Fantastic job from start to finish. Quick response and turn around time - a lot of contractors string you along for months, which was definitely not the case here. The granite was affordable and looks amazing. I'm so happy with the finished product!

After we purchased our new home, I got several bids for replacement of the granite countertops. Of the 5 bids received, Mike's was not only the lowest, but I felt the most comfortable with him. He was very knowledgeable about the choices and installation, was mannerly and efficient, and had a great team in place. We chose our granite from a warehouse, and it was evident to me that Mike has a great working relationship with the granite company; he was well-respected. This made us feel even more comfortable with our choice to use Granite Direct. I ordered the sink, faucet, and water dispenser myself, and Mike picked up the cutting template for the sink when it arrived. All calls and emails were promptly returned. On the day of installation, the team was very careful to preserve the tile backsplash, which I didn't want to replace. Although there was no guarantee this would work, they were careful and managed to get the old countertop off without damage. The sink I chose was a VERY heavy French sink, and Mike's installers spent a couple of hours building in extra supports for the sink to ensure that it would be stable for years to come. Mike dropped by the jobsite and helped carry in the 2 large slabs of granite, and checked on the work done before and after. The guys did a really nice job caulking as well. My water dispenser had been delayed in shipping, so one of Mike's team stopped by a week later, and installed it, free of charge. One other thing I will mention...there was a younger guy on the team, who was obviously newer to the job. He said a curse word (s__t) in front of my 3 small kids during the installation. The team lead, Chris, reprimanded him before I could even address it, and had him apologize. This is the type of care and professionalism that epitomizes Mike's team. They were a class act, and I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again.

Granite was left about 1/2 inch away from the wall. When I called in a tile person to finish the job he was surprised at how far the granite was from the wall. He stated that he would have to use a metal track to install the tile which we do not want. Also the dishwasher was re-installed very poorly. It will have to be re-done.

A year after the installation. I noticed there was a chip in the granite and they had epoxy'd the chip back together. The only reason I noticed it was that the epoxy was coming out. He said it was not his fault and it was the manufacturers fault. I wanted them to replace it. After going back and forth with him, he finally decided to help us. The repair job he did was terrible. The colors are off and it is rough to the touch. When we told him we were unhappy with the repair, he told us to never contact him again.
Description of Work: He was supposed to replace the granite in the kitchen and laundry room.

I got several estimates for the replacement of our kitchen counter tops and sink. Not only was Mike's estimate the lowest, but he seemed to be very knowledgeable. And he was fine with my wanting to do the backsplash replacement work myself. He gave me ideas on how this would best be done, with the timing of the counter top replacement. As I visited the granite warehouses in our area to chose our slab, I could tell by the people who worked at these warehouses that Mike is very well thought of. He accompanied me to one of these warehouses and told me of three others to visit on my own. He even dropped off a sample piece from a recent job that I was considering for our kitchen. Finally, I chose two matching slabs and put them on hold. After notifying Mike, he put the ball into motion and I had nothing further to do than to wait for our scheduled installation date which came up quickly. A blizzard postponed the date by one week, as our driveway was impassable. One week later, right on schedule the installers were here and began to work their magic. The end result is beautiful. What I most liked about working with Mike is his small-town values of trust, politeness and strong work ethic. It was a pleasurable, seamless experience.

When we purchased our new home, we found the kitchen needed a face lift. The real estate agent suggested we get a granite allowance and gave us Mike's name as a good installer. Mike came to measure and showed me granite samples during our inspection. His pricing was very reasonable. The inspection was the last time I was able to view the house in the planning process. I had a very difficult time making decisions, and Mike was quite flexible with me. We had a very strict time and money budget to stick to, as it was written into the contract. I found a tile that I really loved, but it turned out was about $350 over budget. He told me he would give me a discount so that it was at budget. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) we were not there for the installation process, so I can't speak to the way the installation process went. Upon moving in, we found a few things that needed to be fixed. First was that the sink was leaking. It appeared that everything had not been properly put back together. The second was there was a chip in the granite - about the diameter of a pea. I called Mike and he promptly sent a guy out to fix the issues. The worker was quickly able to fix the leaky sink. He then spent about an hour and a half trying to fix the chip. He ended up telling me that he was unable to do it and that they would have to send someone else out. It was a bit of a process, but in the end it was all fixed. The one slight issue I did have is he was slow to respond to emails at times. That didn't deter me from hiring Mike again. We had him come back to do a half bath counter top. It was a small job, but it was done quickly and efficiently.
Description of Work: Kitchen granite, backsplash, sink, and faucet installation. We also had them come back to install a bathroom counter, sink, and faucet.

The Owner of Granite Direct (Mike Swyers) came out to a flip house I own in Lee's Summit, took measurements and provided a quote. Mike was about $200.00 cheaper than 2 other bids. He is a very nice person, and answered all my questions. About two days later three of his workers came out and installed the countertops which included four separate sections with one sink cut out. The fabrication was done onsite and it was really interesting to watched these guys work. They all knew exactly what doing and worked together like a well-oiled machine. They did a perfect job - I have tried but can't find a flaw. You really have look closely to even see the seams. They were finished in one day and were all very nice. About three weeks later I was installing a bathroom countertop myself with a ceramic countertop. I needed to cut out holes for the sink drain and faucet and looked around for a 1 5/8" ceramic bit. The cheapest one I found was about $50.00. I called Mike again to see what he would charge to make the cuts for me and told him I could bring the countertop by a job site where his crew was working. He said it would be about $20 - $25 and said he would send the crew by my house on their way home. They stopped by the next day and when they were finished, they told me there was NO CHARGE. I even tried to give them a tip (several times) and they refused. It is very rare to find an Owner who is so friendly and to have employees who are as dedicated and passionate about their work. If are shopping for a countertop, do yourself a favor and at least get a bid from Granite Direct.
Description of Work: I can't say enough good things about this company. I had already purchased the granite countertop material from a building surplus store and Mike (the Owner of Granite Direct) had no reservations about picking up the countertop from the store and installing it. I learned that Granite Direct also supplies the same countertop (I don't know about other materials such as solid surface and laminate), I wish I had gotten a price from him for the granite.
