We would highly recommend them. They are a great company. They were prompt and met their appointment times. The folks were good to work with. The workmanship was very good on what they did. The price was less than some other granite companies that we contacted.
Description of Work: We used Olympia Stone because we did a kitchen remodel. They did granite tops for the sinks.

I called to set an appointment for a countertop estimate and spoke with Matt Schuckman. He asked several questions about our kitchen remodel project which was fine, and asked if I knew what kind of granite I wanted. I said I didn't, but was willing to choose from a baseline quality grade and that I was looking to get baseline quotes from 3 companies from Angie's list. His attitude got testy immediately and he asked if I was just going to choose the lowest bidder. I told him I was looking for a reasonable bid and a person/company that I felt comfortable working with. I should have stopped right there and not scheduled a meeting but I decided to schedule anyway because of the Angie's list rating. On the appointment date, Matt called a few minutes after the appointment time and left only a vague message that he was aware of the appointment with no indication of if he was on his way or wanted to reschedule. I tried to get ahold of him on his cell and at his office. He did call back about 15 minutes later and let me know there was a mix-up at the Home and Garden show they were setting up for, but I decided not to reschedule based on the red flags from the initial call and the vague communication around the appointment. This company is highly rated and my experience may have been an anomaly, but unfortunately, this didn't work for me.

This was not a big job for them. I was able to go to their bone yard and find a left over piece of quartz which I could use, which saved me several hundred dollars. I was never made to feel this job was too small - they were patient and gave me good service. I would absolutely use again.
Description of Work: Installed a quartz counter top on a built in dining room buffet - approx 58'' x 21'' - that I had previously had refaced by American Cabinet Refacing.

The quality of the workmanship and the professionalism of the president of the company were excellent. They had a detailed quote which covered all of the basic things we needed done. The job was delayed two weeks, which was our only complaint.
Description of Work: They installed granite counter tops. They were able to dispose of our old counter tops. They also helped us install two built in ovens, two sinks, the hardware with the sinks, and a stove top.

They did an excellent job. The quality of the stone is high. They worked with us to get an excellent layout for the outdoor kitchen. The limestone coping for the spa was custom cut and excellent quality. We did discover a crack in our island countertop. The crack was in the granite when it was purchased from wholesaler but went undetected. The wholesaler's response was that it was purchased as is. Matt from Olympia said that he would replace it at his cost. We very much appreciated his approach and integrity. We now have a new island countertop without a crack. We would recommend Matt and Olympia Stone.

Olympia Stone was recommended to us by a salesperson at The Tile Shop in Castleton. The small showroom had many samples to look at, but what was even better was seeing bunches of granite slabs in the back and choosing the actual slab for our kitchen. The owner and salesperson we dealt with were very helpful and professional and not pushy at all. The installation was prompt and professional. At the installation, one of the workers cut himself and went to the ER, so a call was made and another person came in his place to ensure the job was finished in a timely manner. Our countertops are beautiful!

Bill and Matt were very professional and detail-oriented. We picked out two original marble slabs that had a lot of veining. Bill and Matt met with us for over an hour as we were trying to lay out the pieces to be cut. They wanted us to be 100% satisfied and when they realized that the flow of the pattern and the veining on the slabs weren't working out with our layout, they suggested that we start over with new slabs. Bill went and took pictures of other slabs for us. When we found two different slabs at yet another company Bill met us there and gave us his opinion on the new slabs. We met with Matt again to layout the pieces. They were able to cut our countertops without using any seams and the flow and veining is consistent throughout the kitchen. They did all of this extra work without any extra cost to us. We truly feel that they were most concerned that we were happy and that the countertops look great. The countertops are gorgeous.

Job looks great.

Matt Shuckman was pleasant to work with, and ultimately accommodated our needs/requests. We had some unfortunate issues when they accidentally cut the kitchen sink hole incorrectly. Rather than insist that Olympia completely replace the granite, we asked that they replace the sink that we had purchased on our own, with an equivalent one that could fit in the hole that they cut. Unfortunately, Olympia purchased a non-equivalent sink initially (too shallow), and then had to purchase a third sink to replace the first replacement sink. Olympia went the "extra mile" to rectify their error, but it was apparent that they were not pleased that we did not accept their first replacement sink. Ultimately they corrected their mistakes, but the process was not pleasant for either party. I'm marking that "I paid too much" because we paid a premium to the cabinet contractor for the granite services for their "project management oversight", under the premise that we would have less headaches in the overall project execution. With the errors, we spent a lot of time working directly with Olympia, when we paid a premium to the cabinet contract in order to avoid errors and extra time out of our schedules. In this case, it was not worth passing the costs, and his markup, through the cab contractor.
Description of Work: We worked with Olympia Stone as a subcontractor to our cabinet contractor. Olympia provided granite fabrication and installation services for our kitchen remodel.

Overall, the only negatives (reflected in my ratings) were a breakdown in communication which occurred sometime after the contract was signed in February or March. I initially thought, "Great. They've got the deposit and now they don't have to be responsive any longer." However, it turned out that there was an issue with some of the office personnel which resulted in a reorganization (i.e., termination). Matt Shuckman was very apologetic and assured me that what I had experienced was an aberration. Apparently it was, as things went smoothly from that point forward.
Description of Work: Olympia measured for, designed, fabricated and installed new granite tops for our kitchen. The installers job essentially was to remove a difficult portion of the old countertops, and install a new granite top, including an under-mount sink. The portion of old top left for removal was trapped by an appliance garage, which seemed to me to require the removal of the upper cabinet units. However, Olympia's installers, Scott and Thomas, were able to finesse the old top out (in pieces) without damaging or disturbing anything else. The installation included fitting, leveling and blending the pieces of granite to achieve a uniform surface. The work went very well. The aforementioned crewmen were very professional and highly skilled. I was especially pleased with the color matching they did during the process of filling any gaps and seams. They were efficient, not wasting any time, but taking the time required to do a good job. These guys can work for me any time. Worth mentioning: Part of the work included installing corbels (supports) under an extended granite overhang. The corbels were fabricated by a contractor hired by Olympia, and they used one of our cabinet doors as a color guide. The color was dead-on. The match couldn't have been any better.

We'd use them again. They goofed on a measurement and had to re-ordered a piece. It caused a delay but then they cut a piece for us from the scrap at no add'l charge (as an apology for the inconvenience). Our only complaint was that the owner said at the time of estimate our sink counter would be just 2 pieces. However, when it arrived, they had used 3 and we ended up with a seam across our sink (we wanted to avoid this). In the end, it wasn't a big deal and we felt we got a great deal for the money.

We had planned to use a different contractor but friends highly recommended Olympia Stone. We contacted them via e-mail and fax with detailed drawings and quickly received a quote. After a number of months had passed we finally found some time to pass by their store (which is only open up to 4p.m. during weekdays) to pick the right material. The homeshow was on at that stage and they were busy but got back with an updated quote. We acknowledged via an e-mail that we wanted to proceed and asked them to schedule an on site visit to finalize the details and have them review and measure some additional, more complicated areas around a Jacuzzi that we decided should also be replaced. No response! We sent multiple follow-up e-mails which all remained unanswered. We called multiple times to the office. The friendly receptionist always checked with Bill Schuckman and stated that he is busy but has our contact details and would get back to us.... which over the last 6 weeks did not happen.

I looked a few different granite providers and chose Olympia initially based upon a recommendation by a cabinet company and the feedback on Angie's List. All of the reviews on Olympia turned out to be "as advertised". Matt Schuckman was a pleasure to deal with. Very professional, consistent with follow up and follow through. They were here when they said they would (on a very tight time line). Matt took the time to meet me at the stone supplier when the slab I had originally picked out didn't meet his expectations due to some flaws only detectable by an expert in this area. Bottom line was Olympia did what they said they would do, when they were supposed to do it at a very competitive price. All A's across the board.

They completed the job in two days. Since white marble varies in color, Scott met me a half an hour earlier than the store opens so I could match the tile to the marble and not be late to work. The piece of marble looks great!!!

I recently bought some granite tile to finish our kitchen island and had a very hard time finding a tile saw that would cut a 2' square tile, so I ended up looking for someone to do it for me. That proved to be quite a task as well, but I finally found Olympia Stone. They did a perfect job (and I mean perfect, it required them cutting a line that I taped on the stone, so they couldn't see the job site where it would be installed) and the pieces fit perfectly on my counter top.
