DW Elite decks screened in our covered deck. this was an existing deck with 6x6 cedar posts, covered and approx. 12 feet off the ground. They did an excellent job making the new deck blend with the old and with great attention to detail and craftsmanship. They extended the 6x6 cedar railings to the ceiling 12 feet up, screened with a high quality screen. We also had the underside of the deck screened to eliminate all possible insect entry. they placed screen between the studs and held in place with 2x2 trim work.
Overall they did a very good job and in a timely manner, 2 days start to finish. While their cost will be slightly more that other companies that I researched, the value and quality is much greater. You get what you pay for, and we received a lot for our investment.
Dan Milford, came to our house to give us an estimate, this was a quick process, and he had us the estimate/quote the next day. We paid exactly as he said and he had no extra charges.
You will realize with their builds they don't staple the screens to the structure, but use a bracket for the screen with rubber spline
, and cover all brackets/hardware with trim work. their decks have great visual depth, look complete, and look and have a great feel of quality
I would use them again, and highly recommend DW Elite decks if looking for an outdoor project where quality is your driving factor

DW Decks was great to work with. Dan was very knowledgeable and helped design the perfect deck to meet our needs. He was very quick to respond and set everything up quickly. They did an excellent job. They were meticulous with the entire project as this was custom and required some special adjustments . They started early and worked late. The jobsite was spotless when they were done. We are 100% satisfied!

We had a great experience with DW Elite Decks!
Dan, the owner, was a great communicator. This crew arrived on time when Dan indicated. He responded to emails promptly.
The crew was open to questions and were professional throughout the project. They cleaned up the area when they left, leaving a well built screened in porch!
I had seen the work of DW Elite Decks from a major project they completed at a friends house, and I knew this was the company I wanted to use for our project. Their craftsmanship is excellent.
This is a great company who takes care of their employees. I highly recommend DW Elite Decks.

Dan knows and employs customer service to the nth degree. He was very professional and responsive. He kept me appraised of the installation schedule. When their schedule opened up, he sent an email telling me when supplies would be delivered and where. We had discussion about the best location. Dan notified me of the hour the supplies were to be here and they were. So was Dan. The crew arrived early, worked efficiently and did a great job. They were pleasant and worked efficiently to install the project in 1 1/2 days. The deck was finished on a cold day. Dan sent an email to remind me they had hosed off the deck and it would be slippery. It was but I was warned.
This was a small project compared to many of the photos I've seen of other work they've done. The service and care was first class nonetheless.

We decided to add a large deck and screened porch to our home. After interviewing a few contractors, we chose DW Elite Decks. Dan's quote and explanation of options were thorough and complete. The crew was always prompt and cleaned up after themselves on a daily basis and did a wonderful job of building with an excellent attention to detail. Dan kept in constant contact with me via email or phone whenever he encountered a question or suggestion and was responsive to a few changes that I wanted as construction went along. I can't wait until spring to enjoy our awesome deck! Thanks for a wonderful experience! I would recommend DW Elite to anyone who wants a fantastic deck or porch.

I requested a bid from DW Decks because of their ratings and awards on Angie's List. I chose them because of their responsiveness to my bid request, because their bid was very competitive, and because I was impressed with what I heard and saw during my visit to their showroom. Suffice to say that I decided to write this comment because the finished deck so splendidly met my hopes and expectations. Additionally, I would be remiss not to mention just how impressive the team?s work ethic and professionalism were. The sounds of steady construction were continuous from their early arrival until lunch and through the afternoon; and peaks out the window saw nothing but heads down, tools in action, all diligently working in concert on their respective parts of the whole. It turned out amazing I couldn't be more pleased with it. I gave Dan my ideas for my deck along with some of his ideas and pointers and had it built in about a week. He designed my deck got all the permits and gave me a fair honest proposal in a timely manner. They started on time and finished when they said they would. I defiantly recommend DW Elite Decks they are very professional and master craftsman. They do Excellent work and I wouldn't use anybody else.

We had a wonderful experience with Elite Decks. We met with Wes who walked us through the deck process and gave us recommendations. He also had us come out to the showroom to better understand the building materials to be used. He was specific about the design and made very useful recommendations. Wes also offered several options for the final design at different price points, which was very helpful. We requested that the deck be built by a date certain and they made that happen. The builders showed up by 8:00 am every day and were done between 5:00 and 5:30. The employees all wore similar shirts so you knew they were with Elite Decks. They were courteous and willing to answer questions. If they did not know the answer, they called someone at the home office, who returned our call that day. The crew was professional and on time everyday. Several neighbors commented on the professionalism and punctuality of the crew that worked on the deck. The crew also cleaned up the work site daily. If the crew ran into any problems, we were contacted by Dan who explained the issue and the estimated or actual cost of the work to be done. Dan then confirmed all information in writing and was willing to answer any questions. We ran into a few problems with the existing deck and the crew and home office kept us informed and did excellent work to make the necessary repairs. The deck is beautifully done and has been such a great addition to our home. The design included two gates that are fantastic for our toddler. The deck looks great and feels very safe. Wes came out for the final walk through and made sure everything was to our liking. Elite Decks was very knowledgeable about the city codes and made sure the deck met current code and scheduled the inspection with the city. We absolutely love the deck and would absolutely recommend using Elite Decks.

The work went well and we were quite pleased with the end product. The crew who did the work were had obviously done this before and went about their individual tasks with little need for direction from the job foreman. On those rare occasions when a question did arise, usually from me, the foreman was quick to respond with an answer. The operations manager for DW was on the job site each day to insure that everything was going OK and that I was satisfied with progress.
As another mark of ttheir professionalism the construction crew always left the job site tidy at the end of the day and on the one weekend of the project life they restacked the rather large pile of lumber that had been staged in our driveway to make sure that we would have full access to our garage ---- a real plus for us.
The only glitch in the project was a leak that developed at a point where the new porch roof adjoined the existing roof line. The leak was intermittent and therefore hard to find. But the roofing contractor was persistent in his efforts to discover the source of the problem and after maybe half a dozen visits apparently fixed it. The spring rains this year will tell if he was successful.

The crew consisted of five men were here every day at dawn to start work and finished in less than five days to tear down an existing deck and construct a deck approximately 450 sq ft with pergola. The crew worked effectively as a team and demonstrated a high level of professionalism. We really appreciated the fact that they coordinated directly with the city of Leawood for building code compliance with no issues encountered.
We've had many compliments from friends and neighbors on the overall design and construction.
The only complaint we have was with some of the materials. We wished that the foreman on the site had rejected some of the irregular decking boards. We realize that would have slowed them down, but they should have insisted that the lumber supplier deliver better quality decking (pressure treated pine). You can tell that better decking pieces were used at the beginning but they settled for lesser quality towards the end of the project. We did complain about this issue, but it was not settled to our satisfaction.
After the job was done for each day, the crew cleaned up the area and took all their tools. When the overall job was done, the crew removed all debris and left the area clean. Some nails and screws were scattered about in the yard, but overall the clean up was good.
Overall, we were satisfied with the job and would recommend DW Elite but with the advice to make sure all materials are of the same consistent quality. Their cost for the job was competitive and comparable with the other contractors with high scores on Angie's List.

Finished deck is of very high quality and looks great. Crew was professional, courteous, and punctual. Work was done in a timely manner. Permitting was included and professionally handled with the city (Overland Park). Flashing and pvc trim was installed along the deck-house interface to prohibit water entry/damage. Some existing rotted wood resulting from the poorly installed previous deck was replaced. I would highly recommend DW Elite Decks to anyone looking for a high quality deck at a fair price. Be aware that the price will most likely not be the lowest.

PERFECT! BEST DECK COMPANY EVER! Just as the shopping/selection/purchase/installation/cleanup of my new deck back in March 2012 was delivered with the highest quality, professionalism and personal attention, so was my request for this company to come back, power wash and stain my relatively new deck with the highest quality, oil based, professional staining products I requested. I wanted to ensure my initial investment in this new deck will last for years. DW Elite Decks is the best, most personable, company I've worked with. All of their workers are employees and most have worked with this company for 10+ years. They work as a team, fast & efficient. When they leave, you can't tell they were here. Clean up services are incredible! The work is incredible. I would highly recommend this company to anyone for any type of deck work or building they are seeking. You get what you pay for! I am so happy with my new deck and its quality. The old deck was put on by the builder 15 years ago and was literally falling apart. After watching DW's crew build our new one, I am amazed that the original one even passed city inspection for new structures. DW measured, measured again, then remeasured while building. They leveled everything countless times, vertically and horizontally. They worked together like a well oiled machine - everyone had a specific job to do, and everyone did it. There was no lollygagging around.....these guys were busy constantly, and during cleanup, scoured the ground for any little scraps of anything to be found. My new deck is a thing of excellent, excellent construction and supreme beauty. It's cedar with black aluminum spindles, and perfectly gorgeous. Very pleased with DW and won't hesitate to recommend them to even the pickiest of people.
Several weeks later - our painter asked for the name of who built our deck. Said it was the best looking and well made deck he's seen. It goes to say, we passed along Dan and We's name.

A few contact issues throughout the waiting period and build. Very nice guys running the business: Wes and Dan were very accomodating throughout the sales cycle, but I think there is a need for more detailed notes and to keep better files on build information. The issues or slight complications were adjusted and overall the build went well and the project looks good.

During the demolition there was a structural issue found with an unrelated part of the house which increased the original bid ($44,500) by $12K. That addition was made in writing and approved by us.
The workmanship on the deck and the entire project is flawless, the deck is beautiful, all issues were handled at completion and we are in love with our deck.
However when we were presented the final invoice at the completion of the deck the final price was $25K more then originally bid, $13K more then the changes made in writing. A few thousand of this was permits and work done to get the permits which were not ever bid to us or given to us until the last day. The rest was all noted on the invoice as verbally approved date/time. Part of this was my fault for not writing down every single change and cost that we had agreed to but some of these changes were agreed to without giving us a cost so to say we were surprised by the added expense at the end of the project was an understatement.

They made an absolutely wonderful job. It's top quality decking. They did an excellent job. I was a little bit satisfied because they had to dig a new footing and put concrete and they didn't spread the dirt out. They left a clump of dirt and I didn't like it, they came and they broke up the dirt and spread it evenly in the low areas of my yard. I have no complaints. They made a very beautiful deck. The price was not cheap, I didn't expect to pay that much.

Overall service experience Good. Price Good except I thought the fee to get the permit was a little bit high. But they were having a little bit of trouble getting the county to give out the permit. Quality was good.Responsiveness was good. We would recommend them to our friends and are satisfied with their product.Punctually was good and professulism was good.
