They were AMAZING. Lori, the head honcho does a great job of overseeing her crew. They were organized and had great vision to be able to bring the job together. I would us them again 100% - I am not sure I have ever had a better experience with another company. This is exactly how a handyman service should work, fast - responsive - knowledgeable - and able to handle any problem!

We have been using Handyman Matters for several years while we were living in the home. We now live in Florida and Handyman Matters provides handyman services on the rental property. They have always provided exceptional service. It has been a pleasure working with them and we will continue to work with them in the future.

Very responsive to my needs and schedule, provided quality at a fair price. Some confusion over pricing, but quickly resolved. We supplied the tile and grout ahead of time, so the work site was ready to go and the work was completed on-time. We felt containment and clean-up could have been better, but this doesn't detract from the beautiful shower we have now and I'm pleased with the results.

Laurie replied to my email within an hour. Unfortunately her company does not service the Independence area.

The ease of having to make only one phone call to Handyman Matters makes the whole experience So much better. I have used this service in the past and will do so again in the future. Maintaining my home does not have to be a nightmare of having to find someone to call, and then having them not show up, and having to go through phone call after phone call, and then waiting to see if they even show up. I could not be more pleased with this service, Great Job.

We initially hired Handyman Matters last year to add lattice around the bottom of our deck. We were so impressed with their work, that we hired them again to add a trellis to the deck. James and Mark arrived early in the morning on the day they promised and got to work. These guys worked fast, yet efficiently, and they took the time to offer suggestions and ask for my input during the whole project to make sure that they were building the trellis the way I wanted. I really appreciate their customer service and the work ethic of the whole crew: James, Mike, Chris and Mark . Their pricing is fair, too. We are so pleased with the way our deck turned out, that we are going to hire them for our bathroom remodeling project. If you have a home improvement project, look no further than Handyman Matters of Johnson County. You won't regret giving them a call!

It went pretty well. The only reason I'm giving this a B is because the actual painting wasn't the best quality, he didn't remove the doorknobs to paint or anything but then again I don't mind because I got the most bang out of my buck. It was really cheap, the painter was really nice and respectful and got what I wanted done!

Water was leaking into top of windows on lower level. Those windows had all been re-caulked and that did not solve the problem. Initial visit was to review problem, diagnose problem and provide estimate. Diagnosis was cracks in caulking in windows on floor above. Owner insisted work only be done when temperature was high enough to ensure quality job. Work completed within one hour. Will have to wait until next major rainstorm to confirm problem has been fixed.

Laurel came out and evaluated the work I needed done which consisted of an opening between a master bedroom and the bathroom. This opening served as "window" between the two rooms. Since we were renovating the bedroom and the bathroom had already been done, we wanted to close this opening. I had started the job, but since I "suck" at drywall repair, the job was unfinished. As I said before, Laurel came out and gave us an estimate that stated the job would probably take place over two days and she put us on the schedule once we ok'd her estimate. The scheduled first day had to be rescheduled, which was not a problem for us, due to a vehicle problem for one of Laurel's workmen. Arrangements were made for another date and the work was accomplished in one day. The workman lowered the total bill on the spot to less than half the original estimate. We paid him and were very satisfied with his work and our overall experience with Handyman Matters of Johnson County.

I bought a big deal. They ended up doing a good job. They were on time. It was two painters for eight hours. They finished what they thought they could get done in eight hours probably with still two to three hours to go but they had already cleaned up by the time they let me know that they were done. I will not use them again because I think there is a better company out there than I have used through Angie's List.

As for the wood rot repair, that went very well. Of all the contractors/handymen I met with, Marc proved to be the most knowledgeable and provided the most detailed plan-of-action. His experience, knowledge and confidence gave me a good feeling that I was hiring someone who would do a good job. I also checked-out Handyman Matters on Angie's List and verified that they were in good standing. Their bid wasn't the highest of all the contractors I spoke with, but it was in the upper range. However, I wanted to get this project finished quickly and I justified the price based on Marc's experience. Marc was able to start the work within 1 week of my acceptance of the bid. Thankfully he was the one actually doing the work, and not some subordinate. He made quick work of the wood rot: 6' of sill plate, a 2'x3' section of sub-floor and he cut-out and replaced the lower-half of 4-5 wall studs and sistered 2x4s to them to ensure they provided support. He also insulated under the bedroom window with rigid foam where we could clearly see a large gap allowing air and possibly water to penetrate. I was very pleased with Marc's work on this part of the project. Next, Marc worked on the exterior to attempt to prevent any further leaks. He heavily caulked around the replacement window where a previous contractor had done a very poor replacement window installation. He also caulked between the stucco and window trim where we could see a very narrow, but very tall gap that was allowing water in. Once again, Marc demonstrated his experience and professionalism by using OSI Quad - a professional-grade caulk designed for exterior surfaces and exposure to the elements. Marc pointed out that previous contractors who had worked on my house (a window installer and a painting company) had used painters caulk - a cheaper and inferior product that quickly cracks and allows leaks to form. Unfortunately, a few days after Marc's visit, we had a heavy driving rain and a significant amount of water had leaked into the very wall we had just repaired. I called Handyman Matters and informed them of the leak and asked that they re-visit to attempt to determine the source of the leak and close it. The only reason they did was that I had withheld payment until I was certain the leak had stopped. They sent a different employee to do some additional caulking. However, this individual didn't seem to have any knowledge of what Marc had done before him and didn't spend any time investigating to determine where the leak was coming from. I got the impression he was just there to appease me and give the appearance that they were doing something so they could get paid. This was my only complaint about my experience with Handyman Matters. While I'm unhappy there is still a leak in my wall, I have to acknowledge that Handyman Matters did a good job on the wood rot and a best-effort on closing-up the leak. They were not contractually obligated to find and stop the leak. They demonstrated professionalism in their work and I'd gladly hire Mark again for his knowledge and experience. Based on my experience, I'd recommend Handyman Matters.

The project went well and finished close to on time (a delivery delay in tile, not their fault ,slowed the process). They were friendly, punctual and responsive to our questions and requests. One of the best parts was their help in selecting floor and shower tiles and shower pan and shower door glass, helping us get best pricing on materials, which significantly reduced the overall project cost and helped keep it within our budget. We would definitely use them again.

I gave them a "B" on price, but that just may be because I usually do my own painting, and am not used to todays prices for hiring a painter.

From the first phone call to set up the appointment until the work described above was completed there was open communication with the provider and the Handyman office. It required two visits and each were scheduled to meet my time tables and I could not have asked for better work.

This is the third time we've hired Handyman Matters for home repair jobs and I cannot say enough good things about them. Mark came to replace several areas of rotted wood around our home. He did a thorough inspection of the outside of the house and found some places that needed replacement that we had overlooked. He also caulked and painted the new wood. Very professional, punctual, and did an outstanding job.

I called Handyman Matters and they sent out Marc to give me an estimate. He was very nice and we went over what needed to be done. Upon acceptance of the estimate we set up a time the next week that he was able to come. Marc then came out himself to do the repairs. He cleaned, re grouted and re caulked where needed in all three bathrooms. He re sealed the entire master bathroom that had natural stone tiles. He even re caulked around my kitchen back splash and did a minor fix on my front door without additional charge. The process took two days, he showed up when he said he would and was very pleasant and informative.

The work was done well overall. What was unfortunate was that the person who did the work did not have the supplies he needed and had to do to more than one store to get such supplies. I resented having to pay for those trips to the store because the supplies purchased were not unusual or extraordinary and should have been in his took kit. A large part of the expense that I paid were for the shopping for supplies.

It went well. Two nice men came and they paid a lot of attention to detail. They were even willing to make a trip to Lowe's to make sure that the right paint for the bathroom was used. I am highly satisfied and plan to use this team for another project in February. I am very picky and the bathroom looks beautiful!
