I purchased the Big Deal through MVP for 4 installed recessed lights and dimmer switch. They responded the next day to schedule and showed up right on time today for installation. I worked with Jacob and Dilan. They were good guys, obviously did the look over of the house. Overall everything was good in my house and the room that I was installing the lights was on top floor with easy access to the attic. Since there was no extra or unexpected work involved I was able to keep the same price and was very happy with the results. The guys were great to work with and gave me some more suggestions and quotes for some upgrades in the house. I would definitely be willing to use them in the future.

I purchased an Angies List big deal for MVP and called, Rhonda was extremely pleasant on the phone, she scheduled Jacob to come out and give me an estimate for a list I made of miscellaneous electrical jobs to be done. (installing more lighting outside, adding additional outlets, etc). Jacob did a thorough full house inspection and also gave me an estimated price for each individual job so if need be, I could tackle one or two at a time as I could afford to get things done. The prices were a little more than electrical jobs I have had done in the past but I had a credit for extra $ through my Angies List Big Deal and it actually made the jobs very fair. Jacob also explained to me that they do everything to code with top quality boxes, wires, etc. A few weeks later I called and made an appointment for Jacob to come back out and install an outlet in the garage. There was a bit of a mix up so Jacob was a little late but he called me to tell me when he would make it and I was ok with that, I appreciated the call. When Jacob arrived he had another team member with him, Jake, both were extremely friendly and professional. I couldn't be any happier with the job they did.

They did a very good job. It was around $2100. My complaint with them directly was that. I had gotten the house inspected and when I paid off the house. The inspection brought to light some items to be rectify in order for me to install a new furnace and a central air. One of the items was the electrical up in the attic. They knew this was going in. When the electrician came in he wanted to pass off what I needed the most. It was going up into that attic. I have never been up there. All I could see was the inspector's pictures. The picture showed, it was like a live wire. So if it wasn't contained in a box of it's own it could cause a electrical fire up in the attic. Well that was one of the key issues. The electrician when he got here, he did all the things on the first floor, but when it came time to go up to the attic. He said can't we do this another day. I said no. That was one of my biggest fears of being safety issue. He said well if I go up in the attic I'm gonna have to cut out some of the roof. He was just making all types of excuses and it really tick me off. I have missed a day of work. You guys knew what I needed. I gave off a list of things that I needed and I need you to get this done today. No excuses. He went up there and did it. That was one of my concern when I called Angie's Feedback. I called you guys because you were on Angie's List. You seem to have good reviews. I wanted to build long lasting relationship with you. But it tick me off that this was one of the item that needed to be addressed and he made every not to comply with the initial job to be done. it came out higher than what it anticipated. They quoted me $1800 and it end up being $2100. The thing about it too was he made the comment well I don't make any money when you go through Angie's List. That was my dealing with MVP. I don't know whether he did what he was supposed to. That was one of the thing about the attic part. He would cut into the roof to install the attic fan and cover the splice wire because there was exposed splice wires according to the inspector's pictures. I don't know whether he actually did it or not I'm taking is word for it. When I called MVP back to tell them my dislike for the electrician trying to get out of it. The come back was, well has your roof leaked. I said I guess I won't know that until there's a heavy rain and that will be too late. I would just for the fact that they got a good special as far as on Angie's List to put in a bathroom heater fan and then to go back to the attic. Supposedly he has not been with the firm for very long. I think they were supposed to sent him help. I think he was counting on that helper to go up into that attic. I would want somebody that's been there a while at MVP to go up to the attic to check this [9:08] man's work That is my ultimate goal in using them again. After that probably not.
Description of Work: I use MVP. They put in some kitchen wiring , a attic electrical stand. They put in 3 plug outlet.

I was pleased with the work, but felt the price was too high especially for replacing two light bulbs which I provided. The client bought a $110 for $225 Angie's List Special and ended up paying $38.18 over the price of the Deal for the amount of work she chose to do. She had us price several projects while we were there and chose to do part of it. We don't price gouge anyone. Whether you have an Angie's List coupon or not, you get the same prices. Our prices are pre-printed for all to see in our UpFront Price guide. The price was agreed to in writing prior to the work being done. She had the option of saying "That's more than I wanted to spend, thank you for coming out. I will get a refund from Angie's List for the Deal" She chose to have us do the work and was happy with the result. I have reached out to this client to see what went wrong but have not yet heard back from her.

Service was scheduled within a day of the purchase of the Angies Deal. We had been looking to install one and this was a great price to have it installed. Initially it was going to be about three weeks to have it installed but told us if an appointment came up they would move us up. They called back next day and had an appointment just two days away. This was great and we were very happy for the updated and follow up to get us in sooner as promised. Technician came on time and called half an hour ahead to confirm and reminded us that if we need to change it we could always call dispatch but he would be on time. Technician was very nice, prompt professional. He did not attempt to upsell us or have us buy anything extra. all the parts and pieces needed to do the install were with him and he took the time to ensure it was installed and looked very professional. Having had my father in HVAC for many years I was impressed with how clean the install was the cuts were excellent , taping and sealing and all the wires and cables cleaned and wrapped. GREAT LOOKING WORK Took time to show us how to use the system and it made a HUGE difference in the house warmth and we seen an immediate reduction in our next heating bill the humidity makes it feel so much warmer , excellent value

My first Angie?s deal experience validated my worst fears about this service. What appears to be a good discount turns into exorbitant fees on everything else. I purchased $225 of electrical work from MVP for $99. We had 6 light ballasts installed in the kitchen, electric panel maintenance (tightening of the screws) and 2 GFI outlets replaced (one in the kitchen that we discovered was the cause of several other outlets in the house not working and one in a bathroom where a new GFI outlet was already in place in the wall and only needed the 4 wires hooked up). MVP's charge for 'replacing' the 2 GFI receptacles was $145 each; however, this was discounted $20 because we had already purchased the outlets. The total for these two GFI outlets was $250. I had 2 non-working T-12 ballasts in the kitchen. The technician suggested I replace all 6 of my ballasts with T-8 ballasts. I thought it was a good recommendation and instead of paying a 200% + markup for the ballasts, I opted to purchase them from Home Depot. I was charged $75 for the install of each unit, for a total of $450. Additionally, we paid a $74 ?diagnostic? fee. The technician did assess the other outlets in the house that previously were not working to verify that they all now worked with the change of the GFI in the kitchen. I opted out of replacing other loose outlets in the house for $122 each; replacing a broken cover over an outlet on my front porch for $87 and covering a junction box with a metal plate for $20. He also offered a host of other services and supplies including a $378 service partner plan which I declined. In total, after the discount ($225 worth of work for $99), the final cost was just shy of $700. Within 2 hours of the technician leaving, 3 of the ballasts were not working. Of course, I asked the technician to come back and fix this issue the next day. After looking at them, he indicated that the ballasts were bad and that it was the manufacturer's (GE's) problem, not MVP's. To remove the three bad ballasts, he charged me $37.50 for each unit for a total of $112. Quite frankly, I felt the charge for removing them was punitive for not signing up for their service plan. As I learned later from a master electrician, the ballasts can go bad for different reasons, including technician error. When I was charged for their removal after spending about $700 the day before, it was like pouring salt in the wound. I started out with 2 non-working lights in my kitchen and ended up with 3 non-working lights and paid MVP $562 for the pleasure of it. The technician was personable but seemed to spend a lot of time socializing and conversing with me. Several times I mentioned that I had to get back to my work. It crossed my mind that he was trying to justify MVP?s expense by spending more hours at my house. I was not surprised when he tried defending the exorbitant costs the next day by pointing out all the time he had spent at my house the day before. Before I purchased this deal, I had contacted Angie?s List customer service and told them that I feared these deals seemed very good and I was concerned that a provider would find a way to overcharge to make up the difference. They assured me that part of what they monitor includes the vendor charging a fair price. I am now questioning their credibility and contemplating canceling my membership.

The client provided her own ballasts for the lights because she didn't want to pay our markup on those parts. Our markup covers quite a few items including warranty reserve for when things like this happen. She opted to not get the parts from us. We cannot warranty parts provided by others. Since we did not provide the parts, we do not provide free labor to replace the defective parts she provided. And yes, technician error can ruin a ballast but that was not the case. Greg has done hundreds of lighting retrofit jobs with a previous company and is less likely to make a ballast mistake than anyone here. My guess is that client got a bad lot of ballasts- it happens. The client chose to have lots of add'l work done and that is why the price was more than the $225. We did 6 ballasts, several GFI receptacles, an electrical panel maintenance where we corrected several loose connections that could turned into fire hazards. She gave no indication of the price being an issue other than not wanting to pay parts markup- until the ballasts failed. We offer deals through Angie's List to help get into more clients homes and build our business. We want to build long term relationships with clients and that would not happen if we were gouging clients. Our prices are pre-printed in our UpFront Price Guide. We are not making them up as we go to try to make up for deal savings. We are not the cheap guy in town. No other electrical contractor in town delivers the level of service we do: open til 8pm at regular rates and on Saturday, 24 hour emergency service, phones answered 24 hours a day by trained operators (no machines), background checked and drug tested employees, ID badged employees for your protection, fully stocked trucks so we can finish in a timely manner, expert techs that receive on going training, and the list goes on and on. I would much rather explain my price than apologize for poor quality.

I purchased the service as part of an Angie's List deal ($225 work of electrical service for $95). I had recently recv'd bids/estimates from three different companies - two of which were from Angie's List - for basic electrical services, including adding a new interior and a new exterior electrical outlet and fixing an outdoor flood light. Neither of the outlets req'd any wire to be fished through walls as they were in the basement, with all walls exposed and available wiring near the electrical box. Each of the three bids was between $200 - $325, so I thought purchasing the deal through Angie's List made sense based on the bids and worked needed. Mistake. The first thing they did was try and sell us on service that we didn't ask for or include in the items we wanted. In their "standard review" of our electrical box, they found a potential wiring issue that could have been fixed for $300+. I wasn't interested since it was only recommended, not considered a safety hazard, and we had other work we wanted to be completed. Unfortunately, the bids to complete each of these relatively minor tasks (would take less than an hour to complete each) were all in excess of the $225 package we purchased In addition, the tech informed us that the hourly rate was equivalent to approximately $150/hour. He also claimed this was standard for the area, of which I hadn't heard from any of the three other companies I recv'd bids. Won't use or contact this company again.
Description of Work: Nothing. They were too expensive and I elected to decline the service.

I'm not sure what other contractors the member had visit and give bids. I am sure that we provide a higher level of customer service than other electrical contractors in town. Our extended hours (open til 8pm and on Saturday at regular rates), 24 hour emergency service, phones answered 24/7 by live trained operators, drug tested and background checked techs, ongoing training programs, and expert certified techs are benefits our competition simply doesn't provide. Some clients see the value in that and are more than happy to pay for it. Some are simply interested in getting the lowest price possible and no matter how cheap you price your services there will always be someone willing to do it for less. We have chosen to provide a higher level of service and price our work accordingly. I would much rather explain my price than apologize for poor quality.

It went very well as far as appointment setup was great, feedback was great, they got back with me right away. The technician or electrician that came out was very helpful, very knowledgeable. It is a little like I quote out two or three things that likely get done and I get a $125 service, but it came to like $900 so it is very pricey. They know that they don't advertise that they are not pricey and that is okay. Would I have them ever come back again no, but not because they didn't do a good job because they are expensive. We had them do a couple of things and paid a little bit more obviously that what my $125 worth on the inspection and I am got a relatively new house so inspection was kind of a no deal. They guy was great, but money conscious. In this particular company they price things out like you are going to a car dealership. If you want to move do this it is a set price. I was very happy with the professionalism and they got back to me and all that kind of stuff. I would not use them in the future.

I got them off of Angie's List. They were very professional and had good answers. When it came to furnace and air conditioning system they were better than anybody else price-wise and in their approach to my problem. It was both price and professionalism. I'm very satisfied with MVP. I switched over to them because of the fact that they gave me several options and they were very explanatory and educated me. Most other companies just wanted to shoot you a price with little explanation. So I thought they were much better to work with.

I was pleased with the estimate and detailed plan for electrical upgrades to my house. I have only completed one of the projects.
