The Handyman Express

Frank Horveath, the owner of The Handyman Express, is a godsend. We had out-of-town guests at our house and everyone was in the process of showering and getting ready for the day when the upstairs toilet stuck. I immediately attempted to shut off the supply valve to the toilet and as I did so, the handle broke off in my hand, spraying water everywhere. I was forced to turn off the water supply for the entire house and we were in a real pickle. I sent my wife to a nearby hardware store to pick up a new shut-off valve for the toilet, hoping that I'd be able to install it and at least be able to turn the water on for the rest of the house. What happened next was nothing short of a miracle. Frank, whom we had never met in our life, happened to be picking up supplies for a job he was on and overheard my wife explaining the situation to the sales clerk. He intervened and asked my wife if she'd like him to stop by the house and just look at the toilet and determine what I'd need to fix it even though he would not have the time this morning to actually do the work himself. He then followed her to our house and not only checked out the problem, but replaced the shut-off valve and was able to fix the flushing mechanism as well. But this is the kicker........he did NOT want us to pay for the cost of the valve itself and felt like we shouldn't pay him for his labor because he wasn't trying to "drum up business" and was only helping us out in of a difficult situation. There aren't many business owners who would interrupt their day to do this type of job on the spur of the moment, let alone volunteer to do it for nothing. I will definitely call on Frank to perform any odd jobs that present themselves in the future and I'll be glad to pay him the going rate. I would heartily recommend The Handyman Express to anyone needing the services of a very able and trustworthy repairman.
