I could not be more happy with the people I dealt with or the job I got. They were tied for the highest dollar contract (the reason for the B in the price dept) but I still feel like I got my money's worth and maybe then some. I commented at work that I needed to find a roofer and asked if anyone had a good company they knew of. Our regional manager mentioned the company that had reroofed our distribution center. I said that they probably wouldn't be interested in my house. She told me they did both and it turns out she was absolutely correct. They came out, checked everything over, made some suggestions about some other conditions they found and were just as professional as their name suggests. I was a little disappointed they weren't less expensive but I decided to go with them anyway because we've never had any problems with the giant roof they did for my company, surely this would be a snap. It was. They were courteous, the yard was cleaned up very nicely. The guys even knocked as soon as they were done on the back so I could let my dog out to run safely like I asked them to. They'd cleaned it separately so he could get out their and fuss at them in person! :) Seriously good folks. I am so glad I found them. Found out they're a family business and the two guys I'd dealt with we're a father and son. My wife always said everybody gripes when things are bad but rarely does anyone give credit when things are good. She always did. I guess now it's my turn to put up or shut up, so here I am. Roofs been done a while now and still looks good, still dry and the same guys still answer the phone.

I contacted Professional Roofing from a referral from a friend after hail damaged my home. My friend is such a stickler and gave them such a glowing referral that I couldn't help but call them! They answered the phone in a pleasant courteous manner, gathered my personal information including what it was that I was experiencing (not just, "what's yer address..."), set an appointment right then and there and asked if there was anything else they could do for me. Very Professional. The rep came out (I say "rep" because he didn't try to "SELL" me anything, he answered all my questions, even the silly ones, and offered me some very nice simple options. He did tell me that there were other products/services his copmany offered and asked me if I would allow him to make me aware of them before going on. He had been so nice and polite I said yes, not something I normally do. It was actually short and painless. He helped me with my insurance summary (I didn't know what half of it meant) and made me aware of how to get the rest of my settlement. It was then that he made me aware that if I were so inlcined, they could take care of my gutter/downspout, siding and windows too. No pressure at all. What a relief! After answering my questions and asking a few of his own, he asked if I had any other questions and presented me with a blank proposal, he had me tell him what options I wished to selcect, then added them. I was very satisfied with the dealings I had had with them so far so I decided to sign up. I was not dissappointed. The crew was polite and EXTREMELY HARD WORKING! They had quite a job to perform, I had several layers of old shingles on my home and new plywood had to be installed (which they handled with my insurance company seamlessly). They worked diligently and made sure that I was taken care of, ie. asked me if I needed to move my car out each morning before they began work, made sure that the gate was shut when moving from the back yard to the front yard so my dogs didn'tget out (even though I was keeping them inside they still did every time!), even covering things in my yard and putting down plastic tarps since there was so much roofing being taken off. After the roofing was completed and everything was cleaned, again, the gutter crew came out two days later. Same thing. Quick, courteous, professional. The gutter installer suggested a couple of changes in my downspout locations to improve drainage in my back yard. Someone who actually cares! What a plus! Thanks, Chris! After the gutters were complete the siding repairs were made and several "window wraps" were replaced. Some rotten wood was discovered while they were working on the windows, I recieved an email at work letting me know. The email showed pictures, (they'd already showed my wife but wanted to keep me informed too) and had a scanned work authorization so I could see what they were proposing to do and how much it was going to be. This too they submitted to my insurance company so I could be reimbursed for it. After everything was said and done, they cleaned up very well, they made sure we were satisfied and called our insurance once from my house to make sure there wasn't anything else they needed to submit so we could be reimbursed. They were nice, KNOWLEDGEABLE (wow!), and very professional, just as their name implies. We have a rather large home and I was worried initially that the process would take forever or that bad weather would spoil the process, not at all, they handled it very well. I would (will) most definitely use them again. My wife is already talking about the next project we could use them on! We have already referred them to our daughter and son-in-law as well as several neighborhood friends. KUDOS GUYS!Replaced

In April of 2011, our roof sustained some damage from a spring storm. We immediately looked for a local company to do the repairs. This company was also referred to us by a family member. They came out and immediately gave us a quote for the job. The quote was vague and did not line out what was going to be done... Materials, timing, deliverables. We took it upon good faith that the work would be done correctly and that it would be on time. That is when it started to go down hill. The materials did not show up until July 2011 and they did not get started until August. All during this time we were trying to get ahold of them to find out when/if they would start. No reponse. Nothing. Then they started the work early August on the deck then after 3 missed appointments to start the roof they began late August. Come to find out an entire roofing crew quit. No response. Our house had went through the spring storms and now summer with things starting to get worse. The materials that were in our driveway started to wear and they had to get new materials which they wanted us to pitch in for ( um No! ). They did not clean up after the roofing job was completed so we had to. Nails, shingles etc. in our yard. 3 weeks after the roof was complete they started on the guttering. Once again we tried calling and no response. Finally we got them nailed down to a time they woud start the guttering. Once the guttering was we had a walk through and we were pointing out some areas of concern. They blamed us for the siding that was damaged during the job. Huh?! I wasn't the one on the roof! And I did the clean up. Out of 5 complaints they only did one. I did the rest. Plus, looking at the rest of the neighborhood, I believe they did my evesincorrectly. Now we are in late September. The Monday after they finished the job we called the business to get the final payout. Come to find out they turned us into collections. "WHAT?" Plus they were rude to me and my wife when we tried to explain to them that they just finished and we were not going to pay before the job was done. They kept talking over us when we were trying to talk with them. Plus it was over budget. They were out of our lives in late September 2011. A 6 month lesson in why you should investigate, get references, demand a detailed quote, and time for completion. I have had contract work done before on good faith. But no more. I strongly advise anyone considering a roofing job in the Wichita KS area to avoid them at all costs. This has been the bane of our existance. We will tell everyone our story of pain and suffering.
Description of Work: We had our entire roof replaced, roof put on our deck, and our guttering replaced.

I'm sorry to hear you feel this way. While your expression of taking our word in "good faith" sounds wonderful, it is of course, inaccurate. Professional Roofing has an "Open File Policy" for all AngiesList'ers. All our records (with the exception of our clients personal information for security purposes) are available to show the truth of any situation upon request. Just Ask! We'll be happy to Tell the truth about any situation and show the documentation to prove it! Our proposal details the proposed scope of work as well as the additional work that you requested from us. This, in addition to the drawings of the porch roof and additional structure we built for you all bear your signature of acceptance. The timeframe included in your review is a bit askew, however, we agree that there was an unusually long period between the initial contact and the beginning of any work or material delivery as we were dealing extensively with your piteous mortgage company. After over a month of dealing with them and countless hours of office work procuring additional funds for you the materials were finally ordered and delivered. No negative mention was made of the additional funds nor the hoops jumped through for your unreachable high risk mortgage holder. The 14 emails to you during this period are all in your file, however, the 3 personal visits to your home and 2 personal visits from you at our office (11 blocks away open 9-5) of course are not. "No response, Nothing", hardly. There were no "missed appt.s", only 2 delays at the homeowners' request. We always try to accommodate our clients requests. We had no roofing crew quit in the entire year of 2011. The material that was delivered for the porch construction had no time to deteriorate as it was used immediately, several items were mis-delivered, and were returned to the material supply company and replaced with the appropriate items. No request by Professional Roofing or anyone within the organization was ever made to "pitch in" for anything beyond the contract amount originally agreed upon. This fallacy seems to have stemmed from the failed attempt to shoplift delivered materials that had to be retrieved from the homeowners' truck to be returned and exchanged, "um No!" indeed. The clean up was done after the construction, roofing, and guttering portions of the project. No mention was made of inadequate clean up at the time. If there was any debris left over, we apologize, but we are unable to properly address concerns we're not made aware of. As for the gutter delay, your explicit demand was that we place them in your back yard until you could paint them a custom color. Three weeks later, 4 more attempts to set a date for installation and one letter later, we then returned with no additional trip charge to install them 48hrs after finally receiving a "go-ahead" email from you after hours. The siding damage was not blamed on you, it was simply rotting siding, we were not contracted to work with the siding and we were not going to be strong armed into any more freebies for you. The roofing passed inspection and is installed according to the manufacturers' specification and building code. After many unfruitful attempts to contact you by phone, email and in person for 2 weeks after completion of the project and perhaps more importantly, refusing any more demanded freebies, a final collection call was made making you aware of the situation. You responded within 43 seconds of the call telling you that if payment was not made within 5 business days, you would be turned over for collection, even though you were apparently unable to respond to the 11 previous documented calls asking for contact. Any proof of being submitted to any collection agency at any time by our company would be welcomed as our open file policy will show otherwise. The conversation of "collection" took only 2-3 minutes and was dominated by your telling us that you had just been busy and were intending to call us. At no time were you "spoken over". The project was not only not over budget, but after dealing with both your insurance co. and mort. co., you received more funds than you had originally been promised from them, and we re-negotiated a new multi-project discount (up-front, in writing, signed, dated) that saved you a considerable sum. Apparently, getting your roofing, guttering and an addition done for less than the insurance proceeds wasn't enough, profiting from the situation wasn't enough, you must have wanted more. We have done more work for the family member that originally recommended us to you since this situation and have no issues with them. Proof that the one bad apple may not be representative of the whole bunch. I would welcome you to tell anyone your "story" of pain and suffering, a "story teller" always will. We endeavor to make every experience with our company a good one, we have for four generations and will continue to do so. I do however advise any contractor in the Wichita area to avoid the McElravys at all costs. We appreciate all AngiesList members and look forward to making sure we continue to reach and exceed the high standards that have kept us healthy in a single market for over half a century!

Roof was worn out and needed replacement. Many vendors wouldn't even give me a bid when I told them I was paying verse insurance. Went to Lowe's and they used Professional Roofing was as a vendor. Price included both materials and installation. Professional Roofing came out, did their measurements and coordinated order of materials. They removed the old roof, inspected the roof substructure (no problems) and installed new roof and all vents. they removed and returned unused materials and I actually got a refund for the value of the unused materials returned.

Thank you for your compliments regarding our re-roofing services. We appreciate all of our customers and hope to be able to serve them for four more generations! I noticed we only received a "B" in the pricing dept., I have no doubt that using Lowes as the primary contractor increased the overall price after having their mark-up added to our services. We always do our best to provide top-notch customer service regardless, but this aspect we unfortunately had no control over. Please call us for all of your exterior needs in the future and we will strive to make sure that next time, we get all "A"s!
