7/25/24 We contracted with Adam Griest, owner of Dynamic Decksteriors, in 2022 for deck work. At the time of construction, a sprinkler line 6” underground was cut while digging a hole for one of the eight piers required for the project. The city building inspector satisfactorily passed all eight piers stating that they were all 36" deep. After two years, I noticed that water was coming out from under one of the piers because of the cut sprinkler line. The water eroded a small cavern under that pier and revealed that the pier was only 6" deep (a short pier). I brought this problem to Adam's attention on 3/16/24. In the past 4 months, he has yet to inspect the problem after having been sent multiple emails, photos, and videos explaining and illustrating the problem. All I have ever wanted was for him to honor his 10-year warranty on his work by fixing the short pier problem, repair the cut sprinkler line, and prove that the 7 other piers in the project are the correct depth. Phone calls to the office go to voicemail that states that all questions and concerns are to be emailed to Dynamic Decksteriors' sales department. The voicemail box is full and is unable to accept messages. His 10-year warranty is useless when he doesn't respond to emails, nobody answers the office phone, and the voicemail is full. Based on his inability/unwillingness to inspect the problem over the past 4 months, I can only draw the conclusion that he has no intention of honoring his 10-year warranty. This is the impetus for this review. We also filed a complaint with the BBB on 4/8/24. The complaint was closed on 5/31/24 by the BBB after Adam never responded to the complaint. While we are happy with the rest of the deck that encountered the typical problems, and fixed, during construction, we can not recommend Dynamic Decksteriors for your decking needs for failing to honor their warranty to fix this short pier. Dynamic Decksteriors appears to be affiliated with Deck N' Outdoor as they are located at the same address.
Description of Work: Resurface and rescreen a porch and added a deck.

Dynamic Decksteriors are failing. Web site down, no capital, being sued (more to be filed), unpaid building permits, poor workmanship, lies about supply availability, and much more dishonesty.

08/14/17 Update: We filed charges of fraud for $20k against Adam Griest and Dynamic Decksteriors. If Mr. Griest ever responds, we will drop all charges. We are also asking anyone who has been taken advantage of by Mr. Griest to file consumer complaints with their local district attorneys, as we have asked to have his license revoked. The more complaints each district attorney receives, the easier the process. The process to submit a complaint is easy. Here is the link to the Johnson County DA website. [*** Link removed ***] Just fill out the form and mail it in. Also be aware that the address on the Dynamic Deckstoriors' website is not valid. This caused us troubles when trying to serve court papers to Mr. Griest. Just another example of an untrustworthy contractor. Use this address: 11751 W. 86th Terrace Lenexa, KS 66214 Original Review: I highly discourage anyone from using Dynamic Decksteriors. They play games, like most contractors, where they take your money up front, then avoid completing the project and honoring repairs. This company requires most money up front for "ordering" materials. We signed with them even against our better judgment. We hired them for a $50k+ project, including a $20k retractable screen system. Once we paid 90% of the contract fees, Dynamic Decksteriors stopped showing up, even though half of the work still remained. My wife and I repeatedly call Adam Griest, the owner, asking when he would finish. Every week was a different excuse and promised to send crews to our house, "as soon as they were finished on other jobs." We asked why his crews were working on other jobs, when we've almost paid off our contract. He never would answer that question. A year and a half later, the project is mostly done, but they would not finish with repairs. I have attached several pictures of their poor quality of work, which they will not repair. The screen system does not work. We've asked for a refund on the screen system, but Adam Griest will not refund the money and is incapable of making repairs. He blames the manufacturer for the problems. I've contacted the manufacturer and am making repairs at my own expense. We are pursed legal action, but like most contractors of this type, Adam plans to file for bankruptcy to avoid paying. He'll just open up another business with a new name. If he ends up filing for bankruptcy, or not refunding the money for the screen system, we plan to file a criminal complaint against Adam with Johnson County's Consumer Protection Agency. That won't help get our money back, but we feel obligated to protect other consumers from these types of contractors. Other examples of poor craftsmanship are the stone veneers. We have stones that frequently fall off. We've asked Adam to repair them, with no response. Another example shows where his electrician ran a wire in an exterior wall. We found out that the electrician smashed all the installation into a ball, when running the wire, causing cold air to run down the wall in through the electrical box. The cold air ran into our kitchen, causing humidity to build up on the interior wall, resulting in water damage. I had to re-insulate the wall and rewire the electrical box at my own expense. We also never received a passing inspection from the City of Olathe. We asked several times for Dynamic Decksteriors to provide proof that we passed inspection. No response. We'd like to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, for what is obvious now, they are not members. Go figure. In short, save yourself a lot of energy, and protect your money. Pick another contractor.

This company requires most money up front for "ordering" materials. We signed with them even against our better judgment. Everything went very smooth through the process. They had a backlog so it took a while to get the job started but once they started they were at the house every day until it was complete. No trash or debris was left in the yard, everything was hauled away. The crew on site was knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions we had.
Description of Work: Installed new decks (one very small), repaired siding, replaced window.

Adam is great, very professional, alot of experience. Spent alot of time with us discussing plans for deck and roof we were adding. He brought samples of materials and reviewed all our various options. We haven't made a decision yet, not due to Adam, but trying to decide on PVC/composite products/colors since we will be changing our house color....hard to decide of his 4 color options which will work best since we haven't painted yet. He can get alot of other products but alot more expensive than the dealer he works with on a regular basis, so unfortunately I feel too limited. We liked Adam alot... we already discussed other projects because he mentioned that he does painting and patios which are both in our future.
Description of Work: So far just spent time with us going over deck/roof plans, color/product options for deck/railing. He met with us in the evening and took all the time we needed... i think he was there about 1.5 hrs. Very patient with my indecisive self!

The design process went smoothly. Our landscape architect from Rosehill Gardens drew out the size and basic layout as part of an overall design we had done. Adam helped us select all of the details. His team was very considerate and kept the site clean. Adam was onsite for a majority of the project, going over progress and questions with us throughout. One of the smoothest home improvement projects we've had done, and we've done several. I'm so glad we went with this company for the work. It's amazing how much difference the deck makes to the look of the house!
Description of Work: Creation of a large, second story deck. New, no existing deck. Included the creation of a door where only a window existed prior. The price was more than fair, given the size and complexity of the deck, plus the materials used.

We had a specific vision for how we wanted our screened in patio and deck to look and Adam helped us to realize it. We had several contractors look at the job but he was the only one that asked specific questions to understand what we wanted and provided full drawings to confirm our discussion. His crew was very clean and the project was finished in a timely manner with Adam overseeing the whole process, making sure we were aware of the progress of the job as well as the cost.
Description of Work: Design and build a deck and remodel a screened in patio.
