+ 7 moreEnd result of the work product is good. However, the entire process was unsatisfactory. Project was overdue by months and not due to weather delays but lack of hardscape crews. Final invoice was over the original budget by 10% percent of initial quote. Items were added without prior approval which came across as an up-sell or something we needed for the project but they forgot to include in the original quote. To their credit they did not charge for some of the small plants. Higher priced items we attempted to negotiate price but some we were stuck paying retail for. Improved communication in advance would have resolved this prior to work being done. I'd recommend the crew member who essentially did all the hardscape on his own with little help. End work product was great in this regard. Project manager left much to be desired when it came to communication. Possibly another PM would result in a different experience.
Description of Work: Project: design to expand existing patio and landscape areas in backyard. Hardscape included: Extension of existing patio with the new addition of a fire pit and seating wall. Landscape included: Extension of existing beds including trees, flowers, mulch, river rock Other: french drains added and modifications to irrigation system

+ 3 moreThe work went very well. The team did a phenomenal job reconstructing the retaining wall, grading the area, and installing the drain and drain lines. Their work successfully removed standing water away from our home. Mother nature has strongly tested their work three times since the job was finished. It worked exactly as designed. Once the new grass grows in over the drain line area, you'll never know that any work was performed. We're so satisfied we have hired them to work on another drainage issue on a different part of our property.
Description of Work: Dismantled and rebuilt an existing retaining wall in order to install a hidden drain and connect to a new drain line and down spout.

+ 4 moreFrom the very beginning Tom and his crew were professional, punctual, creative and available. We have a very challenging lot from a drainage standpoint, however green expectations used their extensive knowledge to handle all of our water problems. Additionally, the landscaping and hardscaping was second to none! Tom helped us choose the right pavers, trees, shrubs and flowers to make everything look amazing! That combined with the lighting in the seating wall and throughout the landscaping has added a significant amount of value to our home. Several of our neighbors have come down to get their information due to the work looking so good. I would recommend Tom and Green Expectations 10 out of 10 times without any hesitation.

+ 3 moreIt went awesome. I loved everything they did. The weather caused them a delay which was out of their control. But they got started and moved ahead. They did an excellent job. They showed up on time and were courteous and professional.
Description of Work: I had a drainage problem on NE corner of house. I wanted to have old plants etc removed and new put in backyard and also front yard. Also plantings along side walkway by deck. I added some other things later after they started. Also they rebuilt top of my front window wells. The concrete was crumbling.

+ -1 moreI am very dissatisfied with Green Expectations Landscaping Company and this has been building up for quite a long time! I had this retaining wall placed after I returned home from living in Arizona and I am tired of hearing from other professionals in similar businesses "my wall is bowing out" on BOTH sides of my stairs! I have known this! Green Expectations came out and added back fill to behind the wall as my lawn had sunk down shortly after the work was completed. I contacted Green Expectations regarding the wall bowing out and needed repairing as well as needing more back fill. My calls were initially returned by Larry stating he would come out and then he did not return any of my calls any longer after I complained once again years ago. Other companies in similar to Green Expectations stated the retaining wall was not anchored in and this was the reason it has leaned out! I hope others see this post and will think twice before choosing Green Expectations for their landscaping work in the KC area!!!!

He told us what he thought would be suitable for what we were looking for. He said he would draw up a picture of some sort to show us what it would like with his ideas. We never heard from him and it has been 30 days. We happened to call another landscape place and they came out. He came with a plan three days later. Green Expectations has said to look for him in a couple of weeks. He has never called and never come back. He never had an estimate. He called twice to confirm the date and so forth and then he showed up right on time. He talked to us for at least an hour and never followed through. They did call me, they made the attempt and did get here. It was $49 for, like, an estimate or a drawing and I never got that. I have not reached out to him to get the drawing because he left a card. + 4 moreThe company scheduled an appointment to review and price the job right away. Although I had some thoughts on what I would like to have done, they offered some excellent suggestions as well. Unfortunately, all the rain at the end of April and into the first of May delayed the work for some time. The work crew was courteous and always cleaned up after themselves. In the process of completing the work, a couple of extras were needed, but the company discussed this with me prior to moving forward. Part of the work on the workorder was not completed, but these were optional items that had been suggested by the company and I really didn't care if they were done or not. The company adjusted my final billing to remove the cost of those items. I also questioned a couple of more items on the final billing. I paid the final billing minus those two items and the company promised to send someone out to inspect the job concerning those two items. Unfortunately, I was out of town when the inspection was supposed to take place. I have not heard from the company one way or another regarding the disputed amount, but I also know there was a personal situation that arose for the company representative I was working with that may delay final disposition of the billing. It is unfortunate that the company does not appear to have "back up" in place to cover for another employee.
Description of Work: I had a significant part of my lawn re-graded to resolve some drainage problems. Part of the yard was then sodded and part of it seeded.

+ 2 moreWhat a fantastic job you all did! Your guys are quick and very efficient. When the rock was dumped in the drive some, of course, spilled onto the grass. The guys used shovels and rakes and there is no evidence of any rock anywhere in the grass when they completed their work. Your suggestions on the landscaping project were spot on. I am very impressed with the consideration and professionalism of everyone involved in our landscaping project. The project certainly made a big difference in the looks of the yard! Thanks again for a job well done!

+ -1 moreThe service did not go very well. They seemed enthused about getting out and working out an estimate. The original estimate came in. I told them I was interested in at least portions of it and I had a terrible time getting any kind of response. I left two or three messages and it seemed like there was an excessive time lapse before I finally get a call. They came back out and proposed doing some more work in the backyard in the deck. He said he would send an updated estimate on that and then, we did not hear anything from them again. It is strange. I do not understand why his follow-up and response finally reaches us after waiting about a month. We decided to cancel the whole thing. I noticed one of the reviews mentioned the same gentleman saying that they gave them an F rating because of his lack of response. We were baffled by that. We were anxious to get a couple of the projects done and did not even get a call back for over two weeks. The pricing was reasonable. He had some great ideas. I would rate him very high for his suggestions and ideas, but implementation is left much to be desired. On the visits, he was very punctual. The response versus the follow-up is just mind-boggling. He was very professional one-on-one.
