We purchased Christmas lights and paid Second Nature/Christmas Decor to install from 2013-2016. After skipping 2017 due to being out of town, we have repeatedly called to pickup our lights and have been ignored for 2 years. This is extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Beware of signing any contracts with this company.

With nearly fifty-year old plantings original to the house plus twenty plus year old plantings we initiated our front yard curb appeal was far over grown. We needed a re-do but were unsure as to how to go about it. We needed helpful ideas that would update the plants in the front of the house yet stay away from the usual evergreen bushes and hostas. After interviewing half a dozen landscape and design companies, we decided on using Second Nature Landscaping because the VP Cory Owens was so open to providing us unique ideas while incorporating our wants and budgetary needs. We were concerned that replacing such large and overgrown plants with small plantings would drastically change the look of the house. Kind of like the change in the look of a brother or uncle who suddenly shaves off his beard. Cory and the Second Nature team took that concern seriously and provided established healthy plantings that look like they have been in place for quite some time. Communication with Second Nature Landscaping was very good. The design team sent us an electronic map and layout of the entire project including plant names and sizes. We had ample time to review the plan and make changes and or suggestions. The design team quickly made a new design that included our changes and suggestions. Second Nature Landscaping was very patient and provided us three different layouts before we were happy with the final plan. While keeping within our budget was very important to us, Second Nature Landscaping never put pressure on us to spend a certain dollar amount or seek our top dollar amount and fit the project to that dollar amount. How much money we were willing to spend seemed important to other landscaping companies we interviewed. The whole project took just three consecutive days, and we cannot be more pleased with the end results. Immediately after completion our neighbors complimented us on the new look. Like us, many people feel curb appeal is very important, and spending hard earned money to update it is very scary. We would highly recommend Second Nature Landscaping Inc for that all-important job.

the process started out very professionally and proceeded through the estimate phase without a hitch. Cory initially was very interested in the work, came and met with me twice in person and provided a very affordable estimate for the work. I accepted his proposal and agreed to hire him to do the work. We met in person to seal the deal with a hand shake and his verbal commitment to the work and that his word was his bond and his reputation, etc., etc. etc. I asked him about signing a contract for the work but he insisted that for "smaller" jobs he did not require a contract and we would pay after the work was completed. I took him at his word. He had an A rating on Home Advisor and Angies List. My mistake for trusting him. I left for spring break vacation the next week while he called in to have all the lines marked in my yard before performing the work in my yard. All the lines were marked while I was away on vacation...electric, gas, cable, etc. H was supposed to then start working on burying my sump pump line and running down to the storm drain. I got back home from vacation and then proceeded to wait for the next 4 weeks for the work to start but it never did. During this time I reached out to Cory 4 different times via email, text messages, and telephone. He never returned any of my overtures to reach him. He abandoned the job after having all the lines marked in my yard and did not have the decency or professionalism to contact me to tell me he was backing out of the job. If he would have just been honest and reached out to me to say he could not or would not do the work then I would have been disappointed but would have said OK then moved on to another contractor. I think he saw a lot of flags in the yard and got spooked about digging around the underground lines...just my opinion as I will never know for sure because he was utterly unprofessional and just slithered away and left me hanging.

It all went well and on time. We had a lot of work done, including removal of all the old landscaping and the majority of items were done in about 2 weeks.
Description of Work: Extensive new landscaping done on 3 sides of the house to replace existing landscaping that was overgrown. The work included pavers on a patio, hardscape rocks, cedar pergolas, as well as numerous plants and trees. Also done was landscape lighting.

Cory and his crew do a fantastic job! We have had Second Nature do a patio project at our previous residence, and then we asked them to also do landscape lighting and planting of trees and shrubs at a new home this year. Cory is always punctual when setting up and appointment, gives a solid, honest opinion of the work being done and any obstacles or challenges he foresees, and the pricing is very reasonable. Each time we have had the crew on our property the workers were respectful and cleaned up well after they were finished. I have recommended Second Nature to friends in the area since we used them initially to install a patio at our previous home and will continue to do so!

They came out to discuss the work we wanted done. Was told we would have an estimate in about a week. I didn't hear after about 1-1/2 weeks so I emailed to inquire about the progress. After a few days of no response I called and left a message to which I still no response back. I'm disappointed that we wasted 2 weeks waiting on this company to get back to us and find their lack of communication unprofessional.

They quoted me $2200. I had another quote from somebody and it was way more, so I give them an A for price. Quality is one of the main reasons we went with them. I actually called him last year and wanted to do this and he was booked up. So he asked me to contact him at the first part of this year which I did in February and got on his list. I am sure he is busy. He does great job. When he did my patio pavers and extended my patio the first time. I had a neighbor who had a similarly job done by someone else. The quality that he had done was a lot worst than what I had done. I would give him an A because the quality has held up now for almost 3 years exceptionally well, with almost no issues. When I email or call him he gets right back. I would use them again.
Description of Work: They are doing work now to extend the patio and do more landscaping. Extending the mulch bed, planting 4 trees 5 ft tall, putting us some small flowering plants in the mulch area. Expanding the patio, and mulch bed 150 square feet, and put the trees in there.

Working with Cory and his crew was a pleasure. He was very responsive throughout the engagement and easy to do business with. He went out of his way in the evenings several times to meet with me or check the work of his team. The wife and I were extremely happy with the exterior lighting and landscape work provided. He really was a perfectionist with his work, I received this in email from him following his visit after installation of the lighting: I am going to switch the center bulb on the high peak to a 5 watt tomorrow (currently a 4). That was the only area I thought was a little "weak". I also welcome your feedback too. I think that sums up how much he cared about the outcome, something so little that I didn't notice. I would definitely recommend Second Nature!
Description of Work: We needed a new master landscape plan for the house and execution of it which included: - amending (new house with bad soil) and creation of landscape beds in front - plants/shrubs with a mixture of color through the seasons - mulching the beds - large spruce trees in the backyard - exterior house and landscape lighting

Second Nature Landscapes did a fantastic job. Our house is surrounded by flowerbeds/trees and I was nervous on how many plants/trees we were going to lose for this necessary work. We did have to lose a few trees which Cory explained upfront but I am so happy with the minimal footprint his team did to our flowerbeds while burying the drainlines. His team was professional, timely and did a great job cleaning up. We plan on using Second Nature Landscapes for future projects.

The experience was WONDERFUL! Cory Owens (owner) and his employees were great to work with. Cory was prompt at responding to emails/calls. Was very patient with our HOA making changes and waiting for Board approval. His employees were very polite when asked questions when they were working on the project. As Cory says and it is true, "he treats his projects and the materials he uses (especially plantings) as if it were his own home." I would use his services again in a minute, including for my own home!! EXTREMELY PLEASED with how the project came out (just like the design).
Description of Work: Update the look of our neighborhood subdivision front entrance with new landscape design, removal of trees, plants and bushes not being reused and adding new plantings as well as installation of accent boulders to help with erosion. Reshaped and amended beds per design. Mulching of new landscape beds and reseed areas of beds that were reduced. Also adding 7 trees along the north (4 trees) and south (3 trees) side of entrance.

My wife and I had several offers to install our paver patio but decided to have Second Nature Lnadscape do the installation after meeting with the owner Cory. He seemed very genuine and offered his honest opinion as to the ideas we had then offered up his own ideas. Cory was very responsive to emails and texts, typically within the same day given his workload. He assisted us with marking up our platt plan to submit to our HOA for approval. Once we secured his services we set a hard date for his team to commence the project. Because of his due diligence with watching the extended weather forecast, Cory's team completed our patio almost a week early. Ahead of all the rain that came in. I would definitely recommend Cory and his team to any friends and family. And will utilize his services for any future work.

Cory was very easy to work with. He is flexible and had great suggestions. He has a great group of guys who did an excellent job for us. His company also installs drainage systems which we have discussed about a problem we are having. I will be getting a quote from him soon. I recommend them!
Description of Work: My yard has suffered all summer because of other home improvements that needed to be done. All the beds needed to be cleaned, trimmed, edged. I also wanted plants and bushes to be removed or moved. New mulch was laid in front and back. We are waiting for riprap to be brought down to the water at a later date.

Cory Owens was an absolute pleasure to work with. His communication and responsiveness were fantastic. No request was a problem for him or his crew, and we felt like his #1 priority was to ensure that things were done the way we wanted them done. Cory's suggestions were thoughtful and helpful. He was honest if he felt that something we asked for was not going to be the best bet in the long run, or just wouldn't look good based on his experience. The job and the quality of work was great. The pavers look very good and we were pleased with the hardscape. I purchased the grill from a third party and Cory worked with them to schedule the assembly and install. The landscaping was tied in well with existing landscaping and the selection of trees, shrubs, and plants were well done. The job turned out better than I had even thought it would and we are looking forward to spending a lot of time on our new patio. I would highly recommend Cory and Second Nature for hardscape or landscaping services.

For this project, we had 4 estimates which were wildly variable (2-fold) in price. Two estimates were fairily close, but the SN bid was most competitive. However, price was not the major factor in the choice of contractor. The most important factor was our comfort level with Cory Owens of SN. Cory was very responsive and understanding during our initial discussions. Unlike the other contractors, he got it...exactly what we wanted, while others seemed to have their own personal constraints for the project. During the project, we had a lot of rain and SN also had an injury to their best hardscape employee. This set the project back by several weeks. At all times, Cory communicated status with us in a timely fashion through email, text, or calls. He also compensated us for the significant delay in the project. In the end, the entire project turned out beautifully and we were very satisfied with the quality of the work by SN. Several weeks after completing the work, SN and Cory returned in a prompt fashion to do some additional seeding and take care of a couple of minor stone adjustments. SN stands by their work...would use them again and highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Second Nature (SN) built a large brick patio with steps from the house, 3 walkways, a separate potting station area, a semicircular stone wall around a fire boulder, and a new brick driveway from our garage. They also re-purposed existing flagstones from the old patio to create a 40' walking path on the side of our house, seeded/fertilized new grass along the path, and created planting beds adjacent to the flagstone path along the south side of our house. In addition, they repaired about 100' of fence by replacing 12 old 4x4 posts that had not been installed properly (no concrete bases), while salvaging the fence structure/pickets.

This was the second time Second Nature Landscapes had done extensive work for us . Cory and team run an exceptional operation from start to finish. Quality Second Nature cared about every detail during the project...from design, stone/materials, and installation. Cory was consistantly asking questions and making sure we all had the information we needed. You absolutely get more than what you pay for with this team. Professionalism The Second Nature team's level of professionalism and pride in their work showed every day. They do not cut any corners. Every night they left the work area picked up and equipment stored appropriately. They had no problem communicating with me when Cory wasn't immediately available and they were very friendly with the entire family. The end product far exceeded my expectations (which is not an easy thing to do). Second Nature Landscapes will always be our first call for all our landscaping needs!

We have been very pleased with Second Nature landscaping. Over the years, they have landscaped our front yard, hardscaped and landscaped our pool area, and returned to make changes and help with the upkeep. They returned again this year and took out the rose bushes and other plants I managed to trim to their deaths! In addition, they cleaned up and moved the plants that have "over-flourished" in this summer's weather. They fixed some of the pavers that have sunk around the pool. Cory Owens and his crews are terrific. They are polite, responsive, and a joy to have around our home working. We've recommended them after each project. Now many of our neighbors have hired them also. The neighborhood is looking good!

Second Nature Landscapes was great to work with, and they did an excellent job with all of the work performed. Cory, the owner, was extremely responsive via e-mail and made the process very easy. He provided a prompt estimate, and the work was done the same week. He even stopped by the day after the work was performed because I voiced some concern over a downspout drain that appeared to be covered by mulch. He unburied the drain exit, and all of our landscaping is ready for summer! I would definitely recommend Cory and his company and will definitely be using them in the future for our landscaping needs.
