Our current HVAC company did a fall tune up and told us there were several cracks in our current furnace's firebox which could lead to CO leakage and told us we should probably replace it. Our a/c was a contractor grade a/c that was originally installed by a warranty company. Although it was only 7 years old it was on its last leg as well so we decided to replace both and get any entirely new system. So we got three quotes which included our current company and two other companies (one of which was Anthony's). Mike S. from Anthony's came out and met with my wife while I was at work and performed the tour and gave a quote. After all three quotes were given, i called all three companies and started getting more details on exactly what was being offered, etc and decided on a certain a/c and furnace model so that I could get updated estimates from all three companies on the same equipment (apples to apples). Although each company could do the same equipment, they all had subtle differences including warranties, whole house uv systems, 5" filter upgrades, etc. After comparing the details of all three I asked each representative to give me their best deal and let them all know who their competitors were. Two of the three got back the same day and both said that their first offer was as low as they could go. Anthony's took a couple days to get back with us and because we were without a furnace on some cold November nights, we contacted one more company for a quote as well. We weren't happy with the two companies that said their first offers were the best (that is never true) and we hadn't heard back from Mike S. from Anthony's so we contacted another company and set up a day for them to come out. Mike S. from Anthony's did call back and actually gave us a great deal.. the best of all three by far. So I informed Mike that we did have one more quote but barring an unbelievable first offer from this new company, we would go with Anthony's. We set up the fourth quote on a Tuesday and set up an appt with Mike and Anthony's on Wednesday to do the cool homes audit to see if we qualified for a huge $850 rebate. The test was offered by all companies we talked to for FREE but we still only wanted the company that we were going to give business to to do the test. Didn't feel right asking someone to do the test and then go with someone else for our business. The cool homes test had to be performed when it was at least 56 degrees outside and we were running out of good days to do it. So we set up a Wednesday appt with Anthony's adn were planning, if quote #4 was good, to cancel Wednesday morning and have the fourth company perform the test themselves if their offer was good. The fourth quote ended up being too high so we kept our appt with Anthony's. They came out and were very nice and did the test. We then planned to meet with Anthony's the following Monday to go over final details and officially sign the contract and have work performed the Wednesday after. That weekend, before we were going to sign the contract, the fourth company contacted us back and asked what we needed to get the job done. I told them they were just too much. After discussing the final deal from Anthony's with them, the rep asked to meet with his manager the following morning (Monday) and see what they could do. Monday morning, in act act of honesty, I told Mike S. from Anthony's that the fourth company had reached out and was reforming their offer. I had known at that time Anthony's had previously told me that their offer was their final (and it was a good one). I was just letting them know that if the fourth company's final offer was comparable or better that my wife and I would make a decision and let him know prior to Monday at 5pm when he was going to meet with us to sign the contract. His response was as follows: ------------------ This has been going on for awhile. We offered you a great proposal. As you are well aware. I have decided to withdraw my proposal as there is more to selecting a contractor than just price alone. Thank you for your interest in our company. ------------------ Although Mike S. was ALWAYS courteous on the several emails and phone calls that we exchanged, I was still surprised when he was obviously frustrated with a potential customer for getting other quotes to the point that he withdrew his offer. The reason why I wrote the entire novel above was to explain exactly how it went down from beginning to finish. I do not feel, when I am looking at a $10k purchase, that four estimates is too many. I am very thorough and had several conversations with Mike. I am sure he felt like he put in a great deal of time trying to win my business which is why it surprised me when, less than 12 hours from when we were supposed to meet he would withdraw his offer out of frustration. We ended up going with the fourth company obviously. Ironically although the fourth company gave a competitive and comparable offer, we would have went with Anthony's due to them doing the cool homes test and based on our previous conversations. They lost not only a big sale but customers for probably many years to come. I have had other friends that have used Anthony's for years and always speak good of them. The company as a whole seems to be a good one. I can only speak for the one individual I dealt with and his impatience which caused us to go with another company.

No additional costs. They came out a week to ten days after the purchase. I give them a B because they forgot to reconnect something and they had to come out the next day. Other than that the rest of it was fine.

Although I contacted them late on Thursday night via Internet to schedule an appointment on Sat, they called me back Fri that they could come out that day. They totally accommodated my work schedule. Cesar came, evaluated the issue and explained what needed to be done. He had another option if that didn't work. Gave me a cost estimate. Worked efficiently and the first solution worked. Gave me a possible cause for the problem and how to fix this in the future. Absolutely no pressure. I have used this company consistently as have my parents. They are honest and reliable. I am sold.

I had Anthony visit my rental property to perform a tune-up on my a/c using an Angie's list coupon for a $59 tune-up. The tech arrived on time, and was very professional. After visiting with my tenant and assessing the system, he called me to let me know that the unit was very low on freon. We agreed to charge it so he could continue the tuneup. When completed, he informed me that he had identified a leak, but a separate service call was necessary to repair the leak as he was not equipped - he was just a "tune-up" guy. He quoted me the service charge of $89 but couldn't quote me a cost for the repair. I agreed. He then marked the location of the leak and initiated a service call for someone with the right tools to come by and finish. He prepared and emailed me an invoice for what had been done so far, but told me I could pay the second tech once the job was finished. He noted on the invoice everything he had done and observed for the next tech. The invoice showed a balance of $326 ($89 for service call, and 3 lbs x $79/lb for freon). He settled up with me for just the tune-up by processing the Angie's list coupon and he was on his way. The second tech arrived later that afternoon, read the notes on the first invoice, then began his own assessment of the system. He confirmed there was a hole in the lineset and then called me and explained it would be $268 to solder/braze the leak. He then tried to upsell me another $350 to perform a leak check of the A-coil afterwards. I didn't bite, so he proceeded to complete the job by repairing the leak and filling the unit with freon. He then prepared and emailed me a new invoice that included all work performed that day (except the tuneup), and all freon that had been installed. Everything was as we had agreed so I gave him my credit card information over the phone and authorized him to run it for the full amount at a total cost of $900. A week later I just happend to be reviewing my credit card activity online and I noticed two charges from Anthony - one for the authorized charge of $900; and another, unauthorized charge for $326 that was processed the day after the service was completed. I called first thing that morning to inquire about it, and was told they would have to investigate and get back with me. At the end of the day, I recieved a call from someone named Mellissa. As we discussed, it became apparent that their accouning department had taken it upon themselves to process the first, $326 invoice from the tune-up guy without my consent; and they did so by copying and using the credit card information used on the second, consolidated invoice. They did this without even attempting to contact me to request authorization. Melissa then apologized for the "mis-communication" and agreed to process a credit for $326 back to my card. It has now been 5 days and this has still not been completed. The latest estimate from her is another 7-10 days to process this through their accounting dept. I could have accepted that this was an honest mistake to illegally use of my credit card information; however, I'm appalled by their complete lack of effort to correct this in a timely manner. 7-14 business days in unacceptable to processes a simple credit. Perhaps the Attorney General's office will provide some motivation. My overall experience/opinion: Their technicians were very skilled and very professional, but beware of being oversold on additional services that aren't necessary. It seemed evident to me that they are trained to upsell you on unnecessary add-on services. I happen to be pretty familiar with these systems and was able to challenge him on the necessity of his "recommendations". Keep your guard up. Their prices are high, but are in line with the other big-name companies out there. You'd be much better off to find a small company without the huge overhead structure if you can. I only tried Anthony because of the Angie's list deal. That was a mistake. I'll go back to using A-1 Complete from now on. Their customer service/accounting department has been appalling. If you do decide to use Anthony, be very protective of your payment information! UPDATE - Within a 24 hours of posting this review, I was contacted by a very friendly person named Tina. Tina reviewed my case, accepted fault, and was genuinely apologetic. She then worked to expedite my refund and followed up to ensure I received it, which did come 3 days later. In total, the refund took approximately 8 days to process. As a result, I will improve my rating from an F to a D, due to their mishandling of my credit card information. It is unfortunate that it took a negative review of the problem to get a genuine effort out of them to correct it.
Description of Work: Anthony was originally contacted to perform a $59 A/C tuneup deal I purchased on Angie's list. This led to the addition of some R-22, followed by a leak repair in the low pressure side of the line set running down the wall of the house.

The tech performed the inspection and found several issues that could have led to significant repairs later, including one that could have caused a house fire. He showed me each and every item and explained in detail what the problems were. Even though Anthony's knew they weren't going to handle the repairs (home warranty covers this for us), our tech still took the time to make sure I understood so I could explain to the person who was repairing. 10/10, would use again.

This was the second time this tech had come out to service plumbing at our home (different issues). I was so impressed with his professionalism and the overall exceptional customer service, I dropped our HVAC maintenance contract company and signed on with Anthony. They do great work, but what really sold me was their responsiveness and their excellent customer service, on the phone, dispatch and service techs.

Technician arrived on time and was very courteous. He inspected the thermostat and then inspected the main A/C blower and furnace in the basement. Next he went outside to the A/C compressor and performed several tests and evaluations. He then called KCP&L to determine if our system qualified for a rebate (if we were to purchase a new system). It did. He arranged to e-mail me a summary of his work and left. Since we had pre-paid through Angie's List and the energy audit was paid by KCP&L, there were no additional charges - just the $59 already paid to Angie's List. The technician also answered all of my many questions and offered a small amount of advice. Very worthwhile.

Our air conditioner quit working on a Saturday. They were willing to come out the same day but because it would have been in the late evening we asked they come out Sunday morning. It was fixed and we have had no problems since then.

There was some confusion in the beginning about what size unit my house could handle in terms of tonnage. Once that was straightened out (with a lengthy exercise in measuring all rooms of house, all existing ductwork, existing unit in place, etc.) they were able to come in a replace the entire system. Entire job took 2 days and that included disconnecting and moving the existing hot water tank to make room for the slightly larger footprint of the new system. This company is Top-Notch when it comes to customer service and making sure the customer is happy. They are also very detail oriented and seem to only use the highest quality supplies and parts. All associates I met along the way were very nice and accommodating. I am very pleased with the final product and would absolutely recommend them to anyone. This company wasn't the cheapest bid I received, but they were not the highest either. However, I feel the prices were very fair for the services performed and worth every penny.
Description of Work: Replace aging central HVAC unit. Add additional return ductwork. Add humidifier. Old unit was in a horrible location in the basement and made it very difficult for them to install a new, larger system with humidifier. However, after they were finished, you could never tell there was a space problem in the beginning.

This was the second time that Anthony's had come to rescue our family. The first time was a plumbing issue in which I had the best experience! The technician was on time, courteous, listened to what the issues were and addressed everything that I told him about. Most recently, our A/C unit stopped working on a Thursday afternoon around 4:30pm while the temperature was about 99 degrees outside resulting in our homes interior temp to jump up to 89 degrees. My husband called the company that had installed the unit 9 yrs ago, and had even serviced the unit last summer. My husband was informed that it would be at least Friday late afternoon before they could get to us, my husband informed the representative that we HAD been long standing customers for plumbing, heating, cooling issues but it appeared not to matter to that other company. I recommended that my husband call Anthony's plumbing heating & cooling based on the previous plumbing experience, and to my husbands surprise....A service technician was going to be at our home in about 45 minutes. As promised, 45 minutes later our savior arrived! Our technician put shoe covers on to protect our floors before coming into the house, then came in , introduced himself, asked for the details of our problem and went to work. Within 15 minutes the problem was found and fortunately for us, the part was on the truck. Our technician worked in the sweltering heat to repair our air conditioner and was definitely our HERO. We continually recommend Anthony's to all of our friends and neighbors and I am so grateful to our technicians for coming to our rescue! THANK YOU ANTHONY'S FOR SUCH AMAZING SERVICE AND AMAZING PROFESSIONALS AT YOUR COMPANY!
