Ralph arrived exactly on time and did a very thorough job of cleaning our gas furnace. He checked and cleaned twelve different parts on the furnace and that is reflected on the check sheet/bill. Ralph was very informative and educated me about heating systems as he worked. Although our Space-Gard air filter reportedly is good for two years, I've decided to have it replaced every six months. Ralph shared that the material can lose its charge and not be as effective after the first six months. I'll definitely be requesting Ralph in the future. His work is a drastic contrast to other companies' service men who took off the cover, looked at the furnace, and put the cover back on when doing fall tune ups.

The tech was on time (actually early) did a very thorough inspection and answered all of my questions. He provided suggestions and tips on how we could improve this or that. I have used them several times for similar things, and have always been impressed. They are the best around, as far as I can tell.

They scheduled and performed the work in only 2 business days after receiving the quote. They performed in a very professional manner and completed the work in one day. This company is a class-act and I would highly recommend them to anyone. I will be their customer as long as they will have me.

Be prepared for strange noises after the ducts are cleaned. The dirt seems to muffle or prevent rattling, vibrating and other sounds. Not a complaint as we now have clean ducts. Just a warning not to panic if you hear unfamiliar sounds. It was a very positive experience and I appreciate the extra attention provided.

Meredith showed up early which is a true pleasure when most contractors show up late or not at all. He was careful to not bring soil and leaves into my home, kept me informed of what needed to be done with my furnace and humidifier and did an outstanding job of having the parts needed so both filters could be replaced on the same day as my service.

They've been really excellent. It's easy to make an appointment with them. They show up on time. They call us a little ahead of time to double check and make sure we are here. They give us options if we have something wrong. They give the option of just fixing the problem, then other steps if we wanted to go above and beyond and really fix the problem forever for example. We have a yearly contract with them. We have a little bit of a problem with our heat pump and they are going to come out soon to work on that.

Control Tech came out for the annual service on my furnace. Tony was awesome as usual. In the summer of 2010, he pretty much tore apart my 35 year old AC unit (for under $100) and it has been working fine every since. He even got the fan to rotate in the proper direction! I bought my 1950's limestone ranch a couple of years ago, and the house is just plain freezing in the winter. I asked Tony if he would mind trying to identify why some vents just don't have a forceful air flow. He inspected everything and determined the original ductwork design left a lot to be desired. That was pretty much the missing piece of the puzzle, and he went above and beyond to help identify the problem and suggest a potential fix. This has been my experience with Control Tech over the years. They are reliable, professional and extremely knowledgeable. I would highly recommend them (Tony, specifically) to anyone who is looking to make their home more comfortable and energy efficient. I would not consider calling anyone else.

Since building our home 13 years ago, we have struggled with our master suite getting considerably warmer in the summer than the rest of the house because of how the sun hits it. As part of a major master suite renovation, we called Control Tech to see if they could provide some solution (we have previously used them for HVAC maintenance and in November 2010, they replaced our central heating and cooling units). They came up with a great solution of an auxiliary heat pump which is mounted near the ceiling in the hallway connecting our master bedroom to the bath. The compressor sits outside beside our central AC compressor, so it is completely silent when it's in operation. The installation went great, although we had a small problem with condensate dripping on to the floor when the AC ran. They were out the next day to re-route the drain tube (it had been slanting a little which cased condensate to roll into the room rather than through the tube into the drain) and we've used the unit almost daily since with no problem whatsoever. One of the things that always impresses us with Control Tech is that they always send someone out a week or so after the job is completed to do and inspection and to make sure that we're happy with the quality of the work.

Control Tech is an outstanding company. I entertained more than one bid for this work and was very concerned over what the potential costs where going to be. The first visit by one of the contractors I called (not Control Tech) was very disconcerting. After a quick conversation and look at my systems with the sales representative, we began a conversation that made me feel like I was buying a used car. Ultimately, their quote was $22K (with a couple of trumped up discounts (he said they would eat the sales tax!)) that reduced the quote to $20K. This sales person also told me that I was only eligible for a special financing deal if I bought top of the line systems. The sales person seemed dismayed when I told him I would be getting additional bids. My next bid was from Control Tech, their representative (Clay Winters) was extremely professional and polite. After a thorough look at both my systems, measurements, and a few questions, he began to work on my proposal on his laptop. When I received their proposal they offered three different levels of systems and pricing with the best system nearly $5k LESS than the previous proposal. I knew at that point, that the previous vendor was simply trying to get the highest price he could thinking that I had no other alternative. After that I called Control Tech and asked them to do the work. The installation didn't disappoint me. Outstanding in every way. My advice to Angie List members when buying HVAC systems: Buyer beware! Get more than one quote and make sure you always include Control Tech!

I contacted Control Tech on Facebook asking them to come out to give us a quote. I received a telephone call the next morning to schedule a time to come out and they came out the same week to inspect our system and provide a quote. Brad arrived on time, went under our crawl space to inspect our duct work, inspected our old furnace and inspected our old a/c unit. He informed us that the duct work was in very good shape but needed the insulation replaced, which is something Control Tech does not do. He did give me the details of what to get and how to get the job done in case my husband wanted to do it himself to save money. While he was here he sat at his computer and gave us a proposal based on our request which included good, better and best scenarios. This process took about 10 minutes. He very thoroughly discussed each plan with me, discussed the actual out-of-pocket costs for each including rebates and tax deductions. In the end I decided to go with the best scenario because I felt it was the better system for the price. Within a day or two I received a call to schedule the installation. They came out the following week, arrive right on time (actually 15 minutes early) and began the removal and installation project. It took 2 men 2 full days to get the job completed and they were very respectful in that they cleaned up after themselves and worked at a steady pace. At no time did I see them not working or standing around other than to leave at lunch time. They even worked past 5pm to get what they needed to get finished for the day. The next day they were back right on time and worked until the job was complete. They reviewed the system with us and showed us how to operate the new thermostat. They were very professional, dependable and reliable. I am very please with the services. I have used Control Tech for several years to come out and clean my old furnace, add freon when necessary and little things of that nature. I have always been please with their services on the smaller stuff and was just as please with this larger job.

Excellent communication, responsiveness and clarity. Price was competitive. Would have chosen them except the other finalist company was our current heating and cooling company and they gave us an extra customer discount which (along with their good track record also) tipped the decision. Recommend you have ControlTech quote you either new or service if you live on the north side

My service technician Chris, arrived promptly with his shirt tucked in and booties on his shoes. In a timely manner and positive attitude, he fixed the air quality around my house. They installed new parts. It wasn't installed quite right initially, but they came right back the next day to fix it. The service was good. Their fee was much lower than a company that we'd used in the past. I was impressed with them, and I would use them again.
