Sundown Gardens

Scott was very professional and came up with a great plan with to scale drawings. Sundown Gardens has a very nice area where you can see samples of the different paver options and colors. This was very helpful. Scott was able to show us previous work and I felt overall, it would have been very good.

Their good. They have done a good job. If you happen to catch them during the service they give you safety instructions. I know that they have saved a couple of trees of ours by giving us basic instructions.

This is the first year I have used the service. I have been very happy with the results and the per application price is competitive with other companies. I was particularly impressed with the last service. We have a fenced in back yard with dogs and there are normally dog toys spread throughout the yard. The service technician actually took the time to gather up all the toys and place them on the patio before applying the treatment. I thought that was a nice touch.

We had a very positive experience with Sundown. I met with Joe Russ to discuss our tree removal and he recommended replacements and then helped me in choosing the best option for the location. The actual removal team took down the tree, removed the stump as well as some other shrub stumps, planted the new tree, mulched the whole area and cleaned up all the debris. The whole process was done quickly, carefully and professionally. We had several quotes for this project and Sundown had the best overall price for the whole plan. We love the new tree and would definitely go back to Sundown with future projects.

Very creative and practical design of landscape...Excellent people to work with. Price is relatively high, but the quality seems to be worth it for what you receive. Excellent customer service.

They were very good. They did all the clean-up too.

They have a retail store for gardening and landscaping supplies. They did some planting, mulching and all those sort of things. They were prompt. They did good work and their price was reasonable.

I have a contract with them where they come weekly. They are good. They do have some issues with their crew regarding what the customer wants. The communication is not good. They remove things sometimes that are not supposed to be or trim things that are not supposed to be trimmed.

They do immaculate work. They are always here when they say they are going to be here. They also do a complete job of cleaning up. My experience with them has been excellent.

It went very well! Scott was very professional and made suggestions. We had gone to the nursery and looked at different trees and plants. He advised us and made a sketch of how they should be arranged. The men that came were very consciences. We also had boulders placed and they were very consciences of where to place those.

They did an excellent job. I was very pleased with the amount of mulch and topsoil and the height of the beds. They were very neat in their work and refreshed all existing mulch. With all of that you couldn't even tell that they had been here - they didn't leave a mess at all. I really felt that I got my money's worth.

We went several times to purchase different trees, plants, and bushes for our yard. Their selection is INCREDIBLE!! Sadly, two of the trees we got started to die about a month after we planted them. We went back and showed them photos of the trees, and they had us bring one in to see what was wrong with them. After examination, they gave us two new trees and new watering/fertilizing instructions. They were really helpful and knowledgeable. They really take the time to help you get what you want/need for your yard.

We were told that they do organic fertilizer, so we had them come out and give us their thoughts. The person who came out (I forgot who) saw the state of the lawn and recommended not doing the organic even though it was more expensive. He said we had to get the lawn back under control before going that route. So they started a set of fertilizer treatments for the season. They came when they were supposed to, charged what they said they would, and the lawn is in much better condition than when we moved in. We will use them again next year.

They are very friendly and professional. They always call to let me know when they are coming. They tell me how long to wait for the chemicals to settle in the grass before letting our dog out into the yard.

From my very first call to them, they handled everything for me quickly and professionally. I had an on-site design meeting, with a follow up presentation at their facility. During the presentation, we were able to take a golf cart through their facility and actually see the varieties of trees, shrubs, and perennials they had selected. Once I gave them the green light, they were on time for every step on the project. My landscape designer kept me updated with emails, and even consulted on some additional tree maintenance I needed. The installation was perfect, and you could not tell an entire crew had been there. My drive and staging area were spotless. Even after the project was complete, they have always remained accessible for maintenance, repair, and consultation. They transformed my pool and side yard into an oasis. I cannot imagine a more professional or enjoyable experience to be had.

We asked them to do a landscaping plan. We were VERY specific about one objective, moving the focal points away from the foundation of the house. It took 3 return visits to get the designer to present something that didn't show plants bunched up near the house, which we did not want. Once it became clear that the multiple thousand dollar plan they first presented was well above anything we intended, they seemed to lose interest. However, we pressed ahead on one aspect, some repairs to drainage from the downspouts. They installed a large drain near the house and connected five downspouts to drains leading into the yard. In the past 18 months, there have been many issues. The larger drain had to be reinstalled as it was too high to do any good. Since then, two of the three other drains have lost their covers. One is full of water over a week after the last rain storm. Should have been some kind of drain holes and gravel to prevent that. And the dirt scattered loosely over the old drainpipe opening has washed away, leaving a big hole in the lawn. Sundown Gardens failed to listen carefully, and did a poor job on something that should have been pretty simple.

I thought they did an excellent job. It was a good experience. I thought they may have been a little bit pricey, but I had called a couple other companies and Sundown Gardens gave us the best estimate.

Be prepared to wait and pay more! You will never talk to the same guy. As promised, here's the report: Learn how to read a quote and compare it to your invoice. Labor day weekend of 2007, stopped at the shop and ordered seven trees. Paid the trees in advance and suggested to pay the work upon delivery. I called multiple times to (re)schedule the delivery, finally almost two months later the trees were planted. However the invoice exceeded the quote by $500!!!! They acknowledged the mistake but said the fee reflected their cost. I had to pay the full amount. First weekend of Mar-08, my wife wanted to be proactive and avoid the spring rush. We ordered an additional five trees (same job as in the fall). A month later, a "landscape stylist" showed up at our house. This time they wanted an extra $1000 for less work. Each time I spoke to someone different. They never justified the price difference and unilaterally decided to refuse my business. Thanks for the waste of time. I went to Affordable Trees. The trees were planted within a week at half the price.
