Description of Work: The company first attempted to raise the price $1500 on me to do the work. Then they informed me they would not service my area of town because it was not in their territory. I strongly suspect that they perceive the neighborhood to be too heavily populated with minorities and therefore decline to service, Wyandotte County. I was very turned off by my interaction with them. Apparently they only service yuppies and gated neighborhoods. I won't bother to use Angie's List any more, most of the services I tried to buy through it don't work out, or the servicing company drastically raises their price when they come visit.

Response from MVP Electric, Heating & Cooling
We ran a panel replacement Big Deal and Angie's List ran it for the full market (entire KC area) but we intended it to onlygo to our service area. For that reason we turned down the job. We didn't turn it away because it is in an undesirable neighborhood. We have chosen to focus on the area near our shop to minimize drive time. I'm not sure what miscommunication caused the additional $1500 comment. It's unfortunate that a client had a bad experience due to miscommunication between us and Angie's List.

Description of Work: Removed a stove fan and put in an outlet for an over the stove microwave, plus replaced 30 yr old hard wired smoke alarms. The electrician was very thorough and the job went well. This is the 2nd time I have used MVP for electrical work.

Description of Work: They replaced the computer board on the furnace, and I renewed my service contract with them, for a total of about $1K. The repair person was, sweetly, maybe a little too concerned that this was an expensive repair.

Description of Work: Money was paid, no work was done. I had to sit through a 20 minute sales presentation of other services the company offered, the tech said he was required to do that by the company.When we got around to the work I hired them to do, the quote was very high, $369.00 for one outside outlet. Even subtracting the ""deal"" of $125.00 off and adding the $49.00 I paid it was still more than I paid an electrician outside of Angie's List. Plus I spent 1/2 hour of my work day listening to the sales pitch. |I've taken this up with Angie's list twice, both times within the 30 day ""fair price"" guarantee period. I was told MVP came out to my home so no refund due. I'm very unhappy with the way this was handled by Angie's List, I don't plan on purchasing anything else.

The deal you purchased included a home inspection. The electrician is expected to complete the inspection and present you with options for the both any safety issues he found as well as the items you were interested in having repaired. You are then given the opportunity to discuss what repairs you would like him to do. As with any service provider there is always someone cheaper. We provide a service experience, expertise, professionalism, and guarantees well beyond what is provided my others and it does cost a little more. I would rather apologize for a higher price than try to explain poor service. We apologize that you felt our technician taking time to explain to you how our company works and what services we offer painful. Our focus is always on the customer and their families.
