I own a duplex and bought two services to MVP could check and service each side of the duplex's air conditioning. The owner called me right away to schedule the service though I had to wait about a month since they had so much business! They were prompt on the appointment date and called me with the results of the AC check. They said some extra service was needed so I told them to go ahead, and they did it right away. The gentleman who contacted me was very courteous and seemed very knowledgeable. It was a pleasure doing business with them.

This is an awesome company to work with! Scheduling an appointment was easy, and Rod showed up on time to do the work. He explained what was wrong, and did not proceed to replace anything until he talked to me first. This was my first time to use MVP, but I will definitely call on them again for any future electrical work.

I don't have the exact date of when MVP came out, but I do remember the gentlemen's high quality service, how respectful and knowledgable he was. I wish I remembered his name. We bought an extended contract with MVP because of our experience and that's something we rarely ever do. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Our A/C had not been serviced for quite some time, so it was in dire need of cleaning. The gentleman from MVP came on time, explained everything and did a fantastic job of returning the A/C unit to near new condition...and did I mention it was in really bad shape!

This service was a special offer from Angie's List that I purchased on May 24, 2012. I was a little disappointed that the first available date for service was July 2, 2012. They explained that was a result of the large response to the special offer. I received a reminder call before the service. Then the day of the service, the technician was running late and he called me to let me know. He apologized for the delay and immediately went to work. He was very thorough and the tune-up lasted about 2 hours. The technician was very polite and careful as he worked, taking shoes off and on as he went in and outside. Then just a few days after the completion of the work, I received a thank you note from the technician. I appreciated that as there are lots of companies that provide this service.
Description of Work: The service provided was for the tune-up of our two air conditioner units. The technician ran all the necessary tests to check both air conditioner units. The technician showed me the list of all the tests he ran and some as he ran them.

Offered a special from Angie's list email, I got a call back from them the next day, so THAT part of the responsiveness was good, but it went downhill from there. A SCHEDULED appointment was made about three weeks later. That day, I was given a two hour window of time. About 10 minutes before the time was up, I got a call saying our service guy was running behind, could we reschedule for the next day, given another two hour window. Guess what, this time I heard nothing, then I did the calling. Again, running behind. I was growing frustrated by now, but I gave them a third and final chance. I was assured he would show and yes, he finally did! The technician's servicing of the a/c unit seemed thorough, after he was done he asked about the other work I needed done. I showed him the can light that needed replacing over the kitchen sink, and the outlet I wanted placed above the stove. He left to get the needed supplies, I didn't much care for the light he chose, it was different from the existing one, but we now have a light over the sink,where there was none, so really no complaints there. The only real complaint I have besides all the delays, was that when he installed the pull light in the closet, he left some fingerprints smudges on the ceiling around pull light. Might consider having them out again; if they can work out their scheduling issues, seemed like nice enough guys. *Heard from Chip the owner and he was apologetic for all the delays, the response from the Angie's list offer was overwhelming. He offered to make things right and in this world a person that cares that much about how his company rolls is worth a second look.
Description of Work: Central A/C servicing, cleaned unit, changed filter, etc. Replaced light fixture in kitchen, also added an outlet above stove for microwave. Replaced two closet pull lights.

Customer service was great during initial call. Friendly staff throughout the entire process. I was told approximate time for appointment was around 1p.m. However, at 4:30 when no one had shown up and no one had called I decided to call myself. I was informed that they had an emergency call and that they were a little behind but would make it out that day. Around 7 p.m. or just after someone did show up. The technician looked tired but was very friendly. He took the time to perform the work I needed. He didn't try to sell me more service than I needed and I thought the price was very fair for the amount of time that he stayed (1 1/2 hours). Overall, I would use them again but would have enjoyed a phone call to say the technician would be late.
Description of Work: My dehumidifier would shut off unexpedialdqy so I had them check the power source. The technician analyzed the breaker box and several items going to it including whole home audio systems and dehumidifier. He determined I only needed a new separate outlet for the dehumidifier. He installed the outlet and checked everything again to ensure I wouldn't have issues in the future.

Our air conditioner was not blowing cold air. Initial Service call identified possible slow leak. We discussed at that time that it might be possible that sealing might be necessary and might get us a couple of years out of the old unit. After two days, the air conditoner was again not working. MVP sent the same repairman out the same day. After looking at the system he determined that sealing was not probably an option and that a new unit was needed. He brought us a loaner unit for our bed room that evening since the new unit could not be installed for about a week. He also agreed to credit back the original service call so our only costs were for the new unit and it's installation. This was in the hottest part of the hottest summer I can remember. I really appreciate the professionalism of this business and of the gentleman that did the work. Both the original service call and the subsequent evaluation call were performed as originally scheduled. We had not used this company prior to this experience, but will use them in the future for any updates to our system.

I saw MVP Electric listed in Angie's List along with a special deal of $59 dollar for air conditioner tune up. I called MVP and set up a date for service. Darren arrived promptly at the appointed time. He worked both inside and outside cleaning the air conditioner itself but also washed and changed the filter. Darren was friendly and very helpful. He told me the a/c needed R-22 and that it was costly if a substantial quantity was needed. He checked this out and only had to use 1/2lb. of R-22. I was very pleased with his professional manner and friendliness. The next time the a/c needs work or if I have heating/electrical issues, I certainly will call MVP Electric again.

The MVP electrician was able to find the reason the attic fan was not operating and he also moved the kitchen outlet. The attic fan had been disconnected at the switch and circuit panel and he was able to trace the wire and reconnect it. The additional work cost another $175. He was also helpful in pointing out some issues in the basement.
Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal coupon for a whole house electrical review. When the electrician came out, there was a little confusion about what he was supposed to do for the price I already paid. But he called his office and it was cleared up immediately. I didn't need the whole house, so I just asked him to give me an electrical review of the attic fan (which was not working) and a quote on moving an outlet in the kitchen.

The techician was promt and courteous. I liked the fact that he was a few minutes early. He took his time and did a very through job, explaining the process as he went. I will definately use them again.

Booties were used any time he had to enter the house, he was extremely pleasant and answered any questions I had. Darren said we needed freon in the unit. However it needed less than he thought, so the quoted price was lowered accordingly. He mentioned the service plan they offered, but didn't push it. He said if we decide to get it, just call the office and they will assist me. On top of all the great service, we received a thank you note from him! We will definitely use MVP in the future!

BUYER BEWARE!!!! In May, we purchased an Angie's List special Summer A/C Tuneup service from MVP Electric Heating & Cooling for $59. In the 10+ years we have owned our home, our A/C and Furnace have been serviced each spring and fall. Our A/C was last serviced in July 2011, and for the balance of last summer and this spring, our A/C worked properly and showed no indications of any problems. We were therefore a bit skeptical when the MVP technician claimed that our A/C was about to fail and that it would cost $622 for him to add refrigerant and recharge the system. He also claimed that our compressor was overheating and about to fail, and that a necessary repair would cost another $341. He said that he could hold off doing the repair work so that his supervisor could come evaluate our unit and give us an estimate for installation of a new system. The MVP technician did not sound very encouraged when I told him we would expect to obtain multiple competitive bids before spending hundreds of dollars on repairs, or thousands of dollars on a new system. He left without doing any work. We weren't entirely surprised when neither he nor his supervisor called us back the following week as promised. Based on a recommendation from a friend, we paid another service professional to assess our system. We explained MVP's claims, and asked him to check the system thoroughly. After receiving a nasty shock while opening the condensor unit (hopefully not because of some negligence on MVP's part), this second technician determined that the unit was slightly low on refrigerant, so he added two lbs. He said that despite its age, the unit is otherwise in good working condition and does not need to be replaced, though he said it might have a very slow leak. Total bill for his services: $158.00. The stark difference in experiences left us with a clear impression that we were snookered out of $59 for a technician to do nothing other than fearmonger and deliver a sales pitch. Frankly, we expected more from a company with such a high rating on Angie's List. This experience has soured me to the point that I'm considering cancelling our membership. Angie's List has turned down our request to refund the $59 we paid for the "tuneup" by MVP Electric Heating & Cooling.

Response from MVP Electric, Heating & Cooling
First- our goal is never to mislead or take advantage of any customer. We strive to give our customers every option and only sell them what they want or need. Simply adding freon to a system without giving options is not in the best interest of our customers. Also, adding freon to a system you know leaks, without taking any precautions to stop the leak, is an EPA violation. EPA strictly regulates the use of freon and levies huge fines for its misuse. Also, as freon leaks out the oil in the system leaks with it. Recharging with freon time after time can deplete your system of the oil it needs to run smoothly and lead to compressor failure. Our tech classified this a class 2 leak (medium)- we have 4 levels. I asked him about it and he has seen dozens of customers since then and didn't remember specifics. In our price book- the $622 option that was referred to includes: Adding internal sealers and dryers, dye to detect the leak, and the necessary freon. The additional $341 is for an optional hard start kit to help the compressor work longer. The sealant companies recommend hard start capacitors with every can of sealant because we are injecting a foreign substance into the freon and it can make the compressor hard to start. This option will seal small leaks, help us detect the leak, and make the compressor last longer. Based on the numbers on his info sheet from the a/c checkup it is possible that this should have been a level 1 leak and that amount would have been $476 rather than $622. But the offering of options rather than just filling with freon and moving on was spot on. Looking back we may not have communicated as clearly with this customer as we should have. Clearly they did not understand the benefits of our offering. If we had done a better job of communication we would not have an unhappy customer. Our track record of wonderful reviews and Honor Roll status, as well as Super Service Awards shows that we take care of our clients. We have several reviews that mention how happy they were that we offered the sealant and dye and found the leak source rather than just dumping in some freon and leaving.

When I contacted MVP I was very suprised that they would have someone available to come out on the same day. Rod arrived several hours later and looked at the situation and suggested several options. I decided on having a box mounted to the floor. Rod did not have the correct box for what I wanted done so he went to the local Home Depot to purchase one. once he had what he needed he installed the box, terminated the wiring into the plug sealed everthing up and tested the legs. he cleaned up after himself and was done. we wanted to have an electrician install the outlet because we were unsure about code requirements.We are very satisfied with MVP and would not hesitate to refer them for electrical work.
Description of Work: Our stove died and after purchasing a replacement we decided to have a box with a 220 plug installed before the new stove was delivered rather than having the power hardwired directly into the stove. We decided to call in an electrician because we were not sure about local code requirements. We called MVP to asked about scheduling service and Kirk said they could have someone out that afternoon. The service tech Rod, arrived listened to what I wanted and suggested several options. Rod installed and tested the box, cleaned up after himself and was done in a very short period of time.

I had purchased an Angie's Deal for $29.00 for the cost of a serivce call. Our AC was not working properly and the outside unit would not come on. Andy was prompt, professional and very helpful. I will have them back to do more work on items we need fixed. I highly recommend them.

We had an overwhelming response to our BigDeal for a/c tune ups- it went very well. We set this customer up for an appointment about two weeks from when she bought the tune up. After her initial report we followed up with this customer and found out her a/c had become non-functional. We were not aware that her a/c was non-functional or we would have sent a repair tech right away. Our tune up specialist got booked up rather quickly, but we could have sent a repair tech sooner. We do serve the entire KC area

We chose MVP based solely on Angie's list reviews; they did not disappoint! Pleased with their estimate and price, and even purchased a Heating/AC maintenance agreement with the company. Punctual, professional, and clean construction work. Office manager also considerate; employees exceeded our expectations!
