No doubt - if you want the job done right - call Anthony! I called Anthony because of the good rating on Angies list. A service tech (Larry) arrived at my house that day, in fact they called me back and he was able to get to me in less than 2 hours. More impressive than showing up quickly was the service tech that showed up to fix my hot water heater issue. Upon looking at it for less than 30 seconds, Larry showed and explained what had happened in terms I could understand. He further explained various options (tankless hot water heaters, replacment of the 50 gallon unit) with the needed Thermal expansion tank (to prevent this from happing again). To be honest I was SHOCKED at the replacment cost... $1500 bones for a hot water heat --- OUCH!!! The hot water heater replacement was $1297 and the needed Thermal expansion was $287. Larry gave me such confidence in him just by simply explaining everything I had total confidence that this would be done right. So I said to heck with it - I'm not shopping around lets just get this done - He had it installed in a matter of 2-3 hours. While he was installing it I was feeling sick to my stomach at how much this cost so I quick shopped around (even though it was to late) to use someone else (as the work had begun). I googled Home Depot and linked to their hot water service parnter, AB May and they quoted me $1354 ($50 higher than Anthony) for just the hot water heater installed (take away the old one). So after that I was feeling pretty good because with the Thermal Expansion unit I had put in also, the cost was actually cheaper. I am sure I could have tackled the job this weekend with my Dad (who knows how to do this kind of work) and saved $400 to $500 but we would have been working on it ALL DAY and trying to figure out where to take the old one. Plus with all the sodering/connecting of pipe, making sure it was done right etc etc... It was worth it to have an expert do it. I can say this after dealing with 5-10 contractors/service folks - Larry was a MASTER OF HIS CRAFT. I knew he if ran into any issues during the install, he would know how to work around it. A company that does contracting work on your house is ONLY as good as their people and this guy was an expert. I can say it was much easier paying out $1525 because of the expert work done here. This is the only company I will call or use in the future because I have had nitwit, fly by night jack of all trades types do work for me before --- it's not worth highering someone who you can't be 100% sure about.
Description of Work: My 50 gallon hot water heater (only used for 1.5 years) was leaking and in-operable. I later found out it prematurly "expired" due to no Thermal Expansion Tank. This tank allows prevents expansion/contraction that heat can cause on your hot water heater. Thus my relativly new 50 gallon tank needed replacement.

Everything about the experience was excellent--other than the price. The plumber was knowledgeable, personable and worked efficiently. He answered questions thoroughly and was not defensive. The entire process of replacing the the faucet took under 2 hours so this seems like a high hourly wage. We will use them again when we have complex plumbing work but not for more simple things where a "handy man" will do.

The young lady on the phone was super friendly and was able to find me an opening later the same day. The technician (Steve) arrived right on time, so no waiting around. He listened to our problems and was able to make a number of minor adjustments to our system that will definitely help. He also took the time to educate me on some of the system workings that will help going forward. The best part, it was cheap, thanks in part to the Angie's List coupon!

Description of Work: I contacted Anthony Plumbing, Heating and Cooling to first schedule a cleaning of my current furnace. They came out within a few days, and Mike Whitestone(sp) did an excellent job, being very careful and wore protective covers on his shoes when entering and leaving my home. During the cleaning, he told me that per the date on my furnace, it was 30 years old. After he had finished and went over everything done and cleaned, I asked about having someone come out and give me an estimate on a new system. He called and we set up an appointment a week later, and Mike Tres came out to my home. He checked out everything on both my furnace and central air, and the vents. He advised me that they had a package deal going on now, buy a new central air unit and get a furnace free. After going over several prices and options, I decided on the York system. We setup a date for Thursday with Mike Weller and his helper Brandon to install both units. They arrived on time and took their time installing both, double checking each conection and I really appreciated his detail to the little things as well as the main ones done. They found a slight crack in the internal chambers of the old furnace that would lead to future carbon gas problems. I thanked them for showing me that, and was glad to be replacing it. Mike Weller and his helper, Brandon, worked that day until 9:00 to 9:15 p.m. that night, and I had heat before he left, but he said he would be back on the following Monday to finish. Mike returned as promised, and finished, doing a GREAT JOB! I would hire them again in the future for sure!

I have used APHC for semi-annual service, and always had very professional service. Last summer we had a problem with our 6 year old AC (installed by another company before we owned the house.) So we decided to replace the coils and 80% in-efficient (pun intended) 15 year old furnace before it became an emergency. An Anthony tech came out and looked at our system and said he wasn't sure the coils actually needed to be replaced. He wrote me up a bid, then said he would send someone to use a "sniffer" and check on the coils. They told me my coils were actually fine, that the system was probably low on refrigerant when it was installed. (saved me $900!) I ended up installing a 96% efficient furnace and an upgraded humidifier, and didn't have to pay for something I didn't really need. That doesn't happen often! The techs were knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. They laid tarps everywhere they walked to protect my flooring, and were very tide in general. They explained maintenance and use of the new system and informed me of my warranty. I give my HIGHEST recommendation to Anthony and their professional and honest installers. THANK YOU!!

I called based on the reviews listed on angieslist. I have a bedroom with very little air coming through the vents. All other vents in the home have air coming through. I called to make an appointment and was able to get one scheduled the next day. Gary was the tech that came to my home. He arrived on time, was very polite, knowledgable, and professional. He was able to reconnect the supply boot to the duct, reconnected two return end caps and sealed, and used foil tape to partially reseal coil. He was very honest about the work that needed to be done and since my unit is older he gave me suggestions on the duct work and catch tray that might need to be replaced in the future. He then went around the home to ensure that the air supply was distributing evenly. I appreciate his assistance and will be recommending Anthony's Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling to everyone and Gary. Thank you!

The technician was on-time, very polite, and through!
Description of Work: Our heater was being mercurial and when the technician came it was actually working. He checked everything and couldn't find the "silver bullet" cause and was able to change a service call to a maintenance call and cleaned my whole unit. He was right! It hasn't failed since and because I went with their maintenance plan, he'll come again and clean the A/C in April. Will definitely use them again.

Anthony gets a complete thumbs down from me.
Description of Work: I never got past the initial telephone call. The female who answered the phone was rude and clueless. I had a couple of questions, but instead of being professional and getting an answer for me, she just said, "I have no idea, Can I schedule you for Thursday?" I was interested in having someone come out and check the seal on my toilet, but I had some questions. I decided to call another Angie's List plumbing company so I called Lutz and they were completely professional and wonderful to deal with!

We regret we were not able to convey the benefits of having a trained, certified professional plumber in the home to inspect the situation and answer all of her questions onsite. It is in the best interest of the homeowner to have a trained technician provide on onsite evaluation and offer solutions. We value the opportunity we had to serve and we hope to earn the business in the future.

Installation went great. The installer (Harold) was all by himself but was able to get the entire job done with very little help from me. I did help fish one wire for the upstairs thermostat; but, my part was pretty minor and didn't take more than five minutes. The estimator had mis-measured one of the duct diameters so Harold had the wrong size damper for one of the ducts. He called the company and within an hour someone brought out the proper size damper. Harold was very professional, friendly and courteous.
Description of Work: Installed an Arzel pneumatic damper system to convert our single-zone HVAC system into a two-zone system. We live in a two-story house so having the second story on a separate zone enables us to heat/cool the bedrooms (second floor) to a comfortable level for sleeping without having to overheat/overcool the first floor. We are now able to program the first floor thermostat to a more economical setting during the sleeping hours.

The quote he gave me was awful lot of money. They did a good job. The person they sent out had disconnected and connected it perfectly. I then got another quote which was much higher and I used Anthony again because I knew the guy had done a good job disconnecting it. I first thought that their price was sky high but then I discovered that their price was right. The job required a small person because they had to crawl out of the window up on the flat roof and then on the top roof. The air conditioner is on the third roof. The guy who came had done this kind of job before. He had to use a ladder from the second floor to go up to the third roof. He knew exactly what he was doing. When he disconnected he had a red gadget which he said that had to be plugged back into the electric connection. They told me how much it would cost before they did the job and they told me that I need to pay only that much. They stuck to their quote and did not charge me anything extra. Their prices were average but the person was very knowledgeable and knew exactly how to get there. He had to disconnect both the electricity and the Freon lines. Since the air conditioner was so old he had to disconnect the Freon lines. Other might have asked me to buy a new one, but he was not like that. I would rate them high. My regular air conditioner company does not even do this kind of job.
Description of Work: I used Anthony Plumbing Heating & Cooling to disconnect an air conditioner put up on the roof. It was hard to get to and they had to completely disconnect it because we had reroof the roof. They then had to connect it again.

The tech came the same evening I called and completed the work that evening. He identified the problem as a corroded wire that had shorted out the computer board. He patched the wire and replaced the board. After the work was done, I was not convinced the board was bad and called them back to check this out. They were very professional when I challenged their integrity and sent another tech over to confirm that the work was done properly.

I had to reset the toilet in the upstairs bathroom, due to a painting project. After resetting the toilet on a Friday night, my wife and I left town for the weekend. We came home to water dripping into our kitchen on the main floor. The plumber diagnosed the problem to be a leaky shut off valve to the toilet. He replaced the shut off valve, hose between shut off valve and toilet, and reset the toilet with a new wax ring. The plumber (Steve) was very professional with his work. He wore the foot covers to ensure he did not bring dirt into our home. He explained what he was doing and why he was doing it. I was able to ask him some other plumbing questions, and he gave me his insight on how to fix them. I would recommend using Anthony's for your plumbing needs. They were GREAT!.

As stated above, I only received an estimate from this company, and then chose to purchase a water heater elsewhere.
Description of Work: I only received an estimate on the replacement of a 50 gallon gas water heater. The gentleman that visited my home was very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He offered good information about what to use as a replacement if I would stay in this home long term or if only for a few years. I chose another company because I believe the water heater they carried gave me more for the money, in reference to energy efficiency. It had a higher EF rating (.67 as opposed to .58) and double the insulation for the same amount of money. Also the chosen water heater has a 12 year warranty as opposed to the 6 year warranty on the Anthony water heater.

We spoke with this client and are disappointed not to have earned her business. Our warranty comes with 24-7 emergency service, 6 years parts, 2 years labor, satisfaction guaranteed or your money back, something not offered by the big box stores. Additionally, we stock parts to honor warrantees and assure our customers will never have to take a cold shower.

I found them on Angie's List. They had a $15 coupon. They were really good. They came out pretty fast. It was fine, but they charged me a whole lot of money. It was way too much. I figured out how to stop it with a piece of clay by the time they got here. Also, the furnace was leaking and I had them take a look at it. They told me that nothing was wrong with it. They said this when the furnace was actually leaking and there was water all over the basement floor. They should have known this.

They knew that we were on Angie's List and so he gave us a discount. It still leaked a little, so they had to come back and work on it again. They had to do it twice. They got here right away. We use them all the time. We appreciate that they try to explain everything. If something happened to cause the problem to keep leaking, they explained it, so we could understand and watch for any other problem. It is just not what they do but it is also the kind of plumbing we have, so we appreciate that they try to explain everything in detail. It is the same with our furnace, and they explain everything when they are working or inspecting the furnace or the air conditioner. We appreciate that because we are not real knowledgeable, and it helps us when they explain the workings of everything and the plumbing, and when things might be ready to go. Our garbage disposal is not working and they are going to have to work on that now.

In my view, Quotes from Anthony were WAY out of range as compared to 4 other reputable businesses. I was without heat but thankfully took the time to conduct online research and had 5 onsite evaluations/ quotes proposed. Dan from Anthony proposed best option to be a Single-stage operation York TM9X Furnace; Heating capacity of 80,000 BTU/HR; efficiency of 95% AFUE, 60?120 Mbh input, high-efficiency motor which was 4 levels down from the higher efficiency I ended up buying from his competitor based on cost/benefit expectations. During the initial sales call, Dan the sales man spent much time looking at the current layout, visiting and attempting to build relationship. Finally when he was coming up with the quote he pulled up a seat to sit next to the space heater in the garage to keep warm while he referenced his ?pricing sheet" to figure options. Because I was without heat and needed to act quickly I requested a one shot quote. I still had to "haggle" with him and in the end he made it sound like he was giving me "that special final deal" and was at the bottom line for the pricing he come up with. He left it as he couldn't go ANY better and I was getting the best deal just presented. After comparisons, I realized that Anthony pricing quote seemed out of line costwise compared to others quoted for the more efficient units. I decided to call Dan to get clarifications and make sure I was comparing apples to apples. Dan the sales man, who originally came off as sincere and engaging became defensive and rude. His comeback was a comment about possible different inventories and overhead costs. So, that comment told me that he probably really was overpriced. When I asked him for a quote on the high efficiency model to compare like for like, he refused and commented along the line of why would he need to give me a quote for another higher level unit when I already had a price for top of the line that already beat his. We ended the conversation since he had no interest in trying to discuss or possibly explain differences/value . Communication skills from Dan the sales guy went down hill when he was on the phone and questioned about the possible discrepancy and rationale for the model presented. Bottom line - DO YOUR REASEARCH and ask for equal/like for like comparisons. Dan from Anthony is a classic example of a sales tactic used in his attempt to take situational advantage of a customer without heat in sub zero weather and limited time to research/compare. Luckily I was educated enough to make an informed decision and go with a competitor.
Description of Work: Quote Only- Quotes from Anthony were WAY higher than from other reputable businesses. I was without heat but thankfully conducted online research and had 5 onsite evaluations and quotes proposed.

Response from Anthony Plumbing, Heating & Cooling
Anthony Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Response We thanked the member for bringing to our attention the performance of our Comfort Advisor. The member chose us to have a high efficiency tankless water heater installed for her on December 13th, after she wrote this review. Anthony Plumbing Heating and Cooling is very competitive with all our service offerings and thousands of customers see the value. There are five costs of ownership with a new heating and cooling comfort system; initial cost, operating cost, maintenance cost, repair cost and replacement cost. Clearly, our comfort advisor did not follow our standard procedures or the member would have seen that there is a huge difference in quality and value. For example, we have one full page of guarantees that others do not provide. These guarantees come in handy for homeowners when issues arise months and years after the initial installation. There are many components that go into a comfort system and it is critical that all are of the highest quality and installed correctly. Besides the heating and cooling equipment, there are electrical circuits (24, 120 and 240 volt), gas piping, vent piping, drain piping, air distribution (ductwork, registers and grilles) and controls. If any one item is not correct, it affects the other items, as they all operate as a system. Our technicians are the highest in skill, knowledge, and professionalism, as well as background-checked, drug-tested, and criminal-free. They are worthy of our registered slogan, “Technicians You Can Trust with Your House Keys.”® When customers call us in an emergency, they are relieved to hear that we have staff ready to help them and we quickly respond. We do not take advantage of a customer’s situational needs; however, we do provide 24/7 service to assure they will never go a night without comfort (guaranteed). We are disappointed we did not earn the work for the member's new comfort system; however, we are honored that she chose us to install her new water heater and we look forward to serving her for many years to come.

Our furnace stopped heating the house and Anthony Plumbing sent Steve out the very same day, within a few hours of our call. We have not used Anthony before, and were offered the Angie's List special rate of half off the service call. We were so impressed with Steve that we signed up for the annual maintenance contract. Steve was extremely professional, and patiently explained the issue with our heat pump to me, and then again, to my husband, over the phone. We are so happy to find a company, and technician that we can trust.
Description of Work: Our furnace stopped putting out warm air early Tuesday morning. When Steve arrived, he checked our heat pump inside and out. He determined that our fresh air intake was clogged, and not providing enough oxygen for the necessary combustion for the gas furnace to operate. Steve solved the problem quickly, and we were very happy with the result.

I thought my furnace was on the fritz, as it's an old furnace and I was hearing some loud noises from the basement, almost like a car revving its engine. I found Anthony on Google (I'm new to Angie's List) and took a chance after seeing a great website and a mobile coupon for half off the service fee. I called at 6:10 am. They opened at 7 and called me back by 7:15am. They gave me an appointment window for 10-Noon. Then they called me back around 8 and offered me an 8:30 spot if I was available. I took it. My technician Steve was prompt and very courteous. He discovered the problem was actually my thermostat. He offered to replace it (he had parts in his truck). The thermostats he tried to sell me were over priced ($200 for a programmable) but he said I could run to Lowe's and pick one up and he'd install it. Luckily, I didn't even need to do that because he was actually able to fix the issue with my existing thermostat. I had also had him stay and give my furnace a tune-up for the winter. He was very thorough and stopped to show me things that may become issues in the future. He knew I was a home repair novice and he actually made my heating system make sense. I will definitely be using this company in the future. It was a very positive experience.
