Did a good job didnt have as much shine I as I expected but that may have been due to the type of products I chose.

The provider did a fantastic job on a floor that I was not sure could be recovered. I have a tiger oak floor that had gaps which had been filled by the previous owner of my home with wood fill that was not done properly so it was coming out and was too light for the floor color. I also have a 90lb indoor dog so the floor was pretty scratched up. The provider sanded the floors, used appropriate colored fill where necessary and finished the job with three coats of lacquer. The floor is absolutely beautiful and I couldn't be happier with the job that was done.

Checked e-mails: 8/18/13, received an estimate with October projected as probable time for doing the work. 10/8/13 sent e-mail to Artisan asking when would work be started 10/29 no response; sent another inquiry 11/6/13 received response with apology for delay, February 2014 as projected time of service 11/12 sent response to Artisan agreeing to February work and asked for some communication on when the job would be done. I don't remember if there was any response from Artisan but by Dec-Jan, had decided to look elsewhere.

Duane ( the owner) did an excellent job. He worked alone or with one helper. He was responsive to my desire to put the floors in quickly, and he was very accommodating of my schedule. His workmanship, price, and professionalism were all excellent.

I called Artisan Flooring on the recommendation of a friend. The owner, Duane Dorn, came to my house, measured the rooms and helped me decide what materials to use. He said that in approximately 3 weeks the wood would be delivered to my house and it would "rest" there for 3 days to acclimate to the environment. The installation would begin on the fourth day, and was estimated to be completed by the 9th. day. All this happened just as indicated. The first day was mostly for tear-out of the old flooring, with installation on that day and the next two. Stain was applied on the next day, and one coat of finish coat was applied each of the two days after that. For a slight additional charge, Duane and his employees moved the large pieces of furniture that I couldn't move. The work was done as cleanly as possible (be prepared, though, for a light coating of dust to be everywhere after the sanding. It's just unavoidable, and not at all the fault of the installers, who used a very good vacuum system) and all tools and materials were gathered up and neatly placed at the end of each work day. The floors are very pretty, and I would definitely recommend Duane and his company to anyone.

They were fantastic to work with. The owner of the company is the one who actually did the work! Artisan was extremely neat, very professional, and was able to match the stain of the flooring precisely with other flooring in my home. Everything went very well.

The first contractorwe hired got behind on other projects and had a long-term delay. Artisan was available in a reasonable time. Duane, the owner was always punctual for meetings at our home, and showing up for work. He, and his associate completed the project on time and the bill was essentially the estimate. Duane is professional and reliable. This is a non-smoking crew (at least while on the job) and respectful of the property and environment where they are working. Email and phone calls are returned usually the same day or at least the next day. We noticed some craftsman details that were not discussed so they don't appear to take short cuts. Duane demonstrates pride in his business by the appearence of his vehicles and clean up after work. He comes accross as the kind of guy who is eager to be sure of customer satisfaction, and on this job used a few materials that he had at home - saved me a few $$. We are very happy with the instalation of our beautiful wood floors and would hire Artisan again.

Recently Duane and team refinished all the hard wood floors on the first floor of my house. My experience with Artisan worked out so well; he returned my phone call quickly, scheduled a site inspection quickly, started and finished the job quickly while I was gone on a business trip. The floors look fantastic and I will definitely have Duane back for future work on other projects. One thing though, while I was expecting the cost of the job what I wasn't expecting was the hidden cost--my floors look so great I'm now going to have to get some new furniture to match the quality of the floors :). Certainly I would recommend Duane and crew to other Angie's List patrons.

Member Comments: Duane, the owner of Artisan, quickly returned my phone message and was on time for our arranged home visit to get the information he needed to make an estimate. The estimate was emailed within the three days he said it would take. Duane was courteous, answered questions thouroughly, and as he talked about his experience with installing wood floors I became convinced that he was a very qualified contractor (based on my experience with another expensive installation and one room I installed myself). I selected another contractor only because he had done work for me before, gave me a break on the cost, and I have a casual social relationship with him. I would have chosen Artisan had those influences not been a factor. I will recommend Duane to friends wanting wood floor instalation.

We had just completed major plumbing repairs and patching/painting the ceiling which took place over several weeks. The family was very tired of having contractors in and out of the house. We had a family vacation planned over the 2010 4th of July week and really wanted to get the floors refinished. We contacted a number of Angie's List providers and several non Angie's List providers. We did not trust any of the other contractors and all of the Angie' List providers were already booked. However, Duane Dorn with Artisian Floors offered to provide a bid and see what he could do. He told us he was booked, but could meet our deadline if we allowed him to work nights and over the two weekends. SInce we were going to be gone, this worked just fine. It is now one year later and the floors still look GREAT!

Duane is pleasant and helpful but his work is sloppy and substandard. He installed a pre-finished Santos Mahogany floor that ran over $8/sq ft. When he was finished, we found that many of the pieces were held in place by nails visible through the surface. On a ~300 sq ft floor we found over 100 nail heads poking through the top. Artisan claimed that this was "quality work." I called the manufacturer (BR111) to ask if this was proper installation. I asked another contractor to also look at the floor and both sources agreed that this was substandard workmanship that was improperly installed. The ends of the boards should have been glued down. Unfortunately, we paid for the work before we discovered the problem and Artisan floors has refused to fix the problem. Don't trust this contractor to do good work.

Duane Dorn is an outstanding professional. He gave us the lowest estimate for the job, but we persuaded to choose him to do the work based on reviews on Angie's List. He used high quality oak flooring and completed the job on schedule. His crew members are all professional as well. They were all extremely courteous. None of them smoked to our knowledge, and they did not have loud music blaring over the sound of their hammers and saws. Duane was on site several days of the six day job. The quality of their workmanship is tremendous, and as a woodworker, I am quite particular. We intend to install hardwood floors in several more rooms and will undoubtedly have Artisan Floor Company do the work.

Duane was very punctual and professional. He and his helper took good care of our home, including masking off cabinets and even the whole living room to prevent dust spreading. We had a bit of an adventure as he attempted to satisfy our wish to lighten the floor (the previous owner had done a DIY job and had made it a very dark color) without going natural. After several stains did not produce the desired effect Duane did a thing that firmly established his integrity. He told us he really couldn't get a stain on it that he'd be proud to put his name on, and did research which indicated that staining our maple floor was simply not a good thing to try because of the nature of that particular wood. So he put on a clear finish and the floor looks very good. I would recommend Artisan flooring highly.

Artisan sanded all the floors and left very little dust behind. My kitchen is wide open to the areas that were refinished and there was only a very thin layer of dust on top of my stove and counters. They had left 4 stain samples on the floor for me to choose. I was having a hard time deciding and Duane recommended the Early American for older floors. It was a great choice! They stained the floors and put down the 2 coats of oil-based polyurethane and the final coat was water-based. I think that's the best combination for older floors. There were a couple of items that I felt they could have been more forthright about but as soon as I asked they gave me their opinions and information I requested so that's why professionalism I gave a B instead of an A. Overall I had a great experience and would recommend them to anyone!

It is beautiful and wonderful. The job was done on time. The cost was lower than other estimates I got and they actually did more work than the other estimates. I am really happy with them. I haven?t used contractors for about 25-30 years because I find them unreliable. Duane Dorn, who did all of the work was a perfectionist about everything. He made sure it was how he would want it in his own home. The end result is really pretty. I?m going to take out my carpet in the spring as well and I will definitely use them again to do that.

The job was done very professional. We couldn't have been more pleased. ALWAYS ON TIME (8:00 am means 8:00 am, not 8:15 am), Duane was very sensitive to my concerns and comments, worked very clean with almost no dust. I had three bids and Artisan Floors wasn't the lowest, but very competitive and worth every dollar. You get what you paid for. I decided to go with Artisan based on good references on Angie's List and I have no regrets.

Duane and his assistant were very professional and punctual. They moved furniture and removed old carpet before they sanded and they returned on Sunday to replace all of the furniture. They cleaned up and removed all debris, and they even repaired the broken lock on my front door. I highly recommend them.

The owner of the company, Duane, worked with one helper. They were punctual, meticulous workers who obviously cared a great deal about their work. First they vacuumed the floors, then used a sanding machine to lightly sand the existing finish, then they even cleaned the floors. They did a terrific job and my floors are just beautiful. They were the best hardwood floor finishers I have ever used.

Duane was outstanding both in communication, work, and professionalism from the first contact onward. We greatly appreciated his dedication to meeting our travel schedules (even when inclement weather and some gutters that were not cleaned out as we'd thought made the dry-time for the job challenging). He was helpful in noting care tips for our floor and guidance on moving furniture back in. The floors were stunning - I'm not sure anything had been done to them since the house was built in 1948 but they literally look new. The coupon provided through Angie's List made the investment feel all the better - HIGHLY recommend working with Artisan for flooring needs. Thanks so much for such a great experience (and at something I'd been putting off and dreading a bit!)

Service went great. Dwayne was on time every day and kept to his schedule. He provided us with good information to make our choices in terms of finish colors. His equipment kept the dust down to almost nothing and he was very careful with his work. Floors look great!

After seeing the reviews of this company I decided we would give them a try. We needed 2 bedrooms and a walk in closet finished which was about 380 square feet. All of my correspondence was with Duane Dorn. After he made a visit to our home he gave us an estimate of $1025.00 for sanding, filling, staining, 2 coats of oil based polyurethane and for $150.00 more he would put on 1 coat of water based urethane which we agreed to do. Over all I love my new floors, after getting an idea of what shade you want (light, medium, dark). Duane brought 3 colors to choose from and puts a little on the floors so you can see what it will look like and then sands it off and applies what you choose which helps a lot. It took 3 days to complete the job and they were on time each day. I thought they were polite and completed the job in a timely manner.

Duane Dorn and his assistant did an excellent job. They were very helpful and responsive. They cleaned up everything and contained the dust very well. The new flooring was very carefully matched to our existing floor. We strongly recommend them.

We are renovating a 100 year old house and doing some of the work ourselves. However, for our first floor refinish in a highly visible area, we decided to have the project done professionally. Duane provided a prompt and reasonable estimate. He answered all of my questions prior to beginning work. The work was completed as described, professionally, with respect for my schedule. I would highly recommend Artisan Floor Company and will use them for future projects.

They did a fantastic job. They worked clean and quick. They were only here for a day, which was awesome. I would recommend them to anyone and their pricing was nice too.
