McIntrye Mann 12101 W 87th St, Lenexa, Ks Nice flooring, lousy service On 6/16/16 I purchased carpet and wood flooring during a sale. Due to having a sale at this location extra sales people were brought in. Our sales person was Patrick who came from another store. PROBLEM ONE: Upon completing the sale Patrick told us that he would come by our house the next morning at 8:30 to verify measurements. The next day at 9:45 we had not heard from anyone so I called the store to find out what was going on. I was told that they would contact Patrick and get back with me. By 10:30 I still had not heard from Patrick or anyone else from the company. I called the company back and told the that if I didn't here from Patrick within the next 10 minutes I would cancel my order. Patrick finally called 5 minutes later. He told me that he had another appointment at 9:30. I expressed that if that appointment was made before mine he shouldn't have scheduled mine when he did and if he schedule mine first he should have honored it. Either way he should have called me to explain why her was a "no show." He said he would be at my house around 11:30, he showed up around 12:30. He then told me that the reason he never showed or called was that he had been involved in a fender bender. It seems to me that one of his stories must have been untrue. PROBLEM TWO: I spoke with Patrick later and scheduled installation for my carpet. I was told that the installer would be out the next day around 8:30 am. He actually called around 7:30 and asked if he he go ahead and get started. I agreed, no problem. I had been told by Patrick that they would move the furniture so we wouldn't need to do anything. Not so. The installed said that although he would move the furniture everything would have to be taken lout of drawers and off of shelves. Since the office was the room getting new carpet I have three cabinets with books and papers that all had to be cleared before any work could be done. So instead of being able to clear the shelves leisurely the day before we now had to rush and do it immediately. Later when I complained to Patrick about this he said that the installer should have moved the cabinets with the contents intact. Either way communication between Patrick, the installer, and us should have been better. PROBLEM THREE: We scheduled an appointment a week ahead for installation of the wood flooring. They were to arrive at 8:30 on the morning of the appointment. On the day of the appointment I had not heard from anyone by 11:30 so I called Patrick. He said that he would check on it. He called back and said that they would be here around 12:30 offering no explanation as to the error. At 1:30 no one had showed up so I called Patrick again. He said he would check and get back with me. At 2:00 the installer called and said they were having lunch and would be here around 2:45. This time they arrived on time. However the were unable to start the job. The mud holding the old tile that needed to be removed was thicker than anticipated and plywood would need to be placed after the mud was removed and they didn't have any plywood or saws. They would need to reschedule for Friday first thing in the morning. PROBLEM FOUR The company that McIntrye Mann had contracted to do the tile work told me on Tuesday that they would be out first thing in the morning on Friday. I had agreed to that because I had a carpet cleaning company scheduled to come out Friday afternoon assuming that the tile work that I had originally scheduled for Tuesday would be complete. On Friday morning at 9:00am I had not heard from the tile people so I called them. I spoke with the man who was out on Tuesday and he didn’t seem to know anything about me, or my tile job, and told me that he didn’t have any jobs scheduled for Friday. I reminded him that he had told me he didn’t have anything scheduled for Friday and that was how he would be able to fit me in and do my job on Friday. The man said that he would have to call his supervisor. I waited 30 minutes and called him back and he said that he couldn’t find out anything. I asked to get the number of his supervisor and he said he didn’t have a supervisor and as a contracted employee McIntyre Mann would have to do the scheduling so I would have to call them. I called McIntrye Mann and the person (Mindy) who does the scheduling would not be in until 10:00am and they would have her contact me. I called the contractor back inquiring as to why the job was not rescheduled and he told me that he had called McIntyre Mann while he was at my house (which I remember him doing) and spoke with Nathan and told him that the job needed rescheduled. Nathan told him that he would talk with Mindy and my salesperson, Patrick about rescheduling because they would need to speak with me since the job would now cost more. I was never contacted by Patrick or any representative of McIntyre Mann about extra cost or re-scheduling. By 10:30am I still had not been called back so I tried Mindy again. I was told that she was on another call and that Nathan would help me. Nathan admitted to speaking with the contractor and said that he had spoken with Patrick and Patrick should have called me back. Nathan accepted responsibility for not following up with Patrick. Nathan the told me that I had two options. I could either pay an additional $800 and have the original job completed or I could use another product that would not require removing the two inches of mud. If I chose the new product it would be around another week before the job could be rescheduled but it would be a little cheaper. I actually chose option three which they never mentioned. I decided to cancel my order and get a refund. I didn’t want to even think about trying to reschedule and have to put up with more disappointment, up charges, and rescheduling. If you use this company, my recommendation would be to keep in constant contact with them and don’t wait for them to call you.
Description of Work: Contracted to install carpeting and wood flooring purchased for McIntrye Mann
Description of Work: Sent installation person who did not speak English. |They promised to send out someone to assist.......and then didn't. |This first installer (tile) left the front door open which allowed a significant amount of dust into the entire house. We felt stone-walled by their management. Basically, their position was that simply could not have happened. I have photos and materials that show otherwise. They made no on-site visit. |After complaining again, the 2nd day one of the two workers spoke English. Almost two weeks later, another crew came and installed new carpet. They noted the tile had been broken on the previous installation that was hidden from view. They contacted management who RELUCTANTLY sent some one to fix the problem the next day. No compensation for having to clean virtually our entire first floor was ever offered. |Overall................I'd not recommend this company to anyone.

We received a very competitive estimate. We were pleased with the installation and service. The only glitch was that the old carpeting was not removed within 24 hours as promised. However, as soon as I called to inquire about the pickup, a truck arrived within a few hours.

We bought the hardwood flooring from Flooring Liquidators of KC. This company is owned by Gaylord and Sherman Johnson, owners of Carpet One, MacIntyre Mann. The flooring itself was fine and the sale was fine. What wasn't was the installation. On Monday 12/5, they were suppose to arrive between 8-10 and showed up at 10:40. They did not check to make sure the base sub-floor was level to lay down the new hardwood floor. (we watched a video after the fact on a Lowe's website and this is when we learned installers are to level flooring before laying down new wood.) I saw that the floor was uneven as they were installing the floor and told them. They removed a couple of boards and put them back on saying they fixed it. They did not complete the job and returned the following day. When they finished, we were told someone would be over to finish where the rug meets the wood. We were also told we would need to paint the new 1/4 rounds. We hadn't been told that. They were suppose to have come painted. We examined our floor after they left and found numerous dings in the wood from the tool they used to pound the wood in. Some boards were split and needed to be replaced. Every time a board is replaced, more dings and now nail holes needed to be caulked and stained. They were still rises in the floor due t an uneven sub-floor. The rug guy did not show up for a couple of days, nor a painter for the 1/4 rounds. I called the company and they said they would make sure a claim installer rep. would come and look at the floor. It was now day 11 of install.. The claim rep. was Nathan Johnson, a nephew of owners. He felt we were being picky. I told him I didn't buy a scratch and dent sale floor. By the time the install was finished: 1/4 rounds installed and painted, boards replaced and cleaned, dent marks and scratches covered with caulk and stain, numerous calls to Nathan unanswered and when answered, were rudely answered, calls to installer, rudely answered. On 12/21, now day 17, 2 different installers came over to replace some bad boards, fix up more spots, and floor was now so called complete. This entire time our kitchen was filled with living room furniture. The kitchen was almost useless as was the living room. It was 4 days before Christmas and no decorations were up. We also found out they had over measured an extra 53 feet and had taken away boards that had splits in them. Since we paid for the wood, we should have been given the option to keep the wood or let them dispose of it. After the job was complete, we contacted the owners by mail with a day to day detail of our installation and experience with their staff. They sent us a check for the extra square footage they charged us, but that was all that was in the envelope. There was no apology, phone call, reparation for days lost in house, meals, etc. If they even said that they were sorry, here is a dinner on us, that would have showed they care for the customer. But, they didn't. There was no apology. We didn't feel they cared at all. I will not refer to them to anyone and will continue to share my experience with everyone I know. This was a nightmare and an expensive one. I could have hired a couple other companies but they guaranteed a 2 day install and that is what we wanted and needed.
Description of Work: We purchased hardwood flooring for our living room and hallway. We were guaranteed a two day completed job. It took 17 days from start to finish to complete the job.

We were happy with the price and the carpet was high quality. Installation overall went well. They moved the furniture and did a good job on clean up and not marking up walls. There was some confusion about installation instruction, ie; the tile installer thought he was to do the entry and had to reschedule to do the bathroom as he didn't have the needed materials. Installers did not have the correct instructions on stair carpet installation. We did get a credit for the work that they didn't do. Still waiting for a couple of installation problems to be fixed. They have been slow in fixing the requested issues. The carpet and price were good, however, so I would use again.

Overall - I consider this a really bad experience I will try not to repeat. That is one reason I have now joined Angie's list.
Description of Work: Patrick, the sales manager, was helpful describing the carpet I selected. When I stated that I was going to shortly have a wooden floor installed in my living room and dining room, and asked if they could remove the carpeting in these areas at the time of installation into the three bedrooms, stairway and upper hall, he asked no questions but charged me for the labor to remove furniture. He verbally again and again assured me he wanted to schedule his best crew to install the carpet. The two-man crew arrived promptly and quickly moved furniture into other rooms. This included 6-foot high book shelving units filled with books that I had not had a chance to pack into boxes which I had purchased. The crew was professional throughout their time in my home. However, a problem arose when they looked into the living and dining room, then called Patrick, and I was told that I had too much furniture and even though already billed for moving it, they would not be doing it and I would receive a refund. In the living room was a normal-sized sofa, one chair and footstool, 4-foot-high 3-feet-wide cabinet on which the television sits and which I had already emptied, one end table, and a desk - yes the desk is large, but sits next to the kitchen and could have been moved through the 4-foot doorway into the kitchen, a move of about 3-feet to the kitchen floor. The dining room had a 4-foot-wide china cabinet that I had emptied, a table with four chairs, and a Chinese-like screen. In neither room was there what I consider "too much furniture". Patrick never asked me what furniture I had in the rooms, but on the telephone the day of installation he stated that I had said there was no furniture in either room when he had talked with me at the time of purchase. All I can say is that I would not have said that unless it was true, and do not remember him asking me about the presence of furniture. When moving the bookshelves from one bedroom back into another bedroom after installation of the carpet, I found that a small hole, about 1/2-inch across, had been made in the bedroom wall. The crew chief replastered and sanded it, but I was left to repaint it along with the scrape made to the wall and the door frame that was scraped as furniture was removed from the room. After the crew left I had the time to quietly walk around and really look, I found portions of walls scraped also in the master bathroom (which was partially carpeted) and the stairwell. I also found indentations in the wood-stained door frame at the bottom of the stairs that I have not been able to hide with filler or other method. I found when trying to touch-up the paint that the color had changed over time and had to repaint the bedroom, stairwall, and master bathroom to restore them to the condition beofre the installation. Although beofre my purchase Patrick had periodically telephoned asking if I had made a decision to purchase carpet from him and told me on the telephone the day of installation that he would refund the amount I had been charged for moving dining room and living room furniture, he mailed the refund to my street address (although I have had a post office box for two years by that time). Frankly, I have been so upset about the needed repainting and repair to my home caused by the his "best" installation crew , I have not stopped by the store for my refund. Of course, although he knows my street address and telephone number, Patrick has neither telephoned me nor brought it to the house in the nine months since installation. I had had carpet replaced in my previous home (in another state) in which a small living room was filled with so much furniture I would call it wall-to-wall. However, I had no walls or floor/mop board scraped, so my experience this time was very, very different and not expected. I would purchase the carpet again, but certainly will never recommend or consider using this business again.

THE CARPET LOOKS VERY NICE AND HAS HELD UP WELL IN THE INITIAL WEEKS SINCE THE INSTALLATION. THE SALESMAN WAS QUITE NICE AND HELPFUL WHEN WE CAME OUT TO DO THE MEASUREMENT AND ESTIMATE. IF WE HAD ANY QUALMS AT ALL, IT WAS THAT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO GET AHOLD OF SOMEONE AFTER WE'D PAID OUR DEPOSIT. TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT WHEN INSTALLATION WOULD BE DONE, ETC. WE NEVER HEARD FROM ANYONE AFTER IT WAS INSTALLED. A FOLLOW UP WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE.
