called up and set up the appointment. They came at the time they told me they would be there. They called me so I could meet them. The job was done quickly, they cleaned up after themselves and everything went well.
Description of Work: I take care of several rental properties. This one had a tub drain plug that had been broken by the tenant and the house is over 50 years old so there can be problems with old pipes. The tech gave me both the best case and worst case price. In the end the job was not hard for him and the tub has a new stopper drain like I asked for and looks nicer than it did before.

It went great. Nice young man. If yoy notice a leak get it check reight away. Get several estimates and ask lots of questions on how they will fix it.
Description of Work: I had just noticed a small leak in some exposed cast iron drain pipes in my garage a few days earlier. These were originally installed in about 1965. I had called three companies for estimates. The first two had been out and one had provided an estimate on the spot. I awaiting the third (Andy's Pipe Dream) when my small leak truned into a large leak with a great deal of sewage coming out. Coincidentally, Andy's representative arrived as previously scheduled just after the big leak happened. He wrote up an estimate which was about half only other estimate and then reduced that by the Angie's List 10% discount. The 3rd company never provided one. We gave the go ahead and he finished the job much quicker than he had anticipated in a very professional manner. He demolished the old bad pipes and then had to get a few supplies. He returned in about 30 minutes and finished up. The really good part is that since he finished so quickly he reduced his original estimated price by another $200. He didn't have to do that! I was very pleasantly surprized. I will not hesitate should I need a plumber again to call Andy's Pipe Dream.

I think they did a really good job when they were out here, the only residual thing that we had, was that since they replaced the sewer line, there's a humongous bump in our lawn and they said it was supposed to settle back down, but it's been three months and it hasn't done anything. We may have to actually go back and try and smooth that down ourselves, but other than that, I don't know how they would've packed it down again, or moving some of the dirt. That's the only things that I would say that would be nice to have an improvement over, but overall it was good.

We definitely aren't very good landscapers, that's for sure. Unfortunately when you have to bring in heavy equipment to dig up someones yard it really shows. When we backfill the excavated area we usually have a mound of dirt there when finished. Over time it does settle. If we remove the mound of dirt it will eventually become a low spot. These are all things that we explain ahead of time to avoid surprising people. In this situation we actually spoke with the husband prior to doing the job while he was out of the country. His wife was home and we really never had a chance to go over these details with her. After seeing this review I called this client and he was very nice about everything. I gave him a few pointers on things to speed up the process and he was happy. We will make sure we call him again here later in the summer to make sure everything is progressing good.

The whole experience was great. Chad was on time. He looked at the faucet and knew right away it was fixable. He gave the cost and went right to work. He had it fixed within 20 minutes. He was very friendly and personable. We had another company come out and quote us on the same issue and they told us they could only replace it and it was going to be double the money. We have used the faucet several times now and it works great. We wil, definitely be using them again.

Late in the evening before the arrival of out-of-town company, I discovered that the toilet in my guest bathroom would not stop running. I called two other plumbers early the next morning and was told there was no way to get someone to my house that day to fix my toilet. I had read about Andy's Pipe Dream and also saw them listed on Angie's List and decided to try them. The answering service said it was unlikely that anyone could come but took my message and within 15 minutes Andy (the owner of the company) returned my phone call. Though he doesn't typically make house calls any more, Andy told me he would come to my house and see what the problem was. He got to my house within 90 minutes and determined that I needed a new flapper. Because it was a "specialty" flapper, Andy needed to go to a plumbing supply house to get the part. He picked up the part, returned to my house and fixed the problem. He was extremely nice, very helpful, and fixed my running toilet before my guests arrived that afternoon. I appreciate very, very much his willingness to help me with my plumbing problem. He was awesome to work with! I will definitely call him again.

I remember this job well. I just won't leave someone hanging if I can help it. We were extremely busy that day, but I knew I could get her up and running quickly if I could get there. She worked with us well to let us come over right away to see what we could do. I'm glad we were able to ease her stress a little that day. Thanks.

Andy's helped turn a disaster into something that was resolved quickly. This started with drains and sewers backing up in the basement. We had called another plumber who came out and cleared the drain, did video, and then advised that the sewer line was sheared off. They gave us three estimates for what the repair might cost, but wouldn't be definitive about what it was going to take. Their estimates ranged from $2800 to $7500, depending on what they found, and they wouldn't explain how they'd make the determination, or even bill for the work. A second plumber (also not Andy's) told us it would be $4800 and included a long list of exceptions. We called Andy's late one afternoon, and they came out first thing the next morning. They advised that we should have the video redone (since the first plumber didn't give us a copy) Andy's was very helpful in arranging for the video (the same night as when Andy's came out to look at the problem). With a good video job, Andy's was able to tell exactly where the line was broken, and that the flattened section would need to be repaired as well. They were also able to determine that the repair could be hand dug, instead of hiring an excavator. The project involved moving the air conditioning condenser. Andy's arranged for a contractor to move the air conditioning condenser. They then performed the repair in a little over a day (working late into the evening of the first day), and had the air conditioning contractor come out and get the A/C running again. What I really liked is Andy's had us pay the other contractors directly rather than marking up their costs. The whole job went very smoothly, with Andy's arranging for services I would have had to try to arrange myself. Andy's was very straightforward in explaining the problems and the options in a way that made me confident I was making the right choices. They were willing to go the extra mile, willing to talk with me in the evenings to keep things going, and willing to work late to minimize the invconvenience to us.
Description of Work: Demolished a portion of a stud wall to gain access to the work area. Jackhammered out concrete. Dug down to sewer line inside and outside the house. Repaired a broken sewer line and replaced a flattened section of sewer line. Restored the fill and patched concrete inside the house and backfilled excavation outside the house. Arranged for other contractors needed on project.

Due to the location of a clean out, only way to work on this drain was to remove the toilet and snake from the flange level. I had just installed the toilet and didn't want to pay the money they quoted to remove and reinstall the toilet that I had just installed. They attempted to use a smaller hand drain cleaner and that seemed to do the job, but ultimately just moved the clog. When it became apparent that this was turning into a job they didn't have the equipment to do, they recommended another company who came out and did the job.

In short, it went fantastic. We called several places listed here. I chose Andy's Pipe Dream partly because they could send someone the same day, but also because Andy took the time to listen to the issue, and give some preliminary advice. Chad (the serviceman who was sent) arrived on-time. He was friendly and professional. He explained what the potential causes could be. He was honest and forthright when explaining that he was not 100% sure that his remedy would completely fix the problem. The solution was removing some excess shut-offs that were causing a restriction in the plumbing. I decided to go ahead with his recommendation. It worked. The plumbing is quiet. The pressure is better. I thought the price was fair. I would absolutely hire them again.
Description of Work: We had excess noise in our plumbing and a general lack of pressure when multiple lines were in use. The problems had developed after we installed a sink in the garage ourselves. The problems have been on-going for at least a year. Without knowing the specific problem, we were looking for someone to come out and diagnose the noise and pressure issues and quote us a price.

Since we have lived in this house we have not been able to shut the water off ourselves. I sent a non-emergency email late on a Thursday evening requesting an estimate to replace the inoperable gate valve, and install a water pressure regulator. By 9 am the next day the Andy called and an appointment was made for 2 pm that same afternoon. Chad arrived on schedule and an estimate was agreed upon. Our house is 52 years old so there were a few time consuming issues that came up during the repair. A shallow patch of the basement wall around the water line had to be chipped away in order to extend the water line the few inches needed. The inoperable gate valve was removed and replaced with a ball valve. The repair took about 90 minutes more than the anticipated time, but Chad stuck to his original cost estimate. Chad tested the water pressure, which was found to be within normal tolerance. Hence, his recommendation was no pressure regulator was necessary. I appreciated being treated with integrity. Later that day we discovered the volume of water available at the indoor and outdoor faucets was greater, which is a good thing. The vintage gate valve was restricting the amout of water. The new ball valve is unrestricted in the open position. Andy's honored the 10 percent discount coupon from Angie's List. At my request, Chad estimated a couple of other smaller plumbing tasks I had in mind, but the price didn't seem that reasonable to me, so I passed, but that is what estimates are for. I would not hesitate to call on Andy's Pipe Dream again in the future.
Description of Work: Replace an inoperable gate valve in the water line, directly from the city water meter, in the basement. The basement wall was pressing on the 90 degree elbow, hence the lateral line had to be extended a few inches to complete the work.

I paid between $300-$500. They did a really good job. They were courteous and they came on time. I was very happy with them. They did a really fabulous job. He came and gave me an estimate after I called him. He did the job right away. He was really good. I would recommend them. They talked to me about what kind of faucet was good to have on the outside. The newer faucets have things on them which don't allow them to freeze. He was very good about explaining all of that and he was very thorough. The price was very reasonable considering that I took the top of the line faucets. He was very good and I would use them again.

The service was fast and exactly the right fix. Andy was able to get Chad out to our house very quickly. Chad was very friendly and knowledgable. We had used another plumber for other issues in our house, and we felt his prices were too high. So I called Andy's Pipe Dream to see if they could fix the leak. Andy was very fast. I called one day and he was out the next. He wasn't sure what he would need to do, but said he'd start by taking a look. He deduced the options were - 1-trying to clean out the "blocked" portion of the drain 2-replacing the floor drain. Suggested we try cleaning it out first - as it would be very inexpensive and that it often takes care of the problem. It didn't work. So plan 2 was to replace - which meant coming back the next day (needed to bring another person to cut up the concrete floor and then re-pour the floor.) The quote was less than half the cost of what ABMay was going to bill us. They were prompt, fast, tidy and courteous. Andy also quoted us to re-direct the AC condensation - he offered various solutions for us 2 of which were very inexpensive and even suggested how we could do it ourselves (surprising because he'd lose the business) We opted for the more complicated route of digging up the concrete and having the line meet up with the floor drain under the concrete - They did this for a fraction of the cost of ABM and it looks fantastic!! No more hose draped across the floor to meet the drain!! The concrete work was noisy - but he told us it would be. They were fast and cleaned up after themselves. Andy even remembered that we were Angie's list members and took off our angies list discount - Something I didn't even think of or remember. He also gave us some referrals for other tradesmen we were looking to use for other projects we're working on. We trust those referrals and will use them! We'd definitely use Andy again and refer others to him as well.
Description of Work: We had a floor drain in our basement that continually backed up and created a large area of 1" standing water - We had used AB May in the past to "fix" it. They told us part of the drain was blocked and needed to be replaced - Andy's replaced our floor drain and also added a drain under the concrete floor from the AC condensing unit to the floor drain.

In a day where prompt, courteous customer service is rare to find, Andy returned my call immediately. He had great listening skills, was quick to determine how he could help and then offered to schedule a time to fix the water issue. He sent Chad to work on the faucet. Chad was detained at another customer's house but called to make me aware and called again when he was on his way. Delays happen and I appreciate Chad's courtesy in letting me know he was running late. Chad was professional, thorough, quick and careful to do a good job. I ask lots of questions and he answered all my concerns completely and spent as much time as I needed to understand the mechanics of the water issue. The price was very reasonable for what was done. I like to do as much of my remodeling as I can. Chad was very respectful of me as a woman, amateur remodeler and gave me tips on that process. I couldn't have asked for better service. I have other plumbing projects that I will call this company to do. Great job Andy and Chad!
Description of Work: Just installed new faucets in remodeled shower. There was no hot water. Chad arrived 4/10/2012 to give estimate and perform work. As it turned out the list of things to be done couldn't be completed that day, so the work was rescheduled for a couple days later. Chad showed up on time reverified the list of projects to complete and then proceeded to work through the list of tasks we'd agreed to tackle. Resetting the toilet was a surprise add-on as no one knew the bolts holding the toilet to the floor weren't there. Once the work was completed he showed/explained to me what he had done. he decided to check the water pressure to the house and discovered it was high, so he left to get a pressure reducing valve, then returned and installed it. He spent approximately 8 hours working through the list of projects and was friendly and professional. He was happy to explain what he was doing and why at any given stage of work.
Description of Work: Replace disposal in kitchen, reconfigure continuous waste kitchen drain to dual p-trap system, minor toilet rebuild w/ replacement of flush valve on main floor bathrooms, install shut off valves and supplies on master bath sink faucet, minor toilet rebuild on basement toilet, install hot water heater, pull & reset master bath toilet, minor flange repair, install pressure reducing valve.

I called Andy's office about 1:00 pm and within 5 minutes he gave me a call back. We discussed the job and Chad arrived at 3:00. I told Chad about our water pressure problems and my concerns for our appliances. He went outside and checked some things out at our meter, and then came in and explained exactly what was happening and why. He said that I definitely needed a new pressure relief valve, and maybe an expansion tank, but that he would suggest replacing the PRV first and then taking some measurements to see if we still needed the expansion tank. He wrote up a quote for doing each job separately. The PRV replacement was reasonable so I told him to replace it. He did the job quickly and adjusted it properly, and then told me that everything checked out good and I wouldn't need the expansion chamber. Chad is a really nice guy, and Andy's Pipe Dream seems like a good company to work with. I really like the fact that Chad took the time to explain everything to me and didn't try to sell me more stuff than I needed to get the problem fixed. I will definitely call them back for any other plumbing that I need to have done and wouldn't hesitate at all recommending them to my friends. The price came out exactly as I quoted, but I got an extra 10% off because of an Angie's List coupon.

I called Andy at about 8:30 in the morning and Chad was over by 9 am. Chad cleaned out the kitchen drain - which appeared to be heavily clogged. Chad had to bring in two different machines to clean out the drains due to the way it was clogged. After he cleaned out the drain he went to get the parts for my sink and fixed that very quickly. Chad was very clear when explaining all the details before he completed the work. After Chad fixed the bathroom sink, there was no hot water pressure in the sink at all, so I called Andy's Pipe Dream again to see what the cause of that was and Chad was out again the next morning and fixed that at no additional charge! These guys were very customer friendly and did a great job! I would definitely call them again.

I was very pleased with the entire process. I had a leak in the basement near a large vertical pipe. We had no idea of the source of the leak but I suspected it was related to a 2nd floor bathroom, which had recently had a lot of use with out of town guests. Within a fairly short time, Chad determined that the leak was the result of a cut into a pipe when a kitchen remodel was done 1 year ago. He was able to access the pipe from the garage and repair it quickly. He explained everything very clearly and provided estimates before he performed the work. I will definitely use this company for any future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Chad located and repaired a leak which was in the garage wall and leaking down the pipe into the basement.
