The service at MVP is responsive and Scott is an excellent home theater tech. This is the second time I have used Scott and MVP and I will be continuing to go to them for projects.
Description of Work: Scott installed a HDTV antenna in my attic and using previous cable television wiring was able to send the signal to several rooms. He also completely wired my 7.1 home theater including deciding the best speaker placement and wiring speakers into walls and running wire underneath the floor into the basement.

He quoted me around $150.00 to install the fluorescent light fixture, but I would have to go purchase the light first. He did very little regarding the ceiling fan except tell me it would need to be replaced because it was old and just made that noise because it was old. By the time he figured out how he was going to install the 30 amp outlet, the price he quoted was ridiculous, $960.00. Not impressed.
Description of Work: MVP representative gave me an estimate to replace a fluorescent light, repair a ceiling fan, and install a 30 amp outlet for our trailer.

The client called us out to look at a noisy ceiling fan, a light that needed replacement, and an outlet for their travel trailer. The fan was very old and making noise. The labor involved to remove a ceiling fan, find the noise, repair it (usually re-winding the motor) and re-installing the fan normally far outweighs the cost of installing a new fan. We explained that and gave them a price for replacing the fan. The light needing replacement was a fluorescent light in the kitchen. Removing the old one and installing a new owner provided light was quoted at a little over $100. The outlet for the travel trailer was about 80' from the panel and required quite a bit of cable fishing and outdoor conduit running. It was quite labor intensive and ended up being a lot of money- about $815. It was more than the client expected to spend. I regret that we couldn't make them happy.

Young lady called to schedule appointment and I advised her that the air conditioner was not working correctly I thought it might be a lack of Freon that was causing the problem. Another person called to confirm the appointment and I again advised the person of the condition of the unit. When service man arrived he advised me that motor was going out on unit and that he could not perform the tune up. He also quoted a price of over $400 to repair the motor that I was not prepared to pay. I believe I should have been advised that tune up could not be performed if unit was not working properly I was charged for service and supplies that were not used. There were two opportunities to let me know that tune up could not be perform it unit was not working correctly but I was not told I could have schedule tune up after unit was repaired but instead I was charged for services not received.

It is not possible to do a tune up on a non-functional air conditioner or furnace. The client was told "We will come out and take a look at your air conditioner, let you know what is wrong with it and do your tune up." It was not clearly conveyed that the repair had to be done, and for that I apologize. We have changed our script to be more specific for occasions like this one.

Woke up this morning to 82 degrees in the house. Condensing (outdoor) unit to AC system would not cycle on. I called 4 highly rated (Angie's List) providers and made arrangements with all - one guaranteed a service call the next morning and the other 3 said they would do their best to get someone out as soon as possible. With the inside temp rising 2 degrees every hour - the first company to show wins! I'm happy to report it was MVP - have you seen all their reviews! David, the service tech showed up (it was 92 degrees in the house) - diagnosed the problem within 30 seconds of taking off the access panel. Fixed and running within 10 minutes! David was very professional and courteous - the guy knows his stuff. Rhonda the dispatcher was very helpful in keeping me informed. I went ahead and signed up for the annual maintenance program to take advantage of the immediate discount on parts. The ad in Angie's List magazine saved me the service call fee ($64) so I basically got the annual maintenance free. Now I can sleep better knowing I'm not crossing my fingers the system will work - on one of the hottest or coldest days of the year. Another true Angie's List success story! Thank you MVP for the timely visit and exceptional service - glad to be your newest customer.

They were very nice. I signed a contract with them to take care of my heating and air conditioning. I thought they were very professional. They had a special deal on those bathroom fans and that is what made me call them in the first place. They were highly rated, so I went ahead and call them. Their quality of work was excellent. They did what they said they were going to do when they said they were going to do it.

It went well and they took care of the service in less than two hours. They provided estimates for additional work that I am considering *********Update********** I called back because a light switch that I had initially called about started having the same problem again - it would not work. They scheduled the same guy to come out and after looking at the switch and can light he noticed the intermittent problem of the light not coming on. It started coming on and he said if it had more problems to give them a call. I told him that he did not replace the light switch that I originally requested when he was first out but charged me $70.00 +/- for minor troubleshooting - which appears he did very little as the light must have gone on when he touched something. I did not want him to leave without addressing the problem as he previously charged me. He wanted to charge me more money to deal with the problem. I asked him to leave as I could not trust his work or integrity as he had no problem charging me for doing very little previously on this light. I had a quote for some outside electrical work and MVP was $300.00 more when this guy provided this to me on first visit. I used Fusion Electric and they were far more professional, and I had a higher degree of confidence in both their work and integrity.

After years of putting off some electrical renovations, I finally committed to getting some upgrades--which all began with a deal from MVP electric for an upgraded service! I purchased the deal, then contacted MVP, who responded the next day and sent Todd Henehan to take on the tasks at hand. What a great representative for his company he is; knowledgeable, creative and willing to be a part of the problem-solving that would come with moving some things around, in addition to being personable and willing to work with nearly any type of schedule. Todd came out for the initial visit, and we discussed not only the box upgrade, but what it would take to move the service, how it could be done and the timeframe for the project. I could just call when ready to begin, and he would be ready to take on the first stage of projects that we'd discussed, recommended and estimated. And on that note, every time I had contact with anyone at MVP, they were friendly, prompt and professional, and quite delightful to speak with. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with MVP. On the scheduled date, Todd was at the house -- in fact, he dropped by the afternoon prior to the installation date to begin preparation to the exterior service, which helped out on the workload on a hot summer day-- everything was done by 3pm, and then just to be on the safe side, he trimmed out some tree branches near the utility pole that might have interfered with the moving of the line by the power company. Todd is thorough. The guy does everything. So thanks to MVP and Todd (and KCPL), I now have a new box with clearly labeled switches and a power line that no longer crosses the middle of the yard. This was as wonderful an experience as it could possibly have been-- and Todd has called to check in and make sure everything is working after finishing the job. I would use this company again, hands down-- and recommend them to everyone.
Description of Work: Updated electrical box, moved service from one side of the house to the other, which included running new electrical line and securing the power line to the house according to city code, and made all arrangements with power company (and city codes) to do the work.

Service man Ted arrived on time and went right to work. He worked straight through the day. He was conscientious in his work. The new service box is tight, well organized and clearly labeled. MVP tech was on time, professional and pleasant. He seemed very knowledgable and we felt comfortable he would do good work. Prior to performing job, provided written estimate detailing extent of work, duration vs cost. The $98 paid for $225 worth of electrical work, in my opinion, would have more than been adequate to cover installation of two Hunter Five-Minute install fans. However, due to age of house, etc., extra bracing kits were needed. My husband ran to Lowes to retrieve materials for the tech, actually twice. With the $225 meter running, my husband didn't want him to stop, resulting in more cost to us. I do think job was more challenging than anticipated. He did nice neat work. Fans work perfectly - quiet and no wobble. To complete job, we had to pay an additional $75 ($98 + $75) plus materials. Not sure this was an Angie's List bargain or not. (I purchased services as a birthday gift for SIL.)

I was very impressed with MVP Electric and the professionalism of their employees. I had 6 original smoke detectors replaced with new ones. The old ones were the construction grade that came when the house was built in 2003. Scott showed up on time, was very professional and was done within an hour. I purchased a coupon for $225 worth of electrical services for $110 and would highly recommend them for anyone that needed work done. For all 6 detectors, the price was $40 a piece so after my discount I only had to pay an additional $15.

Daniel called to verify that my wife was at home. He came over and examined the HVAC unit and found a few issues. He quoted us a price to fix it that was reasonable. We went ahead and got that done. He also recommended that we get the whole outside unit replaced. He quoted a price, but did not pressure us when we mentioned that we wanted to save up the money and pay in cash. He came inside and explained that the noises that our unit made was due to a bent squirrel cage, but was harmless and didn't affect the efficiency of the unit.
Description of Work: Tuned up HVAC unit. Replaced capacitor.
