Sonny Norris was the most professional and respectful man that we had the pleasure of meeting through our home remodeling journey. He was personable and his final estimate was by far the most reasonable we received. Unfortunately we were on a time crunch and we weren't able to work with him as we hoped. We hope that in the future we'll have another project that he would be willing to lend a hand on. We won't hesitate to hire Sonny and are looking forward to getting to work with him!

Sonny Norris only works on one basement at a time so you have his full time attention to your project. We told him what we wanted and he went over and above what we requested. He told us about when he would be able to start and I think he actually started earlier than we thought he would. At times it is just him and at other times he has people working with him. While he is not always there right at the start of the day, I think most of the time he was getting supplies prior to getting to the house. He turned a totally useless basement into a wonderful "woman's cave" for my wife and she is thrilled.

Sonny quickly returned my call after our first contact and a meeting was scheduled in just a few days. He arrived promptly for our appointment. Sonny was able to give us an estimate on the spot and we shook hands that day. The job was started on 8/25/14 and the final inspection was completed on 10/8/14; just 6 weeks to complete the entire project, and some of that was waiting on the inspection! Sonny and his crew were always professional and friendly. Sonny listened to all of my thoughts and was happy to do whatever he could to make us happy. He gave us some very good ideas and professional advice on how to handle certain aspects of the project. Special attention had to be given to the walk out door to allow my husband (who is in a wheelchair) access to the basement. Sonny handled that aspect of the job brilliantly! He was also kind enough to do some extra work that was not contractually required of him. The quality of Sonny's work is exceptional. We have a new home and I must say, the basement actually looks just as good, if not better, that our main living space. Everything from the framing to the final painting is quality work. The time and attention that was paid to detail is noticeable and appreciated. When my husband saw the basement his exact words were, "It's a work of art." Would I hire Sonny again? You betcha!

Sonny was great. He had plenty of ideas to share when he gave me came to give me his estimate. I took a look at a few of the other houses he had finished and was pleased by what I saw and what the homeowners had to say. His estimate was less than the others I got so I decided to use muscles for hire. The whole experience was good. Everything went up very quickly and the basement was always swept clean at the end of the day. It was a pleasure to come home each day and see what had changed. We had a few setbacks with other contractors which pushed the basement finish longer than the original four weeks, but nothing Sonny could do. After everything was installed he came back and put up the doors and then do the finishing touch ups. I would hire Sonny again in the future.

Sonny and Mike did a fantastic job with our basement and we're very happy with the result. I initially called Sonny based on the positive reviews on this site, and he absolutely proved them correct. Sonny knows his stuff, takes great pride in his work and his attention to detail, and did a very professional job. The work was done promptly, at a fair price, and Sonny was very responsive to our requests and specifications. After the work was finished I told Sonny I could not have picked a better person for the job, and I mean it 100%.

Sonny & Mike were great to work with. They showed up each day at the time they said they would and went right to work. Both are hard workers. Sonny kept me posted every step of the way. At the end of each day we reviewed what had been done, and he told me exactly what they were going to do the next day. We had a couple of water leaks in the old ceiling, which they identified both problem areas and fixed. Their attention to detail and problem solving were second to none. It's too bad every contractor isn't like Sonny. I would recommend him to anyone interested in remodeling their basement.

We had planned to finish our basement for years. Time and money had not allowed this until now. We originally planned to do the work ourselves and/or hire our own subs. When we began researching the details and planning the work, it became evident that the job was bigger than we could handle. We went to Angie's List for help. We found Muscles for Hire and called Sonny immediately. He came out to bid the job within 2 business days of our call. He was prompt, thorough and gave us a bid verbally during the visit. We then received a detailed, written bid the next day. We also had two other companies bid our job. Sonny was the most cost effective and prompt bid we received of the three. It took over a week to receive the other two bids and both required follow-up. It was evident that Sonny wanted our job and would follow it through to the end. Within 2 or 3 phone calls regarding the project, Sonny was answering our calls with, "Hi, Danielle." This response, along with Sonny's rate, the fact that he only works one job at a time and does most of the work himself made Muscles for Hire the clear choice for our project. Sonny indicated that he would be in and out in 4 weeks. He was not kidding. The job went so quickly and flawlessly, we almost didn't have time to blink. Sonny told us what decisions we needed to have made when and took care of the logistics for us. He was able to think creatively when our bedroom closet idea was not meshingwell with our wall-mounted desk idea. He also suggested multiple design enhancements throughout the project to improve the functionality of our space. As a previous reviewer commented, I couldn't wait to get home everyday to see what new and exciting things I would find in my basement. Sonny was on the job most days until 5 or 5:30 (or later) and would walk through the day's tasks with me, along with his plans for the rest of the week. This provided a great feeling of reassurance that the job really was on time and that I wouldn't get any "surprises" along the way. Sonny is clearly a basement pro and we would recommend him for any basement project! If we had it to do all over again, we would hire Sonny again in a heartbeat. We love our new space and adore Sonny!

Sonny was absolutely incredible to work with and would use him again without question. Sonny is one of the hardest workers I have ever met and his attention to detail is second to none. You will not go wrong in choosing Sonny to complete your basement project. We were looking to finish our basement as a sort of combo rec room/exercise area. When I called on a Thursday for an estimate, Sonny was able to come out over the weekend for a bid, which he worked out in front of me and gave me a price before he left our house. His bid was extremely competitive, but the thing that really made a difference was that Sonny doesn't take on multiple jobs at a time, and he doesn't subcontract out any of the work. This enabled him to project a finish date that was more than twice as fast as his competitors. He told us up front that he doesn't mess with carpet, so we knew we'd have to have someone else do that, but Sonny completed every other aspect of the job himself (or with his one helper he'll occasionally bring along). Sonny worked extremely hard--he actually worked 12 days straight, including weekends, at the beginning of the project, in order to make sure he could meet (and even exceed) the deadline. He went above and beyond our expectations, adding a shelf to match a ledge that already led to our basement when he wasn't satisfied with the look of the drywall finish. He had creative ideas for flooring to use in our exercise area (who knew horse-stall pads would work?) and, even though he probably hated doing it, cut and installed it for us. Because of some HVAC work we had done prior to finishing the basement, we ended up with a little nook that was perfect for a built-in bookcase. We were approaching the project deadline and Sonny wasn't sure he could (or wanted) to take it on, but he recommended another company to us. When their bid came back very, very high, Sonny said he would do the bookcase for a fraction of the cost of the other company. Then, because we were having a carpet installation on Tuesday, Sonny worked on a Sunday night until 11:30 p.m. and all day on Monday in order for the carpet to be installed on time and around--rather than under--the bookcase. We had had some difficulty on a previous project finding doors to match the ones already in our house, but Sonny indicated no problem and all doors and fixtures matched the ones upstairs perfectly. When Sonny encountered a minor plumbing problem resulting from some shoddy work done by a different contractor, he improvised a creative solution that works perfectly. After the carpet was installed, Sonny came back and cut the doors so that there would be no snags. Our family hasn't owned a home for very long, so we were not totally sure about all of the steps in the process, and Sonny was unbelievably accessible from start to finish. He gave me his cell phone number, which he answered regularly to field questions we had that I'm sure clearly revealed our amateur knowledge. He was friendly, patient, and listened to our concerns and questions no matter how silly they might have seemed to him. We have a couple of small children, and Sonny was extremely kind and courteous to them throughout the process. On the last day of the project, our two-year-old gave him a hug and a big thanks for all the work he had done. I settled for a handshake, but my gratitude was no less. I have already recommended Muscles for Hire to a couple of friends looking to have some basement work done, and will continue to do so for years to come.

I wish every contractor was like Sonny! Oh my!!!!! He showed up when he said he would, he listened to what I wanted, then gave a bid for the work to be done. We fit a small "Grammy Cave" in 325 sq ft, which included a toilet and shower area, a kitchenette area, 4 new windows, new electrical and plumbing (including a waste pump system), finishing the staircase and adding a closet. Sonny really had to do some amazing configuring to get everything I needed in my small space. The ceiling height is only about 6-1/2 feet, and he had to re-run most of the HVAC venting. He put in a sound barrier and sheet rock on the ceiling, and installed can lights throughout the space. I also purchased a 1929 cast iron sink with a drain board and 12" high backsplash, which required the faucets to be wall mounted in the backsplash of the sink. It was quite a job, but Sonny did it to perfection! Sonny didn't complain at all about the small changes I made from time to time, and did his very best to make sure that "what Grammy wants, Grammy gets" (sort of became a joke!!). The space was clean and other than flooring, ready to move into when he finished the job. He also came every day, from start to finish, including 2 Saturdays, in order to finish on time. When the job was done, I just wish I had another space for Sonny to finish for me! One more thing....my son-in-law knows a fair amount about remodeling, from the work he has done on his own homes. He said he was very impressed with the quality of everything Sonny did, and that Sonny "built everything right". He was a bit concerned about allowing a contractor to come into his home to do work, but was extremely pleased with every aspect of the job.

We hired Muscles for Hire to finish our basement. The process started with Sonny showing up and submitting a bid for the process. He listened to our wants and needs and he quickly was able to turn around an estimate. We accepted the bid and the process started right away. Sonny and his team worked fast and were very reliable. Our basement finish was approx 1100 square feet and Sonny and his team were able to finish the entire project in about month while satifying all of our demands. Sonny did a great job of matching all of the trim work, doors and spindles with our upstairs so that the basement finish seemed consistent with the rest of the house.

It was great, he was right in time for his estimate, right on time starting, showed up on time every day. He was courteous, respectful of the fact my wife and I both work at home and did a terrific job. He had to come in, tear out the prior construction, move a wall, replace all the popcorn ceilings, rebuild and repaint the entire basement. I highly recommend Sonny and his company.

We have a 3 bedroom ranch with a full basement that had a 1/2 bath and 1 finished room. We had an idea of what we wanted - 2 bedrooms, tv room, open space for pool table, workout room, full bath with shower and storage. I read a couple of reviews for this company and thought I would give them a call. I called Sonny on July 3 and asked him when he could come out for an estimate. He said he could be out the next day (4th of July). I told my wife if this guy shows up on a holiday I was going to be impressed. Let me just say that was just the beginning of being impressed with Sonny. As we walked through the basement with Sonny for the first time I felt that he was able to see our vision but what impressed me the most was the fact that Sonny offered enhancements to what we had envisioned. Sonny basically gave us the estimate that day but followed up in a couple of days with the written proposal. It was very important to us that everything be done to code and inspected. Sonny had no issues with that requirement. Our other requirement was that we wanted someone that was going to be on the job site everyday, not a bunch of subs running through the house. Sonny was there everyday and I would trust him to the keys to the house any day. The entire job took about 5 weeks. From day one until completion there was never any issues. Sonny is by far the most dependable contractor I have ever worked with. When he said he was going to do something, it was done. Literally every day I rushed home just to see what he accomplished, and everyday I was impressed to say the least . It was an amazing transformation. Sonny exceeded our expectations. For example we wanted nice closets in the bedrooms and we got walkins. We had a water and gas lines that most contractors would have just boxed in or lowered the ceiling but Sonny took pride in his work just like it was his living space and suggested that we relocate the lines to gain an extra couple of inches of ceiling height and not blow the budget. Made all the difference in the world. The finishing was superb, knockdown ceiling, paint, trim work, bathroom tiling all done to perfection. In all the project was completed on time, on budget and to code. We love our new space. Basically doubled the size of our house. Great attention to detail. Extremely clean. Trustworthy. I highly recommend Sonny Norris.

We had a general idea of the layout that we wanted for our space, but did not know all of the specifics for the project when we started. Sonny told us the entire remodel would take roughly 4 weeks, not including Memorial Day and a few days to finish a previous job. Sonny started work on our basement the the week before Memorial day. The beginning of the project seemed to move quickly, even though the guys were only "on the job" for a few hours/day at times. At other times, progress seemed to slow quite a bit. For the most part, we didn't have any problems/concerns. Sonny was very good about telling us how he envisioned doing each part of the project and then making any changes that we felt were necessary. There were delays with getting some of the plumbing work completed, scheduling inspections, and then a week-long motorcycle trip that delayed paint touch-ups and other finish work. In total, the remodel took about 6 weeks, but we were satisfied with the work. If there was one complaint, it would be that the quality of painting was not quite what we expected--although Sonny did take some extra time to redo some of the more noticable areas.

Sonny was very straight-forward, and I wish that I would have hired him.

Went great, would hire again. Sonny gave us a bid and 4 mos later we called him. He honored the bid and started work within a month on our complete basement finishing project. He had a few contractors come in for pieces of it but it was people he always hires (plumber, drywall). He managed the permits and project like clock work. He does quality work, fast. He told us he would have the basement complete in a month and we were skeptical. He laid tile in 2 areas, put in speaker wire, and finished the bar area (we had the cabinets delivered and installed but he built the bar) and 3/4 bath. And, he finished in a month and 2 days. He was there everyday, 8-3 or 6pm. He moves very fast so make sure you have ALL of your things picked out and decisions made before he starts or he might get a little impatient with you. He's a great guy. Oh, and he rides a loud Harley:)

Went very welll. Sonny was very responsive and showed up when he said. They were professional and worked to ensure the moving did not damage the house our furniture.
