The gentlemen who showed up to install were on time, did a great job, cleaned up and were very friendly. Thorough sales presentation, though too long. Hard sell on triple-pane windows. Heavy incentives to use triple pane windows when everyone else was recommending double-pane. Answered questions and brought a sample window. Not much information on the sliding doors. Price was a bit high.

We were happy with just 1 Apex and 2 Alside employee's. Matt(sales) was professional, apologetic, and proactive. The Alside engineer who checked the defective windows and the 2nd installer were also professional and concerned. The rest of our experience was unsatisfactory. Mike (company president) initially neither accepted culpability nor willingly explored compromises. He assumed no responsibility for his business partners, placed blame for sub-quality products on the manufacturer, and explained away our poor experience with 1st installers as 'unusual'. He never offered apologies for defective product, nor an explanation for damaged windows being installed. We withheld $1,200 from Apex, the difference between the first and second orders. This seemed reasonable compensation for the fiasco it had been. Stacy Weaver called our home many times demanding payment using veiled threats; even inappropriately telling our daycare provider financial information and payment requirements.
Description of Work: Apex approached us in the summer of 2005. After investigation, though not enough, we placed an order with them. We called roughly 6 weeks later to determine when the windows would arrive. 1 week later they were partially installed, but we noted many defects in the vinyl, locking mechanisms, frame, and supporting structures. We also found window debris, (including nails) in our driveway and car tires after installation. We stopped installation (their contract states once installation is completed, full payment is due) and contacted Apex's president. After reluctantly acknowledging defects, Apex had Alside replace all window units at no cost to Apex. We were told the windows were to arrive and be installed within 3 weeks. Over the next 6 weeks we contacted the company many times for the delivery date. Each time we called were told 'later this week'. After 7 weeks the new windows were installed. Ants are coming through the windows and patio door, we must contact Alside to repair caulking.

THEY CHOSE THE WRONG WINDOWS FOR THEIR HOME. THE INITIAL CONTRACT CALLED FOR TWO-LITE SLIDERS, WHICH WERE A CHEAPER OPTION THAN THE CASEMENTS THEY ORIGINALLY HAD. ALTHOUGH THE WINDOWS WERE MADE AND WERE BEING INSTALLED THEY WERE NOT HAPPY WITH THE LOOK, AND INSTEAD DECIDED TO ATTACK THE QUALITY. THE WINDOWS HAD NOT BEEN WRAPPED OR TRIMMED WHEN, THEY SENT OUR CREWS HOME. A FEW WINDOWS HAD RAISED WELDS, WHICH THE MANUFACTURE REP WAS WILLING TO REMAKE AND REPLACE AT NO COST. HOWEVER, I PERSONALLY VISITED THEM AND READING BETWEEN THE LINES IT WAS EASY TO SEE THEY WANTED A DIFFERENT LOOK. I OFFERED THEM CASEMENTS AT COST ON A NEW CONTRACT TO MAKE THEM HAPPY. THEY WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THIS BECAUSE APEX WAS LOSING THOUSANDS IN UNUSED WINDOWS THAT THEY WERE OBLIGATED TO KEEP AS THEY ARE ALL CUSTOM MADE. AFTER THE NEW WINDOWS WERE INSTALLED THEY WERE VERY HAPPY AND WE WERE IN CONSTANT COMMUNICATION WITH THEM. HOWEVER, ONCE THE NEW WINDOWS WERE IN, HE CALLED US TO TRY AND NEGOTIATE ANOTHER $1,000 OFF THE NEW CONTRACT AMOUNT. HE SAID, HE WOULD CALL ANGIE'S LIST IF WE DID NOT GIVE HIM THE DISCOUNT. HE CITED THE REASON AS THE PROCESS TAKING TOO LONG. OF COURSE, THE PROCESS WAS DELAYED TO LETTING HIM OUT OF HIS OLD AGREEMENT AND ORDERING A NEW SET OF WINDOWS AT COST! WE EXPLAINED NO FURTHER DISCOUNTS WERE JUSTIFIED. HE CONTACTED ANGIE'S LIST NEARLY ONE YEAR LATER.

The Apex installers arrived at the appointed time, and went to work skillfully & efficiently to install our new Alside windows in our two story home in one day. They were very careful not to track dirt and debris into our home, nor did they disrupt our activities. The new windows looked perfect inside and out. After the installation was complete, the crew was very careful to thoroughly clean up the workplace. I have nothing but praise for the way the APEX organization handled this project.

WE WERE GIVEN THE OPTION OF JUST LEAVING THE MAINFRAMES AS IS (WHICH PROHIBITS OUR SCREENS FROM WORKING AS DESIGNED) AND ALLOW THE WINDOW MANUFACTURER TO PAY THE REMAINING $1000 BALANCE TO APEX TO END OUR OBLIGATION OR, HAVE THE MANUFACTURER REPLACE THE MAINFRAMES (RIPPING OUT THE WINDOWS AGAIN) AND PAYING THE BALANCE. Response from Apex Energy Solutions
As mentioned, several (not all) of the member's screens did not close as smoothly as they should. It was agreed that clips on the screens might correct this issue. Apex paid for, and installed the clips. The screens remained an issue. We IMMEDIATELY got the manufacturer, Alside involved. Please note that the member's offered to pay the balance and it was Apex that refused payment until a solution was made. Alside offered to remake all the mainframes and re-install all windows at no cost! We have NOT asked for the$1,000 due although it is clearly stated in Alside's warranty that all such issues are covered. In addition, we have offered a $200 discount for the irritation. Apex has done everything in our power to make sure the member's get what they ordered. They have not been threatened nor treated with hostility, however despite our offer to correct the issue and discount the windows, the member's have asked for an extra $1,000 off- Apex feels that this not reasonable.

I TAKE REPRESENTATION OF THIS TYPE WITH A GRAIN OF SALT AND QUESTION THE VALIDITY OF THE 'OFFER'. IN FAIRNESS TO THE COMPANY I HAVE NOT RATED THE EXPERIENCE AS BAD OR LOUSY. Description of Work: THE SALESWOMEN (WHO CONTACTED US ON THE BASIS OF A DRIVE-BY) WAS NICE. WE NEEDED TO RE-SCHEDULE THE APPT WITH THEIR ''MARKETING'' REP. WHO DID NOT SHOW UP FOR THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. THE PRESIDENT CALLED EARLIER THAT DAY TO ADVISE OF CONFLICT IN SCHEDULING BUT WE HAD BEEN OUT UNTIL CLOSE TO THE APPT TIME. IN OUR ATTEMPTS TO CALL BACK WE WERE UNABLE TO REACH THE PRESIDENT. THE SALESWOMEN CALLED TO CHECK ON THE TIMING AND SOMEHOW A 2 PM APPTOINTMENT ON A SATURDAY WAS CHANGED ON THEIR PART TO A 6 PM TIME FRAME THAT DAY, WHEN THIS HAD ALREADY BEEN IDENTIFIED AS A CONFLICT FOR US. WE THOUGHT THE PERSON WOULD BE COMING LATE I.E. 4 PM. WHILE APOLOGETIC THESE CIRCUMSTANCE MADE ME SKEPTICAL AS TO THE CALIBER OF COMPANY I WAS DEALING WITH. I WAS ALSO TURNED OFF BY THEIR REPEATED REPRESENTATION AS TO THE SELECTIVE AND PREMIER OFFER OPPORTUNITY AS A MODEL HOME TO DISPLAY THEIR WINDOWS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.

I USED APEX ENERGY SOLUTIONS AGAIN TO PURCHASE 3 NEW WINDOWS FOR OUR NEW HOUSE ADDITION TO MATCH THE EXISTING WINDOWS THAT APEX INSTALLED LAST YEAR. ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A SMALL DELAY GETTING THE WINDOWS FROM THE FACTORY (NOT THE FAULT OF APEX), MIKE DID A GOOD JOB TO KEEP ME UP TO DATE WITH THE STATUS OF THE WINDOWS. HE WAS VERY ACCOMMODATING AND A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH. THE WINDOWS LOOK GREAT.

I HAD A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE WITH APEX ENERGY SOLUTIONS FROM DAY ONE. MICHAEL FOIT CAME TO OUR HOUSE TO GIVE US A DEMONSTRATION ON THE ALSIDE WINDOWS. WE WERE PARTICULARLY IMPRESSED WITH THE ENERGY SAVINGS THAT WE WOULD RECEIVE FROM THE WINDOWS AND THE PRICES WERE VERY COMPETITIVE. THE WINDOWS WERE CUSTOM BUILT AND INSTALLED IN THE EXACT TIME THAT MIKE PROMISED US. THE INSTALLERS WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS TO EVERYONE. THEY TOOK EXTRA CARE AND TIME TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY DID A GOOD JOB AND NOT TO DAMAGE ANY SURROUNDINGS. THEY WERE ALSO COURTEOUS ENOUGH TO PROVIDE AS LITTLE DISTRACTION TO US AS POSSIBLE. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE ALSIDE WINDOWS FOR THEIR QUALITY AND ENERGY SAVINGS AND WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND APEX ENERGY SOLUTIONS TO SELL AND INSTALL THE WINDOWS.
