This is an addendum to my 5/28/2014 review. We never were able to get the humidifier to work properly in the winter and every May when we'd first turn on the A/C they would have to come out to add refrigerant. Even then, the system has never really cooled the house that well. On 5/27/2016, after the A/C had been on for a few days, it stopped working altogether. David came out on 5/31/2016 and said we had a blown capacitor. He also said it was time to renew our annual service agreement. Total bill = $180. The A/C seemed to work okay that evening but the next day wouldn't cool below 75 degrees. Called David on 6/1/2016 and left a message to have him come back out. On 6/2/2016 he called to say HE HAD SOLD THE COMPANY and we should call Anthony Heating for service. We called Anthony and they had none of our records and suggested we sign up for their annual service plan. We explained that we had just renewed through All Brands, and had a paid receipt, and they said they would credit us with a year of service. They came out that day and we told the technician about the ongoing problems we've had since the system was installed in June 2013 – never cooling very well, parts breaking or leaking, always low on refrigerant, humidifier not working in the winter, etc. He looked over the system and came back upstairs about 10 minutes later with his report. He said it was wired as a heat pump system (which it's not) and that's why it's never worked properly. He changed around some of the wiring and our house cools down for the first time in three years!! He said the mis-wiring was the cause of the low refrigerant/pressure issues and most likely led to parts failing and having to be replaced. He also said our humidifier should now work properly this winter. I'm so glad Dave Otto and All Brands has closed its doors. Best thing that ever happened to us!

I signed up for the $143/yr. "silver" service after discussing pricing with the owner, David Otto. The first service appointment was missed and rescheduled. When the service was complete, I was surprised that the total was $223 - an $80 service charge was considered normal for the first visit, though this was never mentioned when pricing was discussed. I can't make a definitive comment on the quality of service, but our humidifier should have been serviced, and it did not appear to be working all winter. The second appointment was missed, and I was told that they had me on the schedule for next week. My paperwork from them said that they had missed the date, but I rescheduled. The second appointment was missed. After discussing refund options, I made a third appointment, which was also missed. When I was finally able to get in touch with Mr. Otto, I was offered a $35 refund, and I have not received it (just over 1 week later). Throughout this process, I never received a phone call stating that a technician would be late, would miss an appointment, or anything similar. Nobody showed up, and I was the one who had to initiate contact to try to reschedule. I eventually received a reluctant apology, but I did not receive any true compensation. Frankly, when somebody thinks that they're getting two services for $143 and ends up getting one service for $223, it's beyond frustrating and borders on criminal. Perhaps this company provides adequate one-time service, but the annual service contract is a significant gamble.
Description of Work: Semi-Annual HVAC service - one of two visits was completed; the second never occurred.

(FEB 2014) The first winter long we had very dry air in the house (about 15% relative humidity) to the point that the joints in our hardwood floors began cracking and we were suffering from chronic dry skin and sinus issues. We never had a problem like that with our old system (typically 35-40% RH). Two calls and a week later, the service technician came out and decided the problem was that they had the cold water line feeding the humidifier instead of the hot. He switched it and assured me we'd be happy with the improvement in humidity. Nothing changed, still 15% RH or less. The humidifier was installed on the side where the air is entering the furnace whereas the old system had it on the side after the burners. I asked if that might be part of the problem and he insisted it made no difference. (MAY 2014) Then it warmed up and last week I turned on the A/C for the first time this year. It didn't work. David, the owner, came out next day and said we had a coil leak and he could either order the part under warranty or sell us a new replacement unit for $1000. I said let's get the warranty part ASAP. With Memorial Day weekend he said the part wouldn't come in until Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest and, by the way, there's a $100 fee for paperwork. On Wednesday, we called him and he said parts are backordered so maybe next week. It's hot and muggy and we're not very pleased right now. I can't help think that much of this could have been avoided had they bothered to show up for the spring and fall service calls that we paid for under the Silver maintenance plan. David said they will move the humidifier to the other side of the furnace when they come out in Sept/Oct for the maintenance call. (NOV 2014) They never showed up for the fall maintenance so we called when we noticed the furnace wasn't always coming on in the morning. Turns out we had a faulty pressure valve. While here we reminded them about moving the humidifier and that was done the next week. We'll see if it works better this winter.
Description of Work: Replaced furnace, A/C, and humidifier with Goodman brand units. Included 2 years of 'Silver' maintenance program.

For quite a few years they were pretty good. They came out twice a year and did periodic services on the equipment. Then I got to a point where at one time, they came out and told me that literally every component in the air conditioner was defective and it would cost more to repair than it would to replace it and I should replace it. At that point, I called out a second company to get a second opinion and $150 later, they had the air conditioner running. I felt that I was either lied to or the guy of All Brands Service Inc. was incompetent and either one was not a good thing. I thought I would give them benefit of the doubt and maintained the contract with them. However, there were more issues. Their website says they provide 24-hour service call, but that's apparently not the case. When I call, they say that we can come out next Tuesday or something like that. Once they came out to work, they were not supposed to touch the humidifier, but in the process, the technician replaced the humidifier pad and wanted to charge $35 for that. However, that was something that I've always done myself. I told them to get the pad back because I don't want to pay $35 for that and in the process of doing that, he didn't reassemble the humidifier correctly, so when the humidifier came up a week or two later, it filled the furnace with water and it ended up costing me $900. I talked to David who is the owner of All Brands Service Inc. and basically I got nothing from him and it felt like he didn't really care about his customers.
Description of Work: We have used All Brands Service Inc. In 2001, they installed a new furnace and air conditioner for us. Then we used them for regular maintenance service.
