I took the computes to them about a month ago and dropped them off. They stated they repair DC powerjacks per their website, but the technician was honest and upfront about not being too familiar with working on the DC powerjacks. They still have my computers to this day and have not contacted me in regards to what they have done or if they have fixed them or not.
Description of Work: They replaced the DC powerjacks in two of my computers.

Very poorly. It took much longer to setup the new computer than indicated, he couldn't install the new copy of Office after 4 or 5 tries (I managed to install myself on first try), the home network didn't totally function as well as it should, he said he would return in 2 or 3 days to finalize network setup but neither returned as of October 22 nor made contact with us, we had numerous glitches in operation after he completed his work. The dollar amount of his charge was very reasonable but not when you consider the quality of service provided. This was clearly the poorest quality service obtained from anyone one we have used on Angie's List. I cannot understand how all of the previous ratings for this provider were all As. All is now well since having another computer repair company's visit today
Description of Work: He was tasked to set up our new PC, e.g. save files from old computer, install copy of Office purchased with the computer, make sure home network was reestablished and working.

Response from Kaw Valley Computer
We made every attempt to be timely with the work. The installation of office was a web install and failure at the time was due to Microsofts website and had nothing to do with our efforts. We backed up the customers old computer, transferred files to new system, installed antivirus, maleware prevention, and delivered and set up computer for $70. We obviously charged for no work uncompleted. I attempted to call customer twice during following week and received no answer on phone. After that we were so busy that I did not get back with customer and for that we apologize. Home networking failure was due to improper installation of router by internet service provider and best person to solve that would be them as it is their equipment.

It became clear that short of replacing the computer with a newer one, Kaw Valley would need to take my computer to their office, completely clean all of the data and reload it. In addition they needed to install a much newer and more effective anti-virus. Total cost for this added service was $142 which I considered reasonable. I have no doubt that if I have additional problems, they will fix them for me at no charge.
Description of Work: Removal of the virus that had occasioned my call to them plus an evaluation.

Everything went GREAT! I took the computer tower to Kaw Valley Computer (CONVENIENTLY located right on the corner of Nall and Martway in Mission, KS) on a Saturday afternoon and they were actually there! Rob explained everything he would do, including fee structure. It took him a few days, but he successfully removed many viruses, malware, etc. and restored our computer to brand new condition keeping all of our documents and data safe and sound. Professional at all levels, pricing incredibly reasonable - YES, we will definitely be coming back here again and it should go without saying, we definitely, definitely recommend.
Description of Work: Safe removal of worms, viruses, malware, and whatever else might be wrecking havoc on computers (desktops, laptops, notebooks, etc.).

Work was done professionally and quickly with a mind on my needs and budget. I can always count on Ron to solve my computer problems. He is always patient and informs me of additional programs that he thinks he can add to my computer to help me in the future.
Description of Work: I've used Ron Kirschbaum several times to resolve my computer issues. He is always very knowledgeable, very patient and solves all the problems to my satisfaction. I couldn't be happier with my experience. I found Kaw Valley through an on-line search and sent a simple inquiry wondering if they could help with the power issue on our laptop. The response came quickly but it wasn't simply and quot;yes we do that type of repairand quot;-- rather, it offered ideas on what could be involved in the repair and price ranges for parts if necessary. After email exchanges where Rob patiently answered my questions, and because I was so impressed with his customer service approach, we arranged for a pick up of the broken laptop and another one that just seemed slow. Rob was prompt and professional. Throughout the repair process, he kept me informed of the progress on both, sent me pictures of the broken part, and made sure that I approved of the repair costs before incurring any part expenses on my behalf. He was extremely flexible, working around my schedule, and seems very knowledgeable. His price and customer service is far better than others I've dealt with--he wants his customers to be satisfied and I know that means if I have an issue, he will be there to help resolve it.
Description of Work: Kaw Valley was running a $75 per computer special for all labor, with free pick up and delivery. After talking with the owner, Rob Kirschbaum, I decided to have two laptops checked out ($150 total for the two + $15 part). One laptop was not charging-- tried a new power cord and bought a new battery before calling Rob. Turns out it was a broken power jack in the computer. They ordered a part and installed it stronger than the original--wish I had called them before spending the money on the new battery and power cord. The second laptop was just running slowly and seemed to have some software issues. They ran complete scans, wiped everything clean, and worked with me to reinstall what I wanted to retain. Rob spent lots of time helping me to reconfigure it to work better than before by suggesting different programs that I might like better in place of ones I was using. He was also careful to check my home network setup to make sure I had the proper security.
