 + 2 moreThis particular handyman was fabulous. He worked hard. He was friendly and cleaned up his messes. The work was done very good.
Description of Work: He did service twice for my home. He did service on January 28th as well. It was $850.00 on the 24th which included materials. The first visit he fixed a leak in my bathtub. He had to take off tiles and go through the sheetrock to replace a pipe. He also fixed a drain in a bathroom sink. The second visit he replaced three locks and gave them the same key pattern.

 + 2 moreRecently, gusty winds caused the metal trim below our upper bedroom window to blow off exposing a sill that was in very poor condition due to dry rot. We called Handyman Matters for an estimate, as well as two other handymen firms listed on Angie's List. We received an immediate response to our call, with a promise of a visit for an estimate the following day. The gentleman arrived on time, examined the work area and provided an on-the-spot estimate, which we considered reasonable. We were concerned with the exposed condition of our south wall and when the gentleman explained he was free to do the job immediately we agreed to get it done without delay. The repair materials we procured and the entire job was completed in less than three hours. While working on the ladder, the gentleman noted one or two small items needing attention and repaired them at no additional charge. We would highly recommend Handyman Matters.
Description of Work: Removed all rotted material of the exposed underside of the window frame. Sealed the interior section of the window sill area and installed new vinyl sill nose. Caulked siding, installed cap back over sill nose and sealed all work.

Description of Work: We had purchased a rubber threshold ramp that needed to be installed at the end of a wheelchair ramp at our residence. My husband contacted Handyman Matters via their website. They were very prompt in their reply and gave us an estimate immediately. Scheduling an appointment was very easy. Our handyman was Chris. He was very punctual, very professional, and very polite. This job was a bit out of the ordinary as many people don't deal with wheelchair ramps often, but Chris handled it like a pro and did an excellent job. We are very happy with our first experience with Handyman Matters and will definately use them again.

 + 0 moreHandyman Matters was friendly and easy to deal with. We spoke with the owner and made an estimate appointment with the painter. Details were discussed and the price seemed fair. Specifics were put in writing. A date was arranged. On the date, the painter arrived as planned. He painted the bathroom with the colors we had chosen. This included the trim and ceiling spray. Though we hadn't discussed it in the estimate, he offered and painted the bathroom cabinet without additional charge. When finished, he cleaned up completely and offered to return as needed to perform any touch ups. Upon inspection, and as is typical once paint dries, a few minor touchup needs were apparent. Since he had left the paint, we just took care of this ourselves. This was a good experience and we would be happy to work with Handyman Matters again.
Description of Work: We contracted with Handyman Matters for the painting of a bathroom.

Description of Work: They pulled out the baseboards in our bathroom, did the recaulking around the shower, repainted both our bathrooms, and also painted a wall in our bedroom. They also reinstalled a toilet paper holder.

 + 0 moreI took advantage of an Angies List Big deal for two hour of handyman services for $95. The two jobs required additional time and so I paid an additional $200. Before hand I knew the two jobs, especially the porch tiles, could not be completed in two hours so I cantacted them and a worker promptly surveyed the work and gave me an overall estimate of the cost and time required. When I gave the OK, the worker arrived promptly the following week and took care of hanging the mirror. Next he worked on the porch tiles that had fallen off the facing of the front porch during the winter. The lose tiles needed to be removed, the surface cleaned, the tiles reattached, then grouted and finally the tiles cleaned off. Overall, the job drug on for over two weeks. Sometimes the problem was the weather being too cold or rainy, one time the worker's car broke down. I understood and accepted this. However, other times the weather seemed fine and he didn't show up. I had to call him to find out what was going on. At least once he said we would be coming out to finish and he didn't show up. He presented me with a bill before the job was quite finished and I paid it. He still needed to clean up the tiles where he had spilled grout on them. I had to phone he several times before he came back. Eventually he finished and the finished job was to my satisfaction. I had discussed with the worker another job later in the year and he gave me an estimate. The estimate was fine, however, after the experience with the poor communcation during the job, I hired someone else for that job. I would consider using them again but I wouldn't pay until the job is totally finished.
Description of Work: Had ceramic tile on front porch repaired and had a mirror hung.

 + 2 moreLaurie (the owner) was great, when I called and told her of our problem on my first call to Handyman Matters of Johnson County, and that the damaged window faced North, she said "we need to get that fixed, this mild winter won't last forever," and scheduled Marc to come out the next morning. Marc was professional, knew exactly what needed to be done, and the window (which was big) and the wall and carpet looks great. His experienced showed in everything thing he did. He went above and beyond to make sure the job was done right. His time estimate for completion was exactly as promised.
Description of Work: Marc was positive and upbeat from the start. Because of a "special size" window that needed replacing before any of the other work could be done, it was a short wait; but Laurie and Holly kept us informed as to the start date. Marc removed the old window and showed me where it had been installed incorrectly and things (like insulation and outside caulking among other things that were not previously done) that should have been done when the window was installed years ago. Marc installed the new window (all PVC Vinyl to protect against wood rot, and energy efficient) caulked around the outside and cut new pieces (PVC) to enclose the outside frame; and completed the inside of the window with insulation around the window, caulking and framing. He sanded around the window and down the inside of the wall. Here is where another company might have said that the wall needed to be replaced. Marc inspected the wall and baseboard and said "Structually the wall is sound, the slight water damage has just caused the paint to peel away and the electrical outlet has not been damaged at all" He taped and smoothed some putty around the window and below on the wall where the paint had been discolored. When he originally had quoted the job, he said that he would sand and check everything, but no mold was detected and the wall was in good shape. Marc let everything dry and came back in 2 days, sanded and painted everything. He pulled up the carpet and made sure everything was smooth and his carpet specialist came in right after him and cleaned the carpet and removed some rust stains from a metal filling cabinet, and applied an anti-microbial treatment to the carpet. Marc did a great job and his attention to detail, showed in his work.

Description of Work: Repaired leaky shut off valves in a half bathroom. Removed bathroom sink/cabinet, repaired dry wall behind cabinet. Replaced the cabinet and sink with a pedestal sink. Also removed vinyl flooring and replaced it with tile.

Steve completed the work in one full and one partial day. He is meticulous and appears to be a perfectionist about his work. He arrived promptly and was very helpful in explaining what kind of paint to buy. He cleaned up well after himself. I would definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: We had one bathroom repainted, trim and all, and a second bathroom had some minor paint repairs, recaulking, and a ceiling painted.

 + 0 moreOur bathroom wall had been damaged when a large blind person grabbed a towel bar, pulling it off the wall. I called Handyman Matters of Johnson County before Christmas, and Laurel Thompson promised to send Chris the following Tuesday. The two men arrived at 8:30 as promised and described what kind of work would need to be done for the towel bar to be secure. They installed a backer for the towel bar bracket , repaired the drywall and painted the area with paint that we already had. The entire job took 1.5 hours. No evidence of the damage remains.
Description of Work: Chris and Cody did a superior job of repairing damage to a bathroom wall. They were friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable.

 + 1 moreThey did a great job. They arrived on time and began the work. They had offered to pick up the door for me but I had other items that I needed so I had it in the garage. They moved it and some sheetrock to the basement. Then one person moved the electrical while the other worked on moving and rebuilding the door frame and header. The door was installed and it works. During the job Laurie stopped by to introduce herself look at some additional work that I plan on doing. I had used Handyman Matters last summer on some other work.
Description of Work: Installed a door tin the basement. This required them to widen and move the door frame, install a new header, move the light switch from one side of the door to the other side and then install the door.

We had a couple of changes and miss communications along the way and Laurie was always very thoughtful and made changes always in our favor. Would highly recommend her company and crew.
Description of Work: We had a partially finished Basement and had Handyman Matters finish the rest. They framed , dry walled, painted, added light fixtures, doors and a storage area.
