We had let our backyard go, and it was full of tall weeds. They came in and cleared out all the weeds, and put down new mulch to prevent future weeds. They also added mulch to our front yard areas. The gave a quote and performed the work just as we expected. I asked for a few more areas to be mulched after they left, and they gladly came back and touched up those areas for me. Very professional.

Marcus has a horticulture degree and really understands the science behind landscapes and ground structures. He prefers to use natural stone on all of his projects, however since I had purchased the manufactured concrete pavers he agreed to use them. He is good at explaining how his projects are planned, the rational behind the materials he uses, and what options are available. He and his crew of two were respectful of my property, cleaned up well, and I am happy with their work. They completed laying out the base material for the 7'X21' patio on a Friday afternoon and completed laying the pavers by early Saturday afternoon.
Description of Work: Completed a paver/patio project that I was not able to complete. Marcus the owner provided an estimate that ended up being spot on. He communicated using email before beginning the work to keep me informed of his schedule which helped for my planning purposes. They were very thorough preparing the base for the 12X12" concrete pavers I had already purchased. I am pleased with the surface of the patio especially their use of a concrete type material between the pavers for added stability and durability for years to come. I will hire them to build a retaining wall next year.

Description of Work: Great to work with. Knowledgable, friendly, hardworking. Will definitely call them back next time.
Description of Work: Marcus came out to give us a general bid on a porch renovation and a new retaining wall in our backyard. Even though we chose to postpone the project, he was super helpful in explaining everything and the costs associated. Should we decide to take the project on at a later date, he'll be the first person we call.
Outcome was excellent. Dirt Clods Landscaping owner Marcus far exceeded our expectations in creativity, design, construction quality and flexibility. Not only is he a talented designer who listens to his customer but he understands "curb appeal". He is very personable and a delight to work with. This was not a landscape design done on paper by someone in a remote office and created using big box store prefab materials. Rather this was understanding the customer's vision, agreeing on an overall design, and then tweaking the design as needed during construction to achieve the owner's goal. All materials were natural stone, wood, brick and mortar. The original historic design of the property was retained. Stonework was hand cut to create a unique design which blended into and enhanced the existing terrain. An added bonus was to discover Marcus is also a skilled carpenter able to replicate existing design features of a 100 year old home. This was a 7 week project in which Marcus himself was on site every day, directing all workers and subcontractors, and doing much of the work himself. Everything was custom tailored and we participated with him in the design/build process daily. The home is located near downtown in a historic district which presented challenges in getting equipment and materials onto the property. Marcus and crew arrived on site every day at 7:30, took only a short lunch break and often did not leave until well after 5pm. The work site was always, without fail, left neat and clean at the end of the work day. No major project like this is without unexpected issues. Marcus always explained the problem and presented alternatives. He guided us when we needed help and in hindsight his advice was spot on. Together we made informed business decisions about how to proceed. The project was completed as per original contract estimates. The property looks great and our basement is dry. You can trust him to understand your expectations and perform quality work at a fair price. We enjoyed this project from start to finish and were more than pleased with the final result. We encourage you to consider contacting Marcus at Dirt Clods Landscaping about any landscape project you may have in mind.
