I had an existing water softener with a cracked resin tank. Called for several different estimates trying to get a middle of the road system... wanted better than the do it yourself from a big box store and didn't want the cadillac. Extremely happy with the system that Cooper's installed - seemed the best option w/best warranty for the price point. Professional, friendly - they'd certainly be my first choice if I had to do it again.

From start to finish these guys did an excellent job. From the initial consult to discuss my needs to the install. I was very impressed by their customer service and professionalism. The warranty they offer is awesome. During the install, the guys were respectful of my house and took their time to do the job right. After they were finished with the install, they explained the system to me in great detail. I would highly recommend this company and I will use them in the future.

The removal of our old unit and the installation of the new softener went smoothly and the quality of the work was very good. Unfortunately, the installer emptied the water left in the old unit onto our driveway, leaving a large unsightly and discolored area. I called Gary and he was clearly unhappy with this situation. He paid to have another company come over that afternoon and power wash the stain off (it's February and cold, you know). That took care of the problem. Even though I'm very happy with this response, I feel obliged to mark them down a grade on "professionalism" because this situation should never have arisen in the first place.

I recently moved to a house without a water softener and called for an estimate and to find out more about a reverse osmosis system. Someone was able to come to the house that day and explain the options and how a reverse osmosis system worked. I decided to go with both and they were able to install it the next day. The installer was very polite and professional and explained what he was doing as he went and showed me how to use everything once he was complete. My water tastes great and will never need to buy bottled water again. Everything went very smoothly and would highly recommend.

From the immediate estimate to the install, the experience was extremely easy. Scott met with me to discuss my water softener needs, explaining equipment and financing options. He provided information on my water quality, and patiently answered all of my questions. As to the installation, Nicholas was prompt, courteous and professional. He took to time to listen and explain to me how to use the equipment. His work is neat and organized. This company is the "best" example of professional I have had the pleasure of working with - excellent communication. I would definitely use their services as applicable in the future.

Great experience. If you have been searching for someone to install a water softner you have found it. I did alot of research. I am so pleased with Cooper's. I am always nervous inviting people into my house with my young children at home. Nicholas was wonderful! He was so professional, respectful and efficient. He is so happy with his job and speaks so highly of his boss. Happy employees make a good company. Before leaving Nicholas gave me instructions on the use and care for our new water softner and reverse osmosis system and made sure I understood. Cooper's is the company in town! Definately get the R/O system! So much more affordable than buying bottled water every week, tastes better and better for the environment.

Kevin was great at solving the problem which caused our water to be hard after installation of a new water softener by a licensed plumber not associated with Coopers. He tested the water by tasting it and said "your water is definitely hard" With 15 minutes or so he found a valve that needed to be closed and that solved the problem. We were very pleased with the tinmliness and knowledge displayed by the technician.

We have 17 grains of hardness here on the northwest side of Marion county so we really want softened water. I had been a Kinetico customer for 16 years and really never had to do anything major to my dual-tank K60 system. Recently we started to notice some pressure problems with the RO drinking water system, so I called Kinetico for an evaluation. A very nice sales guy came out and took our system apart to evaluate it for free. Naively, I assumed that their non-electric system design would run forever, but their salesman explained that in the past decade Indianapolis started using a lot more chlorine and chloramines to disinfect our city water, and those chemicals eat the rubber gaskets in the valve and degrade the resin in the tank. Believe me, you don't want to wait until your resin fails, because it degrades to an apple-sauce-type sludge which enters the water pipes and can severely damage your appliances. He showed me that after 16 years (really 8 service-years since it is dual tank) my resin was just starting to break down. So Kinetico quoted me a price for a new dual-tank Q850 system with carbon tanks, to remove the chlorine in my whole house. Now don't get me wrong, I have long been a big fan of the Kinetico design and still am; the non-electric control system and dual-tank-never-run-out-of-soft-water approach really appeals to me. But when I did the research, I determined that there were some appealing alternatives. Water softener competitors have come a long way in 16 years, and you can get the job done for a lot less money (less than half the Kinetico price - even after their $1000 customer loyalty discount). After all, at the end of the day, all we are trying to do is get clean, clear water with zero grains of hardness, right? It was also disappointing to learn that a piece of equipment I paid many thousands of dollars for in 1999 could not be rebuilt/repaired for a reasonable price. So I found the Cooper Water team on A's-list with their great reviews, and I called them. Mr. Cooper (Scott) came out the following day and looked at our situation. He recommended a Clack-brand, model WS-1 valve, and single-tank system with a Centaur carbon tank (for the chlorine) stacked over a regular resin softener, for half my Kinetico estimate. So it came down to a Kinetico vs. Clack showdown; I started my research. The Clack valve is electric-powered (uses about $2 of power per year, and has a battery back-up), but it's regen cycle is triggered by the metered usage of water like a Kinetico. This was a must-have for me. In 2015 we should not be on a blind, dumb scheduled recharge that wastes tons of salt. It is also smart enough to track your family's usage pattern over the past 60 days to predict when best to regenerate. It targets 2 AM (configurable) for the recharge, or whenever you decide water usage is low. My research also convinced me that a dual-tank system was overkill in a residential application too. It is highly unlikely we (three people) will ever run out of soft water since there is a buffer built into the calculations of the Clack. So after some extensive internet research, I bought Cooper's Clack-valve system. I appreciated that Mr. Cooper worked me in so quickly for the installation; I was going out of town on business that week and wanted to sort out the water problem for my family before I left. Their installer came out after 4PM when I requested it and was available. He knocked it out for me that night before I left. He was very nice, competent and worked quickly, in spite of my many questions. The addition of the Centaur carbon tank was a few hundred dollars more than just their standard softener, but the notion of removing the chlorine/chloramines from the entire house supply was too good to pass up. (Though it is important to note that the carbon tank does not protect the water softener valve from chlorine in either system design, because the softener valve is in front of the carbon tank... So you still have chlorine damage occurring in the valve.) Now when we shower, it doesn't smell like a swimming pool, and we are not absorbing the chlorine in our skin or breathing it in the air of the shower. I expect our clothing colors will also last longer. You really should read up on the dangers of chlorine and especially chloramines. Mr. Cooper said they also use one of the the best brands of softener resin (Dow-brand) in their system (just like the Kinetico) and the Calgon-brand Centaur carbon should be good for 8 - 10 years. So the softener valve is the softener, effectively. I did read in many places that the Clack valve is one of the best in the industry (Fleck is the other one) - very simple to work on and its non-proprietary design means you can go to lots of places to get parts and labor. Not so with Kinetico. You are a captive customer after you buy from them; even the tubing they use for their RO drinking systems is a non-standard, proprietary diameter. Customers are not allowed to do business with Kinetico dealers outside their region either. The other impressive thing about this system is that Cooper Water offers a 7-year parts and 7-year labor warranty. Kinetico offers a 10-year warranty on parts, but only 1 year on labor. I can tell you their labor is not cheap. Cooper also offers discounts for Angie's List members and for paying by cash/check. In the end, I am comfortable with my decision. My conclusion is that it breaks down this way: You can spend $500 on a cheap DIY system, $1,000 - $1,500 on a Clack-type system from a water professional, or $3,000 - $4,000 on a very fine Kinetico system. Unfortunately, regardless of what you spend, a softener is not going to last forever. I am very happy being in the middle range. That $500 softener is going to last 4 - 5 years (with no service to back it up), might waste salt, and may not always deliver soft water. This $1500 system is going to give me a 7-year, not-my-problem warranty and should give me more than twice that time in solid service. Sadly, spending $3K - $4K doesn't guarantee you any longer life or softer water, because the resin and the rubber gaskets are the same. Kinetico makes a good, probably great, product, but IMO their price is beyond justification and their warranty does not reflect the price paid for what amounts to a few plastic tanks with off-the-shelf resin and a nice, smartly-designed control valve. Kinetico also really does not score well in the Indianapolis A-list reviews for service and satisfaction. (May have something to do with the fact that they are a corporate-owned store now.) Come on Kinetico, if you are going to charge Lexus prices, you need to offer Lexus service, reliability, and warranties. Good luck with your decision.

First off, the salesman (Scott) was one of the most genuine and trust worthy people I've met in a long time. He took his time and explained to me all of the options. Never did he pressure me. He was extremely knowledgable and helped me understand what I did and did not need. To top it off, his prices were better than all the others and they were able to install my new system the very next business day. The installer (travis) called before he arrived and showed up on time. He was very respectful of our home. He installed the softener and RO system and took time to explain how they work. He hauled off my old equipment and left no mess behind. Our drinking water now tastes better than the bottled water we've been hauling in by the case and our new soft water is amazing! I could not be happier with the entire experience. I would give them a strong thumbs up and would recommend them to anyone.

Removed old Kinetico system, new system works incredible. Scott did the estimate, came out the same day I called, and was great to work with. The installers were equally fabulous, polite and professional. They also gave us a 7 year parts and labor warranty, I believe this is a standard warranty for their softeners...kinda hard to beat!!!

Since Monday was a holiday, I was scheduled for Tuesday. Got a call from the two guys that they were on their way. When they arrived, they wanted to make sure they parked in the correct place. They introduced themselves and laid out what was going to happen and approximate time frame. Derek was the lead guy and (I can't remember other guys name) worked for awhile and then had to go to another job. It took Derek longer since he was by himself. There was a slight glitch in the installation because this is a historical area (read old house) but they figured out a way to make the installation work. I was impressed with their ability to adapt while paying attention to safety. They kept me informed along the way. When Derek finished, he cleaned up after himself. Took all the cardboard and pieces of pipe away. It was wonderful! He did a very professional job. Both guys were a joy to have around. I was very comfortable with them. I will tell my neighbors about Coopers and the wonderful job they did for me. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Scott came out on Friday and explained the systems he could install and guided me through the selection process. No pressure at all. Very educational. I had researched other companies and had decided on another one, but couldn't beat the reviews on here for Cooper.

We had enough with hard water in our area. We new it was ruining our appliances and tired of irritated skin in the winter. I also had enough with lugging case after case of bottled water from costco every couple of weeks. I researched different products online and was not sure if I was going to buy a system from Lowes or hire a company. I am really glad that I didn't go the big box route. We moved into our house 18 months ago and I had screwed enough stuff up myself that I just wanted to hire someone and get it done right. I had three top rated companies come out to get quotes (all A rated on Angie's List) Surprisingly all of the companies gave great information and were completely no pressure. Coopers water was the first to come out. Scott the owner came and went over the options. I had the other two companies come out later that week. I really liked Scott and the Salesman in me just wanted to hire him right away. I am glad I didn't because it really allowed me to compare the companies and reinforce my decision to hire Cooper's. One Company was very comparable with price, the other was $600 more. The owner of the comparable company was who I met. He basically sold me on Cooper's. His statement was "If it's a good company the products are basically the same, you should make your decision on service and warranty" Cooper's had the best warranty of all of them. They have been in business forever here in Indiana. Once I called Scott everything was installed within a couple of days. We love the soft water and the RO system is much better than our bottled water. Best Investment on our home so far. HIGHLY RECOMMEND COOPER'S WATER.
