I had three decks which were largely rebuilt with new deck boards, rails and balusters and I needed all deck lumber stained. Also had a rather lengthy exterior stairway which needed staining. I had a number of minor exterior carpentry needs and exterior touch ups to be done. I needed rather painstaking removal work done of corner trim boards on the decks and their recaulking. I hired Neighborhood Painting (they had stained my house exterior in 6/2017). They did the necessary power washing, staining (two coats, applied by brushes), carpentry etc. As experienced in 2017, they did excellent and efficient work on the current jobs. Even though there were spotty showers during and right after the job, hopefully the stain will be durable.

Overall it went well. Rains caused many delays. They worked especially hard sanding off the old coatings off the front. They would efficiently correct project areas, mostly minor, that they or I identified as needing further attention. By the end of this challenging project, my wife and I thought the house looked great.

It went very well, crew was friendly and courteous, quality of work was top notch. Very good attention to detail during the prep phase and during final coating. Price was a little high but, well worth it in the end.

The representative wrote down the wrong time for our appointment, so arrived earlier than I was expecting. Not a big deal unless you are getting ready for work and not even dressed yet when he arrives. He immediately handed me a brochure and proceeded to tell me why their company is so great. At that point, I knew this would be a high estimate. He walked the perimeter, making notes along the way, but didn't ask me any questions about what I wanted (windows removed or left in place, etc.) which I thought was odd. Estimates from other vendors ranged from $1,500-$3K. Neighborhood Painting wanted $7K!!!!!! I can't imagine what they would charge for having to paint an entire, non-brick house. So, either this company charges exorbitant prices, or they really didn't want my business and quoted an extremely high figure. Either way, I won't be calling them in the future, or recommending them to anyone else. I hired a vendor for $2,300 and they did a fantastic job (all HAND BRUSHED btw) and my house looks beautiful with a paint job that should last the expected 10 years. While I can't speak to the quality of work that Neighborhood Painting provides, I don't believe they would/could have done anything more than the company I hired to warrant the tripled asking price.

Ryan came out the day after I called and turned a bid around for me on the same day. He was able to get a team out to the house within a few days of our meeting, they knocked out the job and the work was great. There were crisp lines along the ceiling and wall, they cleaned up after themselves and left the house in great condition. The cost was a bit more than we were really wanting to pay, but due to time constraints we bit the bullet and luckily, he followed through. I would use this company again.

From the bid to the completion of the project, Ryan and his team were very professional and easy to work with. They offer a free color consultation which was great and the colors turned out looking really good. Both guys doing the work were very polite, kept us updated and offered some ideas on how to do certain things. I found a couple small spots that needed to be touched up in an area that was not well lit, and they were back the next day at 8:30am. Overall a great experience and would hire again for interior or exterior work.

They did an extensive amount of wood rot repair. They did a lot of work for that $10,000. Workers were great.

Neighborhood Painting knows their business very well. We were changing the entire color scheme. The color consultant came to our home and selected colors to coordinate with our new stone front. The end result is beautiful. All employees were courteous and professional. They cleaned up the work site each day. They replaced siding on portions of the front of our house. I was impressed with the quality of their work. We had one miscommunication during the job. The owner addressed the problem and resolved the issue immediately. We are very pleased with the work done. I would hire Neighborhood Painting again!

It went really well. That has gone really well so I may be hiring them. I am still thinking about it. They were timely. I got the quote the same day. They followed up the next week and have been sending me information offers through email. I've really enjoyed working with them thus far.

We had 4 different companies out, and Neighborhood Painting was by far the best. They spent time explaining what they're do, and Ryan was patient with all my questions. I liked that they have 2 crews, one for prep work, and one for painting. It gave us time to check out all the prep work and repairs before it was painted. Great company, reasonable price, highly recommended!

Amidst 3 mis-fires on estimates, call backs, delays, and unreturned calls from other painters, we contacted Neighborhood Painting from Angie's List. We arranged for an estimate and it was done on the day scheduled. Their prompt bid was twice that of other painters but in view of the glowing reviews and very detailed statement of work to be done, we gulped and signed a contract. Bottom line, we are very, very happy with the results. They sent a "paint consultant" to advise on colors(prevented us from choosing a fadable color) ... extremely worthwhile. Their prep crew was outstanding .... hard-working, thorough, and courteous. On Day 1 we knew we had made a good investment. They recommended re-glazing on 8 windows at a reasonable price and we agreed. The prep crew worked a solid 3 days. The paint crew was the same and clean up was also thorough. Based on our experience, you can't go wrong with these guys. Money well spent - you get what you pay for.

The job was done wonderfully. All of the guys, from the owner on down, show up on time and work very hard. The quality of their work is first-rate. They aren't the cheapest, but never has "You get what you pay for" been more true. We would not hesitate to recommend them or hire them again.

We are very pleased with the work performed by Neighborhood Painting. Both the prep crew and the painting crew were polite, friendly and professional. They addressed all our concerns and did an an excellent job prepping and painting our house. In addition, Ryan (the owner), communicated extremely well during the entire process. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone wanting to have their house painted.

I got three estimates for my paint job. Neighborhood was comparable but a bit cheaper than the other three. I went with my gut and contracted with Ryan Toelkes, who is the owner of the company. As stated in their add they use two crews, one to prep and one to paint. The prepping crew spent 8-9 solid days prepping my 105 year old house. There were a couple of additional items added to the list that we found or discussed during prep and I believe I was given a very fair price to add those to the list. Once the prep crew was done the paint crew showed up and worked a total of six days. We had some decorative wood work removed as part of the project on our stucco and the prep and paint crew worked very hard to ensure that the stucco repair matched the rest of the house. Every time I thought the paint crew was done they were going back to check and spot paint around the entire house. They absolutely transformed our 105 year old house into a new and beautiful house. Since we changed the color and accent colors it was just such a transformation. I had ordered shutters that arrived after the paint job was finished but they primed and painted them quickly and attached the to the house to complete the job. Just a first rate team across the board!

We were very happy with the work done by Neighborhood Painting, Ryan and his crews. They did three or four days of prep on our old house, allowed us time to inspect that work, and then did three to four days of painting. We changed to a subtle three color paint scheme, and were grateful that they leveraged their relationship with their Pittsburgh Paint color consultant even though we had insisted that they use Benjamin Moore paint. The design help was very valuable in the final result. Prep was as successful as possible given the state of some of our woodwork - needed repairs were made, and of course you cannot expect that 106 year old wood can be made to look like new construction. The paint job went very well and the final result was excellent. Clean up was also excellent on a daily basis. Throughout the process, as problems came up (mostly cracked window glass from the stresses of cleaning and storm window removal), Ryan and his crews dealt with them in a thoroughly professional manner. Basically a no nonsense manner with full acceptance of responsibility for doing the job well. We'd be happy to recommend them. They were not the lowest bid, but we wanted the security of their lead paint remediation certification and of their use of employees covered by Workers Compensation rather than independent contractors on the job.

One word. AMAZING! If you want the best look no further than Neighborhood Painting. You definitely get what you pay for. They may not have been the cheapest but they were the best. The other guys quoted a day of prep work and a day of painting, an in and out job. The owner, Ryan Toelkes, told me that it would take a couple days of prep, they would then inspect that, then proceed to painting. All in all they did 3 days of prep and 3 days of paint. I don't think that tells the story though. They spent 12 hours a day working on the house, thats 36 hours of prep and 36 hours of paint, that almost 2 weeks worth of work. They also were great about cleanup, kind, courteous, everything you could ask for. I would not hesitate to use them again. So, you can go with the other guys for a bit cheaper and get 2 days worth of work, or go with the best and get 2 weeks worth of work? Your call. I made mine and could not be happier about it. Ryan is very proud of his company, and he is justified. He has good and talented crews. Neighborhood has one crew to do prep work and another to paint. Both crews were great to work with; very responsive. Once project started, it took just over a week to complete. Neighborhood has good follow-up. The few issues that occurred were quickly addressed. We are going to consider Neighborhood when we do some interior repairs and painting.

I am posting this as a follow up to a review given in 2011. The wood rot and replacement of the front panels of our home was sub standard and has put us in a major crunch now that it is time to sell our home. In some of the cases wood rot was not replaced, it was painted over and left to rot further for 4 years. Our Realtor approached Ryan about replacing some of the panels he installed and helping us with the rot that was made worse due to the poor installation. Ryan was hostile toward her and looked to blame our builder. He did not want to visit our home and he was unconcerned that the issue came up within the 5 year warranty period. We had to get our house fixed fast to get it ready to sell, and Ryan left us holding the bag with poor work then and hostile lack of customer service when we asked for help. If a warranty and service after the fact are important to you at all, I would recommend choosing another provider.

They responded to our call right away. Our bid was provided by Ryan within a week of my initial inquiry. Ryan was very thorough in his review of the the work to be done. Unfortunately his bid came back as the highest bid, almost double what we had from our two low bidders. I believe part of this was in fact due to some additional work that we talked about but I declined. There was quite a bit more wood rot repair or additional trim work added that I did not want. To be fair, I may not have been as clear on my declining that work as I should have been. Either way, it was not something at the time I was in a position to re-visit, therefore we had to decline his quote.

The experience was excellent overall; I can confirm the positive comments made on Angie's List and on Google. Ryan Toelkes is very straightforward in his consultation and bidding, and he stayed with the original bid even as some minor complications arose. The prep crew was very thorough in getting the wood and stucco in shape for painting, and their work was quick and competent. The painting was done very well, with a well-supervised crew of four or five painters each day. The historical restoration on the house was done with great skill and attention to detail; that was a terrific addition to the project. Ryan and the crews were very patient as we worked on the final color choices, and when there was a delay in getting the stained glass for the decorative feature, he was very cooperative. When there was a little confusion about how the storm windows were re-installed, Ryan's response was quick and affirmative in getting it resolved. I could not be happier with the final product and with the working relationship with Neighborhood Painting. The collaboration and the finished work are very much worth every penny of the price.
