We had the leaf gutters installed in the front of the house. The installer didn't install them properly, so you could see them from the ground on one side of the house. Also, we had a hail storm 3 days after we had them put on. They did not make it through the hail storm. If you live anywhere with a lot of hail don't waste your time. They won't replace them if they get damaged and they charge you $150 to come out and look at them to see if there is any damage. We asked the sales lady how they are in hail and she kinda skirted around the question. They are to expensive that the insurance company won't replace them at full value. We have $950 sitting on are porch that we can't do anything with and are insurance wouldn't pay us to replace them because they cost more than gutters. It was a big waste of money!

The installation team arrived as scheduled. They evaluated the installation and told me that they would not be able to proceed. They could not work around the lightning rod system that was in place on my roof and extended over some places in the existing gutters down to the ground. They were not able to work around or install the Leafguard system without the lightning inhibitor being moved. This was quite disappointing and no fault of the installation team. I am trying to understand why the sales rep did not account for this during his inspection of the existing environment and mention it as a concern for the installation. The production manager is arranging for a total refund of my deposit.
Description of Work: Contracted to have all gutters on home replaced with the Leafguard product. Sales representative sold us on the product and the benefits it would provide. Advised that before work could begin the existing gutter screen needed to be removed since it was secured to the roof. The removal was completed prior to the scheduled installation.

The original estimate was on target - no unforeseen costs. The installation occurred as scheduled, was completed in half a day and all residual material including our old gutters were removed. All representatives of the company were very friendly and professional. For some reason this summer (FIFTEEN years later!) one end of the system came loose from the roof line in the back. We contacted LeafGuard Great Plains to see what was required to have it re-attached. Even though they were unable to locate us in their system and our particular issue wasn't a covered warranty item they offered to come out and investigate the problem. Mike came out within a week while we were at work and re-attached the system at no cost. If we ever move we will definitely make the investment to have LeafGuard gutters installed again. Thank you Billy and Mike!!
Description of Work: We live in Prairie Village and had LeafGuard brand gutters installed in 2001; 5 different types of very large trees surrounding our home on all sides taking turns dropping pollen strings, blossoms, seeds, small fruits, nuts, leaves, branches and leaves on the roof year in and out was constantly blocking the gutters. Although these gutters are expensive - they are WORTH EVERY CENT! They have never clogged and we haven't had to climb on our roof since they were installed!! The paint has never peeled or faded; we power wash them occasionally (white gutters) but that's the extent of the maintenance.

I ended up paying $4000.00 for what was supposed to be Leaf Guards and they couldn't get it right at all. They came out and rectified to their benefit but now it's just an open gutter and I got no money back. Would not recommend them because of how it was done. I was told that it couldn't be done the way it was supposed to be done. The rain came and it just threw the water all over the deck. The Salesman never followed up and put it all on the workers. It was a horrible job and I still have to have my pipes cleaned out so they can put the gutter back in the pipes, He told me he didn't do that and I told him for $4000.00 I think you should. I'm very unhappy. The whole back of the house doesn't have leaf guard they are open gutters and that's where all the trees are so it defeats the purpose. They are supposed to be the company who invented leaf guard and did a horrible job. The only people that would follow up were the poor guys that tried to fix it. The water would never flow into the gutter, so now I still have to have the gutters cleaned every year.

Because of cold, windy weather, installation of the new gutter system was delayed through November and December. At first, communication with the company was not great. But approximately December 29, the installers made sure that we received telephone calls notifying us of their schedule and any delays that occurred. On January 16, we had a full contingent of installers. They arrived at our home on time and completed the work as scheduled. Except for a single piece that was missing, the installers completed the work on January 16, cleaned up all debris, explained about the missing piece and told us that an installer would arrive on January 17 to complete the work. Communications with the installer arriving January 17 was very good. He arrived, completed the work, cleaned up the debris and left before noon. The installers were efficient and friendly. They worked diligently all day long to complete the project.

After high pressure presentation, there was no follow up to see if we had made a decision on the proposal.
Description of Work: High pressure two hour presentation at my home. Nice sales person, but could not curtail scripted pitch of his company products and services. We wanted the product... However, getting a proposed quote for the project was frustrating. Way too long to get to the bottom line. Price was twice the cost for comparable product and service. Used high pressure tactics trying to close a contract. Not a good approach with us because salesperson wasn't listening... Just stuck to planned presentation process. Too bad really as we wanted to use them. Oh well...guess this works with some folks.

Response from LeafGuard
As with all products, the price of the LeafGuard gutter system is related to the quality of the product. The LeafGuard gutter system is premium product and a unique gutter system. All gutters carry water away from an individual’s home, but only a LeafGuard gutter system does it with a one-piece, patented, debris-shedding design that is better than any other gutters on the market today. Moreover, a LeafGuard gutter system has a limited, life-time no-clog warranty in which we will clean a customer’s LeafGuard gutter system if for any reason the water in the gutter system is not free-flowing. Additionally, there is a manufacturer’s limited, life-time paint finish warranty. Accordingly, when considering the warranties and that it is a premium product, LeafGuard’s price is going to be higher than many of the other gutters on the market. Unfortunately, the price is more expensive than some customers wish to spend or can afford for a gutter system. But, for the premium product that it is, along with its associated warranties, LeafGuard’s price is reasonable. If the price is more than what a customer wants to pay, he or she can choose not to purchase a LeafGuard gutter system, as this customer did. We completely understand; not everyone wants to or can afford to purchase a premium product whether it be a home, car or a gutter system. We respected the customer’s decision not to purchase our premium product. We respectfully disagree with the customer’s assessment that our sales representative put on “high pressure” presentation. Obviously, price is an important factor regarding any purchase, as it is to this customer. Like any premium product, the price of the product cannot be looked at in a vacuum. If a person is going to buy a luxury vehicle, a customer is going to need to know more than the price of vehicle or why would he or she purchase a luxury vehicle if price is the only important factor? If price is the only important factor to the individual, he or she is going to buy the cheaper vehicle versus the luxury vehicle. Our presentation is oriented to educate a potential customer about the qualities of our product—not to put excess pressure on the customer to buy. When a customer schedules an appointment for sales presentation, he or she is informed at that time that the presentation is lengthy (1 – 1 ½ hours). So, this customer knew before the sales representative arrived that there was going to be a lengthy presentation. The presentation provided in this case was as advised. Our sales representatives are trained to present the presentation without deviations. If a sales representative deviates, it could cause greater problems for the Company. The sales representative in this matter did as he was trained—to thoroughly educate the customer so the customer could make a fully informed decision. But, this customer only seems to be concerned with a single factor—the price. In his complaint, the customer complains that there was no follow up after the “high pressure presentation.” If we tried to pressure a customer to customer to buy, we would have pressured him to buy before we left his home or after we left the home we would have continuously called him to convince him to buy. We do not—and did not with this individual—pressure our customers to buy. We want all of our customers to be ultimately be satisfied with their decision to purchase our premium product. In order to do so, our sales representatives do not put excess pressure on a potential customer to purchase during the sales presentation or afterwards. Otherwise, no customer would ever be happy with his or her purchase. If this customer—or any of our potential customers—does not want or cannot afford to purchase our premium product, we understand. Again, we accept his or her decision. If a customer subsequently decides that he or she wants to purchase our premium product, he or she can contact us because we leave our contact information with the potential customer before we leave the home. Prior to filing this review, this customer never contacted us to let us know that he wanted to purchase our product. Thus, we just figured that he just wanted to go in a different direction. Obviously, based on his grade for price, the customer is just not happy about the price of a LeafGuard gutter system. We understand and accepted his decision. But, our price is reasonable for what a customer receives and there was nothing done by our sales representative that was improper.

We decided to look into gutter systems because we have large trees around the house. It's a mess every spring with all the maple and elm seeds and in the fall with all the leaves. We are older people and I did not want my husband getting up on the ladder to clean the second story gutters. I read a lot of reviews on Angie's list, including those for Leaf Guard. We made an appointment for an estimate and the sales rep, Tony, came over on Saturday, 9-13. He was actually early for the appointment which was fine with us. He took some measurements and photos and drew up diagram of the guttering that would be replaced. He also explained how the product works as opposed to other types of guards, helmets, screens, etc. and showed us samples. We liked the product since we had already used a couple of other types of gutter guards that did not work well and were installed by being shoved up under the roofing. LeafGuard does not affix to the roof in any way so will not need to be removed when we get a new roof - probably in the next 1 -2 years. The install was scheduled for 9-26 and we got a call the day before that the crew would be here between 8:00 and 9:00 AM. They arrived at 8:07 and were done and everything cleaned up and taken away be 9:15 AM. Our house is not huge and, luckily, there was no rot or anything so they didn't have to replace any wood. They also used our existing downspouts which are larger than most and would work with the LeafGuard system. That also helped to keep the price down. We were very impressed with how the crew went to work to remove the old gutters, re-measure and test for any problems with the wood, etc. The guttering is actually made on-site inside a big truck and is cut in one piece for each run. The workers really knew what they were doing and worked efficiently and quickly. Overall, we are very happy at this point but, the leaves haven't fallen yet and it hasn't rain so, hopefully, we will have no surprises.

They are a national chain. It went very well. They came in and said they were going to get it done in a certain amount of time and they got it done. They personally came out and did the calculation for how much guttering we need. I guess we have something at the side of the house that we couldn't access the guttering safely. The head guy called us and offered to pay us to have a little barn taken down. We put it back up and they took that off our bill so that they could finish the job. They did a very good job.

There are some things about the installation of our gutter system that I would like to have changed or added, but since it wasn't written into the original contract, I doubt LeafGuard will correct, such as, there is a section above the garage that creates a type of valley causing water to overshoot the gutter and fall onto the driveway below. If LeafGuard could install a vented cover above the center portion of the garage, that might just correct that issue, but that would probably be at an additional cost, I'm sure. Ohhhh, and a few months after the installation was complete, we got a really bad ice storm move through leaving about an inch of ice on the roof. Well, as the ice began to melt, We DID get the icicles referred to by other reviewers, however, they were only small icicles that actually gave the house more of a Christmas feel to it. We also noticed that other neighbors with various other vented covers...ALSO had the same problem with icicles! Our icicles looked prettier and more uniform, though.
Description of Work: LeafGuard Great Plains began the installation process on a gutter replacement system that was supposed to be superior to any other gutter system on the market, however, there were many issues regarding the installation process that went unresolved for several days. After many emails and phone calls we were able to get LeafGuard Great Plains to come back out to correct the installation issues, which they have done, however, the front gutter dips down quite a bit and looks less than professional, but to be fair our roof line isn't exactly plumb, so the gap between the roofline and the gutter looks greatly exaggerated. Although very expensive, I feel we made the best choice for our gutter system, and overall, it works as advertised.

We are very happy with our new gutters as the old ones were too small and would fill up with leaves and other debris causing the gutters to over flow when it rained. Cleaning gutters on a two story house was not an easy job nor was it safe for us to try and do ourselves. LeafGuard has taken care of all our problems. The frist hard rain did show up a couple of problems however one phone call to the company and they were out within days to make the adjustments and now everything is good.

We had 4-5 other companies to come out but this guy was the best! We paid 4 times as much as we had paid in the past but we got everything we paid for and it was worth it! They have a fantastic presentation and the product is better than anything I have seen! I have never been more pleased with something in my life! The employees were friendly and professional. I like the fact that their gutters were twice as big as others you might see on a house and it has a leaf catcher that helps to avoid the gutters from becoming clogged .

So far the product has seemed to work pretty well. They were conscientious and cleaned up after themselves. They did the installation as they said they would. I stopped by one of their displays at Costco and liked the product. But unfortunately, that was the high point. We had them come out to take measurements and attempt to quote me a price on instillation. What I got was a young salesman who wanted to come inside my home with a show and tell display. I finally got him outside to do his work, and draw up the bit. He then wanted back inside the house to use the restroom and draw up his calculations for a final hard-sell on the product. These are gutters people, not robotic surgery machines! The irony is, I wanted to buy the product, but I was out of time on this particular day and this company insists on using overly complicated time-consuming sales techniques when it should recognize when to drop the act and get down to the basics. The estimator (salesman) finally left because I had a business call to attend to. He had taken all his measurements, finished his "on-site" work, taken a good chunk of my time and yet was still unable to produce a bid. Furthermore, he refused to send his estimate without rescheduling another appointment in our home to finish his sales presentation. Enough was enough. Their job should be making the process as smooth and painless as possible for their consumers. The old-fashion customer's needs come first concept seems completely lost on them. Very disappointing and I would not recommend the hassle-

Leafguard first sent out a guy, who showed and told us how they would do the gutters and we also talked about getting a rain barrel. He also showed us the colors we had to choose from and we chose white. He told us the price and gave us discounts that were going on at the time. He answered all our questions. He then measured our house and set a date for installation. He also helped us with getting fiancing. The guys that came out to install the guttering and all were very profession and did a great job. We have had a few of our neighbors asked us about our guttering and how it looks.
Description of Work: Leafguard came out and first did a lead paint test to make sure we did not have any lead in the paint . We did not. They took down all our old guttering and looked at all the boards to make sure they were fine and did not need repair. They did not. There were two guys and they took all the old guttering and downspouts with them. They measured the house in front and back and cut the guttering to size. They did not splice the guttering together like our old guttering was. The front piece is one solid piece, which they cut and shaped from their truck, they do not attach it under the shingles which was nice. The back piece is also one solid piece. They installed the downsprouts and at one of the downspouts in the back of the house they installed the rain barrel, which we also got from them.
