GE Factory Service

I don't know if my GE Factory Service Technician came from this store or not - he didn't say and there is nothing on the bill to indicate where the store is. The bill only says GE Consumer Home Services and gives a phone number of 800-GE CARES (which is now hard to believe). The Technician arrived at 9:15 AM, diagnosed the problem (agitator not working), replaced the activator cap, wrote out the bill and left at approximately 9:29 AM. The cost for the service call was $235!!! The service call amount was $80 and the labor charge for less than 7 minutes of work was $136. When I complained about the exorbitant cost he said that GE charges on a "flat rate" basis, not on the amount of time spent. Apparently, their rate for labor on this particular repair is $1,165/hour. The technician did a good job - arrived on time, did the work quickly and competently, and was very courteous. My only complaint is with the flat rate cost for a very, very simple repair. I called GE customer service and sent an e-mail complaining about the cost, but to no avail. The Customer Service rep I spoke with said that's "just the way it is". I received no response to my e-mail. I will NEVER use GE Consumer Home Services again (really can't afford to), and would strongly urge anyone to avoid this company for repairs in the future.
