The service turned out very well. I assume their prices are reasonable.
Description of Work: I have been using Anthony Plumbing Heating & Cooling and I've been using them since then. They did a calibration on my water heater tank. I have an extra tank, I think it's called an expansion tank, and it needed to be calibrated every year.

Their technician came out and during my annual service in which I was subscribed to their ASAP service for the last 3 years. My air system was the original system that came with the house which was about 15 years old. After his inspection, he told me the computer assist and the fan assist parts in the heat exchanger were showing "weak" and recommended replacing. I acceded and the parts were installed and he went on his way. Being concerned over the age of my system, I arranged for their comfort specialist to come out and quote me for a new system. He arrived the following Tuesday and we discussed what my needs were. He quoted me close to $10,000 including rebates. There was no way I could afford that. 6 days after my ASAP inspection, I come home to a warm house and lines frozen over. I immediately called Anthonys and they had someone out about 6:30 to find out what was wrong. They told me they could find nothing wrong but suspected that I had low coolant in which they suspected I had a leak. Since I already had a technician coming out the next day, I told them not to do anything. The next day a technician came out to do an efficiency testing for a possible rebate. He put 2 lbs of coolant costing me $63.00 in which the first pound was free. This temporarily fixed my system until I could get my HVAC replaced. I was furious that all of this was happening right after one of their technicians visits. There was no way I could prove they did anything wrong, but it was oddly coincidental. That next weekend I had the system replaced by another at half the cost. I was sold a higher rated system than they quoted at half the price. I took the 2 parts that were installed and drove down to their office and returned them to their operations manager for a possible refund. 2 days later I was called by Jeff, their service manager and was told that the parts costed about $25 and the other $200 was a service installation charge, on top of my annual ASAP charge which was supposed to cover possible service. On the back of their own work tickets, they guarantee 100% satisfaction within 30 days or your money back on ASAP service. Obviously, they do NOT stand by their guarantee. 2 weeks after I posted this, a nice man from Anthony's named Steve called me to ask me what happened for a firsthand experience. After I explained what happened, he apologized for his company and refunded me the whole amount that I spent for those parts. He said mistakes were made and he wanted this to be a learning experience for his company to do better in the future. This really made me rethink my assumptions of this company. It only takes one bad apple to make a company look bad, but Steve really listened and cared about what happened and what I thought. I think I will give this company another shot, since they admitted mistakes were made and bent over backwards to rectify them.
Description of Work: Recommended and replaced 2 parts on my heat exchanger during an ASAP service costing $225.00. 6 days after my annual inspection, my central air system developed a leak in which I was forced to replace the entire system. Their comfort specialist came out and quoted me a price of almost $10K which included rebates to replace my entire system. Then after I returned the parts they installed, I was only refunded $20, being told that the extra $205 was for a parts service install charge after already paying for the annual ASAP service. This company is great at what they do, but marks up their parts exponentially to make a profit.

He advised how all of pipes were 5-inch instead of 6-inch which was untrue, they are 6-inch pipes. He also said the electrical line to the fuse box had to be replaced, he used technical terms that even my husband and grown son were unfamiliar with. He repeatly said that if all this additional work wasn't done then our 3-year old furnance could be damaged if it wasn't already damaged. Their bid was over $5,000.00 more than the Trane and the Kenmore/Carrier units. I must say I was very disappointed as this company was ranked so well on Angie's List, I felt like we were over bid by a company that wanted to added on to the original replacement cost.

By our own discovery; there is no company in Kansas City that does a more through overview in the home than we do before recommending a new heating and cooling system. We would never give an estimate on a system that would shortchange the needs and safety of the homeowner. In this case, the quoted price was for the new system plus costs to correct previous issues caused by improper installation of the existing system, and costs to bring other items up to manufacturer specifications. We are happy for the opportunity to earn this members business.

Everyone from Anthony's was great. I called on a Thursday to get quotes on AC replacement, they were able to work me in Friday. The guy was on time and professional, and knew what he was talking about. They were very fair on the price, and got me set up for install Tuesday am, with a Cool Homes test Monday (for rebate). Tuesday's workers were on time and professional also. Knocked the job out in the same day, and didnt leave any debris or obvious sign that they had done a bunch of work. Offered to show us how to use the thermostat even. I was very impressed with their company overall, will definitely recommend to others

The Vendor representative arrived on-time andready to make a bid. His visual inspection was cursory. His explanation of the needed work was peppered with unsolicited cautions about other vendors. He prepared a bid, the highest of five we received by more than $2,000 for identical equipment, supplies and work.
Description of Work: We called for a bid for replacement of our 22 yr-old furnace and 20 yr-old airconditioner. The vendor set an appointment and since we were working against a rebate offer expiration date, we asked for site visit to scheduled sooner than the orginal date. The vendor complied without problem.

It could not have gone more smoothly. As it turned out, the same gentleman who provided the estimate also did the installation. This is a very expensive upgrade for our 1970's home, but our research indicated that it was worth the cost, and the service we received from Anthony has borne that out.

This company apparently bought out the company I usually use. I called at 8:30 am and a serviceman arrived after 7:00 pm. But in their defense, I have no doubt they were very busy due to recent torrential rains and all the flooded basements. My one concern is that he stated he had no parts on his truck for my water heater, even though I told them the make and model when I called. Bottom line, he knew what the problem was and had it working in no time. Electronic igniter is still not working, but I have hot water! He could have easily tried to sell me a new water heater, but instead came up with a workable solution. And the coupon from Angie's List was nice, too. I already have a couple of projects in mind I'll likely use them for!

The day started off with a call from the Technician telling me that they would be late. Once the tech arrived, they asked me questions about where various components of the drainage system were located, using technical terms that as someone who is not a plumber, I could not specifically provide. Rather than doing a cursory physical examination of the property, the technician simply started working at the first pipe he saw. He spent two hours attempting to clear the blockage at the end of which he indicated that he could not get the snake past a "T" joint to the actual problem area. He then placed a call to his supervisor (Ed) who provided some pointers on how to get the snake to the blockage. It is worth noting that the completely removed his equipment to his truck while he waited for the call and so then had to move everything back into the basement again after his call. Again two hours were spent unsuccessfully attempting to clear the line. The technician was apologetic and professional but clearly in above his head working on a historic home with older drainage. At the end of this time the technician indicated that there were basically three options, all of which involved at least $3,500 worth of work pulling up basement and/or earth and using a camera JUST to determine the actual issue. A written quote for two of the options was provided. I was not charged for the visit and the technician left. I was told that in order to move forward with any additional quoted work I would need to contact the plumbing supervisor Stephanie. I called that afternoon, but got her voicemail and left a message. During the long period of reflection afforded me by receiving no return call that afternoon I decided to get a second opinion from another company. That company came out Saturday afternoon and was able to snake the drain and clear all blockages. I would not recommend this company to others if you have any type of historic or other type of situation that requires a little more thought and experience.

Based on this member’s situation, our technician felt the permanent solution was best for this home. The work we quoted comes with a 2-year warranty and is no comparison to a short-term solution. We regret our communication was poor during the time we were relocating several offices in our building. We strive to be available 24-7 to come to the rescue of our customers. The average experience level of our plumbing staff is over 15 years. We look for the BEST, only hiring 1 in every 50 applicants. We do not like losing business for any reason and we have taken steps to ensure better communication.

I called and was able to get service within a couple days, which was good for that time of year. The gentleman who came out was right on time, very friendly, and did a good job. The only reason for my dinging them was that I was quoted a price of ~$580, which included the service call fee. I signed his write-up authorizing services in that amount, gave him my credit card info and asked that they send me a receipt in the mail. When I got the receipt, they had charged me an extra $70 above what I'd authorized. The person I spoke with was nice enough and quickly credited the overage back to my credit card, but there was no real apology/explanation or seeming awareness that it's not ok to charge more than the customer explicitly approves. Given that their prices also seemed high, I will probably not use them again.

In preparing a house for sale, we had a "handy man" install a new hot water heater. The gas company had an unrelated issue outside that required them to shut off our gas. When the gas company man came into the house to relight the pilot lights he said the installation had been done incorrectly and was not to code. Rather then call the "handy man" back, we decided we should call a professional plumber. We called Anthony Plumbing Heating and Cooling. They arrived as promised and gave us an estimate of the changes and repairs that needed to be made, to bring the installation up to code. They needed to order the parts and made an appointment for a few days later. They arrived as they said they would and did the work.

Overall, we have been satisfied. The install of our water heater went smoothly. However, we did have several issues with it not performing as promised. Since we had opted for the most expensive option, which came most highly recommend by Anthony's rep, we were frustrated with the problems. Ultimately Anthony addressed all of the issues to our satisfaction. Our only complaint about that process is that it took awhile to reach a resolution. They are good with the maintenance on the HVAC units, but a bit on the pricey side. We did have a problem with a heat pump last year, which was apparently caused by a "fix" their prior technician had put in the year before. After a few conversations, Anthony again resolved the situation to our satisfaction. They are very prompt and courteous on the day of service, but be warned, it takes awhile to get "on the schedule." Call ahead
Description of Work: We have used Anthony for a few years now. We started using them at the time we needed a new tankless (direct vent) water heater installed and have continued suing them for regular maintenance of all of our HVAC systems.

Anthony Plumbing and Heating was amazing in an emergency. Just around New Year's our basement steam boiler erupted, somehow sending water into a radiant floor heating system and up through our old steam radiators, causing water to spill out of the radiators and soaking the floor below and, thus, the ceilings just beneath. It was awful. I called several companies in our area to come out and check out the boiler, as I was concerned about even turning it on again. One company came out. The guy snapped pictures of everything, fiddled with the boiler, but seemed utterly confused by what he was looking at. Others were no better, coming in, calling their supervisors, who would then come by and seemed equally flummoxed. I ended up spending the fee to get on Angie's List to see who it recommended. I saw that Anthony had good reviews and decided, why not? I called. They were spectacular from second one. Their operator,or dispatcher, was on the phone. We made an appointment. They e-mailed a verification of the appointment to me! They called my cell prior to the worker showing up. Thank you! The workers showed up. . on time, slipping booties on their feet as not to mess up our floors. Frankly, the first guy the company sent wasn't a boiler guy. He was a plumber. He fixed what he could and then said he would feel more comfortable calling in a boiler person who also knew about radiant floor systems and steam and radiators. Over the next couple of days, a number or people came, all doing their job with the kind of professionalism that really gave me confidence. I honestly can't remember what price I paid, but I know it wasn't unreasonable. More important, the boiler works better and seems safer than it has in a long time. Everyone was very, very nice. I do not hesitate in recommending this company.

We received a letter in the mail offering a free estimate for HVAC system. We called and set up an appointment to get a free estimate. A consultant came to our house and reviewed our current system. He was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. The technician that installed the new furnace and A/C was very professional and courteous. He did an excellent job! They came very highly recommended and they didn't disappoint. They lived up to the high praises always sung by Toby Tobin on his Saturday morning radio show.

They did good work, but I also had that kind of feeling that they'll take advantage of me if I didn't know exactly what was really wrong. They would kind of be in that middle ground where I would be hesitant to use them, but if I had an emergency I would do it because I have to have somebody come in because they sort of misdiagnosed something on my heat pump once too. It was going to cost me $800, but it ended up costing me $200 when I had my nephew, who's a cooling and heating student, come and see if he could figure it out. They were going to charge me for a whole panel, but he came in and said that he noticed that my orifices needed cleaning, so he cleaned them and it worked fine. They have a good reputation around town, but that kind of bummed me out and I don't know if I could use them again. The first couple of things they did for me I thought were okay. I knew a little bit about the issue that was going on, so when they started going down this other road I got paranoid and did a double check and found out that I didn't need what they were trying to sell me, so I got a little bit nervous about them. When they came in they decided that my circuit board was bad and that was causing it to misfire which was going to cost me $800 for the part. I had something stuck in the back of my mind that we had this misfire issue before because of something with condensation. This was a backup furnace, I called my nephew, and it turned out that my orifices had become corroded and just needed to be wire brushed off so the gas could flow again. I just paid my nephew a couple of hundred bucks and so after that I was like could I really trust them, but I don't know. I didn't feel like the guy was gouging me, but maybe he was just not smart and went for the easiest thing or whatever. I suppose in the end when he put the new part in and it still wasn't working then we would have eventually had found the problem, but in the meantime it was going to be a lot of hassle and a lot of stress for me because I really didn't have that kind of money. Now I'd be a little more careful when I have them out to do anything else. I guess I'd have them out for regular maintenance, but not any service work. I'll call my nephew again, but their actual maintenance is fine and reasonable.
