We bought a property with woods galore, but not very much upstairs in the bedroom areas in the way of windows to take in the view, and a fairly small master BR and bath for an upscale, 5,000 sq. ft. house. HW Gunn helped us plan out the remodel, then performed all the work in turnkey fashion. Their subcontractors have generally worked with them for many years, and especially their framer and electrician were meticulous in their work. The result is stunning - tons of light and air. Hank Gunn's brother, Jim, designed and then adjusted as we went in response to our change requests. Hank and Darla's advice in where to put money and time and where to save it was instrumental in the outcome. We have beautiful new spaces, including an upstairs screened in porch off the master BR, but also good reason to believe those spaces will be in great condition with little maintenance, for years to come. We hit two snags - the painter used the wrong product on one part of the job, and we had a mid-construction plumbing leak. In each case, the solution was worked out, and both subcontractors stood behind their work, as did the Gunns. As we would expect, the problems cost us nothing extra, but as important, we didn't have a feud on our hands, as I've heard in so many cases from friends who did large remodel jobs. As for project management, the Gunns communicate very well, are easy to reach, including off-hours, and very responsive. Darla runs a tight ship, with full documentation and sign-off before any bills are paid. We even left town for an entire month during the job. We received updates via email with photos, and made decisions via email and phone calls while away. We would highly recommend them to anyone.

The moment I first spoke with Darla Gunn I liked her...she was professional, exceptionally knowledgeable but very down to earth. The day we first met Hank and Darla we knew we had found the company to build our dream home. They both have a way of knowing exactly what you mean even when you provide them with vague descriptions. I am not sure we knew a quality home until we saw Hank's work. His work always exceeded our expectations. Darla took a huge job (building a home) and broke it down into very easy segments taking away the overwhelming feelings often related to building. They both are also very capable of making everything easy to understand. The home was finished on-time and we came in under budget...can't beat that. We have been in the house 3 months now and are still just as impressed and pleased with the work.
