Andy's Pipe Dream

We have taken over responsibility of an older home that has been in the family for almost 50 years. The home was built in the 1940s, and other than an addition done prior to 1968 and the addition of central air in 1995, little has been done in the way of upgrading the house. Consequently, the original galvanized steel pipes are in their final days. Although we weren't ready to make a decision on how much we are wanting to take on at this point in time, we were needing to hook up a washer and dryer and the existing set-up looked a little sketchy. We called to see if we could get someone out prior to delivery of the appliances, and even though we were heading into a holiday weekend, they got us on the schedule for Tuesday morning. They were great about understanding that I wasn't even sure what we needed, and they were willing to come out and take a look. Chad arrived promptly and not only replaced the pipes and installed a new shutoff valve, but fixed another leaky pipe in the area, and answered questions about our water heater (replacement options) and remaining plumbing. Although there is obviously a lot of potential work to be completed in the future, we really appreciated the fact that there wasn't pressure to do more work than we were needing to be done for right now and he was great about helping us prioritize future projects based on urgency and affordability. A note about my "B" rating on cost...we have used a major plumbing company in the past, and the price seemed comparable. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for, so I don't have an issue with the charges. I feel they were fair and reasonable. It just seems like saying "Excellent" might be a little misleading depending on your income bracket.

I called about 8:30am and he was at my home by 10:30am. Very prompt, professional and friendly.

No gory or messy details, very neat and organized. Chad tried to clear the stoppage but nothing worked, thus we had to get a new toilet. Later we found out that a doggie ball was creating the problem and was thoroughly wedged into the stool waste line. We know this because Chad later broke it out and we found the ball.

The service provided was outstanding. Done effficiently and in a timely manner, I couldn't have been more pleased with the service. I have used Andy's before and will do so if I have a plumbing need in the future!!!

This is the second time I have used Andy's, and I will continue to do so. My previous job was bigger, and this was just a small leak. However, they were willing to work with my schedule by coming at 7am on a Monday , and Chad was quick to handle things even thought I didn't need the bigger job of replacing the garbage disposal. Because of their professionalism in addressing a small problem, I will definitely use them for the more complicated work I need in the future. They seem to be available quickly after I call, and again, they are flexible in scheduling so you don't always have to take off from your own job to be there. Chad is the best! They also give the Angie's list discount for more than just your first appointment.

my small leak turned into a major one without my knowledge until early morning when i noticed the bottom of the cabinet (under the sink) very wet. thank goodness for angie's list. the only plumber i called was andy's pipe dream. the answering service woman was polite and efficient. andy called me within minuteseven though the shop was not yet open, and sent chad out within 30 minutes. the pull out hose was loose and chad screwed itback, easy fix for him but it was not for me. he also checked everything else, explained my system to me, made smart recommendations. i so appreciated his honesty. andy' pipe dream is the ONLY plumber i will ever call from now on.

Scheduling was easy. Their plumber (Chad) showed up on time and was able to fix the problem with compatible parts, even though the Jacuzzi fixture has been discontinued. He had the parts and "special wrench" in his truck so he was able to get the repair done quickly, in 1 visit - which I really appreciate.

Chad said that the old faucet could be fixed, although we may be better off in the long run to replace it with a new one. We purchased a new faucet at Home Depot and he came out again and installed it for us. We were very pleased with the whole process and the reasonable cost.

We were impressed by how quick they were able to schedule us. Chad really listened to my experience with this house for twelve years and water flow. I asked to install a larger sump pump than he normally would. He didn't upsell at al but was a true " consultant." I will be using them for all my future plumbing needs !

Called Andy's on Sunday & Andy phoned me back immediately. Scheduled us first thing Tuesday morning, since this was not an emergency. Chad arrived before the appt. & phoned rather than ring the doorbell that sends our dogs into barking fits :-) Replaced the exterior water faucet w/a Woodford 19 device and new pipe to main water source in basement. Explained how this device works in winter to keep faucet from freezing. Explained, too, that garden hoses connected to faucets when they are turned off can still cause pressure buildup in faucet, something we didn't know. Appreciated this info. Showed him another faucet, too, but he said its replacement could wait. Appreciated this since he could have just as easily replaced that one too, costing us more money. This company is first class! They always answer the calls which seem to, coincidentally, be towards the end of the day or on a weekend and come out right away! Have gotten to know Chad pretty well now as he has visited on numerous occasions. Very professional and always explains what he will do prior to the job & why, including cost. Andy, I agree w/a previous reviewer that Chad needs a raise ;-) Thanks for a great job, guys!!

Chad did a very professional job. He also quoted the cost before he began the work. Later I checked the price of a comparable sump pump @ several hardware stores and found they sold for about $125 to $150. Therefor I think about $250 for installation was a bit high.

After finding Andy's Pipe Dream on Angie's List, I used their online form on their web site to contact them. I did say in my message that my issues were not time-sensitive and could wait. I didn't receive a message back until 8 days later when they apologized for missing my message and asked if I still needed help. I did and it was probably a good thing they didn't respond sooner because my basement drain had started to back up while doing laundry. We set up a time and Chad arrived on time. Chad was an excellent listener and gave great advice. He fixed the leaking issues, confirmed my sump pump was working and cleared my basement drain so I no longer had any backup. He showed me how to turn off the valve connected to my frig and just turning the valve on and off increased my water output from the dispenser about 100% more than it had been coming out before plus he gave me some other tips to try on my own to increase the output. Before doing any work, Chad explained thoroughly what could possibly happen once he started and I appreciated knowing what to expect. He gave me a full range of options, estimates and references to problems/potential problems before, during and after his work. Warranties were also fully explained. Chad was professional, and best of all, my cats liked him. Price was reasonable, and I will not hesitate to use this company again. Andy, Chad deserves a raise.

Once again, Andy's Pipe Dream came through for us! Yesterday was probably the fourth time we have called them since moving into our house about a year ago. The company and its employees have been great each and every time -- prompt, courteous, professional, solid work, good quality, good price, and all the rest! We called yesterday at about 10:30 about our hot water heater, which had started gushing water and soaked our basement carpet. They squeezed us in and came out the same day. We now have the leak fixed and an estimate on repairs for the bigger issues, which will be done by Andy's Pipe Dream in May (the delay is at our request). I have never been so pleased with a service provider (and we have had many, many service providers at our "new" house). I strongly recommend Andy's Pipe Dream for all your plumbing needs.

Chad Jurgensen arrived on time and we discussed the problems I had with two outside faucets. He told me what he could do to fix the problem and the costs of repairs. After I agreed to the work and costs he quickly went to work. Chad was friendly and did a good job including demonstrating the improved faucet functions. I would definitely use this company for my plumbing problems. I am glad my son referred this company to me.

The faucet on my deck became loose and therefore no longer functioned. I called Andy's on Saturday afternoon and he got us on his schedule for 9:00 AM Monday morning. Chad arrived on time, evaluated the problem and offered options. Once he got into the project he discovered the lower cost option was satisfactorily remedy the malfunction. He obtained the repair parts and immediately repaired the faucet. Even though it was cold outside, Chad performed the work and thoroughly tested it to ensure everything was working correctly. I highly recommend Andy's Pipe Dream for any plumbing problems that might be encountered. They respond in a timely manner, and are always courteous and professional. Andy's also gives its Angie's List customers a 10% discount, which is a nice reduction to the overall cost.

My house is almost 70 years old. The galvanized pipes were rusting from the inside out, resulting in extremely low water pressure. Chad, of Andy's Pipe Dream replaced all my pipes, and my water pressure is fantastic now. Chad had to work both in the crawl space and in the house, resulting in a very long work day for him, but he kept at it, and didn't stop until the work was done to his usual high standards. Chad even replaced my outside faucets and installed a main shutoff valve in my garage and in the kitchen and bathroom. I've used Andy's Pipe Dream several times before, and they are just great. Chad is a very hard worker, very nice, and always cleans up his work areas. He explains the cost beforehand, and completes the work just as described in the proposal. Another great thing about this company is their use of an answering service. Someone always answers the phone, and Andy always returns your call in a matter of minutes. It has never taken him more than 5 minutes to return any of my calls. I recommend this company without reservation!

I called and my call was returned quickly. I had a concern with a 60 year-old gas light in my yard, which did not work and rusted through, and fell over, still connected to the gas line. My local gas company could not tell me whether the line was disconnected when it was moved in 1999. I spoke with Andy, who was more than sure that the line had probably been disconnected, but told me what to check. He could have made a service call, but I feel and appreciate the fact that he was honest, thereby saving me money. He will be my plumber to go to in the future. If you're in the Kansas City area, keep him in mind for plumbing needs. Being a cautious senior citizen, I had my nephew dig up the line, and, thankfully, it had been disconnected. Thank you, Andy!

Andy's showed up after the original plumber (different business) we had called was a no-show. They did not charge us any extra for coming out on a weekend. They worked us in almost immediately, showed up when they said they would and got us fixed up right away. The plumber was extremely thorough and ensured he located all problems before finishing up. I also liked how they charged for their services. Andy's charges a flat fee plus X amount for each subsequent repair necessary to fix the problem. Because of this, I knew up front how much everything would cost. I thought this was much better than an hourly charge on top of everything else. Great plumber! Definitely will be using them for any future repairs.

I called Andy's Pipe Dream on a Monday and spoke with a very nice front office clerk. She said someone would call me back within a few minutes and they did which was my first pleasant surprise. We set an appointment for 2 day later and I was told that I would be called when they were on their way to my house. The did in fact call and let me know they were 30 minutes away which was pleasant surprise number two. The actual work went better than expected. Even though our type of job wasn't something they normally do, the serviceman offered to help us anyway since he had all the tools and experience. I expected they would need to schedule another time to come out as this trip was probably just to get an idea of the job. Instead he took care of it and was done in just over an hour. I was very pleased to have my job done so quickly and easily and would definitely call them again for plumbing jobs. All in all they were prompt, professional, followed through on their promise and were pleasant to work with.

The bathtub had been draining slowly for a while, and the culprit was the old 1920s drum trap. Andy's Pipe Dream came out and removed the old drum trap and replaced with a P trap. The tub has drained great ever since. He had to open up the plaster ceiling which made a bit of a mess, but he did a pretty good job cleaning up. I will use again whenever I need plumbing service.
