This job came in two visits. I had stripped very old wiring from the bathroom and MVP rewired multiple light fixtures, outlets and switches. The original running of the wire was done quickly. I had some plaster repairs and fixtures purchases to complete before the second visit. MVP did a great job with staying in contact and rescheduling when the additional repairs went off schedule. Everything works and looks great. I did not notice that old standard plugs and switches had been installed (we had discussed installing the toggle and flat styles instead), but there was a bit of time between visits and I overlooked it myself. MVP did a great job overall, a lot of work for the cost from my perspective and I they will likely be my go-to as I continue to replace old wiring in my home.

The service did not turn out great. I think they overcharged. I think the pricing was more than what it should be. I was not happy with the guy who came. When I hire somebody, I just want them to come and do the job that I hired them for. I do not want a sales pitch. What I got from him was a sales pitch on heating and cooling. I was not interested. I told him that I already got somebody and that I was not interested. Unbeknownst to me, at the end when he was filling out the paper work for me that he apparently, without my knowledge, went looking for my furnace in my basement and got the model number of off it and started giving me some information. I distinctly told him I was not interested. I did not appreciate the fact that he had gone searching in my house for the furnace. My furnace was in a completely opposite room in the corner from where the circuit breaker box was. That was the one thing I did show him in my basement. I did not like that. He was searching around for information on a product that I was not interested in using him for and I had already told him that. So, that kind of burned it for me with this company. This is why I think the price was ridiculous. It was a $225 voucher that we used and all he did was replace an outlet and a switch. I only ended up with a $9 or $10 credit left on that $225 voucher. That was about $215. I paid a $110 for the bid deal, but the worth of the voucher got used up for the service.

Went OK. The electrician checked the electrical panel and some of the wiring. Concluded that the light bulbs were just short lived. I guess he may be right. Asked him for a quote to wire and install a couple over the counter lights. Thought their price was too high - I ended up doing the work myself. Don't really know what I was expecting but seemed like a waste of money.

Service was great. The installers arrived on time and completed the project efficiently and professionally over the course of a day. There were no hidden costs or add-ons: I paid the original estimate for a top-of-the-line, energy efficient system. Included in the installation was a digital thermostat. The new system in the weeks since its installation has proven both more efficient and more effective than the older unit in cooling and heating a split level home.

Very pleased with the overall job. The only reason I gave them a C in price is because even with the 99 for 225 worth of work, I still ended up paying what I would have with my preferred electrician's normal pricing. However, they will certainly be contacted for estimated.

This was a great service and provided information we needed to know about basic residential electrical risk management. The electrician was very professional, was courteous, arrived early, and pointed out things for us to consider in the event of a remodel which more likely to happen now. He also made suggestions for future actions. I would definitely use this company in the future. One other thing, I appreciate how the technician approached each task. He never gave the impression that he had betetr things to do. Instead, he listened to our questions, gave updates as he moved to each task and rendered top quality service. All of that and the Angie's List discount to boot .

I purchased the big deal coupon for this service and it turned out wonderful. The service was great. He was very professional and very efficient. Everything worked out fine. The deal was for $49 and he applied this amount to the service call, and so I ended up paying extra because of the part which had to be fixed. His price was fine. It was fair. He was right on time and he came when he said he was going to be there. He was very nice.

Very well. For some reason there were four can lights that didn't all come on from one switch. He tied them all together on the existing dimmer switch and fished the ceiling fan to the existing other switch. Nice work and cleaned up well before he left.

The workman was prompt, courteous, good natured. Figured first problem out fairly quickly. Second problem was a little more of a mystery. Since it was in addition to prepaid services, he provided an accurate estimate of what it would cost to fix it. There was no pressure. Once found, he was able to fix it in no time. We were very pleased.

It turned out very good. I had one man come out and he couldn't do the work because he didn't have the light switches that they usually carry or the dimmers that I wanted. I told him that I'll go and get them myself, so he had to come back. He left and they told me to call whenever I got the switches. I also had him take down two outside lights on my house, so I thought in the meantime I'll go ahead and get some new ones because they were really old. He told me that it should cover the $225 worth of service. When I called and told him that I was ready for him to come out it was a different person. It pays to get things in writing, which is one thing I like to stress to people, because the new guy comes out and says it was going to be an extra service call plus $220 to put the lights outside, but all they had to do was connect the wires and put them back on the house. I wouldn't do it and said no, so he just did the work downstairs and that was it. It was $212 worth, but I was happy with his work. I just didn't like being re-quoted. I had one man tell me one thing and then another one tell me something else, so I didn't get my lights put up. I'm now going to have to pay for somebody else to come out and put my lights up outside. I thought $220 was way too much money to put my new lights back up, so I was not satisfied with that. I was satisfied with the workman because he was great, but I didn't like the re-quote when I had already spoke to the first man who told me that all of it would've been included in the $225. I wasn't happy with that at all. He did a good job and everything else was good. This is no reflection on the person who came out because he did his job and his not his fault that they wanted to come out and charge me $220 for putting the lights up, so I don't blame him at all. I just wasn't happy with the two different prices. I had asked for the same man because we had already discussed everything and he had already told me what he would do. I was surprised when a new person came out because he had no idea what we discussed. I asked the other guy if this would all be covered under the $225 price that this was for and he said yes, but now this one said no. They did work with me about coming out again and they did great job. When they came they were very professional and on time.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for $98 for $225 worth of electrical services from MVP Electric, Heating & Cooling. I was having an electrical problem with a dimmer switch in our family room, so they put in two new dimmer switches. We had some light sconces on the wall and one fell and broke, so he also helped to relocate another one from our other wall to put over on another wall.

They were horrible. They came out and told me that I needed everything to replace my AC unit. They completely lied to me and to my mother. I was like 6 months pregnant. They tried to convince me that everything needed replaced up to 5 or $6,000. I had a buddy of mine that came over and told me that they were full of it. I just needed something on my unit which was affordable. I wouldn’t recommend them. They try to take advantage of me and it was horrible.

Response from MVP Electric, Heating & Cooling
Very little could be further from the truth. Yes we went there, and yes she was about 6 month along, but that is where the truth ends. The weather had just warmed up and we were very busy. They called in and we really wanted to help them. I (the owner) went personally to make sure they got the best care possible. It would have been the next day before one of our techs could get there and they needed help. They had just purchased a repo'ed home and like most of them it had more problems than they suspected. The a/c was just one of many. They had several issues with their HVAC system. The a/c wasn't working because it was completely empty of freon. The furnace fan had run for quite some time without a filter and the fan motor, housing, squirrel cage and a-coil were caked with dirt and dust. Because the system was void of freon and had been exposed to the atmosphere it needed to have the moisture and air removed before freon is added. Its possible there is no leak and the freon was removed by vandals, thieves, or the old homeowner. In that case the vacuum would pull down properly and we would have added the freon. If there is a leak we won't be able to pull a proper vacuum. In that case we would need to leak check the system, find the leak, and repair it if possible. Most of the time a leak is not repairable. Simply dumping freon into a system with a known leak is an EPA violation (with $10K fine), environmentally irresponsible, and unprofessional. The list of items she needed for proper function of the system included blower pull and clean, a-coil pull and clean, vacuum and re-fill with freon, and possibly a leak check, with the bare minimum being the vacuum and re-fill. Because the system was 12 years old I offered a basic replacement unit as well and gave an incredibly low price on it because I felt for her situation. It would have cost more than the repair work, but would have absolutely fixed her problem and they would be worry free for 10 years. I even told them if they chose the a/c and coil replacement I would throw in the blower pull and clean to get em a fresh start. They had a "buddy in the business" come by who just dumped in some freon and got it running. My guess is that they still have a filthy blower system, dirty a-coil, an under-performing a/c and the high utility bills to go with it. We have never, ever tried to take advantage of any client and we never will. That is not how you build a successful business. With the distance from the shop (house is in Gardner) and the low prices I gave her, we would have broken even. This was not going to be a very profitable call for us. I wanted to give her options that would help for a long time, not a quick fix. We received an angry call from the girl's mother the next day and I tried to get back to her, but my calls were not returned.

Bought this servie off the big deal. The scheduling was easy and smooth. The technician came on time. He was professional, polite, and honest. The A/C run capacitor was a little off specs he recommended replacing it. I asked if it's an easy DIY work since the fee charged by the company is significant. He said yes it should be an easy job. Overall, I am satisfied with their service and would use them again.

Todd of MVP was prompt, friendly, efficient, and personable. He not only got all the work completed in about 6 hours, but he also was tidy about his work and really thought about things like the best placement for the outlet in the storage shed. MVP was very efficient and made sure that I had all the information on the workman they sent out well beforehand. They also followed up promptly.

He was unprofessional from the start and told us that he wouldn't make much off of our deal. A few days to a week after fixing our outlet, we noticed that our stove's ignitor started going off repeatedly on its own around 10 AM. My husband just happened to be home at that time and immediately noticed a very strong odor. He unplugged the stove and plugged it into a different outlet and the problems stopped. After calling the provider back, we discovered that the technician had miswired the outlet. We are lucky our hosue did not explode due to the leaking gas. Had my husband not been there, it would have filled with gas and potentially killed us. The company may have been having a bad day, but I feel that other members need to be aware of this problem.

We were called initially to fix a receptacle behind the refrigerator. The client had an existing wiring issue that caused a reverse polarity condition at the stove, of which we were not aware. It is not a condition that an electrician would normally check for, as the wiring changed polarity between the fridge receptacle and the gas stove receptacle. We returned and corrected the issue. We feel bad that it happened, but it was not an issue you would normally expect to find. I'm glad it all worked it out for the best and everyone is safe.

Scott Senko was my electrician and he was excellent. I recommend asking for him by name; he is that good! I purchased $225 worth of services for $98.00. MPV called to the confirm the Monday 8am appointment on Friday afternoon and Scott provided a courtesy call about a half hour before he came to reconfirm which I appreciated. He was courteous and professional. He went right to work confirming what I wanted done and immediately began to troubleshoot the problems; explaining to me what he found as he proceeded. I had previously purchased the doorbell chime and Scott removed the old one and installed the new one. Since the new one was smaller, he offered to paint the newly exposed part of the wall. Once I located the paint and some sandpaper he sanded the area and painted it. I was pleased he pointed it out let alone actually doing the work for me! By the way, no extra charge. Then he tackled my second mystery of the two light switches and either end of a hallway for recessed ceiling lights and the switches which only worked intermittently. He went to the hardware store to purchase new switches and new matching switch plates and came back and installed them. By the way, no extra charge. He also evaluated my home theater system and gave me a very good bid on running speaker wires underneath the floor and installing and antenna in the attic. He additionally checked some items in the basement at my request and provided some suggestions and a bid for those services. Scott is very conscientious and his work is well organized, neat and clean. MVP and Scott more than honored my Angie's List deal. I am extremely happy with the service and the results and I will call on Scott again for additional work.
Description of Work: Troubleshoot and install new chime for doorbell and troubleshoot and install new light switches for tandem recessed hall lights.
