Rail Trail Gardens

They told me if I let them plant them, they would guarantee them for up to a year. I let them do this. One tree is fine but the other is 80% dead. I left Mike Cline three messages in late March and he did not return any of them. I finally went out there to speak with him. I mentioned the fact that he had said they would be covered for up to a year and he said they were sale items and were not covered. He refused to stand by the warrantee he had promised one year ago. In addition, he did not check where the irrigation system was before planting and he cut it. I ended up having to get it repaired myself as he would not cover it. REBUTTAL TO SERVICE PROVIDER RESPONSE: Mr. Cline is correct in pointing out that the trees were on sale and that the advertisement states that no warranty is offered. What he fails to mention is that, when we expressed concern about not having a warranty, he verbally offered a one year warranty as long as his crew delivered and planted the trees. For this service he charged us 60% of the original (not sale) price. In retrospect I should have obtained a written document from Mr. Cline at that time but I wrongly assumed that his word was good.

We paid for Rail Trail to plant our tree and were told that by having them plant it we would have a warranty. After a year the tree was over 50% dead and it had been well cared for by us. We called them to ask about it and were told that it didn't have a warranty. They came out and looked anyway and told us to fertilize it and see how it does next spring (2009) and to call them back then. I really want to give my business to a local company rather than a big box, and I assumed there would be a quality difference too. Even the big boxes give year warranties. We'll see what happens next spring.

The thing that I really like about Mike is that he gives back to the community. He has an excellent product and everything he does is well done. He is almost picky about making sure everything is perfect.
