HERMES LANDSCAPING

The work that Hermes did in my backyard was amazing. They transformed my backyard into a usable space and put in a retaining wall on 3 sides of my yard. They also added drainage to the backyard to prevent water getting into my basement. They were easy to work with and made adjustments as requested.

Hermes was responsive and professional and provided a plan exactly as we needed. We couldn't be happier with their work and their entire staff. Gilbert was a very professional designer and was very attentive to our needs. Alex was very helpful in all the work and spent time assisting us in the workings of the firepit. He knew what we needed before we even asked. Thank you, Hermes Landscaping for your assistance in this project. We love it!

They are the best! They are very professional and always get the job done. Even though there are no issues, they always check in to make sure everything is going well.

Not happy. Did not do basic soil preparation when planting plants. They just dug a hole in the clay soil and planted. They were supposed to bring in topsoil, but that didn't happen till after the fact upon my request. They did dump a load for me to use to build up some mounds that were supposed to have been done. Plants were "Tiny". Some looked like "Starter" plants. Paid a high price for sub par work. The main reason I hired Hermes was to do a retaining wall out of large rock, and that had to be re-done as it was placed incorrectly and installed all the way to the property line and should have been set back several feet from the line. They did provide 2 nice trees, but one of them died less than a year later and was replaced by one that wasn't as nice as the original. Should have known not to go with them when the sales person didn't show up for the original appointment. Did not even call. When I called, they said they got pulled into working on a larger commercial estimate.

Initial contact was erratic but once Gilbert got on the job it went perfect, great ideas, carry through and met our budget. Personnel very friendly and responsive to some of our ideas. They brought great ideas and we love the work

always done well and on time.

We worked with Jarrett, who was professional, knowledgeable, and punctual. We were never "put off" and he was always available when we had questions or concerns. Their Quote was the most reasonable that we found and the work was done in a timely manner. The patio is beautiful and very well constructed and the landscaping is lovely. We love our new backyard area and we will be enjoying it for years to come! I would definitely hire Hermes again for future landscaping.

Hermes recently completed a landscaping project around an area for a new hot tub at our home. Our landscape designer, Keith Runyan was extremely knowledgeable and did a fantastic job enhancing the landscape design we had in mind. The work was done on time and turned out better than we could have imagined. I was extremely impressed with the post project walk thru and thorough instruction provided for the care of each plant and tree. If I have another project, I’ll be calling Hermes again!

I have a very established yard that made me anxious to even think about someone taking a shovel and digging large trenches in the grass. We have changed our landscaping from 17 years ago when the house was built which has made the old system irrelevant. The showed up bright and early on a Wednesday morning and got right to work. The crew was superb! Always willing to answer questions and never acted like I was interrupting, which I am sure I was at times. They had no choice but to dig large, deep, long trenches in my manicured sod. I felt like I would die when watching. But then they put the sod back and I couldn't believe my eyes, my yard was still a yard. You have to really look to see where they even ran the new lines for 5 additional stations and 44 new heads! Once done, they walked through with me and adjusted anything that I thought needed extra water or turned a bit and took all the time I needed. Them the sales person came back and relax walked everything inspecting and making sure it all looked wonderful. They both went over the very user friendly controller to make sure I understood everything completely! They made easy work of a job that had me very apprehensive! I couldn't have asked for anymore!

It went just fine.

My husband and I got several estimates for a patio installation with landscaping. The estimates were all in the same price range. However, Chris, the Landscape Designer listened to our rambling ideas and managed to come up organized visuals that brought our patio to life. Before the actual installation of the patio, Chris came out to show us samples of the pavers and plant options. He explained the process step by step so we would know what to expect. As soon as the weather was suitable, the workers came out to start. They made sure they didn't tear up the rest of the lawn, were efficient, courteous and cleaned the area at the end of the day and at the end of the job. The workers were able to get in touch with Armando, the Project Manager, very quickly if we had any concerns or questions during the installation. The problems were resolved quickly. Both Chris and Armando were readily available for consultation. At the end of the job, Chris came back out for a final walk through. Our patio is beautiful. We are just waiting for the weather to cooperate so we can enjoy our new outdoor oasis.

Update 6/25/14--Dead bushes have been replaced and my chosen rocks installed (no added charge) to replace the old ones. Had our final walk-through and everything seems to have been resolved. It was a long ordeal to get things finished up, but the workmen on the final install were very good. Gave our final payment with fingers crossed! Original review: The plan was very nice and the initial contact with the designer was very pleasant. We requested local drought resistant plantings that are low maintenance. We also had the designer install an irrigation system for the new plantings. We ordered rock edging around the main plantings. I liked the fact that the designer was willing to keep a few of the older plants to blend in with the new plantings. All of the workmen and the foreman were also very pleasant to work with. Plants were delivered in March and were very tiny--very disappointing for a professional landscaper quality. We believe we could have bought this quality at a local nursery. Some of the plants were obviously dead with roots exposed. It took 2 months to convince the representative that they would not "bounce back." The 3 holly bushes had brown and crispy leaves. Representative stated that sometimes they are like that in the fall--it was spring! The dead and dying plants are embarrassing and still have not been replaced to date. An area of the front yard where the irrigation system crossed into the side planting area is cracked open and has no sod as had been promised. The "boulders" that I requested on the side island area looked like large flat rocks. One was replaced and did not match any of the other stonework. I was told to go to the rock distributor to pick out ones that I might like. I did this, and was told that I would be charged an additional amount to replace them which was twice as much as if I dealt with the rock distributor myself. Another concern was that the estimate was not itemized so we never knew the individual prices of each part of the design. Also disturbing was the pressure for payment of the remainder of the bill before everything was successfully in place and living!

Quality of work was poor. Unresponsive to scheduled times. Stone work, especially stone path in an herb garden is unstable and dangerous to walk on. Took from May to October to get work done and bill. When the bill was presented I had heard a promotion on the radio that we qualified for.....$500.00 off total bill. It was not honored, but I was offered a 500.00 credit for some mulch that I could have gotten for half the cost at another nursery. I would not recommend them and don't want to have them back. This was some time ago and I'm not 100% certain of the date of services.

It went well. We learned about Hermes at the Overland Park Home and Garden Show. We wanted a patio to replace the weeds, overgrowth, pebbles and overall lack of attention that was prevalent in the backyard of the previous owned home we had purchased the prior Autumn. Hermes sent out someone for a free estimate. The designer took our concept and proceeded to draw out a plan that was aligned with our concept and was within our budget. We also requested a few other estimates from other organizations. Hermes came in right about in the middle, but we really liked the design that Hermes showed us. They also seemed to be a bit more realistic than the others about what was possible within our budget, which we appreciated. There were a few minor communication issues along the way, non-return of some phone calls, and some other minor miscues, but on hindsight, when there was some turnover with Hermes, we probably should have confirmed the plans in greater detail with our new designer and the company, rather than making assumptions that the plans were clearly understood by the others who were assigned to the project. The work crew was fantastic. From the crew supervisor, to the Residential Production manager, Armando, who was great to work with, we were most impressed with what their team. They cleaned up everyday, were very polite and professional. Armando kept us updated on the progress and visited frequently to verify the quality of the work and check in with us. When the heavy equipment that was used left some tire treads and dead grass in our side yard, the Hermes team took the time to smooth it out and reseed the area. You'd never know there was ever any tire tracks or heavy equipment there. We love our patio and have recommended Hermes to others who are considering similar projects. We've also shared before and after photos with the company to use if they'd like to show others what a great job they did for us.

They have been doing this for me for the past twenty years.
