They came out the same day I contacted them, gave me a quote which I accepted, and then got to work. A short time later I had a new chandelier in my dining room with a dimmer switch. It couldn't have been better. I appreciated their professionalism and will call them again for electrical needs.

The second time they installed outlets in my kitchen island and 6 recessed lights in my living room. I am always pleased with the service, price, and attention to detail. One of the employees had originally scrammed me and they refused to give me my money back. I had no other choice to let them make it up to me rather than choose an electrician of my own who I felt more comfortable with, and in the process it was like pulling teeth just to get them to make things right and to do the job that I had paid them to do in the first.

The team of 2 came to my home I had owned for 20 years that I needed a full remodel, and electrical upgrades as well. They were on time. The issue in question is they saw my current electrical panel and said that it was dangerous and could even be a fire hazard. Since my panel was a Westinghouse, and I had several different breaker brands inside, such as Cutler-Hammer, Siemens and Westinghouse, that it was bad. He also attributed it to putting the wrong transmission on a car, that it just doesn't work correctly and is dangerous. He also came up with a number that was easily 50% higher than my other 2 estimates from highly rated Angie's list reviews. The estimate he provided did not detail anything, appeared intentionally vague, and left lots of verbal comments that the price would likely be higher as they went though the project, that it was a "starting point". To sum it up, if you did not know.... Using different breakers in a electrical panel is absolutely fine. All of these are UL listed and certified, and rated to do the same job. What he did was play a game to see if I was informed as a buyer, because I played dumb and waited till the scammer was out of my home he did not know I caught it. He may be an skilled electrician, but I would consider them seriously untrustworthy after that game, also I think location may inflate project prices according to the neighborhood. The amount of work he was to provide amounted the work to be at over $300 an hour per person on a 2 man team, I know its a skilled trade, but that is beyond excessive. I have hired another electrical contractor for this project, and will post a review once complete.
Description of Work: Did not hire them, they played a "dumb customer" game and I informed the management.

I had these guys replace a failed breaker box in my house. At the time, there was a 220 wire feed (110v x2) that ran out to my garage for my air compressor. When the box failed, the box grounded through my air compressor. This company showed up the next day and fixed the box. When I hooked my compressor back up it didn't run right. I figured that the motor had been damaged when the panel failed. I saved money and bought a new compressor. When installed it ran just like the old one. The installer had only run 1 leg of 110 out to the garage. The job was not done right. As such, I spent my time, and my money trying to fix a problem that didn't actually exist (time spent trying to find someone to rebuild the motor, and ultimately finding and getting the new compressor and installation). I now have to return the new compressor or take a $500.00 hit to my wallet, due to their incomplete work. I contacted, and expressed my displeasure, and asked for $200.00 for my time. They took 10 days to get back to me, and told me there is nothing they would do. Their solution amounted to "call us back to double check our work" We are all human. Good companies fix their mistakes. Fix is not a discount off FUTURE work. They have been polite through the whole process, but never get around to answering my core question. What is the customer's time worth? I have 10 hours of time into this process, all because the job wasn't done completely the first time. What is the customer's time worth?

I needed a ceiling fan hung, which would require new electrical, and an entryway light replaced, which is on a vaulted ceiling. Scott's electricians came out to take a look at what needed to be done. They were supposed to arrive between 8am to 9am, but showed up around 4:00pm instead. They gave me an estimate of $1600.00 to $1800.00 for the job. I think that estimate is way out of line.

Description of Work: We had some routine electrical issues to address at our Prairie Village house. (Adding a new outlet, figuring out why an outlet was not working, etc...) In our 1st appointment I met with the service tech at the house and we jointly determined that the estimated costs of the projects we went over would be approximately $450.00. The tech was not able to complete the repairs on his 1st visit and told me that he would come back the next day. It was actually 2 days before he got back to the house. As he completed the various jobs, he told us that there would be additional charges of $300.00. I have a basic knowledge of how time and materials service work is priced. I questioned him about the additional charges and his response was that the work was guaranteed for 5 years and it we had any problems at all with any of the things he repaired or installed they would come back for no charge. That was the justification for their charges. In my opinion, this service rep had about an hour of time in the various projects, and approximately $100.00 in materials. I feel that we were severly overcharged and we will not be using this Company again at any time. I could tell that he felt "not right" about what he charged, but didn't have the backbone to make any adjustments.

I thought I had an appointment three different times. The first time, they contacted me the day before to reschedule for the following week. The second time, the owner (Scott) called and rescheduled on the morning of the appointment. The third time, he just didn't show up at all. I will be calling a more professional company to actually get this work done.

This morning I called this company to inquire about having digital thermostats installed and was told they didn't give estimates on the phone. He wanted to know who gave me his name, and I said "no one". Then he asked how I knew about the company, and I replied that I heard it from advertising. I was then told to call a plumbing and heating company. I also inquired about having a diswasher installed, and his response was again vague and totally disinterested. He again said I should call come other company. He certainly didn't seem to need and/or want my business. What a rude and nonprofessional person? I would never call this company again.

The technician arrived on time and immediately provided a financial and time estimate for the work. Since it was the same technician who recommened this work on a previous visit, he was well prepared. To reiterate, he explained the problem to me in a way that I could understand it and even visibly showed me the different between the breaker squares I current as compared to the breaker squares I should have for my home to be code-compliant. The whole process only took about an hour. Super nice guy, very professional and I'm extremely pleased with the service. I would highly recommend Scott the Electrician to friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: This the 4th time I've had Scott the Electrician to my home since I purchased it in 2000. I have an older home in need of many upgrades. The service that was performed on 6/10/2011 was based on a recommendation the technician made on a pervious service to my home. My brother is a commercial grade electrician so I asked him about the recommended service (bring my breaker box up to code) and he agreed this upgrade was critical to fire prevention. The technician replaced all breaker squares in my breaker box in order to bring it up to code. He even explained (and showed) me the difference between my current breaker squares and those being installed. He even gave me an extra discout for being a repeat customer.

I called the owner to show my displeasure and to have him come out, but he never owned up to it and refused to come out. He hadn't been out on a call in 15 years. I would never use this company again, even if they were the only one in the greater Kansas City area. It was a very unprofessional experience.
Description of Work: I bought a motion sensor light that comes on over the driveway if someone walks close by at night. I have a handyman that I use a lot that tried to install it for me, but we couldn't find the outlet to hook it up to. I called Scott the Electrician. He came out to help make everything work since the light was already installed. He looked for the source of the electricity all around and found a switch in my garage that he wired it to. He asked me how I wanted the lights aimed and I told him that I only want them pointing on the driveway. During this time he was trying to sell me all these different things regarding my electricity. He mentioned that he didn't think the light was secured properly on the roof so he told me he should go up and caulk it. He was here for 2 hours, most of the time just piddling around and not doing much. When I got the bill it was over $250 and part of the cost was $125 the caulking work that didn't take him very long. Once everything was done I went out to see where the lights would display and they weren't hitting the driveway correctly.

In a word, Awful. It took them about 1 week to return my initial phone request for an estimate. They came and did the estimate and their price was more than double the price of the next most expensive quote I received (5 total quotes). The technician performing the estimate was unprofessional, as he told me, "why don't you go with the other guy" when I mentioned I had solicited other companies for estimates as well. On top of that, he tried to get me to pay for the estimate. They were the only ones who tried to charge me for the estimate of the 5 quotes received, and there was no mention of a service charge for the estimate when I scheduled the appointment. I told him no way I was paying for an estimate when they didn't tell me upfront that was the case. He then nonchalantly crossed out the service fee! I felt like he was trying to pull a fast one on me... They may very well do quality work, but I never got past the quote stage.

Diagnosed problem... between two boxes, wiring routed under driveway said short was cable fault...conditions:(heavy rain/moisture past two days)REAL cause of shorting...using separate electrical line thru conduit...Diagnostic cost $191.00(required to sign work sheet/OK)...when location found solution was add-on...charged another $90+ to re-wire to available line, process took about 5 minutes...wires in same electrical box, cost seems high for labor and job! (alternate choice call in someone else and get another charge!) Asked for bid to change out 40AMP to 30A breaker switch COST $100+ additional charge (switch cost $10/$90labor)...told them to forget request! Two men crew(supervisor plus/helper-7yrs electrical), BOTH courteous and professional, arrived site by 4 PM as promised, out by 5:15! Men seemed "money driven" like guys doing oil changes(wondered if they got paid on add on's). Every thing was an "add on", young guy said he was "glad I had my checkbook available".
Description of Work: Diagnosed Electrical breaker problem, traced wiring, checked shorted cable with testers after entering 2 outside electrical wiring boxes. First at house wiring box and second box at security. Have two lines, one is live ALL times/security reasons(gate service), other line used for gate lighting (night sensors turned on light) and additional service box plugs for bush trimmers, Christmas lights, etc. (electrical maintenance devices)
