I had Cass plan and build my Evergrain deck about a year ago. The whole process was very smooth and I absolutely love the quality and workmanship of the new deck. After I accepted the estimate and paid the down payment, I had to wait about 7 weeks before he could get to my job. However, it's worth the wait. I greatly enjoyed my deck all summer and it still looks amazing. So glad I chose this company.

The project began within the estimated start time. The crew was professional and responsive to questions about the progress of the project. The design of the patio and deck were perfect for what we wanted. The overall project took a bit longer than originally estimated, but there was no hurry for completion from our standpoint. The overall experience was excellent, and would recommend this provider to anyone who wants an outdoor living space. Amazing value for the price!

We contacted several companies to give us bids for a new deck. A couple claimed our house was too far (30 miles away) and the others came out but never returned a bid. Cass on the other hand promptly came out and spent a lot of time ironing out what we were wanting and had several great suggestions. He promptly got us a bid that was very reasonable. My husband and I were both very impressed with his professionalism and timeliness! He sent one of his foremen Rich along with a couple of guys out to do the job. Rich was great to work with and his craftsmanship was amazing. We used Azek synthetic decking and Rich was very familiar with the material and its needs/limitations. His team was very respectful and my daughter loved talking to them everyday. I felt very comfortable with them having complete access to my garage! I consider myself a perfectionist and Rich never told me no if I wanted something changed or added! My one and only "complaint" is there were a few days I thought they would be getting an early start but they didn't arrive until late morning. I would suggest All Weather Decks to all my friends and family. I have already referred them to several neighbors who are very jealous of my deck.
Description of Work: Tore down previous small upper deck and replaced with a larger two tier deck with the bottom level screened in and protected with a rain tight ceiling system. Top deck is about 296 sq ft. Lower screened in area is 256 sq ft. Also put decking around a hot tub, which was an L shaped 350ish sq ft. Cost of service did NOT include the azek or lumber, that was purchased ourselves.

Initial communication with Cass was great. Calls were promptly returned, and scheduling of the bid visit was done quickly. The bid visit itself felt very rushed, and he didn't ask a lot of questions about what we would like, types of materials available, etc. The bid itself was sent to us in a very timely manner, but the price compared to other contractors was quite high. We ultimately chose another contractor that fit our needs better.

I was doing research on my own for a decking product that would provide the best solution for my decking issue and discovered a product that I thought was ideal. This provider did not offer my chosen product as an option so I ended up not using them. I would have if they had been a dealer for the product I wanted.

The initial estimate for both a deck and fence was competitive. A competing contractor bid lower on the deck with comparable materials and experience. So, instead of opting to use the same contractor for both jobs, we split them up and hired All Weather Decks to do just our fence. Cass was able to get started on the work earlier than anticipated. He came out a 2nd time to re-measure and make sure that everything was good on the initial estimate. There was a difference discovered which raised the price by about $700, which we were okay with. Laborers were prompt, removed the existing chain link with ease (we later discovered that they simply cut off the posts, and not even at ground level) and prepped for the installation of the new privacy fence. The fence install the following day was smooth until they reached the gate. There was a small tree in the way that wasn't taken into account when initial measurements were done and the laborers weren't really sure how to get around it. Not really wanting the tree, I advised them that they could remove it, and also helped them do so. Our neighbor to the west wanted the wood for an outdoor fireplace and I asked the laborers to toss the tree parts over his fence instead of putting them at the street. They left more than half of the tree sitting in the yard to our neighbor to the north instead, which he didn't take kindly to. We ended up having to cut up the rest of the tree ourselves and gave it our neighbor to the west. The gate was installed poorly without proper framing and the fence pickets were not even connected to the cross members that were there. I contacted Cass who sent the guys out to repair it. They showed up at some point and connected those pickets to the cross members with no contact or notice that they had come and performed the work. On 9/19/2013, a storm came through which ripped the gate apart to the point where we couldn't open or close it. The hinges were bent, cross members were broken and nails (that's right, not screws) were popping out. While the storm was continuing, I e-mailed Cass and asked him to have someone come and take a look at it so that we could get it repaired. He responded on 9/22/2013 saying that he would have someone come by and take a look. On 9/27/2013, I e-mailed Cass to see if anyone had stopped by to at least gather some information. His response on 9/29/2013 was a mere two words: "Not yet". At no point did we expect them to do warranty work resulting from storm damage, mind you. I was, however, going to request a discount and have some additional work to really make the gate more solid. Cass didn't respond again. On 10/3/2013, I was fed up and e-mailed him to let him know that his lack of response had prompted me to contact the contractor who did the work on our deck to come by and take a look because it didn't appear that he was interested in helping or making any additional money. I have yet to receive any further correspondence, even an "I'm sorry", at this point. Unfortunately, the other contractor has been backed up and hasn't able to get out to fix our gate either. Since my last e-mail, pickets have begun to fall completely off the fence. My neighbor noticed and has re-installed several of them, since his house faces the fence and he can easily notice. Shoddy worksmanship on the fencing. I can see that I will have year or two of constant maintenance until I am forced to have it completely rebuilt. They appear have a great reputation for decks, but fencing is definitely not their strong suit. Save your money and have a company better equipped to handled fencing build yours. UPDATE: I was able to communicate with Cass and we determined that a miscommunication led to part of my frustrations. I admitted my part in that and we moved forward. Cass came out and investigated the work and admitted that it could have been done better. He agreed to replace the gate at no charge. He explained that he would be out of town the following week and I was in no hurry, due to having it temporarily repaired previously. His worker arrived bright and early the Monday after Cass's return to work. The decided not to replace the entire gate, but did a great job of re-using what was there and making it a lot better. Some of the cross-members were replaced while additional ones were added and it is now braced much better. They also replaced the latch with a deadbolt mechanism that allows for a lock to be used. There was a piece of the fence that was missing, which I should have specified that I intended on having done originally. While his crew was here, I was able to get that 5 foot section of fence added so that my dog was unable to jump over a retaining wall that wasn't covered by the fencing. Cass only charged a low $100 fee to have that section added, which was quite reasonable. All in all, we are happy with the fence now. We will continue to see how it endures the weather and update this review as appropriate.
Description of Work: Removed existing chain link fence and installed a 6 foot wood privacy fence.

It was a flawless, completely stress free experience from the very start to the very finish. Our neighbor had recommended this company explicitly and narrowed his pick from 15 others...his reviews of his experience sold us in choosing All Weather decks. Cass came to give us a quote ....we had viewed his awesome pictures on line of decks his company had done. As well he came with a binder of pictures we could look at....his pictures really had sold us ahead of his visit. Unbelievable the number and variety of decks he has done...all types large and small, high and low and patios as well...so impressive!!!!!! Cass's confidence and manner was so exemplary...no pressure at all. He answered all of our questions,,listened to what we were wanting and drew diagrams for us with measurements. He made suggestions as we went along. We had no qualms once so ever about how this project would progress and the finished product. Cass was very very flexible on our starting date as we had an unexpected delay....no questions and was very accomodating. His crew showed up each and every day as he said they would. They worked in 95 degree heat and worked so darn hard each day...every day all day long. I watched them each day and was totally amazed at how skilled they were...so darn skilled!! The head gentleman...knew exactly what he was doing and guided the others incredibly well. In about 4 days our deck was completed and is so so awesome....beautiful and so well built. The stamped concrete....we decided twice to enlarge the size and Cass and his crew again were accommodating...it turned out way beyond our expectation....the fireplace...is the coolest ever...giving us more enjoyment than I imagined. Along this process, Cass answered all our texts and emails (with our many questions..) with immediacy...very prompt and no question was treated as idiotic. This entire project was completey stressfree thanks to Cass and his incredible crew! We are so grateful.

I couldn't be more pleased! From our first meeting, Cass listened to what I wanted and offered suggestions that just made it better. I wanted a simple recangular deck. Cass suggested some solar lighting posts and we love them. One of the top five contractors listed on Angie's List never called us back - even after I called them a second time. Another at the top of the list ended up with ornate corners and curved steps - so not me. Cass listened! His crew worked all day. And they laughed while they worked. I just liked that. No complaining or loafing from these guys. As a dog owner, I can't tell you how pleased I was that each time they left they checked the gate so the dogs couldn't get out. We waited so long to get a deck, I was never sure we'd use it much. But now that we have the perfect deck, we're out there as long as the bugs allow. Many thanks, Cass. The deck is incredible! I highly recommend Cass and Allweather Decks.

The contractor provided a free estimate after visiting with me about the scope of the project. The estimate was provided via email promptly after the initial meeting. Details were shared back and forth via email and an appt. to review contract, sign and pay deposit was set. The contractor stayed for an hour to view the site and go over all details prior to signing the contract. A start date was determined. The contractor and crew showed up on time to begin the project. The subcontractors that worked on the crew were all courteous, prompt and professional. The contractor stopped in every day or communicated via email throughout the project. The crew cleaned up and left the site orderly at the end of each day. Most of the time communication was clear. There were a couple of days when subcontractors came very early or stayed very late and a heads up about that would have been nice to plan accordingly. Additional requests or concerns such as painting instead of staining, adding finials to the fence posts, and repairing damage under the old deck were granted at no additional charge. The accuracy of construction was outstanding. I am very happy with the final product. My neighbor commented it is like having a living room and a dining room in an outdoor space. The screened in porch has a ceiling fan and electrical outlets. The overall design and color blend in nicely with the rest of the neighborhood. Photos really do not do it justice. The ceiling inside the porch is tongue in groove pine and the stamped concrete looks like inlaid stone. It is very classy, comfortable and built to last.
Description of Work: Removed an aging wood deck and replaced with stamped and stained concrete patio. There was an 8' x 14' pergola on the deck which was rebuilt as a screened in porch over the new patio. The contractor repurposed usable wood to cut down on the cost of the project. Much appreciated.

We needed major deck work to be done on rotten old decks that were built when our house was built 21 years ago. We noticed though, that the pressure treated "yellow wood" floor joists were still in great shape. So this was to be a major overhaul but not a total replacement job. I got three bids (all from Angie's List A-listers). I was impressed with each company. But Cass (All Weather Decks) stood out to me. He was very dialed into what we were wanting, seemed to really know his stuff, seemed to really care about the customer, and his price came in the lowest. So it seemed like a win-win situation. Turns out, it was. The one thing that really stands out about this company is that Cass (the owner) really cares that things are done right, and on time. He gave me a start-date that was about three weeks out, not bad considering this was the "high season" for deck work. In truth I only half took him seriously, as we were having a ton of rain and I figured they'd be behind. I fully expected to see them much later. So you can imagine my surprise when the workmen showed ON THAT DAY to start. I was incredibly impressed by that. Our property is not "typical" and required quite a bit of creating problem solving by the workmen. Alex amazed me. There was nothing he couldn't do or figure out. And he worked at the speed of light (slight exaggeration here, but you get the general idea). It was interesting and fun to see the work progress. This company ran like a well-oiled machine. The old decks were torn out first, then re-built. The old lumber was hauled away right away. No mess was left. It was interesting to see the differences between our existing decks and the new ones going in. All Weather Decks uses screws rather than nails for the floor boards, which is a much better and longer lasting way to build a deck. We used to have to go around with a hammer and pound those old nails down as they popped up, over and over again. Screws will stay put. And they create a much stronger structure. So our new decks are an upgrade in quality from our old ones....not something that is said very often about new construction these days. One of nicest things about All Weather Decks is that they do more than just decks. They pretty much do anything you may want or need in your outdoor space. We had a tricky area where our existing steel fence was to join the new deck. This required the addition of a fence panel which matches our existing one and a clever way to attach it to the new deck. It was so nice to not have to have a fence company come out and do that part of the job, especially because I was very unhappy with the original fence company that we used and I didn't want to have to deal with them again. Our new fence panel brought in from All Weather Decks matches almost exactly and attaches to the new deck in a most inventive way. I decided to have a stone veneer added to a new cinder block wall that Alex built. The wait time was about two weeks (because I added this work on at the end of the deck work. Sure enough, there they were, right on schedule. And the stone veneer work is beautiful! In a nutshell, I would recommend Cass and his amazing workmen to anyone. I was incredibly impressed with how this whole job went.
Description of Work: We had a 90% replacement of three wooden decks (keeping only the existing floor joists) and permanent removal of a forth deck. Also a rock veneer wall was built around a garden area.

We have a HUGE deck that is old and in bad need of repair or replacement. I believe I sent a message to this company through their website, and promptly received a return phone call. Cass came out and was very professional, took measurements of the deck. I received an email that weekend. This was the first estimate we received, so I'm not able to compare it to others, but our deck is so big, I knew it was going to be pretty high, especially with composite material. I was pleased with how quickly we received the estimate, and when I responded that we were going to look at repairing the deck instead (due to our limited budget), I promptly received a kind email back. I know it takes time and money for these people to drive all over town giving out estimates, and I think it was very professional that I received a response that quickly from him, even though I told them we were going to look at other options. When and if we do decide to replace our deck, we most likely will call this company back because of that. :)

Everything from the design to the construction was done in a very professional manner. Cass Brinkman and his staff worked hard to provide me with a quality design and installation that I am very proud of. Cass allowed me to participate in the design process and at the same time offered very constructive advice from his years of experience in building decks of similar type and size. I have recommended his company to others will continue to do so. I would not think twice about using his company again. In addition to quality design and construction the project was done on time and on budget. His staff was very courteous and professional and made the experience a truly enjoyable one.

All Weather Decks was a joy for us to work with for this entire process! We obtained 3 bids from other service providers and while Cass was not the cheapest, his customer service, bid, ideas and and execution were indeed the best! Cass contacted us promptly to book an appointment, arrived on time to perform the estimate, listened closely to our needs and budget restrictions and then offered sound ideas and excellent suggestions. He did not let the late spring snows deter him and stayed exactly on schedule with what was planned. He communicated with us throughout the whole process - from materials delivery and arrival confirmation to how things were going during and had excellent follow up after the job was done. His crews were fast but extremely skilled and courteous as well. The tear out of the old deck went so fast and they did such a thorough job that we were amazed at their progress! The new deck went in and any issues or questions (which were minor) that we raised were swiftly addressed to our satisfaction. The job when smoothly and his suggestions when executed met and exceeded all our expectations. Cass and his crew really know what they are doing!! We got a beautiful new treated pine deck with powder coated aluminum ballusters and stylized posts and top rails with a small set of stairs - and a new block retaining area to address our sloping yard issues. The support structure is amazing and the work they did to return the area under the deck back to how it had been was executed perfectly and much to my satisfaction. This weekend we finally got a chance to sit out on it and enjoy a meal - our guests raved at how great it looked!!! It took me much longer to get this posted than I had hoped but I would like all to know, have no hesitation if considering All Weather Decks and Cass Brinkman for your work. He is a true professional!!! We are so glad to have had the opportunity to work with him - THANKS CASS & CREW!!!!!!

Wow. Cass Brinkman is the best contractor I have used on Angie's List, and I have used 17 since beginning renovations on our older home. First, Cass personally answers his cell phone at all times. I originally got 5 bids for this large job. I was the most confident in Cass because he answered all my questions and followed up with me on EVERY detail. His lead man, Alex, is also a pleasure to work with. Every time they had a question, they stopped work, checked with me on what I wanted, before proceeding. We designed some of the details as we went and it was fun working with them. I am very detailed about the contract and Cass also responded positively to that. I have the most BEAUTIFUL screened in porch, thanks to Cass and his team! Also IMPORTANT: More than six months later, I have had to call Cass to come fix two minor issues: Both times he called me back within 24 hours and had Alex come over the next day. DONT BUIILD A DECK WITHOUT TALKING TO CASS!!
Description of Work: Complete screened in porch built on rear of our home, including tear out of existing rotted wood, old cement. New construction included gutters, roofing, pergola on extended deck, two stairs, cement landings, interior knee wall, ceiling fans and lighting.

We never received a bid. UPDATE: See above.
Description of Work: Cass promptly responded to our e-mail requesting a visit to discuss our deck project. However, we never received a bid from him. UPDATE: This is a correction to my previous review, where I indicated that they did not provide a bid. That was my mistake, as I did receive a bid timely via e-mail (about 5 days after Cass's visit.) I couldn't print the WORD document from my home computer and then forgot to print it later. I ended up going with another contractor, and when I was looking through my file to enter my Angie's List comments, I forgot I had received this bid. Cass was very professional and his bid was thorough and a fair price. While we ended up using another contractor, I would consider using All Weather Decks in the future.

We received three estimates from various companies. We liked how Cass was able to show us examples of his work on his website to communicate our various options. He was very prompt in getting an estimate to us. We also appreciated his willingness to work with our budget and time constraints. His workers were professional and did a great job. Cass Brinkman and the crew that built our deck did a wonderful job. We have gotten numerous compliments from people walking past our yard (we?re on a corner) and from our friends who?ve stopped by our house. When we first spoke to Cass, Rick and I told him we wanted a good quality deck at a fair price. We let him know that we were picky about workmanship and pointed out some things that were important to us. Cass is very soft-spoken and easy-going. He was delightful to work with--he answered all my questions and I had a lot of them! And he was very accommodating. He had to make some additional changes in order to implement our architectural design....we appreciate the extra effort it took because we got the deck we wanted and that matched our architectural drawings. The crew that worked on our deck was extremely hard-working and polite and also anxious to please. Several times they consulted with us about the implementation of certain features of the deck to make sure it was what we had envisioned. We chose a cedar deck for 2 reasons: 1) we like the look and feel of real wood despite the fact that there will be maintenance costs going forward and 2) a cedar deck is still initially less expensive to build than a composite deck and considerably less expensive to build than a deck built out of an Azek-like material. We are extremely pleased with our deck and would definitely hire Cass and All Weather Decks again for another project. It was built in November so we can?t wait to begin using our new deck as we get into the warmer weather.
Description of Work: Built a very large 514 square foot cedar deck with bronze colored aluminum spindles and caps. This was not a replacement deck. Estimated cost: $15,000.00, which did not include the cost of the caps for the vertical cedar posts (which we purchased ourselves) nor the cost of the architectural plans which we paid an architect friend to do. Date: November 5-13, 2012

I had about 5 deck companies come out and give me estimates before I choose this one. Most of them didn't follow up and/or didn't have creative ideas. Cass had some of the best ideas and great pictures of previous jobs to back them up. The deck was finished in 4 days. The carpenters were neat, clean and quiet. They worked from about 8:30am to 5:30pm. The yard was always picked up. After the first day I wanted a small design change and it was no problem to arrange. (He didn't charge me extra for the change either). We are very pleased with the quality of the work, attention was given to all the details. The electrician and painter (for the posts) did quality work as well. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and on time! The electrician tracked mud all over the finished deck, as it had rained that day. So they came back out the next day and power washed everything for us. We love our beautiful new deck, it really is a great improvement to our home and yard.
Description of Work: We had our deck replaced & expanded. Cass came out and went over our plans with us and made several suggestions to improve the overall design. He had photos on his ipad from previous jobs that helped with visualizing what we wanted. He gave us a detailed break down of the costs and a start date. He sketched a layout and made a list of materials for our home owners association. He got the building permit and had the utilities come out and mark the area. They started the day we had agreed upon. They built a beautiful picture-frame Azek deck with aluminum railings and under-lighting on the posts. The finished deck is 16' by 20'. The stairs land on a stone slab. They used existing stones and cut them into an attractive 3' by 4' pad.

Shrinking soil against the front foundation of our home due to the summer drought had caused the front stoop to pull away from the house, and the steps (with a landing) leading to the driveway to settle and crack. Two small cracks also appeared in the interior basement foundation wall under the stoop. In addition, a natural stone wall 5.5 ft. high and 34 linear ft. long encompasses the stoop/steps and an 8x10 ft. patio area. This wall was also pulling away at the end where it comes in contact with the front edge of the house, and some of the larger stones were falling out due to settling of the earth beneath it. I called two foundation companies from Angie's List to assess the situation. They both assured me that the foundation was stable and the interior cracks were only cosmetic at this point. They recommended replacement of the heavy concrete stoop/steps with lighter weight material (wood or composite) and lowering the height of the stone wall. These actions would relieve the pressure on the foundation. They gave me bids on tearing out the stoop/steps (one included lowering the rock wall), but neither company builds decks. I decided to explore other options and requested bids from three deck companies on Angie's List. One did not show up. A second bid on tearing out and replacing the concrete stoop/steps, but could not do the work on the rock wall. The third, Cass Brinkman of All Weather decks, bid the entire project, at a price that was reasonable, and less than the total of spreading the project among two or three different companies. He took the time to show us a variety of deck materials, discussed several approaches to the project, and answered all of our questions. We contracted with him to (1) tear out the concrete stoop/steps and build a cedar deck and steps with cedar handrails, 4x4 cedar posts, and round black powder-coated aluminum spindles; (2) to lower the stone wall to a height of 2.5 ft, make repairs and tuck-point with new mortar where needed, and add a new 2'' concrete cap on top of the wall to prevent water seepage from rain and provide a seating area. The work began on 1/8/2013 and was completed on 1/19/2013. The crew did an exceptional job, arriving on time and working diligently each day (weather permitting). They were very pleasant, taking time to explain what they were doing and why, and to be sure everything was progressing the way we wanted it to, and added some small extra touches. Tearing out the concrete stoop/landing/steps was arduous: the concrete was thicker than anticipated, But the men kept at it, with smiles on their faces, until completed. All the concrete and removed rock was hauled away, and upon completion of the project everything was cleaned up to our satisfaction. We are pleased with the "new look" this project has given to the front of our home. We are confident that this will solve the settling problems experienced by the heavy weight of the previous concrete stoop/steps. Several of our neighbors have shared favorable comments with us. We highly recommend Cass Brinkman and All Weather Decks, and would not hesitate to contract with them again in the future
Description of Work: Replaced concrete steps and porch with a wood (cedar) steps and porch; modified and repaired 34 linear feet of natural stone wall.

We called 4-5 companies we found via Angies List. The first four all came out and provided a few ideas, but never got back to us with a quote. As in, literally, never called us back. We made it clear we have 15-20K to spend on this new deck and for some reason nobody wanted to take our money! Cass came out and was very professional, providing ideas that we had never thought of, both in terms of the design, but also in ways we could save money. His estimate was very reasonable and was upfront about the lead-time before he would be able to start work. As promised, his crew started when they said they would. At one point we changed our mind about a small part of the design and his team was very flexible in making things work. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a new deck!
Description of Work: Our existing deck was old and disgusting and very large. We wanted to get a new one with more "usable" space. The odd shape of the existing deck made areas unusable. We removed the old deck ourself, and began the process of finding a company to to design and build a new deck.

They responded quickly to our request. They do not provide service to our area but quickly emailed us back to let us know. Several other companies I contacted did not even respond so I wanted to note that they did.
