After the second time, the swale was still not dug out and the explanation given was that there were root structures left over from bushes that were planted where the swale would be so it was too difficult to dig. We saw and still have not seen evidence of this ourselves, but if that was the case, this should have been communicated to us while the workers were on site, instead of us having to ask about it after the fact. We communicated our issues with the job to Master Landscape and told them that we did not want them to come and try to fix it again. We just wanted to be done with them so we could hire someone who knew what needed to be done. We were extremely frustrated with the lack of communication between what we wanted and the guys on site doing the work. It was clear that there was a major disconnect. After all was said and done, we still have drainage problems, we wound up with a broken fence we had to replace due to the Bobcat scoop breaking the fence gate, and we were sent a bill for the full amount quoted initially, without taking into account the fact that the job was very much incomplete. We paid Master Landscape for the work they completed and deducted from their bill the fence repairs and an estimate to finish the job.
Although Master Landscape may be excellent at creating nice landscapes with grass and plants, excavating/grading is not their forte and I would discourage anyone seeking to enlist these services from utilizing this company for this purpose. We sought the opinion of a foundation specialist from Kansas Basement and Foundation after a major rain sent water coming over the edge of the foundation in the basement (on the side Master Landscape added dirt too high up on the siding) and through some fissures in the concrete and his opinion was a drainage issue, which lends credence to the fact that nothing was fixed by Master Landscape. During this meeting, he too recommended a swale. We have enlisted the help of an excavating/grading specialist to tune of another $2,000. Although Master Landscape could not meet our expectations with the job performed, our main issue with them was the communication with us about the job and the way our dissatisfaction was handled when it came time to settle up. Had our concerns been taken into account and honest effort made to assuage our issues with what contracted versus what was delivered, this review might have had a few more positives notes. Unfortunately for all involved, this was not the case.
We love our yard. I give them my highest recommendation.I would never use anyone else in town.
They have planted trees, flowers, shrubs and built 3 walls. We have no complaints and selected their services over local landscape companies because they were punctual, very responsive and professional.
This is a landscape company that we have been using for years and years to install irrigation, design and plantings for at least three houses we have owned. We have only recently begun to use them for weekly lawncare. We have used them for over five years for general lawncare such as fertilizing, grub control, weed control etc. They provide both conventional and organic based services.
The mowers are always prompt, polite and take instruction well. They didn't know to mow into the ivy around a tree, but after being instructed to do so, have done it consistently since. There are no traces of clippings or other debris when they are finished.
