Description of Work: After 20 years living in Greenwood and attempting to upgrade a 45 year old house, we have a lot of experience with contractors: some good; many bad. Some lucid and competent; some who come stoned on dope and take forever. We have now moved to a new home on the north side, but still wanted to do some "tweaking" of the interior. We retained Scott Burkley of Burkley & Associates and we could not have been more pleased. In fact, subsequently, two sets of friends have also utilized Scott's company and were also wholly satisfied. We have very high ceilings, heavy furniture and many areas that required additional skill, such as painting around a stacked stone fireplace and a high stairwell. Scott and his crew were EXCELLENT! HE came for his initial appointment armed with many paint samples, picked up the paint supplies, cleaned up very well and made the whole experience positive. I requested brand new drop cloths that had not been used in any other homes and he complied with my request. His crew was well-mannered, anxious to please and were very, very, very good painters. There were several areas that needed touch ups which we discovered after the painting and they were back instantly to make it perfect. We later used them for upstairs painting of our library and a bedroom and bathroom. We lucked up when using Angie's List to find painters and used Burkley & Associates, because we found an excellent company that I would recommend to anyone. My husband and I are both professional people and it is refreshing to discover other professionals who take pride in their work and give you a lot of bang for your buck!

Description of Work: We had a new door installed. Scott Burkley gave a very competitive price estimate over the phone, and visited to help us select the color of the door. The technician arrived promptly on the scheduled day and did an excellent job of the painting. These are pleasant people to work with and I am very happy to recommend them to others.

+ -1 moreWe had a lot of subcontractors in our house over the three months of our renovation but Scott's team was one of the best. They showed up on time - 7:30 am every day. The crew was pleasant and worked hard. We are very pleased with the work and will use them again if we need anything else painted. Scott came by several times to check on the job site and spoke with us to make sure we were pleased with his crew's work.
Description of Work: Burkley and Associates painted our entire first floor of our house, the stairwell, and a den. They also painted all of the trim. This work was done as a subcontractor to our general contractor so we don't know the price.

Description of Work: Scott's crew painted all the walls in our house. They did an excellent job. They were clean, courteous and pleasant to have in my house. I knew their work would be good because I had watched them paint the exterior of a house across the street. I was impressed with the care they took with surface preparation which is, in my opinion, the most important part of the job. I had them paint the exterior of all three of my son's homes, and was pleased with their work. So when it came to painting the interior of my house, I knew I wanted Scott to do it.

He was very professional and seemed detail oriented. I chose to go with another contractor (also from Angie's List) that also had a good presentation and reputation, but was lower in price.

+ -1 moreWe asked for this company to give us an estimate on interior painting (2 rooms, stairwell, hallway) and the exterior trim of the house. The person called on the day he was to come for the estimate and stated he couldn't make it that day but would come the next day. On the 2nd day, we had to call him to find out when he was coming. He did come on the 2nd day but seemed to be in a hurry. He wrote his estimate on the back of his business card. When we asked for an itemized estimate, he told us he would provide an itemized statement when we hired him for the job. We didn't consider his estimate since it wasn't itemized, and we didn't know exactly what his estimate covered.

THEY ARRIVED ON TIME EVERY DAY (JUST BEFORE WE LEFT FOR WORK), AND HAD CLEANED UP BEFORE WE CAME HOME FROM WORK EVERY DAY. THEY WERE VERY CONSIDERATE OF OUR LANDSCAPING, TOO. THEY WERE VERY NEAT! WHEN THE JOB WAS DONE, THE ONLY WAY YOU KNEW THEY WERE HERE WAS BY THE LOOKS OF OUR BEAUTIFULLY PAINTED HOUSE!
Description of Work: CLEANED EXTERIOR OF HOUSE, CAULKED, PREPARED HOUSE FOR PAINTING, THEN PAINTED ENTIRE HOUSE. HE DISCUSSED VARIOUS TYPES OF PAINT AND COLOR. WE WERE GOING TO HAVE GUTTERS REPLACED AND HE COORDINATED TIME WITH THE OTHER CONTRACTOR IN ORDER TO GET BOTH JOBS DONE. THE GUTTER CONTRACTOR CAME BEFORE THE PAINTER STARTED AND REMOVED THE OLD GUTTERS. THE PAINTERS REPLACED GUTTER BOARDS AS NECESSARY, AND THEN PAINTED THEM. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF PAINT LEFT ON ANYTHING THAT WASN'T TO BE PAINTED.

THEY PAID CLOSE ATTENTION TO MINOR DETAILS AND SPENT THE LAST HALF OF THE FOURTH DAY SCOPING OUT ALL POTENTIAL SPOTS THAT NEEDED ANOTHER COAT. ALL THIS WAS HAND PAINTED. THE FINISHED PRODUCT IS VERY NICELY DONE.
Description of Work: WE HAD OUR ENTIRE HOUSE CAULKED AND PAINTED WITH TWO COATS. DAMAGED TRIM BOARDS WAS REPLACED AND ROUGH SPOTS WERE SANDED AND SCRAPED. WE ALSO HAD OUR GAZEBO (10X16) STAINED. ALL THE TRIM WAS PAINTED BY HAND AND MOST OF THE SIDING WAS SPRAYED.
