I had 2 20 year old heatpumps in various states of disrepair. I scanned Angie's List for the top 5 recommended HVAC vendors and contacted each. Generally each was responsive but Dan and Mike from A&H were the most forthcoming and honest about what made the most sensible investment for my situation. I had actually planned to go for a pair of ultra-efficient units but after talking with these guys and learning about the 40% raise in efficiency from my old equipment to our new equipment and how A&H met our needs for what our budget was on unit replacement - I got out the spreadsheet and found that it would actually save me several thousand dollars over the life of the investment to go with a simpler unit. I hadn't considered this trade-off and the fact that the A&H guys were willing to share some honest feedback created a good basis of trust for partnering with them on my install. The price for 2 heatpumps is obviously pretty high but they were very competitive with the other top 4 vendors to which i reached out. Especially given the fact that several stuck with the ultra-high efficiency sale and never offered another perspective.

Our old air conditioner was original to the home and was nonrepairable so we looked for a good local company to purchase a new one. A&H Air conditioning had the brand unit that matched our furnace so we got a quote and they installed in a just a few days. We were so pleased with their work we now have a service contract for both air conditioner and furnace equipment.

The entire project only took a couple days and that was with a lot of jack hammering through concrete that was quite thick in our older 1940's basement. They had to put in a rather extensive pipe system for the stormwater discharge to the outside side of our house, but that was due to the lack of anywhere else closer with sufficient slope. They also installed two new floor drains near the sump basin as well. Todd and Tom were the two that worked on it and were outstanding. The only minor issue I had was the amount of concerete dust everywhere after they left, but that is to be expected I suppose with what they had to do...and its something that can be cleaned up with some work. I am glad I changed my mind at the last minute from the original plumbers I was going to use to A&H. Todd even came back on his own to fix a minor leaking issue not directly related to the sump pump project without charging us. I've used different plumbers for various projects in the past, will be using them for plumbing in the future from now on.

Ultimately, the problem was incidental lawn debris around my AC unit. The approximate price was $85 for about 2 minutes of non-technical work. They were supposed to call before 'performing' any services other than inspection and diagnostics.

They did a great job. I gave them the model # of what needed replaced and he picked it up on his way here so I didn't have to pay for an extra visit.

Installers did fine work; very professional

I discovered a leak coming from my furnace and soaking through my ceiling. My furnace is in my smaller attic upstairs. I put a bucket under the leak and called A & H. They were prompt and found out my condenser trap was busted so the technician replaced it. I thought we were done but that evening the leak was back and when I went to look it appeared to be coming from where the tubes from my furnace were attached to this new trap. Initially I was upset because one of the tubes was only tightened to the trap with a wire twist tie while the other one was clamped with the appropriate hardware. I called again and another technician came out and put a proper clamp on the one tube and did his best to tighten the other one. As a precaution I stuck the bucket back under the trap this time and when I got home from work there was water in the bucket. Not as much but still leaking. Anyway, I tried to get someone else out to fix it but wasn't successful so I figure I would try once more. This time it was fixed properly. I haven't had any leaking since the last visit. The two technicians were very friendly and knowledgeable. I was a bit disappointed in the first one when I saw the improper clamping but the second guy fixed it and now things seem to be good. The only other issue I had was the lady who I talked to the second time when it was still leaking. I told her I needed it fixed before it ruined my ceiling and that they would have to come around lunch time since I was already at work. She told me the dispatcher wouldn't be happy having to pull one of her guys from one job to do mine. I felt that was a bit rude and since they didn't do it right the first time figured they needed to work around my schedule. The dispatcher was very friendly however and didn't seem upset that I requested my lunch hour for them to come back out. All in all it has worked out and I am happy with the outcome.

I called to this company after reading them on Angie's List on 07/18/2013. Answering to me was a female receptionist. I asked them if they have the Air Conditioner Maintenance Service? Seemed that the job did not interested her much, she asked me if I have any issue with my Air Conditioner? I told her that it still running good, but wanted it to have an annual check -up. She asked me for my phone number, for my address, then told me that somebody will call me back, to set up an appointment. Since that day to now 08/05/2013, still never had anybody contacted me. May be the job was too small for them, but if they called me back to refuse the service, I would not be this DISAPPOINTED.

Excellent experience. The air conditioner stopped working, and Jeff came to check it the day I called. He ordered the part that afternoon and installed it the following day. The people I spoke with on the phone and Jeff were all courteous, professional, and friendly.

A&H employee Todd Gribble was courteous, respectful of property, and installed the water heater with professional work. He explained the installation process and offered options for the kind of water heater I needed. I have previously used A&H to install a new furnace and central air conditioner with satisfactory installation and reliable performance thereafter. Their employees have always been professional, courteous, and respectful of property. I have used their service for over 10 years and will continue to do business with them when needed. Today they were able to install the new water heater the same day I called.

The service was performed without delay in the pouring rain out in the pasture. I had previously dug out the line with my front end loader but these guys pumped out the water, snapped in a new T (rubber) and augured out the line with a pipe snake. The weather was crappy (so was the job) and they worked into the night until the job was done. I recently found some more issues with the plumbing in this older farm house and I didn't hesitate to contract them for the job. I recommend A&H for any plumbing job no matter how big or small on your property. Charles does a great job of keeping in touch and delivering superior customer service with professional grade work. They promptly returned my call and got me scheduled right away. The tech was very prompt, polite and professional. Turns out I needed a new fan, so they ordered and installed one (which itself had problems, so they had to order another one). The "B" for quality is based on the quality of the part they got from Amana, not on the service they provided. The tech also checked my humidifier. I would definitely use this company again, and I am thinking about signing up for their service contract, which is $153/year for two visits to check my HVAC unit and humidifier and change the filters (I can change the filter on the unit myself but I've never been able to access the humidifier very well in order to change the filter.) The filters are included in the contract price.

The technicians are informative and explain each step of their process and tests. I asked a number of questions each time and they are more than willing to answer truthfully, from my experience. I have not had any problems with our system so I do not know how well they do repairs/installations, but they seem top notch to me from a maintenance perspective.

Our furnace went out Saturday evening 2/9/13, we intentionally waited out the weekend as we didn't want any emergency rates and had space heaters to keep us warm. I contacted A&H via Angie's list on Monday 2/11 and within 5 minutes of sending them the request, they called me to setup an appointment. The earliest I was available was that Wednesday 2/13 so we set it up for 8am that day. The technician was about an hour late due to an emergency call he had to tend to earlier that morning, but once he arrived, he quickly diagnosed the problem as a blown circuit board. He also took the time to educate me on the age of my furnace and the efficiency improvements found in newer models as well as ballpark costs for the newer models. He was very polite and not pushy at all, and agreed that at 10 years old, our furnace was likely just over 1/2 way through it's normal life. He estimated the bad board would be about $240 installed so I had him order one. I also paid a small diagnostic/service fee at that time. He called in the order while still in my driveway then came back to the door somewhat shocked as he discovered the part for my specific furnace was actually much higher than normal and would cost $500 installed. I agreed to go ahead so he placed the order. Later that afternoon after speaking with his office staff, he was not satisfied with the huge difference in the cost of the part versus what is typical so he called me up and said that he would deduct the diagnostic/service fee from the cost of the part/install as that was the best he could do to help us out. I of course was more than willing to pay the full price, but was happy for the bit of relief. I knew the part cost was out of his control. The very next afternoon 2/14 he called up with part in hand and came out 20 minutes after I got off the phone and replaced the bad board. It's been running great since.
