TrendStone was established in 2004 as a fabricator of quartz, granite, and marble. We are the exclusive Cambria quartz fabricator for all of Kansas and western Missouri. Our templating and fabrication process is completely digital and features the most advanced machinery on the market.
Cambria quartz is beautiful and the installed product looks great. However, I had to sit at home away from my job and wait for installers that didn't arrive for a total of three days over the course of the installation of my countertops and backsplash. The installers who were in my home were respectful and provided quality service. The scheduling staff from the Trendstone office were difficult to reach, didn't return calls to keep me apprised of scheduling situations, and, at one point, were downright rude. I placed the order through Costco and paid for the entire project up front which may have contributed to the lack of concern over my satisfaction. Once I contacted Costco and complained at their corporate headquarters, Trendstone became more interested in my experience. Too little too late. My time is as valuable a resource as my money and my time was squandered throughout this process. I wouldn't use them again.

It went (and continues to go) very badly and for more than a year. We hired Trendstone to design, fabricate, and install three sections of quartz kitchen counter and a replacement shelf for a pass through window. They damaged the cabinets in the process of the install/reinstall. There was a partial fix that did not completed the repairs required to fix the cabinets back to the state they were before their work. The crew that reinstalled the counters broke the dishwasher end panel and chipped our stove. The installers damaged the sink cabinet, damaged Lazy Susan cabinet, broke the dishwasher end panel, damaged the corner of the kitchen wall, cut the lip off of the new sink voiding its warranty, installed the sink in crooked, and chipped the front of our stove. We've had to hire a licensed structural engineer to refute Trendstone?s owner?s claims that the damage is due to the age of our cabinets and not because of the poor install by his employees. The engineer has stated that the damage is due to the poor install and Not due to the age of the cabinets or the weight of the new counters. The engineer also determined that the company installed the counters in a manner inconsistent with standard industry practices. The Trendstone installers took a hammer to the inside front of our sink cabinets to chip out wood and broke out the front right side of the sink cabinet. They brought the counter in, hit the wall, laid the counter flat on top of the sink cabinet/dishwasher end panel, and proceeded to shoved (racked) the 5 foot section of counter five times across the top of the cabinet sections (dishwasher end panel, sink cabinet and Lazy Susan cabinet). During the sink install they also pivot dropped the weight of the sink and counter onto the cabinets. One the reinstall the broke the end panel and hit our stove with the counter chipping it's finish. They used a length of 2x4 to hold the sink up and then drove a wedge between it and the cabinet bottom. Doing this bowed the bottom shelf of the sink cabinets. They are also using 2x4s to hold the sink in place. The engineer indicated that this is not an industry standard installation. They peeled off and threw away painted wood slates that had been used between the cabinets and the original counters. It left a large gap between the counters and cabinets. They asked me what the painted wood was used for after they had already broke then all off. They told me that they could not install the dishwasher brace because they said the dishwasher was too tall and not adjustable height. This is not true. A later installation crew adjusted the height of the dishwasher and installed the brace. He has also told us repetitively to find our own repair person. He did hire someone who made one attempt to fix the cabinets. The repair was incomplete and did not address the fact that the cabinets are no longer square. When the counters were installed after the cabinet makers ?fix?, the installers broke the dishwasher end panel. - I called Trendstone for the reinstall of counters. I asked again if the stove or anything needed to be moved. They said no. They also said that their crew would install the plumbing, garbage disposal, faucet, and plug appliance electrical cords in under the sink. I specifically asked if they were sure and they said yes. Another installation crew showed up for the reinstall. They ran the counter into the stove and chipped it. They told me that they were not supposed to do the plumbing or plug in the dishwasher/garbage disposal but did so anyway. They told me that the sink did not fit around the cabinet maker?s braces. They cut off the front lip of the sink and told me that Trendstone would cover the sink warranty instead of the manufacturer. They installed the dishwasher brace after the counter was installed. It pulled the end panel out of alignment and split it. I notified Trenstone that the end panel was broken and the cabinets boxes where still not square. The owner again told me to go find my own contractor to fix the cabinets. We talked with a couple of construction contractors. One of them told us that they could not repair the cabinets enough to look like they did prior to the damage by Trendstone. His recommendation was to have a cabinet maker make similar and replace them. His bid was around $6000 to tear out, manufacturer, install, and take care of the plumbing/electrical work required. We sent this bid to Trendstone?s owner. He complained to the BBB that we were not negotiating in good faith. The owner has not returned calls or emails since late July 2015 but he did finally respond to a complaint to the BBB. The owner has claimed that Trendstone warranty states that Trendstone is not responsible for any property damage or injuries to people that occurred during installation of the counter. Trendstone's owner also stated that Trendstone is not responsible for any damages that are above the cost of what they were contracted for. Trendstone's owner stated to BBB that they would two choices (1) take the counters and sink but refund our full money or (2) leave the counters and sink but give us back half of our money. Both options leave us with damaged cabinets whose bid for repair is greater the amount what we get back. The first option also means we have no sink and counters in the kitchen until we can get replacements installed. It also means we have to hire a plumber again. We were never given, emailed, read or told about a Trendstone warranty. Prior to Trendstone's owners statement to the the BBB, we never saw or read anything stating that Trendstone is not liable for any damaged that occurs during an install. Prior to the BBB complaint, at no time did anyone say to us that the damage was due to the age of the cabinets or the cabinets could not handle the weight of the counters. I feel like we have acted in good faith, and have tried to work with this company to resolve the issues due to Trendstone?s poor installation. Unlike Trendstone?s owner, we do not have contacts with cabinet makers or general contractors nor have we experience with building cabinets.

For our kitchen and two bathrooms, we chose to install manufactured quartz countertops (vice marble or granite), largely for its attractive appearance, durability, and ease-of-maintenance. Manufactured quartz is sold under many brand names. Big box stores carry it as well. Based on bids from several JOCO area businesses, we went with Trendstone despite their slightly higher price. Their staff is knowledgeable, friendly, easy to work with, and very responsive to Q&A. The on-site crew members were professional and courteous. They encountered a problem with a top going onto a standalone desk/cabinet which proved to be more difficult than expected, requiring 3 visits and a redo of the top -- it was dealt with successfully at no additional cost to us. I doubt the Big Boxes would/could do the same. All in all, Trendstone was worth the extra cost.

We met them at one of the Garden show. Initially wanted to granite but then the Cambria looked really nice and was reasonably priced. The company is outstanding and very professional but there were a few hiccups along the way. Particular Cambria that we ordered for some reason and that being out of production and we would have to wait months. Therefore we reverted back to Granite. It is a beautiful granite and we are very happy. We also got a discount. . And the installation there was any damage that occurred to our sink. They were very professional abounded and replaced our new sink without even question. Overall I was very happy with the experience and important to recognize for many of these projects that are always going to be unexpected delays or unexpected events to occur.
