would offer to do and better yet, why those were his choices. In short, he seemed very trustworthy. It turned out that he more than lived up to my initial impression, and he and his crew went out of their way to deliver the best job they could. At one point, I discovered a mistake that the installers had made. Anyone can make a mistake, right? So I called Bill, and he was at my house within the hour. He looked over the situation and without hesitation apologized and committed to making it right. No grumps, no groans, no fuss, and no attempt to wiggle. Without hesitation, he just stepped up to do the right thing. His attitude and demeanor so impressed me I asked him to bid the rest of the house. We reached a new agreement and the rest of the job was completed with what I can only describe as excellence. Cleo, the lead installer, and his guys (two brothers) cleaned up all of their mess each and every day, and picked up and packed up all of their tools as well. Not just at the end of the job - daily! They were unfailingly friendly and polite to me and my family and were clearly committed to doing a professional job. Those guys are Bill's greatest assets, without a doubt.Well, it sounds like I'm gushing, and I'm usually not this enthusiastic in my endorsements. In fact, it takes something exceptional (good or bad) to get me to write a review, but I really am delighted with the experience. The only thing that could have made it better would have been to get the job for free, but you get what you pay for. In summary, I would heartily recommend JCW&S without reservation or hesitation. And I'm not even related to the guy!
Description of Work: JCS&W patched some woodpecker holes and then installed new house wrap and fiber cement board siding (CertainTeed) on the back and sides of my house and repaired some wood rot on the windows. They also painted the new siding, matching the existing color on the front of the house.

The job started out well on a friday. They tore off and deposited shingles in trailer parked in our drive. They finished the front and cleaned up and left. When they returned monday they started to wrap house and I asked about the foam backing and they had to call in about that and was told ,yes it was in the bid, Problem was they didn't have it on hand. The crew left and came back on tuesday with the foam. At that time I asked the crew leader if he was aware that the back was to be done also ? He wasn't aware of that .They did get someone to start the tearoff. Next the corner trim was not the right one so we had to wait until the next day for that to arrive. Thursday and friday they finished the job. The finished product looks very nice and we have received several compliments .
Description of Work: Removed old wood shingles. Used house wrap and foam folded backing and sided house with certainteed vinyl shingles .

Johnson County Siding and Window Company's Bill Christie Gave me a detailed quote and answered all my questions about his company, workers, materials, colors and installation methods. Bill explained his company was VSI certified and explained what that entailed. Bill gave a very no pressure attitude which I really liked. The job was done in the time frame promised and his workers seemed to be friendly and available to answer any questions. Bill also made several trips to my home during the installation also answering my questions and assuring me of the completion date. The only complaint I might have is that the gutter guys that installed my new gutters used profane language loud enough for my wife to hear. I reported this to Bill and he apologized for it and said that these folks did not work for him but were contracted and he would say something to the contractor in charge of them. After the job was complete Bill and I walked around my house inspecting the job, and explained the warranty and care of the siding and also made sure that I had his contact information and told me to call any time I have a concern or question. .

I had several estimates done on my house, and Johnson County siding was in the ballpark of the other estimates. I chose them because Angie's List ranked them so high above the others. I was, and still am very pleased with the service and the results. When an issue of concern was raised, Bill Christie immediately got in touch with me. I didn't have to wait hours, just a minute or 2. I realized my perception on how a few items should be worked around may have been different than the professionals. I took pictures and emailed them to Bill. He would immediately contact me to indicate he would correct the issue, or explain why the installation was done a certain way. Overall I am very satisfied and would contract with them in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: I bought my home new, and the Masonite siding on the home was installed by Richard Mathers Builders. After numerous estimates, the conclusion from the estimaters was that the siding was installed improperly, causing water to seep into the siding. On one side of the house, I had extensive termite damage (2 years before I had the home termite) the only thing covering the wall was the paint. Once the paint was broken threw I realized the damage was extensive . The siding on another section of the house was mushy. I decided to replace all of the siding versus patching due to the uncertainty of the integrity of the siding.

The folks we worked with then were great and some of them - including owner Bill Christie - are still around. Put simply, they are polite, professional, and do good work. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Johnson County Siding & Window is a company you can count on - and they have the longevity to prove it.
Description of Work: I've worked with Johnson County Siding & Window several times over the years. We initially had our home sided and windows replaced around 10 years ago. We've had them back a couple time since for repair work (life happens) - most notably due to the 2011 spring hail storm that did so much damage in the Kansas City area.

We are really pleased with this project. This company coordinated with an insulation company (at our request) and also allowed us to put the project on hold for several months when my husband lost his job. We had one communication issue at the beginning of the project (that's the B rating for professionalism) but they worked really hard to fix the issue and make sure things got back on track. From that time forward, the communication was great. We were kept informed about what was happening and all our questions were answered promptly. The work is high quality and was reviewed in detail upon completion. I would definitely recommend JoCo Windows and Siding - we had a great experience with Justin Christie.
Description of Work: Fiber Cement siding was installed on the sides and back of our house. They also wrapped the soffits and fascia on the entire house.

Door replacement went very well. The carpenter who performed the work was very experienced. He did a good job of carefully removing interior trim to avoid any damage to the interior wall. He extracted the old door using a reciprocating saw and made quick work of it. He got the new door into the frame and went to work. He used shims to properly align the door and then he used spray-foam to properly insulate around the door. Having watched enough home repair shows on TV, I knew these were good signs. Once the door was in, the new interior trim was installed. When finished, he cleaned-up the work site and hauled-off the old door. I inspected the door to feel for drafts and the carpenter helped to caulk one draft at the base of the door step. The only hiccup was that the door arrived without a deadbolt. They immediately contacted me and let me know that they would fix it and about 1 week later they did. Once again, very professionally installed and it looks great. After one month of cold weather, we haven't noticed any drafts around the back patio door. Already, we've noticed the rooms around the back patio door are warmer this winter. We've used the door multiple times to access our back patio, and the bulb seal around the door is working great. We love the door and are very happy with the work.
Description of Work: Installed a new ProVia steel back patio door in my house. Removed and hauled-off the old, drafy wood door.

They are a very good company to work with. They are very honest about how busy they are so we knew it would take awhile to have the job completed after the order was sent in. After the work was done they done a complete inspection to make sure the job was done right and cleanup was done. We are very pleased with them and will use them again.

We called Johnson County Siding to receive an estimate to replace hail damage to our home. We received a timely and very competitive estimate to replace the damaged siding and gutters. We were concerned about the siding matching and Johnson County Siding assured us they would get very close to the unreplaced siding. They did an outstanding job. It is hard to tell there is new siding on only the front and one side of our home. The work crews were very professional and polite! Justin was our contact and he was great to work with; very responsive and accurate about when our job would begin and be completed. This was a great experience and we will use Johnson County for any work we need done in the future.

Johnson County Siding and Window Company originally installed vinyl siding on our home in 2003. At that time they also installed a new exterior door, storm door and six new windows. Last year we had them back to install an additional exterior door. When the hail storm hit our area this past April, we only contacted Johnson County Siding and Window Company for an estimate. We have been so pleased with their work in the past that we knew we only wanted them to complete the repair work needed. All of the siding and metal trim on the west side of our home needed to be replaced. We also had one slightly damaged window, so we decided to go ahead and replace all of the windows on the west side. They were extremely busy due to storm repairs, yet they called to schedule installation within the time period they had quoted. The new siding went up perfectly, but the window installation hit a snag due to the construction and installation of our original windows. Instead of making do, our salesman, Justin, ordered four new windows so they would exactly replace the originals. Again, we waited exactly the amount of time they had quoted. The new windows arrived and were installed but because of the problems with our home's orignal windows, our inside trim work was damaged. If the company had known they would have these problems, they would have quoted us a higher price that included new interior trim. Nevertheless, when Justin saw the problem and heard how unhappy we were, he offered to send a carpenter out to replace the interior trim. Since they had to order windows twice, I know they were not making much money on our job to start with. The fact that they were willing to go another extra mile to insure our satisfaction speaks volumes. The new trim work is great and the windows are fantastic, just like the siding replacement. We still have one more door to replace and a few more windows in the coming years and we will only call Johnson County Siding and Window Company in the future.

Repair of the March hail storm. After checking most window replacement companies in Kansas City area, from the $189 junk, to Anderson and Pella. I settled on Johnson County Siding and Windows. Justin Christie, member of family owned business, came out and met with my wife and I, he looked at our existing windows and then he brought in samples and multi window types from various manufacturing companies. He left those samples and the information with us to look at over the weekend and made set a time to pick the stuff up the next week. When he called to be sure we would be home, and scheduled around our calender we met one evening and Justin again went thru the house with us looking at the various windows and sizes. We sat down and discussed the windows wife and I were interested in and the colors. Justin then walked thru the house again with us and measured and made notes on paper so that there would be no issue with the windows not fitting. He then excused himself and went to his truck to figure the cost of each window , installation included. Upon his return he went over each room to be sure he had all windows and our color choice correct. Justin then went over his estimate and explained the process on installation, the cost of each window, some were replacing large fixed picture windows, and then explained the warranty (life time) and discounts, INCLUDING any repair work that needed to be done because of wood rot in the old wood windows or floor under the door to be replaced. After asking all the questions we could think of and Justin answering all of them we agreed to have Johnson County Siding and Windows install our windows and selected Simonton Windows. Justin told us that it would take 6-8 week for the windows to be .made and scheduled for installation. Bill Christie, the owner, called us at the beginning of the 8th week and said the windows were in and when could they install them. We had painters doing the outside of the house and would not be thru for a couple of days so Bill scheduled the installation after the painters would be thru. Windows were delivered and stored in our garage and two days later Bill called and said they would be there on Thursday to begin installation. Installation day came and Bill, the company owner, was there to get the crew started and go over everything. Thru out the day Bill and Justin were at the house checking on the installation. Ed, their carpenter, was there and began taking out the old door and repairing the floor and installing the new door and storm door. Everything was checked and double checked by the owner of the company, Bill Christie. Everything was installed and checked, there was no damage to the new paint on the house. The old windows and storms along with all trash was picked up each day and disposed of. I WOULD RECOMMEND JOHNSON COUNTY SIDING AND WINDOWS WITHOUT HESITATION, AND STAKE MY REPUTATION ON IT BECAUSE THEY DO. IF YOU NEED WINDOWS OR SIDING CONTACT THEM YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. Do not settle for cheap windows that you will have to replace after the sun warps and fades them in 2 years.
