Our entire HVAC system was probably 30 to 35 years old, but the tech spent at least 2 hrs trying to do everything he could to revive it. When he realized that no amount of practical repair could bring it back to life, he called the office and a they quickly dispatched a rep that showed me several options for a new unit, as well as payment options, and what improved performance I could expect over my old unit. After making the selection, an appointment was set up to install the new system the next day. The service tech arrived precisely on time, and completed the removal of the old unit, installation of the new system, and testing of the system all in one day.
Description of Work: Our A/C condenser unit had stopped working. I called Anthony PAC and they sent a service tech out that same afternoon.

I was in the process of getting bids to have my AC and furnace replaced. Mike had come out last fall when I was first thinking about getting a new system, so when I contacted Anthony's last month after having AC issues, they sent Mike back out. He looked things over and took measurements in order to confirm what he had done last fall. His quote, for the identical system as others quoted, was $3,000-$4,000 higher than the other Angie's listed suppliers. In total, as part of the process, I spoke to 5 suppliers. No one else was even close to this estimate. Lesson reinforced. Always get multiple quotes.
Description of Work: Inspect heating and AC system, recommend and quote new system.

Response from Anthony Plumbing, Heating & Cooling
We appreciate the opportunity to earn the member’s business and are miffed that there was such a difference in price. We install approximately 100 systems in existing homes (no new housing) each month and offer a great value at competitive prices. I followed up with the member and he admitted that when he said “identical systems” he was referring to the equipment only, not the actual installation. He had not had his installation performed yet and he was keeping his fingers crossed that it would go well. Consumer Reports does not rate central heating and cooling systems because only a small percentage of how well a system functions is the equipment manufacturer. It is the installing company that determines how long a system lasts, how comfortable it will be, how quiet it will be, how safe it will be and how energy efficient it will be. So it is really impossible to say a system is “identical” because each company has their own staff of installers and installation methods. Our installers are highly trained, uniformed, drug free, felony free, backgrounds checked, wear photo identification and solely work in existing homes. I understand that our comfort advisor (Mike) was at the member's home when he had a “technician” out from a competing company to repair his system. Mike noted that the “technician” was wearing shorts, did not have carpet savers on his feet and was not wearing any photo identification. We have 5 page proposals that detail all the scope of work including one full page of guarantees that we provide with every installation to assure 100% satisfaction or your money is happily refunded. Our new systems include two full years of scheduled maintenance to assure that it is operating as efficiently as possible. Over the 60 years our company has been in business, we have learned a lot of quality techniques that provide for a much better job that most of our competitors choose not to do. Some examples of these (which we outline in our proposal) include operating new furnaces in our warehouse before they are installed so no odor or blue smoke goes into your home. We install two condensate drains off of cooling coils in case the primary drain becomes plugged, water will not run down into the furnace and cause a costly repair. Also, we include a theft deterrent system for your air conditioner which homeowners greatly appreciate with the abundance of air conditioners being stolen. There are seven systems involved in every heating and cooling installation; line voltage electrical, low voltage electrical, air distribution (supply ductwork, return ductwork, supply registers, return air grilles), refrigerant piping, condensate piping, vent piping and gas piping. Many short cuts can be taken in each area which makes for a less than quality system that few homeowners can discern. Our customers really determine what their investment will be by how long they will be staying in their homes. For the short term homeowner, we have the lowest priced properly installed system- guaranteed. For the homeowner that has no plans to ever move, we offer geothermal systems that have a greater initial investment but the lowest possible utility bills. And there are at least 6 efficiency choices in between these two for the same capacity of system. Our process is to educate homeowners on the options that will be best for them based on the information they have provided to us.

I noticed that the house had not been getting any cooler even though the AC had been running for hours. No cold air was coming through the vents. It was a Saturday morning and I assumed that I would be waiting until the next week to get somebody in to look at it. I called and got an appointment for the following Monday. Ten minutes later I got a call back and they said they had a spot open up and asked if I'd like somebody to come out and look at it that day. Of course I did. The tech was there a half hour later. He did a very thorough inspection and determined that I wasn't low on freon (as I had thought) but rather I had a severely clogged filter. He also took his time to explain exactly how he'd tested the system and made recommendations as to the best filter to use to avoid the problem again while still filtering out most of the junk. In the end I was only charged for the call and not for the diagnostic itself as the problem ended up being so simple. At the end I got a very brief no pressure sales pitch on their service plan. Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience and would definitely use them again.

We had a section of 4" cast iron waste pipe with a crack in it that water was gushing out of (unknown to us) with every flush of the toilet. I called Anthony P H & C early in the morning and they had Jerry out first thing after lunch. He was great! Very pleasant, presentable and knowledgable. He replaced the section with PVC and we were back in business within a couple of hours. I thought the service was exceptional; I was confident Jerry knew what he needed to do, & I thought the price was fair. I was very pleased and relieved to now know who to call when plumbing problems arise as they do occasionally in a 46 year old house.

Wonderful! I was expecting a sales pitch with the promo they offered, but instead Jeff was very projessional, on time, showed me what he inspected & cleaned. He didn't find anything wrong with our unit and didn't push us to purchase anything further. He did make us aware of services offered and any other specials. A great experience overall!

Straight 'A' service. I appreciated that they called back moments after the opened their doors on that Sunday morning, the technician was well coordinated with the office and very punctual. He identified the problem quickly and gave an honest response to my considerations with regard to fixing the problem myself the next day. Not pushy, so scar tactics to squeeze out a few more bucks. Not that I hope to need any A/C service anytime soon (or later for that matter), but if I do, I'd be happy to know a company like this.

The service tech came out on a Sat. to diagnose the noise problem. He ordered a new part which he installed the next week. That didn't solve the problem, so he ordered a different part and installed it. That seemed to have fixed the noise problem. The tech was very professional and thorough in finding the right part to fix the problem. I would recommend this company to anyone needing new equipment or just repair. The employees are courteous, professional and prompt.

When I called, I mentioned that I was calling from Angie's list and Linda told me to print off the coupon for 1/2 off the service call, but that there would be a $5 gas charge. I thought that was part of the service call charge. Anyway, he arrived early, but I was called first. He was here maybe 15 minutes and was finished. He wore booties in the house to turn the water off and back on and to settle the bill. He was very pleasant. He also talked about the service agreement for the heating and air conditioning and plumbing that they have. There was no pressure to purchase it. However, I was taken aback by the amount charged for the service rendered. It's been a few days and they're not leaking anymore.

Our A/c stopped blowing cold, so I called Anthony PHC based on the reviews from this site. I called at 9:30 at night, but did not state it was an emergency and they could call me when they arrived in the office at 7:00am. I received a call at 7:30am the next morning and scheduled an appointment the same day later in the afternoon. Anthony PHC called me when they were on their way and services were performed. All in all, a very good experience. The only suggestion for Anthony PHC that I might have is, and this is minor, that the Service Call fee be waived if you actually do the repairs with their company. There is a $79 service call fee plus a $5.00 fuel charge to come to your house. Through Angie's List, you can get the service fee cut to $40, but again, I think they should be able to waive that fee. Thanks Angie and Anthony!!

I previously had had some very minor work done by Anthony PHC and based on that experience, I knew that I wanted them to do the major work we needed. The initial assessment was done promptly, with many questions asked about what our needs and expectations were, and honest explanations about what was and wasn't possible to achieve in our old house. I received the estimate very quickly and we were able to schedule the work to start soon. Our technician, Mike Weller, is amazing and one of the hardest working folks I have ever met. His scheduled help was sick and he ended up staying incredibly late that first day to make sure that our air was functioning. The second day of work had to be delayed a couple of days due to some other emergencies, but the three-man crew finished up in one day. Again, Mike was there late after the others left, and made sure everthing was functioning perfectly. Everyone was very pleasant during the entire process and I appreciated the updates from the main office about what was going on and when to expect things. We may well have been able to get the work done for less money, but know we wouldn't have gotten the value and quality anywhere else.

I said No on whether I would use them in the future because I am unsure. I cannot give a definitive yes because I am still unhappy about the way I was treated FOLLOWING the appointment. I was unhappy because they "piece-mealed" the job, i.e. presented me with things that needed to be repaired and after fixing something - and me committing to the money - they would come up with something else to be fixed. But what really set me over the edge was when someone called to "follow-up" on the service call. I had submitted a comment card, but I think the person was actually calling to hopefully get me to commit to another year service plan. When I complained about how the job was billed/conducted he said he would pass on my complaints and someone else (service manager?) would be contacting me about it - then he promptly hung up. That was two weeks ago and I've heard from no one. Not following up with an unhappy customer is a customer service issue, they don't really care about what I think. The service technician was prompt, professional, pleasant, and he remained professional and pleasant even after I got upset about being "piece-mealed". In response to Anthony's response below, there was no "issue" when they came out to my house, it was a regular service call and so I am not sure what the "unavoidable" circumstances are that they are talking about. Also, "our understanding was that everything was cleared up and taken care of to your satisfaction"? I have NO IDEA where they would get that impression. I was very clear with the technician that came to my house as well as the CSR that did the follow up call that I was not happy. As far as their trying "on several occastions to reach me..." I have only spoken with the service technician and the customer service rep that followed up on the intial ASAP service call. The CSR that called quickly got off the phone once I expressed my concerns telling me that a manager would be calling me. When I received no follow up call, I posted my complaint on Angie's List, then I got a call - in the middle of the work day on the day before I was to leave on vacation. The person that called said that he has spoken with me before so I assumed that it was the same CSR I spoke to initially, maybe it wasn't but we did not discuss anything. I got back from vacation late last night and my AC is not working. Since I have an existing ASAP plan with Anthony I've submitted a service request via their website. I am NOT very encouraged after reading their misleading response below.
Description of Work: A service technician came to my house to service my AC. He checked it thoroughly, filled the freon, replaced a part, and there was another part that he said "was about to go" that I would not allow him replace.

Response from Anthony Plumbing, Heating & Cooling
Thank you for allowing us to be of service to you. We value you as a customer and regret that there are concerns with the service you received on your air conditioner maintenance visit. Ideally, when our trained technician inspects your heating and cooling system, he will uncover any and all potential concerns and then present all of his findings to you. However, there are times when the technician will run into additional concerns with the system as he is working to fix the initial issue. We would prefer that this never happen, but it can be unavoidable in certain instances. We regret that this scenario caused you to feel like we were “piece-mealing” the services to you. It was not our intention for things to be presented this way. Regarding your concerns about a lack of follow up about this situation, there were two separate people who had spoken with your regarding your concerns; a Customer Service Representative and our Customer Service Manager. Our understanding was that everything was cleared up and taken care of to your satisfaction. We obviously misinterpreted those conversations and apologize deeply for that. We have tried on several occasions to reach you to discuss your concerns more thoroughly and to help come to a resolution of your liking. When you have a moment, please respond to one of our messages, as we would love to discuss this matter with you further.

The folks at Anthony HVAC were very prompt in answering my calls and a customer rep came to my home to speak with me about replacing my old systems. Jason was very professional and explained the process to me so that I could understand how the systems worked. The day of the installation, Brandon was prompt and got to work quickly. Although it was a noisy process, I feel he did a good job and left my basement cleaner that it was when he started. The outside unit(ac) was installed well and looks nice. During the day, Jason, the salesman came to check on the progress and answer any questions I had. Anthony's plumber came to install the new hot water tank and took away the old ones. The installation looks nice and the plumber explained the process and answered my questions. When Brandon finished the installation, he answered my additional questions and showed me how the system works. He made sure I knew the important facts about operation of my HVAC.
Description of Work: I bought this one owner home last year and moved into it in March. The heating system was original to the house(1978) and obviously very inefficient. The a/c was newer but also having problems. I decided to replace both systems as well as the hot water tanks(2).

This was another fine example of Anthony's professionalism and great service. Clint Ballard arrived promptly and got right to work evaluating our entire AC system. He did a thorough job. When done, he said that everything was fine except for the dead electrical unit on the outside AC unit. He showed me the unit and demonstrated to me with his meter how it had no juice. He had a replacement part in his vehicle and replaced it right away. He has a real knack for explaining the problem and fix in lay terms that anyone can understand, which I really appreciated.
Description of Work: I signed up for Anthony's annual check-up of our HVAC system (annual cost of about $150). This check-up was for the AC (so about $75 or half the annual amount). Everything was fine except for an electrical unit that operates the motor on the outside AC unit. That electrical unit was dead and our AC was operating solely off of a booster unit, and it was just to max out itself. Anthony replaced the dead electrical unit for a cost of $89 (a discount because I had a coupon from Anthony for referring a customer to them). The AC had been kicking on quite hard and rattling vents when it kicked on, but now it comes on very smoothly. Had we not known about the problem, there is no question our AC would have died sometime during the summer.

Rodger Hamilton from Anthony arrived promptly as scheduled. He first examined the leakage to determine its source. He immediately noted that it was coming from a deteriorated/broken pipe behind the wall under our kitchen sink. He explained to me why the leak had occurred (poor workmanship of a prior plumber when we had some remodeling done - a needed gasket had never been installed). He suggested rerouting the plumbing under the sink so that the water would flow more logically and any future work would be easier to access. He told me what the cost would be before doing any work. He then set to work and worked very efficiently to get it corrected. Rodger did an outstanding job locating the problem, fixing it, and cleaning up afterwards. He worked very efficiently and provided a very easy to understand explanation of the problem and fix. What I really like about Anthony's service folks is that they always explain to you what the problem is, what it will take to fix it, and the cost - in language we can understand. We thought the cost to fix the problem was very reasonable.
Description of Work: We had a major leak under our kitchen sink. The pipe that was broken was actually in the wall and was leaking into the basement down a wall by our circuit breaker. Anthony replaced the pipe and rerouted it in a more logical manner. The reason we had a leak was because a prior plumber (not from Anthony) had incorrectly installed the pipe when we had some remodeling done in the basement.

I called Anthony Plumbing to fix a leak in my kitchen faucet. The technician recommended replacing the faucets since they wrere old. But when I saw how much it would be ($900), I opted for just having the leak fixed. A second leak wasn't fixed because it would have involved removing the faucet and there was a danger in breaking it because of its age. I would have had the faucet replaced but couldn't afford it. I was surprised at how expensive it was to fix a simple leak. The technician was professional but I think he was having an off-day. He took a long time in checking to see if the faucet was in stock because his phone wasn't working right. He left some supplies and a tool behind because he was running behind schedule and was in a hurry. He was also late at meeting me at my house. They called me to say he was on his way and I rushed home from work. It turned out that I had to wait 20 more minutes before he arrived. I've used Anthony before and was very satisfied. This visit didn't turn out as smoothly as the ones in the past. I have their service agreement program and will use them again in the future.

When I talked with Anthony's, they said they could not come out same day unless we joined their membership. The membership was $159 annually and included annual checks of the heating and cooling system, ASAP service on outages, lowered cost on after hours services and % off on other services. Since we have this done at an additional cost annually anyway, we thought it was well worth it. Anthony's was on time (earlier than what we thought it would be) and replaced the start assist component on the air unit. Gary was the service tech and was VERY professional, polite and explained what he was going to do before he did it. The cost was right for the service and Gary was quick in getting it done. I was extremely satisfied and pleased with the service provided. Gary was great and my cat even liked him! GREAT JOB, Anthony's! I will definately use them again!

They are very reasonable and very professional. They could improve on the customer service of the water heater plan and improve the dispatch on the water heater people. They are very knowledgeable and know our requirements. I would rate them high overall. I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Anthony Plumbing Heating & Cooling for heating and A/c. The last time I used them was six weeks ago for servicing my air conditioner.

He showed up on time and worked late until job was done. We were pleased with the quality of the work and feel that his solution to our flooding problem will work. He cleaned up completely and was very knowledgeable about how to deal with our problem.
