Quick to respond to my request for a bid. Provided detail sketch of the work along with the estimate. Although the estimate was higher than two others I picked Barthuly because they had the best proposal and they made modifications per my request. The work was done well and on time. except for some minor damage to the lawn the work place was left clean and in descent shape.

I had received an estimate from another company that's new to the area, and wanted to get another bid before I made up my mind. I found Barthuly in Angie's list and a few days later was meeting with Ken Barthuly. He was both professional and very knowledgeable. The same can be said of Brett, the installation manager. The price was a little higher than the first bid, but it included some extras such as an upgraded and very sophisticated control box. This would alledgedly save enough money on water bills to quickly pay for the difference. I signed the contract and was asked for a very reasonable deposit. About 3 weeks later (acceptable during their busy season) a 4-man crew showed up and finished the job in two days. They worked quickly and very neatly. Considering the big hole required near the meter pit, and the numerous trenches through 4 zones, the yard was repaired better than I expected. I was AMAZED at how carefully these men worked around shrubs, flowers, and the nearby wood fence. Absolutely nothing was damaged. They even wrapped the tree trunks for protection. We noted some initial noise inside the house (hammering of plumbing) when the system turned on. A plumber was quickly brought in to check out the cause. Brett also came back within just a couple of days to fine-tune the spray area to avoid water hitting the neighbor's fence. So far the system is working great and the controller (with its "weather station") is doing its job by limiting wasted water. I had high expectations, and Ken, Brett, and their workers did a really good job. I hope they're equally good in the future when service is needed.

It was a great experience from the start. When Ken Barhuly arrived he designed the system and delivered to us a very detailed drawing of our landscaping zone, we were so impress by the drawing we would have hired him on the spot if the funds available. So after we had the funds we hired them. From project went great from start to finish. I wanted to comment professionalism of Bret, Barhuly's project manager.. Bret was always present to answer question or concerns. Bret was very dedicated making sure the sprinkler system was working properly. After the system was installed, Bret had set up the sprinkler system according to my instructions so I didn't' have to do this. Barthuly also trains its customers on how to program the unit I honestly couldn't not believe how easy the Rain Bird System was to use. I want to applaud the Rain Bird Company for making user friendly control box. And I wanted to thank everyone at Barthuly for doing a great job.

We are very happy with them. They do a great job and we will continue to use them.

They are very responsive, professional and punctual. Their pricing is very reasonable as well. The quality of their work is good and I have been satisfied with their service.

Some friends recommended them to us and we decided to go with them. They were really nice. They had to dig and find where the main box was. They did a lot of work to find that and looked at different irrigation heads. They were really helpful.

We immediately called Barthuly when we discovered the problem on Friday, 9/11/09, mid-afternoon. I could not get an answer, so I left a detailed message. I called later and still could not get an answer. No one answered again on Saturday, since they have no Saturday office hours. It is Monday, 9/14, at 10 a.m. and Barthuly has still not returned my messages!

Had 3 companies bid on my project. Chose Barthuly because they did an excellent job of estimating / designing the proposal plus they had the best price. They were very easy to communicate with to fine tune the contract to my needs. Their Operations Mgr always handled everything quickly leading up to the installation day. Day of installation had absolutely no surprises....they all worked very hard in very hot weather. Showed us how to operate the system. Came back the next day and tweaked a couple of rotors. System has worked flawlessy since then. Absolutely would not have any hesitation to recommend this company to anybody....Job well done!

The feedback they gave me was often inconsistent or conflicting. At one point, it seemed to take them a very long time to try to find out what the problem with our system was. It took about four visits, and I'm not sure they even ever found it out for sure. They never finally fixed it because, at one point, they told me the pump was fine, and then the next call they said they weren't sure, then they said it was fine, then they said it was probably a different problem.

I will definitely use them in the future.

Barthuly was recommended to us by our Landscape Designer. Ken Barthuly came to our house the day after I first called him and within a week sent us a complete drawing of our yard that pinpointed where all of the heads would be installed, a list of the equipment that would be used and information about what the installation would cover. Approximately a week before the install, Brett contacted me to let me know what days they would likely be there, of course weather depending, and to let me know that they would need access to the basement. This was especially nice since it allowed me some time to work with my employer to ensure I could be home on the days they would need access to the house. The total installation time took about 2 days and the workers were extremely professional. All the work was completed exactly when they said it would be and Brett also scheduled an appointment with us to discuss how to use our new system. We couldn't be more pleased and I'm very impressed with how professional and well organized this company is. It's been very pleasant and refreshing to work with them.

Our backyard was covered in 6" of water with the water gurgling out of the ground in one spot. Called plumber and they thought it was an underground spring due to the amount of water coming up. They suggested I contact an excavator, Excavator came and asked where sprinkler system water supply was and he turned it off. The water immediately subsided and made a large sucking sound. Since Barthuly winterized our system and opened it up, I naturally called them. They came out and found a PVC pipe was cracked causing the major leak. In one hour it was replaced and is now working as good as new. Jeff was knowledgeable and knew exactly what needed to be done. We will continue to use them for servicing our sprinkler system.

I had scheduled them to come and open the system. I say that the agreement was Friday, May 15th, 2009 after 3:00pm. At 2:00pm I received a call at work on my cell phone. The representative from Barthuly said that he was at my house ready to go to work. I indicated to him I was at work and he was supposed to be there after 3:00pm. His response was that he would go complete another job and catch me on the way back. I said fine, and I would be home at 3:00. I had to take time off from work to make this time. I waited all afternoon and evening and received no call and he didn't show up. When inquiring about this at Barthuly I was surprised to get the response that they never schedule any appointments after 2:00pm. I said that they had done this in the last three years and the lady said they never have done this. Considering I took time off from work to even make a 3:00pm appointment, I will never use them again. Further, if I had known about the change in policy, I would have never used them.

It was a pleasure to do business with this company. They delivered what they promised.

They coordinated well with the landscaper. They showed up exactly when they were supposed to and they were in and out. I did not have to sit around and wait on them.

The entire reason for such bad grades stems from the fact that we had Barthuly to do our first maintenance and spring prep for our lawn irrigation system after moving to a new home early last spring. Their initial work was fine, a bit pricey, but we thought we would continue with them and just see if the service was as great as others had reported. Later in the early fall, Barthuly sent out a letter stating we were scheduled for our winterization, and even stated the week the work would be performed. It also stated that there would be contact from them to coordinate access to the system control panel, etc. Again, we thought this was a great and proactive approach. We thought the time slot was late in the season, but they were the experts and we trusted them. Well...the time came with no contact (even though we were confident they had all our contact information correct). The actual week came and went with no contact or message about the schedule or when the service would be provided. We were nearing the point of calling to ask when the work was actually going to be performed, but before we did, we had a cold night and our system froze breaking the back flow valve and causing a great "geyser" in our front yard. Barthuly wasn't responsible for the cold night or the frozen system, BUT we were highly disappointed that we were left with no contact from them and the information we received had clearly stated the process, which didn't seem to be followed at all. Yes we could have called too, but the process seemed to be very well structured and made sense. To this day, we have had NO contact from the company. We obviously went to another company who has performed very, very well, did exactly what they said, communicated very well and will get our future business. Our lesson with Barthuly is not to trust the letter scheduling winterization and to call well ahead anyway to verify their scheduling. It was a big disappointment and one hopefully others can avoid.

They are a local company and they are able to provide follow-up services. The owners are both graduates and are knowledgeable. The price was reasonable. Sometimes it is hard to get a hold of them.

Great! They were very professional on the phone; I called at 4:50 PM on a Friday, and they were still really nice and accommodating. They quickly got me scheduled for the following week and arrived on-time. Pricing was better than the previous homeowner's company due to the $15 Angie's List coupon, which Barthuly suggested I get off the Angie's List website.

They have provided great service. When some sprinkler leaks were found in our yard they found them, repaired them, and cleaned up after the work. This year (Fall 2008) they completed the winterization ahead of schedule.

Moved into a new house with existing lawn system. Barthuly came out to inspect and turn on the service. A new fence required that several heads be moved, and the work was completed on the spot. Excellent service!

They did an ok job. They did arrive on time for the job. They did quality work and were very easy to work with. The price that they gave me was a little on the high end.

They were able to take care of everything with just one phone call. They did a good job at checking to make sure everything was working correctly when they turned it on. They followed up with a letter and let us know when they would shut down the system. It was nice we did not have to remind them.

My experience with them was very good. They were very professional and helpful. They came out and installed everything and it works beautifully. We had questions and we called them and they were very helpful.

We have had experience with Barthuly in the past, so we knew what to expect. After some initial confusion regarding getting an estimate (we got lost in the shuffle with an employee who had left), Ken Barthuly came and did the walk-through himself and provided the estimate in electronic form (pdf document). The crew showed up on a Friday to do prep work, and then started the next Monday. It took them a day and half to get things completed. A couple of minor slip ups (crew mistakenly cut our phone and cable lines) but they worked with the phone company and the cable company, and had the problem fixed within hours. System works great, and my yard is now looking much better. I will continue to be a fan, and will go to them first for all my irrigation system needs.

We have a big yard. They even go out of their to follow up and make sure you are happy with their work.
